The staff were very friendly, unfortunately the food was not really up to a good standard, we had a curry, nan bread and the poppadoms were not fresh, and the curry was not particularly tasty.

Staff where great, cheerful, friendly. That's about all there is to say. I ordered 2 stakes, they where the correct temperature when we received them, the issue was they where chewy as heck, clearly not tenderised at all. Never had a paid for meal be like that before and I eat steak almost every time I go out. Would not recommend steak at all. Will have to try something else next time.

Used a 30% voucher that came thru the post the pub was really busy and our initial expectations wasn’t that high however the food was great hot fresh and served quickly lovely buzz in there and really clean will definitely be back

Well what can I say , this is the go to place now for me and all my family friends the food is perfectly cooked and very promptly at the table piping hot ! Fully booked out all the time so I’d advise booking well in advance , I spoke with the waitress and said they only have one chef but the speed and Amount of people ordering and food flying out I very much doubt they only have one chef 🧑🏼‍🍳 but great food great times and many memories now and for the future. Many thanks to all the staff and the 1 chef that must be 3 chefs

Attended a wake service and staff was brilliant.

Child friendly dog friendly fast food friendly. Not a drinkers pub. New staff are struggling need more training. Empty used glases sprawed across tables. Not disabled friendly too many big steps. But at least it was easy to park.

What a lovely place, I drove up, from Brighton and took my elderly mother here for Mother's Day Dinner. I was helped by the staff as my mother is in a wheelchair. They were polite, friendly and the roast Vegan dinner was amazing, So was the apple crumble, better than home cooked food. Incredible price, I had to check that I hadn't been undercharged. Even the local people were so friendly, holding doors open for us. Will definitely be coming back with the rest of the family, next time we are visiting. We came up yesterday and brought my mother here again, for dinner as it's her birthday today. We were not disappointed, the waitresses were exceptional, so friendly and helpful, unbelievable customer service. My partner said that I didn't realize that people like this existed any more. My mother loved the atmosphere and the food was amazing. The local people were incredible, holding doors open for my mother. Wow, I really can't praise them enough. Thank you.

Didn't have a Sunday roast on a Sunday?? A few other things not available due to supply issues? Mainly meat for a mixed grill 😆 Tescos even sell garlic mayo but other than that a tenner for half a kebab and chips was OK I guess... Servers was great but took ages to come when the pub was empty so overall I guess next time I'll chew on a chair leg for free or try the fingerpost pub just up the road...

we sat at a table in an empty restaurant to have a member of staff come up and tell us that table was reserved - there was no sign on the table, which i pointed out and got the reply that he hadn't put it there yet! - so although the whole room was empty we were expected to move. We ordered from the lunchtime menu, it arrived, to say it was a little disappointing in size with around 12 chips was an understatement, my gammon steak was smaller than the fried egg it hid below, and my friends hunters chicken was tiny - we agreed that we had ordered from the lunchtime menu and although disappointed the food was edible - we then went to order our desserts and were told that to get the lunch deal we should have ordered them at the same time as our mains, when we said why weren't we told this at the time we were surprised to get the response.......'we don't do that' - why not? so a dessert that was advertised as £2.50 ended up being £4.99 each - and the staff didn't even offer an apology. Food was OK, service ok if you like your food plonked in front of you but customer service a big fat ZERO, - would we recommend - no, not a chance

A friendly atmosphere with friendly, smiley staff who are generally happy to see you. We go to the old house quite often and have quite a few friends who drink here too and can say that the name of the pub is true to itself!

Food was good only thing wrong was that they brought out starter and main meal at same time then when they brought main back was only luke warm so they changed it, staff were very good.

We booked to come here after the funeral to hold our mother's wake. We chose here because of the easy, disabled friendly access & the amount of parkìng space. Alan gave us the choice of booking per head or by choosing a specific amount of money we wished to spend. As we said that we just wanted to offer friends & relatives a place to come & chat, have a cuppa, a light bite to eat, in a comfortable & friendly place, we would choose to pay a specific amount. Alan didn't want a deposit or the money up front, which I would have gladly paid. We couldn't have been happier with the amount, quality, & choice of food, the service, or the friendliest people & atmosphere. Thank you, Alan & all your staff, who made our difficult day much more bearable. We will definitely be coming back here again.

Recently moved into the area tried a few establishments and settled on the best! Fabulous staff who remembered myself and daughters from our first visit. Always made to feel welcome and the food is delicious! Varied choices in a warm comfortable pub 😄

Popped in for a meal and a pint atmosphere was great , friendly bar staff, ordered a steak medium rare and have to say it was cooked to perfection absolutely beautiful it was ,a beautiful cut of meat . Well done to all the staff it's a great pub give it a try

Not a very good experience if I'm honest. Mixed grill wasn't available as there were no steaks. Asked for the ultimate burger instead, but no pulled pork, so had to have, I think it was the cowboy burger can't remember now, but it was 2 burger patties, with cheese, bacon and salad. Asked for salad in place of chips. My friend had the pie and chips. Did come in a timely manner, polite staff, etc. Unfortunately, the burger was extremely bland and tasted like grease. My friend said she didn't enjoy hers either. I was starving so I ate the meat and salad. Sorry to say this experience means I won't be returning, or recommending. When we entered and informed staff we would be ordering food, we should have been made aware of the lack of items on the menu, we would then have gone elsewhere at that point and not ordered drinks.

Went for a family me to celebrate the end of Christmas, 7 adults and 2 kids. Food was excellent, portion sizes were great and brilliant value for money!

Came in ordered food girl.behind bar great .been a lot of times .soup.to.start was fine then fish and chips came fish very small with 6 chips on one 7 on other .mushy peas .not worth money at all.if it was 2 for 10 but full price I would rather go to.chippy sorry never again

Came during a day off to enjoy one to one time with grandmother. Ordered 1 chicken tikka and a side of chips. The food was clearly rushed as the chicken tikka was luke warm at best and a partial serving. Side of chips arrived on the plate with the tikka (chips ordered separately) and was a partial serving too. Naan was stale and solid. Upon complaint we told the bar staff about said issues and did not hear back for 15mins afterwards, no acknowledgement from manager and bar staff left to handle it. Bar staff handled the complaint well and sought out compensation upon own initiative. No manager to be seen.

Went for a wake. The food was dreadful, cheap, and very, very basic. Of course that might be dependent on what the family asked for or were prepared to pay for a buffet so probably a bit unfair but I'm just telling it as I saw it.

A party of eight friends enjoyed a lovely Christmas lunch. Tasty food, piping hot and served by lovely friendly staff.

Booked up for a party of 30, and was very pleased with the food and service. Also has disability toilet and ramp for wheelchairs so was pleased with that. Friendly staff and definitely recommend this place. Many thanks 😊

Last week, we came in for a meal, for the first time in years. Was really pleased we did. The gammon/sweet potato fries and the fish and chips were delicious!, So, we returned again today. (Here still). I had the gammon, for a 2nd time, and hubby had the hunters chicken. Lovely! About to order dessert. Will definitely return!

Me and my husband and roast beef dinner and our daughters had 2 ultimate southern fried chicken burgers , since the welsh gentleman has taken over management the food and service has improved 100% and would highly recommend the pub for a meal !!

Went on sunday night, group of 6. everything was ok for 5 of us but unfortunately my husband had lasagne with salad and onion rings. When we got home he felt ill, stomach going over. Went to bed and at 11.30pm he shot out of bed and was violently sick. So much so he hurt his throat and kept getting hiccups for the next 2 days. He couldn't eat anything because he still felt ill, and still having tummy problems 2 days later. Will definitely not be going there again!

Well frankly that was the worst Sunday dinner ever ...where do I start ? The beef was sandwich meat microwaved..smash (powdered) potatoes. Frozen stuffing .aunt Bessie roast spuds .Yorkshire pudding was very similar to cardboard....my wife had mixed grill ...well let's just say my dog had a fiest when I got home ...because she loves burnt frazzled food.... avoid this nightmare Sunday venue at all costs

Just been here for the lunch deal that is pictured on the website 3 courses for £5-95. Placed my order for me and my husband and it came to £21 with a glass of lemonade I said I want the £5-95 deal the man behind the bar said we don't do that anymore i don't know where youve seen that I said on your website he said thats not on here as he showed me his phone so I showed him on my phone 1 ordered 3 courses it took a while to get starter and bread with soup was stale so changed it main just sat there waiting for dessert so my husband asked the server how long it was going to be she came back to us saying you didn't order a dessert I said I did she said you didn't order a dessert with me you just asked for the lunch deal and what drink can I get for the extra £1 she said you didn't order desserts I said stop arguing with me you got the main meal mixed up I asked for 1 fish and chips and 1 Hunter chicken and you put 2 fish and chips on so basically the man behind the bar and the server called me a liar

Have tried this pub 5 times now to support local and only been able to get food twice..kitchen closed, too many orders in, run out of food. They do not advertise ' no food' and so you buy a drink before you find out, too many excuses.cannot be relied on for evening out. Very disappointing 😞

We called in here,,, not pre planned,,,, for lunch. The staff were pleasant, the pub was clean and quite appealing, the food was very nice, served hot on hot plates, and a reasonable price too. We shall definitely be calling in again

Visited for a Lunch catch up with a Friend and it was lovely, esp as it's literally only a couple of minutes from my home. Friendly, quick service and delicious food (I had the Hunters Chicken Baguette and Chips). Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely brilliant food staff are amazing used to use smithy’s in Brownhills but don’t any more due to the food being absolutely 100 percent better at old house on the hill would recommend you all try the burgers and lasagna.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💩

Had meal at the old house at home last week and I really enjoyed it . There was 3 of us and we all had a starter a main and a pudding we all said how nice it was . Been in a few times and never had a bad meal . It had a great atmosphere too . Looking forward to our next visit

First visit for a while. Standard pub menu but our meals were very nice and service was speedy. Service by the gent at the bar was friendly and efficient. Our waitress was probably the best I've come across,friendly,attentive and was doing a great job keeping the vacated tables clean and tidy.

Allan offers a warm welcome , we had burger meals each, really tasty, would definitely recommend this lovely pub x
