Old North Inn Restaurant in Highland

This Country Hotel lacks love and attention. Outside front and sides are very tall weeds, the flower boxes were full of wilted. Car park resembles a quary.. On entering the dining room was well presented albeit I felt it chilly . Only 3 diners and we had to wait to see if we would be accommodated. We were..we sat at our table and the really lovely young server took our order limited menu and 3 choices off that evening.. Food was just OK...not value for money @ £17.95 for haddock and chips. Overall not the greatest.. I'd love to see the outside tidied up and give the hotel some road side appeal

Great find near Inverness! We were staying at a lodge down the road and came for drinks and dinner. The barman was really friendly and knowledgable about the different types of gin and the food was amazing! Highly recommend the chicken burger and chicken fajitas.

Had an excellent meal with great service. Really friendly staff. Dogs allowed in the bar which also served fab meals. We stayed in our campervan in their big car park, phoned ahead to book and check if ok. Would definitely be back!!

We were doing NC500 for our honeymoon and staying at an Airbnb nearby so walked to the pub for food. Very friendly staff and the food was great. My other half had hunter's chicken (he was very impressed that the chips had chip spice on - we are from Northern England and usually places visited don't have chip spice!) and I had steak. We left very full and content! Decor and vibe was lovely, very peaceful.

Arrived tonight for a family meal, greeted by a lovely friendly young man who’s personality and communication continued to be lovely. 😀 Food was presented well all freshly made to order. 👍 All our meals were tasty and we couldn’t eat all of the pizza 🍕 as these were a fantastic size. Complements to the chief. 👨‍🍳 Drinks were offered with good advice on the wines. 🍷 Atmosphere was friendly and relaxed and we will most definitely be back and would highly recommend 🥳🙌 Definitely pop in if passing you won’t be disappointed 🤩

Been to the old north inn a few times, both the pub and restaurant, And it seems it only runs properly if a waiter called Paul is working. I will not be returning unless it is a Friday or Saturday night as that seems to be when he is working there otherwise it is extremely slow service. Went in with my partner and we decided to sit in the pub area where One other couple were seated, it took them 20 minutes to even bring us a food menu after asking for it three times. The woman serving us was obviously new but she didn't make any attempt to come over and take our order for another 20 minutes or so.When they finally took our order it was another half an hour before our food came out. My partner ordered balmoral chicken but received a piece of chicken with black pudding on top. Either they got it wrong, have no clue that it is mean to be served with haggis, or they’d run out of haggis. Either way, I don’t think it’s acceptable. It was a hassle even getting a drinks order as no one was tending the bar or in the pub area for very long. All attention seemed to be given to the restaurant area. Cannot say how the service was in the restaurant area but Perhaps if they weren’t going to provide adequate service in the pub Or have the staff to properly tend the bar, they shouldn’t have had it open. Would not recommend, new management don’t seem to know how to run a pub or restaurant and have completely ruined the decor inside with terrible painting skills and by ripping out all the old features in the dining area. Such a shame.

Era un domingo ventoso y nublado y antes de salir a correr saqué un poco de atún del congelador para la cena. Era ese tipo de domingo que necesitaba un pequeño regalo.Reservé una mesa en línea para las 15:15 en el Old North Inn y bajamos de Kirkhill.Había otra pareja en el restaurante y pagaron su factura y se fueron justo después de que llegamos.Pedimos nuestra comida y pedí una pinta de Belhaven Best amargo, solo para descubrir un poco más tarde que la cerveza se había secado.Para mi comida pedí el curry de pollo Katsu y mi esposa pidió el pollo Hunters que venía con patatas y ensalada Old North INN.Nuestras comidas llegaron un poco más tarde y otras dos parejas se nos unieron dentro.Mi comida fue muy sabrosa, el pollo estaba perfectamente preparado y la salsa de curry fue una delicia y el arroz también era perfecto. Decidí parar aquí para almorzar un poco mientras conducía. Los dos pedimos el curry katsu con naan. Tomó un poquito para llegar. . . menos el naan. ¡Tuvo que esperar, ya que lo habían olvidado y una vez que llegó estaba un poco negro alrededor de los bordes! El curry estaba bien presentado con la salsa "curry" en una jarra separada. Cómo nos decepcionó encontrar que era salsa de barbacoa. Probado exactamente igual que los cazadores de pollo. Cuando iba a pagar a la chica no podía estar menos interesada si lo intentaba. Le dije que no estábamos contentos y que siguió sonando la caja registradora. Aunque eso significaba que una persona tenía que esperar otros 10 minutos por su comida. Tuvimos una muy buena comida aquí, el menú satisface a los vegetarianos, vegetarianos, sin gluten, así que como un grupo mixto con diversas necesidades dietéticas fue perfecto. Rara vez encuentra más de una opción vegetariana en un menú, ¡así que la cantidad de opciones aquí fue emocionante! También hay un montón de platos tradicionales y de carne y pescado. Un montón de la comida está disponible como para llevar y creo que todo es casero.

The burgers at Old North Inn are really good. Home made, juicy and a good selection of additional fillings. Great value for money. Good size portion. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

We stayed nearby and had dinner on three evenings in the Old North Inn. The food is excellent and the portions are big! You will not be disappointed with the food for a small country inn. The best thing of all was the service. The service was quite exceptional, The waiters and waitresses were all very attentive, polite and professional. My wife and I felt that the service was far beyond want can be experienced in many more expensive restaurants. We found when visiting in September that we needed to book. Enjoy!

Ate here whilst staying nearby, dont be misled by outside appearance as the food was great and reasonably priced. The young waiter who served us was excellent, helpful and friendly.

Fuimos a cenar a este encantador restaurante / pub encantador. Buena opción de menú, excelente comida, bien presentada y una excelente relación calidad-precio. This was our first stop on our NC500 road trip, we had a very nice evening meal and good breakfast. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Marion never stopped (slow down Marion) Thank you for a very nice stay.

Le restaurant est un peu vieillot et le personnel pas toujours très sympathique. Pour des raisons de logistique nous y avons dîné deux fois et y avons vécu deux expériences culinaires différentes. Un soir nous avons pris un plat "complexe" et à la limite du dégoutant (poulet mozzarella), un autre soir nous nous sommes cantonnés à du classique (Burger et fish and chips) et c'était pas mal.

Nos alojamos aquí por dos noches de estancia de 3 noches reservadas. Tuvo que cortar corta estancia debido a la esposa se sentía. Todavía pagan tarifa completa. La habitación estaba limpia y ordenada. Desayunamos dos mañanas £7. 95 a pesar de tener esposa cada cereales y té y tostadas. Poco empinadas. La cena que tuvimos en la primera noche era abundante y comestible. No hay personal de noche y acceso o evacuación durante este tiempo era a través de la puerta de la salida de incendios y luego por metal empinada escalera en la parte trasera. Tuve perro para tomar para caminar y ella estaba aterrorizada de las escaleras tipo abierto. El edificio estaba bien, pero necesitan ser redecoradas y ventanas de reemplazo.

Se ha dicho en otras críticas, el personal amable que debe haber cogido el servidor hembra en un mal día. Mientras ella estaba en ninguna manera grosero, pero nos dieron la sensación de que ella no podía ser molestado. No tengo ninguna queja sobre la comida que era delicioso y recién preparado. El precio era razonable para dos campos, cada uno con una bebida que cuesta menos de 40 libras. El restaurante en sí era agradable y bien decorado, con un ambiente agradable.

Paré aquí para un almuerzo tardío. Tenían una gran comida de domingo oferta con 2 platos por menos de £10, pero nos decidimos por tratar los haggis y combo de queso. Mi marido tenía queso y bungaloes "haggis" (plato típico escocés) y tenía haggis y queso horneado. Ambos eran servido con una parte de lado, vestidor y patatas fritas. Tamaño de la porción generosa para el precio también! Nos pareció que la comida era excelente, y el servicio fue excepcional, el caballero de guardia fue extremadamente acogedor. Ignora las críticas anteriores y pruébalo, estamos contentos de haberlo hecho. Amplio menú a elegir.

Food is excellent, good value and decent portions. Tapas and goats cheese starters were great, burgers good and to finish try the malteser cheesecake...homemade and delicious! Would recommend!

Often just driving down a Scottish road and stopping at random has yielded pleasant surprises in food and accommodation, but this time it did not work.

We went on 24.7.12 as a party of 4 adults, 3 teenagers. We were staying nearby, and found this advertised in our accommodation. Our friends invited us all to dinner to mark their wedding anniversary. It was not completely straightforward to identify the restaurant because the name had changed back to an old name, following a recent change in ownership.The staff were initially welcoming, but totally incompetent. One of the side orders never arrived, but more seriously: one of our party had a serious allergy to mushrooms; he ALWAYS asks about this in any restaurant. And so the waitress was asked if the vegetarian lasagne contained mushrooms, and she went to the kitchen to check: no, it did not, she reported, and so that was ordered. The food took some time to arrive, but when it did, cutting into the lasagne, the first thing visible was a mushroom! There were lots of them, and even eating one or two by accident could have resulted in serious illness. Protesting this, an alternative was ordered, again checking for mushrooms (and the replacement meal really didn't contain mushrooms!). Of course, everyone else was busy eating their dinner whilst this replacement was being prepared - it was fairly quick, but the idea of everyone eating together was a bit lost.When the bill came, the waitress advised that 'as a special concession' that guest's meal had not been charged, in a way that implied that despite nearly causing one of us food poisoning, they were being very generous!Needless to say, unless I found the ownership and management had changed, I would not go back, and I would advise others to stay away too.
