What an enchanting little tea room in an old school. We sat there being reminded of our own school days, admiring a lovely selection of photos and paintings on the walls while enjoying beautiful sandwiches ( the chicken Tikka was amazing) followed by a delightful cream tea. We’re coming again!

Dropped in for a quick snack with a former pupil of the Old School and resident of the village. We were delighted to find that the Tea Rooms were dog friendly and welcoming. Was in the area, so thought we’d visit where a relative from Wales says she had the best poached egg on toast a few years ago. Sadly, I didn’t realise that it’s closed on Wednesdays. Just as we were about to get back in the car the owner pulled up. What an amazing friendly welcome, she offered to make us a cup of tea and some cake. We had a good look around the pictures and crafts while the kettle was boiling. Then we had a lovely cup of tea and the most magnificent slice of Victoria sponge. I’m sure it was home made. There was a nice selection of different cakes to choose from. To top it all this lovely host refused to take any money for our refreshments. Highly recommended. We’d like to try the Sunday lunch next. Thank you so much for your kind hospitality.

Food was lovely and it is such a great setting but the service is poor. We were not offered additional drinks after our first drink ordered, asked how the food was or asked if we would like dessert. After the table had finished eating, the plates were not removed.. we had to go up to order two cakes and we had to pile up the used dinner plates to put the cakes on the table as they were still not removed and there was no space! We went to look in the craft room and there were still plates on a table in there even though the ladies had left a while ago.

We were very pleased to have located the cafe (initially via an internet search then helped by a notice board at a road junction) when out walking. Perfect for a lunch stop. Scrambled eggs delicious. The cakes were fab, such a light Victoria sponge and my son was strongly in favour of the lemon drizzle cake. Oh, and great Americano coffee too - had two cups each! The walk in the surrounding countryside and along the canal was pretty good too.

Decided to pop in after our travels as someone had told us about their excellent all day breakfast. And it was indeed excellent. One fried egg, one sausage, bacon, mushrooms, beans, tomato and a lovely cheesy Staffordshire oatcake. Came with plenty of toast as well, and a good pot of tea. Has to be one of the best breakfasts around. Well worth a visit and reasonably priced. Noticed that a lot of people seemed to be enjoying an afternoon tea which looked really good. Will return and sample that next time.

We visited here for lunch from the train station, after finding the local pub closed on a Wednesday lunch time. I'm glad the pub was closed as we had a really nice lunch. My wife and I had sandwiches, which were generously served with crisps, salad and coleslaw. We then both had the date and walnut cake which was superb. Its been a while since I've had cake that good! My wife reports that the hot cholocate was also worth the calories... Service was quick and efficient. We were so glad we made the walk up the hill!

My youngest daughter did not want a boozy hen night. She wanted her Mum (me), sister, niece, and her Nannie (my Mum) to go for a cream tea. We had never been to the Old School Tea Room before and booked for 12 noon. Unfortunately, Mum is ill and could not attend, this was not an issue at all (thank you for understanding). 3 x cappuccinos, 1 large chocolate milk shake, 4 delightful warm scones, with loads of jam and cream (we took a scone home for Mum) plus a very large rocky road cake for the youngest of our group. The service was lovely, very friendly and the food and drinks very enjoyable. Very clean, books to entertain kids and loads of parking around the back of the establishment. My eldest daughter said she would like to come for Sunday lunch, however if you do please book as there was a sign on the door saying they were already full for lunch when we arrived.

On a day out to Cheddleton I had seen good reviews for said hostelry so decided to visit! If you are walking (as I was) it is a tad strenuous going up the very steep Hollow Lane with no footpath in places. Well worth the effort for this lovely well run cafe by people who obviously like cooking good food. The menu is comprehensive, I chose “home-made” quiche with salad, both items were fresh and delicious, the salad had my favourite addition...grapes! There is ample seating in the old school hall, but I sat outside where some very new table/bench seats were provided at the front of the cafe. I presume the old playground round the back served as a car park as I saw quite a few cars negotiating the narrow entrance. It is only open Weds- Sun 10:00 til 16:00, very peaceful except at school lunch-time and going home time as the “new” school is almost opposite.

We had lunch here for the first time and what a surprise. You approach up a very steep narrow lane to what is obviously an old school with the playground now the car park. Located on the edge of the village there are extensive views over the countryside. Mum was at school here for a short while in the 1930s and we turned back the clock with a visit for lunch in the school room.I reserved a table for 3 ( mum, brother and myself ) by telephone just to make sure we could get in! Access is easy for disabled persons - mum is a little unsteady on her feet but had no trouble negotiating the small step into the premises. Plenty of room to park in what looked to have been the old playground, where the loos are located at the rear of the building. The food was a real tasty treat! Locally sourced ingredients are used where possible - homemade meat and potato pie, jacket potato with chilli con carne ( and sprinkled with cheese as suggested by the lady waiting on us ) and lasagne served with salad or chips.Couldn't fault the food or the service - Jane and her team are lovely ladies who are eager to please. They were really busy which just goes to show how popular the tearoom is.Would like to visit again, hopefully for afternoon tea - which you need to prebook !

Found this lovely tea room whilst looking for afternoon teas for a birthday party and what a lucky find it was. To have an afternoon tea is usually something that they like to have booked in advance, but they were happy to try and do what they could given a very busy day already and with an hours notice; but what a treat they delivered. Fresh scones with jam and cream, mini pizza, quiches, cakes, sandwiches etc. were all presented on the traditional 3 storey stand, with limitless tea. The staff are great and the food is cooked fresh on the premises and you can taste it. I am told the traditional breakfast is definitely worth getting up for. This café is getting really popular and I look forward to tasting more of their treats - so get in whilst you can.

Our group of five have just enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the tea rooms. The ingredients were quality and the cooking and service was equally good. Jane and her team were very welcoming. Will definitely return.

The beautiful old tearoom is a traditional delight with lovely food, friendly staff and local artwork that suits the place perfectly. As a vegan I was absolutely chuffed with their offerings. I thoroughly enjoyed the lentil curry, but the the ' Banana cake' .. Absolutely delicious. On its own with an afternoon tea is alone worth a visit. Highly recommended.

It is eight years since we last visited these tea rooms, but came back remembering the welcome and quality of service from before. We were not disappointed today.Service and welcome excellent- and (apart from my wife's) the best scones possible.Highly recommended - look forward to visiting again.

This place serves full breakfast, sandwiches, pancakes, and proper cream tea with homemade scones and cupcakes. They have delicious vegan scones and cupcakes too, served with vegan margarine and jam. The tea and coffee are good, they have soy milk as well. We liked the English rose tea. One of the rooms has a display of artworks and handicraft for sale. The staff is very kind.

After reading some reviews on route for this charming little tearoom we felt it was worth a slight detour to go there. Mainly because it mentioned it catered for vegan (One happy daughter) eaters and because it seemed to serve delicious food.We were taken in by it's charm as we walked in the door. It had a lovely welcome feel and was spotlessly clean. The food on offer was homemade and first rate and served with friendliness and a smile by a lovely couple. We couldn't fault any of the food we ate or the service. A super little tearoom and I'm just sorry it isn't nearer to home as I would be a regular visitor.

It's so nice to be able to take our new puppy inside a tearoom, she was given a treat straight away & we were made to feel very welcome. We had tea & scones, which were freshly baked this morning, delicious. The atmosphere is cosy & relaxed, with lots of interesting art work on the walls & in a room at the back of the tearoom there are lots of crafts to buy. We will definitely go back.

In an idyllic setting, a beautiful building with old world charm. Recommended by a friend, we visited as a family. Owned by a extremely welcoming couple who made time for a chat after our meal. We ordered 2 cream teas, the scones were moist and delicious and a pot of tea which came with plenty of extra water and tea bags enough for 3 cups each. My daughter ordered a jacket potato with a filling and a lovely fresh salad. We have already decided to visit again for an English breakfast.

My husband and I visited the tea room after seeing a recommendation on facebook and we were not disappointed. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is excellent. The sandwiches came with an ample fresh salad and I also ordered some chips which were just like my nan used to make :-)I can honestly say that the coffee cake I had was the best I have tasted for years, most places say 'home made cakes' but rarely taste home made but the coffee cake was definitely home made and was delicious. The old school house is cosy and warm and has a sense of nostalgia with an adjoining craft room with lots of nice things to buy/look at.I would strongly recommend and will be visiting again and again.

What a lovely surprise this turned out to be. The staff greeted us warmly, the Bistro had a lovely calming ambiance and the food was freshly made on the premises. We had a very pleasant few hours and will definitely return to enjoy the other delights on the menu, at very reasonable prices. Fish and chips Friday is first on our hit list!!
