Old Pines in Highland

We stayed there for one night. Very cost with goats and geese. There was only a 5 course menu for 60. But very good, and worth the price. The owner was very kind, and transported us back to the great Glen Way. We would go there again.

We booked dinner at Old Pines on our hike on the Great Glen Way. The inventive food combinations and beautiful, relaxing venue made this one of the top dinners on our trip, including some excellent dinners in London. Highest recommendation for Old Pines! Get there before Michelin finds them.

It's not worth wasting too many words: far too expensive for a very mediocre restaurant but Tripadviser is forcing me to do.

The Old Pines Hotel Restaurant is situated in a lovely setting. Some ducks and then goats passed by the garden when we ate there. The food was delicious and well presented with good combinations of flavours.

This is a charming place in beautiful setting that serves some of the best food in the area. They greet you warmly at arrival and take very good care of you during your meal. Very pleasant experience.

We ate here after our first night's walking on the Great Glen trail. A 5 course menu - my wife's vegan and mine pescatarian. Each course was presented beautifully and full of flavour - my wife's including celeriac, asparagus, artichokes and wild garlic. Mine included trout, garlic ravioli and a dark chocolate mousse. A great price and plenty of options for everyone. A wonderful setting too as we watched the goats outside wander around. Excellent food, the best of our trip.

High quality food; restriction is five courses selected from menu. Two menus alternate daily. Good selection of local beers and wine.

Booked into here last night for a party of six after completing a funeral service for my friends parents,we arrived on time and found there was a very limited menu to choose from and three members of our party were unable to find anything they could eat,we therefore very politely informed the lovely young waitress that we were unable to order food but would still like to have a drink, she then retired to fulfill the drinks orders and obviously informed the owner/ manager that we were unable to order food,we and everyone else in the restaurant heard him fly into a rage shouting and swearing and calling us all sorts of profanities for well over 10 minutes,just prior to his fit of anger we as a group had discussed and agreed to pay a partial cancellation fee ,even though this was not asked for, I personally run a multi million pound entertainment venue so understand the frustration that late cancellations cause but after the disgusting tirade we heard that decision was quickly overturned and we left, I definitely would not recommend visiting this establishment.

On first arrival we were very impressed as it is situated amongst beautiful scenery . We were hoping to dine for lunch , but unfortunately, only drinks & cake were served , as they only offer dinner . The young waitress that served us was so pleasant . Unfortunately my latte was luke warm, the slice of cake was nice, but a rather small slice . The atmosphere was rather tarred by the ‘off’ attitude of what appeared to be a blonde lady in charge , she appeared to be irritated diners were walking in asking for lunch , and abruptly advised them it was drinks of cake only ! ( in the hope it appeared, they would leave ) Initially, we thought it would be a lovely place to return for dinner , as the views were spectacular, but on enquiry, we were told they are usually fully booked , so we left it at that and didn’t feel encouraged to proceed further

This was the first time that we visited the restaurant & we were not disappointed as the service & the meal were very good. We will use again when we next stay in Spean Bridge.

We enjoyed a drink with appetisers in the cosy lounge area before moving to the dining area for dinner. Dinner was beautiful. We enjoyed scallops which were cooked to perfection and spiced carrot falafels to start, then lamb for the main course. Again, cooked to perfection and good portion. Desserts were amazing, as were the home made chocolates with coffee. Staff were attentive and friendly. Beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend 👌

We went for diner as we found the setting lovely. The starters were mean in quantity, someone took the scallops and got 2, someone else took the venaison carpaccio and got 4 tiny slices. The main dishes were good and with the right quantity, The deserts were tiny as well and the cheese platter not good at all, with dry and slaty cheese. It was very disappointing for the price we paid,. They seem to aim for high end but they are not there yet.

An interesting single-storey building comprising a small hotel with a proper restaurant, set amongst stands of scots pine, overlooking the Nevis range. Excellent food, good quality ingredients, cooked with skill and imagination. It's not cheap, but part of what you pay is for the skill and experience of the kitchen staff. There is a comfortable lounge area where you are seated whilst reading the menu, ordering drinks, and enjoying complementary amuse bouche nibbles. My only gripes: I would really like some simple fresh vegetables served with main courses. The pork belly was served with nduja-infused mash, some slithers of pickled onion, half a plum, and sprig of pea shoot. Some broccoli, spinach, carrots, or beans would have been much appreciated. I would have loved to try the cheese platter after the main course, but could not justify the £10 price. Many of the windows were open in the dining room (likely because the large picture windows make the place get hot on a sunny afternoon) - and the room was quite chilly in the early evening as a result. To conclude on a high note, the sticky toffee pudding, served to my daughter as part of the children's menu, was quite possibly the best of its kind - ever! Truly remarkable.

The view from the restaurant window is beautiful. We were seated in a lounge while we were waiting for the previous diners to vacate. We were served aperitifs while waiting. The food I ate, twice cooked belly pork melted in my mouth. In fact it was so good we returned the next night so I could have another helping. My wife and friends also enjoyed their food which was served hot. Staff were excellent and smiled a lot.

Had a lovely light lunch here today. Chilled amond soup was sublime! Really nicely presented and very fresh toasted sandwiches to follow. Staff friendly and helpful. Great view across the strath. Highly recommend. Grounds impeccably kept.

Stayed here for just one night. Wishes it had been longer. Booked through Mc Kinlay Kids. Great attention to detail with superb food. We did find the taxi fare to the cable cars to go up the mountain expensive. Especially as it was closed. Check before you travel.

This was our first night in Scotland, and it was a fantastic taste of what was to come! Afternoon tea on our arrival, served on the lawn, was delicious. A fantastic supper and classic Scottish breakfast. This really set the tone for a great visit.
