Good food well priced friendly staff

Enjoyed a fantastic meal with our son for his birthday and his girlfriend’s family in the restaurant. Great service and substantial meals left everyone feeling very full. We’ve eaten here on several occasions before and it never disappoints. Would definitely recommend, thank you.

We have been wanting to have a meal here since we stopped for a drink last summer after a walk on the moors. And it certainly didn't disappoint! Wow what an amazing meal! The portions are huge! The ingredients are fresh and local and very tasty! The service was brilliant! My husband, who is disabled was very well accomodated for. I had the best Birthday meal thanks to this lovely place and will definately be returning!

Booked a table for 12 for a family meet up. A very warm relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. They were alsohappy to accommodate our 2x dogs. The food was all served at the same time and the quality of the food and the portions were perfect, especially if you like a hearty portion. So much so I didn't need another meal that day. Would definitely recommend booking as it soon filled up. We will return when we next visit just wish it was closer. Thank you very much

Rammed and pretty slow service with a few unfriendly faces among the staff. It's just not really set up for as many covers as it deals with at peak time. Neither is the village, parking is pretty horrible. The roast however, was brilliant and portions are VERY generous. Cannot fault the food at all.

Lovely quaint little place with a warm firelit bar area and separate restaurant area. Staff were so friendly, and food and drink were excellent. The food menu is extensive with lots of specials listed on the restaurant wall. We all went for supper meals off the supper menu (which are available at lunch time and in the evening and until the end of March) and so cheap at £9.50. These are plenty big enough for any adult and absolutely delicious. The chips are like fish and chip shop chips, outstanding. Would definitely visit again

Really amazing carvery. A little on the pricey side but the quality makes up for it. All homemade gravy and sauces, great atmosphere and lovely staff. I will definitely be back in summer so I can take advantage of the views

We haven't been for a few years and the Sunday lunch was as always magnificent meat was lovely and plenty of meat given. Will be back xx

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday roast. Booked our table for 2pm. Not all that busy when we arrived but packed by the time we left. Nice roaring log fire. Lovely staff and service. Our dinners arrived before our drinks, so we suspect they were already plated up. Nice grub....not fantastic, but tasty and plenty of it.

Really good portions, good pub food cooked well. Really busy but really accommodating. Dog friendly bar as well so always a plus. Would visit again.

Enjoyed a very good meal here, then happily stayed the night in the car park in our camper van. Excellent service from friendly staff, and a good atmosphere . Will definitely be back

Been here few times now when passing through having stayed here also couple times nearby...walked from camel trail to here recently and stopped for a bite and a lovely local ale...they do a great Sunday roast carvery and on Wednesday....we will be back guarantee.. 💓

Beautiful pub. Built in 11th century so low roof and doors so I learned to duck. Also 720 feet above sea level made it highest pub in Cornwall. The food was amazing If there is a heaven (which there isnt) i want that on my arrival. Steak was best I have had in a long while, the other meat was so fantastic also. My wife had the small scampi and chips which was plentiful. Surroundings were really nice and staff were brilliant. As for accessibility there is room to get into pub but not enough to manoeuvre around so sit near the accessible toilet. The accessible toilet was adequate, very clean and well stocked. We will come again when next down this way.

Stunning. The BEST value for money I have had in Cornwall. Pub food at its finest, quality and quantity. And all the staff are lovely. Came out for a birthday meal, special board is realy good, the lamb shank with mash was stunning.

Glad it's here, walking on Bodmin Moor would be difficult without this Pitstop however not great quality food or beer.

Wow ! What a super place for lunch. The portions were so large we couldn't eat it all but, were offered a takeaway box. Price of the meals was way below what I would expect to pay, especially after paying £22 for fish and chips at another venue which was nowhere near the quality of the meal at the Old Inn. Proper hand cut chips not, French fries dished up elsewhere.

Called in today whilst on a motorcycle ride for lunch Didn’t book but was accommodated straight away before the table was in use Fantastic food and generous portions Will recommend and be back again👍

Lovely inn, we had the carvery with lovely cuts of meat, the stuffing was like cardboard and disappointing. nice atmosphere, the car park was small and full but found parking in the village. Was a good price and only just managed to finish the meal

Best roast I have had from a pub in a very long time, I am usually quite critical as I can rustle up a good roast myself, but I couldn't find fault with any part of my meal, all veg hot and well cooked, cauliflower cheese very tasty and meat tender and flavoursome, very busy even at 3pm so best to book, thinking of going again next Sunday instead of chancing disappointment elsewhere

The highest pub in cornwall. Lots of choices on the menu and had some lovely food..generous portions..reasonably priced..we always visit when on holiday at Hengar Manor..

Great experience here. Staff excellent and hard working couldn't do enough for us. Food choice plentiful main menu plus many specials so something for everyone. Ordered homemade pie with mash and an all day breakfast with a side of chips. Food was excellent, lovely quality, and huge portions, more than ample. A must visit in this area.

We've been going to The Old Inn, St. Breward for the last 9 years. It's our goto place on the last evening of our summer holiday in beautiful Cornwall. The welcome and food never disappoints. It such a charming pub in one of the most lovely locations. We always enjoy the drive there as apparently it's the highest pub on Bodmin Moor. Anyway, the food is always delicious using a lot of fresh and locally sourced produce and there is so much of it, and an extensive menu to choose from. The staff have always been attentive, very friendly and welcoming, a real credit to the pub and the area. Next year's visit can't come soon enough! A big thank you to all the team at The Old Inn and Restaurant, St Brewers for always making our last night so special. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

The place is good, people were friendly, but the food wasn’t that good enough and portions were huge and therefore prices were a bit spicy. I would go there only for sweets.

Update 25/08/2024 Reduced from 5 to 3 stars simply due to pricing. I booked a table for four for late lunch on August Bank Holiday for my wife and I and two friends who were holidaying in Cornwall at the Old Inn at St Brewards, I believe that the pub/restaurant is under new management. We have visited this pub/restaurant many, many times since my initial review. It has been our go to place for a Sunday lunch. I was surprised at the availability as it is usually booked up well in advance, especially for this popular holiday weekend. On arrival I was unusually able to park right outside (a first) and the restaurant was almost empty although the bar area was quite busy. I soon realised the reason why. The price of a two meat carvery has gone up from £11.95 to £17.95 in two years, that is an over 50% increase!!! That said, the meat portions were really generous, even more than before. The quality was still excellent, as was the service, but with these prices there is an awful lot of choice out there and the footfall appears to have fallen dramatically. £17.95 is quite a lot for a carvery and we will not be visiting this pub/restaurant quite as often as we have done. It is clear that many others are thinking likewise. Original review from 2 years ago. My wife and I decided to have our Sunday lunch at the Old Inn & Restaurant after reading all of the good reviews of their carvery. This is a very busy place and booking for Sunday lunch is a must especially if eating outside is not an option due to the weather. Well it did not disappoint. I did worry that with many carveries the vegetables can end up soggy and tasteless and the meat can be of poor quality. All my worries were unnecessary as here at the Old Inn all of the vegetables were crisp and tasty and the meat was succulent and tender. The choice on our visit was beef, lamb, turkey, pork or gammon. The pricing for a choice of one meat is £9.95 -, two meats £11.95, and four meats £16.95. The meat is served generously and the vegetables are help yourself and on this occasion they included broccoli, carrots, suede, cauliflower cheese and roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings along with rich, tasty gravy and all of the sauce accompaniments. We will certainly be making this one of our regular eating places and whilst I really struggled with the four meats, despite only a moderate helping of vegetables, so I shall plump for the two meats in future. As an aside, I cast an eye on a neighbouring table and I saw that they had chosen the mixed grill which looked tremendous. I can't wait to go back!!

Top Nosh ! The carvery is excellent but beware, don't get greedy. The portions are large and the food excellent. I had a three meat meal and could not finish it all, it was really good. Make sure you book as they are busy and it is not a quiet cosy type of restaurant. That said it was great for myself and my family. Highly recommend

We come for food here every year when we camp close by, you cannot fault these guys. ALWAYS a friendly welcome and they are always accommodating. The food is wonderful and the menu is very varied with a large specials selection too. Couldnt recomend it enough! A must visit.

Wonderful vegan lasagne!!! Absolutely delicious. Expensive but very large portion sizes. Definitely would come back. Local ingredients and several vegan options on the specials board

Brasserie with a typical atmosphere. The dishes are simple, very generous and good. For the price, it's reasonable. Inside, we are very promiscuous with neighboring tables.

Read a review on tripadvisor for places to eat in the area not being local and pick this place . It was a lovely meal and the price was good as well if I was local I would come again. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Been coming here for years when we visit on holiday. Portion sizes are enormous so certainly value for money. The milkshakes and smoothie are a new addition this time round and they were fantastic. The stake and ale pie could have easily served 2 or 3. Hi unters chicken had a very generous portion of chips

Reasonable prices, locally sourced ingredients and possibly the biggest burger I’ve ever had. The burger was perfectly done, not burnt not undercooked and was simply good meat, cheese and not overdoing it with sauces or other stuff. Simple and tasty

WARNING!!! Do not visit this place if suffer from asthma or have lung issues. Vaping has been permitted INSIDE the premises, spoke to manager as table of 5 was vaping next to us whilst we were eating a Sunday lunch that needed to be paid upfront. Response was owner allows vaping inside and that it's not against the law, terrible customer service response as was not even offered an alternative table to move away from them. No signage inside or on website to state that this is their policy, im guessing the reason for wanting to allow vaping inside is due to pub selling vapes from behind the bar to teenagers. As you can imagine will never be coming again and will not be recommending it to anyone. Food and customer service is definitely not worth the price would choose a different pub as plenty of better ones close by.

The Vegan Lesagne was out of this world even for a meat eater, just a great change. The service atmosphere is very good. Car parking can be a challenge.

We decided to have lunch here as it's an old favourite from childhood holidays on the moor. A fantastic old pub with really good food and lovely staff. There were so many tasty looking things on the menu that I wish we could have returned for dinner!

Lovely service, great location and cracking food. Absolutely huge portions. I had the Huntsman Lunch which was huge slabs of beef and ham, along with a monster homemade sausage roll that was a meal in itself. 100% would divert here if I'm ever within 50 miles.

Not our first visit and certainly won't be our last. Excellent food was served by the most friendly, helpful staff. The Old Inn has a charming historical feel but also has a beautifully set-out restaurant behind the main more cosy and traditional old-world bar. Just to top it all off, they have an outdoor terrace area for dining with spectacular views.

Dog friendly highest inn in Cornwall the meals are generous and tasty. been a couple of times and will go there again soon you will not be disappointed

We were staying in Hengar Manor just down the road and decided to try here for dinner as the restaurant on site looked less than appealing. So glad we decided to visit. It's only a few mins down the road but the food is really lovely and homemade chips! Portion sizes were huge. We are vegetarians so we had the butternut squash and lentil parcel and Chickenless hunters chicken which were both amazing. My son had the children's chicken nugget meal and ate it all, so empty plates all round. Staff were welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The restaurant decor was really nice as were the surrounding views. If we're in the area again we would definitely make a return visit. Blasus iawn, diolch yn fawr. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
