Lovely local pub and great food at good prices. Nice family treat out.

Not fancy food but well cooked, tasty and affordable. Great service and good for family parties or couple. Seperate section for pool, TV football.

Outside or inside seating either various places to dine. Service was very good from the bar to the waitresses, 1/2 pint of draft coke rather expensive at £2.80, you can now order via an app but placed our order for food at the bar and it arrived within a timely manner. Decent sized portions. Waitress checked on our food ; we had an issue, no problem sorting it out so great customer service.

Amazing food, atmosphere, and staff. Can't recommend enough. Paul, the assistant manager, is very helpful, and it's great to see a manager interact with customers. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food is unreal! And priced really well too. We will return regularly.

Since I discovered this pub 2 years ago, it has become my new local due to the fantastic staff, atmosphere and affordability. The best part of this pub however, is the fantastic atmosphere and hospitality on match days. I spent the world cup watching every England game at the pub, all major premier league and Preston games, and I'll be returning to the pub for the Euros taking place now. A special shout out to Paul, who much like Southgate manages the England team well, manages to make sure that I have a great table, great food and drink and overall great experience, complete with a waistcoat himself. The whole team at the Leyland Gates are fantastic, which is why I and the rest of my football supporting mates keep coming back. Thank you!

Standard pub grub don't care much for all this on a skillet and peas in pots but food was good came out very quick

The pub was very clean, staff polite and welcome and reasonable choice of beers. The menu was full of good choices and deals. The chicken mix platter for two was excellent value at £15.99 and more than ample in quantity and quality. Will definitely be paying more visits to this pub.

Food was good, but delayed getting to us. We were informed of a potential delay due to a large party being in. Collection of our main meal plates was slow, had to chase them up to have them collected. Very apologetic and offered us a complimentary drink.

We visited the Old Leyland Gates today and tried the vegan spicy vegetable flatbread it was delicious. We were very impressed with the jack fruit wings and vegan nachos also. Music is a perfect volume so you can still chat comfortably. Food arrived quickly from the friendly staff. We will definitely return. It would be nice to see even more vegan options in other areas of the menu too as the food is so nice.

Food was terrible table of 4. Flat bread pri chicken was dry and the flat bread rock solid. Chips on all the meal are from dirty oil. The chips where brown. What a waste on money do not waste your time. Should of gone maccys the standards are at a reasonable level

I came for a meal on Tuesday night and about an hour after I’d eaten I had severe stomach ache! All night I barely slept and then the next morning at 6am I woke up and threw up. I’m 100% sure that I’d had food poisoning because I know the stomach pains from last time I had it! I’ve been here a few times and it’s been really good and it’s a shame to be writing this but I had the burger and chips and I thought it looks pinkish when I ate it but just ate it anyways as I thought it was okay. I was really poorly from this and I’m still not great. Unfortunate to be saying this really! Staff and service were really nice though!

Went out n a Saturday lunchtime and it was a little quiet but it had a nice atmosphere, the food was excellent, the staff were really friendly and helpful.

Came with my children and parents for tea Wednesday evening for my mother's birthday. The majority made great use of the mon-fri 2 meals for £11.95 I think it is. Three lasagne with ciabatta garlic bread and fresh side salad and a hunters chicken and chips placed on a bed of fried onions. All good delicious and will come again.

We went for a family get together and a meal. The pub is okay. They had a small but adequate gluten-free section. The service was good, but the food was not. My steak was chewy and gristly. Very poor quality. Although with my steak they did get the level of the cooking correct. My daughter was not so lucky. She asked for a well done steak, and it came medium-rare. She just couldn't eat it. I can overlook the drinks as it was just after Christmas and they would have been very busy, but the food was poor.

Only re- discovered this place during the Rugby World Cup. Chain pub but staff are belting. Great venue to watch sports and the atmosphere is up there with the best. Highly recommend for a standard chain type meal but particularly to watch sports.

Bar staff were polite but unorganised. Flitted from one end to the otherof the bar, so unable to see who'd been waiting longest. Good atmosphere though.

Every year the family from the north and the family from the south head to Preston cos we live in the middle for a festive menu Christmas meal. This year was the Old Leyland Gates. 3 courses £17.99. At that price it would be hard to complain and I won’t. It’s was actually very good! The menu was compact but with something for everyone and some different options to the regular menu. The food was fresh, cooked to order and the staff were great, even offering drinks at the table a few times. My dad go’s nowhere without his dog and this is a dog friendly pub too. Not been there before but we will definitely go back.

Good food, good vibes, but quite dusty in some areas and long service times. All in all, recommended for a night out to eat for less than 5 people, any more than that will result in not eating food.

My meal was already on the table when I arrived and I didn't pay so can't say anymore

Better than last time Booked a table for 10 people, not realising football was on. Our table was reserved but when we arrived other people were sat on our table. The manager quickly moved them on, but then we constantly had dirty looks and huffing and puffing the whole time we were there because disgruntled football fans couldn’t sit down. Quick service at the busy bar, but it took almost an hour for our food to arrive, and then 45 minutes for 3 kids desserts to arrive after having to ask twice. By this time the pub had quietened down drastically after the football was over. Food was better than last time, although out of the burgers from the already limited vegan options available. The flatbreads were drowned in peri peri sauce, although a great hot taste, the flatbread was soggy and swimming in it making it almost inedible. The soft tacos were lovely, as were the skillets that the kids ate. Very disappointed in service time. We arrived at 4pm and left at 7. It’s alright for a cheap tea out with the kids, but I’d avoid football nights because even the “restaurant side” was bursting with people drinking and watching the football.

Great pub...been going in on-and-off since mid-2000s. Superb karaoke on Friday nights.

Good food. But very disappointing service. Food took nearly 1 hour to arrive after ordering. If there is not enough capacity then seats need removing or advising about the wait.

We decided to stop off for some food on a long journey from Bristol, we are so glad we chose this pub. The young ladies working behind the bar and serving food were lovely and polite and always smiling. We went for the sharing platter meals both deciding to have one each. I had the chicken one, there was so much food and it was all cooked really well and tasted great. My husband went for the burger meal, he said that it too was cooked really well as being such a large burger it was not at all dry and very tasty. He tried to finish it all as it was so good he didn't want to stop but the burger beat him. Thanks very much for the great meal, if we are in the area again we would definitely go back.

Even though im from Nelson i manage to get over to Leyland once a week and visit this excellent pub. Management and staff are second to none and always make you feel very welcome. I would highly recommend this venue 10/10 👌

Went on a Friday lunch time with my auntie, 2 meals and 2 drinks for less than £20 service was amazing and food delicious, we will be alback again soon!!

This place has now got its act together since opening. The service is good the food is excellent and the staff are friendly and attentive and everywhere is clean. With live music and quizzes and live football. The only downside is they let dogs in. Anywhere, in my opinion that serves food dogs should not be allowed or at least keep them in one particular area, dogs when wet smell and I for one don't want to eat next to a wet dog, except assistance dogs.

Great place to watch football. Food is pretty good for price and to much while watching the game. Manager is top, really accommodates the crowds as much as possible for the big matches. Staff are friendly, polite and helpful.

Much better than it used to be, better menu, dogs welcome (dog ice cream and nuggets available). Still sticky tables and menus sometimes though.

Burger was moderate and the chips were cold, couple of times this has happened now but I know the place is a decent place so I'd definitely go again.

As we entered no staff to greet us or take our drinks order. Showed ourselves to the table and sat to look at the menu, again went to the bar and no staff until another family came in. Staff on front of house helpful and food was a little disappointing, mash was like smash out of a packet, Food came hot which was good but not 100% good.. abit disappointed.

Fantastic offers on I have never been here before but a family member said that the food and offers are very good 5 of us went yesterday , we all had except the child Gammon , so it came with pineapple egg peas chips tomato onion , it was a large portion hot and delicious, with drinks it cost just over 27 pound I will be going back very friendly , team .

Came in for a meal with my extended family this afternoon. Even though there was a lot of us we all got our food orders taken quickly and food was served quickly as well. I had the hunters chicken and it was very good. It's been a fair few years since before COVID I was last in the venue and the place looks great after the reopening. Also, every Thursday at 8:30pm it's smartphone quiz night with Quiz Love, free to play, lots of fun and great prizes up for grabs! 📲😀

Food improved clean tidy n friendly

This place is terrible. We Keep giving it a chance but every time we go there is always an excuse as to why they haven’t got stuff on the menu. The chef has walked out mid service was a personal favourite of mine! There’s a lad who works behind the bar who is lovely but spends most of his time apologising for how rubbish the food situation is. New female member of staff is surly and rude. The food in the Eagle and Child is far superior.

It all started so well. We ordered a sharing starter and 2 mains, the starter came pretty quickly and was quite nice to be fair. But then the story takes another direction. While sitting waiting patiently for our mains another customer complained of cold food which was duly taken away to get sorted, when it came back it had clearly only been reheated, egg as well. Lady asked for a refund and got it. Meanwhile we realised we'd been sat for nearly half an hour waiting for mains with our dirty starter plates still in front of us. The waitress eventually appeared so I asked if there was any chance of getting them and she said she would chase them up. Roll on another 10 to 15 minutes and the hubby finally went to bar to complain and got a refund thanks to the very pleasant guy behind the bar who also said we were welcome to stay and have the meals when they were ready but we decided to leave as we'd gone past looking forward to the meal by then. Clearly a few issues that need sorting with kitchen and waiting staff.

Nice friendly comfy pub with polite bar staff we recently tried the food and enjoyed it it's great value for money. Pub always looks clean which helps when the tables are cleared quickly can highly recommend the place.

Asked for medium'rare 8oz sirloin - it came well done. Menu also had grilled tomatoes included but they were missing from the plate. Messing up orders when there are barely any people inside just shows lack of care.
