The Waterside Cafe in Walsall

Breakfast looked lovely on arrival although did arrive within minutes of ordering which I thought was strange, first mouthful was cold and my husband exactly the same. When raised with the supervisor she said she would get it replaced. 2 minutes later the exact plates returned and when asked they confirmed they had been microwaved. This is not being replaced and nothing was obviously temperature checked prior to serving. Discusting, full refund given but I felt this was to keep us quiet and not spoil the 'posh' atmosphere they try and perceive. Another table next to us advised they had to complain about the temperature of food also. When asked for the manager i was told 'she isn't in today" How can £30 worth of breakfast be served cold and when raised just popped in the microwave and brought back out . Absolutely appalling and a health hazard. Been coming here for years but definitely Won't be returning.

My husband and I go here quite often because the staff and the food are excellent. They have outdoor seating, some tables are overlooking the lake, It's a most peaceful place to enjoy a coffee or a lunchtime meal, can't think of a better place to be.

Clean, tidy,friendly staff,food wait was not long came out with coffee and it did not dissapoint will be returning in future.

Had a nice afternoon tea and cakes followed by a walk round the fairy garden.

It's one of mine and my moms favourite place to go and relax, especially sitting outside in the nice weather

Myself friend & myself came here on Thursday we had a delicious meal.the staff were wonderful.nothing was to much trouble.we will certainly be back soon.

I'd booked afternoon tea for my 90 year old relative. From the start it was very simple and easy to book and pay the deposit. A table was reserved for easy access as 2 members of the party are disabled. The cafe was clean, well lit and has a wonderful view of the lake. The food was delicious and there was certainly plenty of it. Now for the service. I have never been anywhere with service like it. The team couldn't do enough for us and nothing was too much trouble. We brought a cake with us which was brought out when we were ready and the ladies gathered around and sang happy birthday which was a lovely gesture. Sharon who looked after us whilst we were there was friendly and so attentive. She genuinely made our visit and didn't stop smiling even though the place was packed and she was incredibly busy. Our relative absolutely loved her day there and can't stop talking about it. Thank you 😊

It was a hot day so the cafe was very busy. Had cake and a coffee. All very nice.

Our drinks were good, but the service is slow. We've visited a number of times and watched the staff, we can observe no discernible system for the processing of orders. It's very strange. We get served eventually, but we don't know how!

Popped in around 11am a few empty tables although it was a lovely day there was outside seating as well. Staff were very friendly and we had toast and poached eggs and toast and scrambled eggs lovely thick toast which I prefer good selection of cakes and scones good service even although it was busy will return

All the years i have driven past.Cafe was very nice.

Popped in on Sunday morning with a busy day ahead to grab a coffee and bite to eat. We weren't provided any condiments etc as other tables had and waited over 30 mins for our food which we hadn't been advised of any wait so is not acceptable to us for a simple breakfast. When food arrived there were items missing off the plate and portions were tiny and low quality for the high prices charged. Worst of all the meals were both cold and we had both finished our coffee so no drink to accompany without queing and letting the food get even colder. Because of the long wait we had no time to speak to the venue about the issues but did see other customers having issues with incorrect orders etc also. £35 for two breakfasts and drinks we expect far better and would have preferred the local greasy spoon to this. A shame in the beautiful setting to have such a disappointing experience.

Had a great breakfast this morning with my friend, the staff were friendly, good atmosphere, and a bonus, dog friendly 😀 Will definitely go back, highly recommend, especially if you are a dog owner.

Lovely garden centre cafe based at William Wheats on the Chester Road. They also have a very interesting fairy walk and lovely florists and gift shop.

What is the point in a cafe in a park if you can’t go in with your dog???!? No signs just rude staff. East kilbride not dog friendly at all.

This cafe is superb! I can't fault anything with the food, service or atmosphere. It is just lovely. We went on Sunday afternoon for lunch as a party of 5. The staff were all so pleasant, attentive and friendly. The food looks pricey but is worth it for the massive portion sizes! Everything was really delicious too. The oat milk hazelnut lattes knocked Starbucks out of the park. The food came out really fast and was hot and fresh. The sprinkle cake that my daughter had was divine. Will definitely be back.

This is a great spot for breakfast and lunch, food was great and was served quickly! Workers were very welcoming and polite, so my friends and I all have a very comfortable, easy experience here. The seating area was clean and tidy, and we had a fab view of the loch too. Overall a lovely lunch experience, will definitely be back and would recommend!

Fabulous breakfast everything cooked well. Very busy which shows how popular and good this place is. Nicely decorated for Christmas and all staff are lovely and friendly. People were not in a rush to leave and I saw many tables order more drinks etc after they had finished original food and drinks.

I hoped for a tasty cheese and tomato toastie, with an accompanying lentil soup. What I got was extremely salty, soup which certainly wasn't like any lentil soup I've had before. Usually it's made with at least a ham stock, in this case apparently not. The cheese and tomato toastie seemed to be made with the most tasteless cheese and mushy tomato. They were to bring my order to the table, but like the previous time I was here, it went walkabout first! So, £9.50 for a small bowl of soup, accompanied by a roll & butter (I'd ordered a toastie!!??) and a sandwich with no taste and a sad salad. And they can't even be bothered to bring you cutlery; leave your food on the table and get it yourself. Disappointing.

I arrived at this cafe at 2:25 and waited for a table to become available. I got to the till point to order food at 2:32 to be told the kitchen closed at 2:30! Talk about jobs worth and pettiness! Won’t be going back.

Lovely place for brunch with the usual baked items & cheesecake slices. My hot breakfast was good, but the scrambled eggs a wee bit overdone for my liking. Gluten free toast available. The tea was hot & a generous serving. A great place for people to meet & gather, we were not rushed on at all & the staff very friendly. Highly recommended. Toilets available.

Went in for lunch ...Scampi chips ... 6 x bits of scampi chips no garnish what was it .... had a coffee and it was £10.58 very poor ..will defo not be back 😡

Mèt for Coffee and scones regularly, today they had no Coffee....no hot chocolate and only 3 scones....clearly leftover from yesterday...what's going on???

Really nice spot overlooking the loch. Great service, food & drinks came fast, hot and tasty. Also the option to sit on the balcony for the view is a nice touch.

Wow what an amazing cafe/restaurant. One of the best toasted sandwiches I have had for a long time! Served with salad. Offer a large selection of teas and coffee. And the cake selection well just check them out the caramel cheesecake was heavenly ! Thoroughly recommend!

For me, this was a first time visit. Great atmosphere throughout. Excellent choice of goods and a decent amount of food options to suit all tastes. Extremely friendly service from the ladies at the cafe Giving the impression that nothing was too much trouble Only a snack on this trop for sure will be for more....seeing the breakfasts coming out made me drool

Our experience was nothing like some of the reviews. Coffee and scones, which were large and tasty. Staff couldn’t have been more pleasant and efficient. Got served straight away and cafe was very busy. Will definitely go back.

Oh no not so good had to wait 20 minutes to be served at the till with only 2 couples in front of us we ended up just getting a couple of cakes not even any drinks. The food waiting time was 45 minutes as the young staff seemed under so much pressure and the older lady behind seemed so angry we didn't want to harass them further it's pity the cafe itself seemed so nice was looking forward to lunch too. Sorry won't be back

Visit every Wednesday when meeting up with friends. Coffee and homemade scones are great. Served today by the lovely Julie who is new to the staff. Good luck in your new role. Hopefully see you next week.

Excellent afternoon tea for our wedding anniversary. Beautiful views onto the pool and the wildfowl. The service was top class and the team is very helpful and friendly.

Visited for the first time last weekend and was so impressed. We stayed a while at the garden centre so had breakfast and then went back later for cake. The food was delicious. Good sized portions and reasonably priced. It's nice to go somewhere you feel you're getting value for money. Bought a voucher for my Mum for afternoon tea as it looked really nice so will definitely be going back. Highly recommend.

Nice setting and the food was good once we got it as it took over 25 minutes to arrive and the place was half empty. Went to the counter to check and they said it’s on its way but no one was cooking! Also a shame that the tables were not being cleaned properly.

Met a friend in this wee place. Not been in it before and certainly won’t be back. We ordered tea and scones, the scones were burnt, and had a chin wag. 1.5 hours later the woman server came across and put a reserved sign on our table. I was mortified. I was made to feel, you have had enough time sitting on the very uncomfortable chairs. The cafe wasn’t full so I can only assume the staff felt we were there long enough. Anyhow, due to me feeling embarrassed I won’t be back.

Have been here several times in the last couple of months, a great setting next to the small lake and a large and airy room indoors. Very impressed by the service and it all seems to run efficiently even when busy waiting times for food is not extensive and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My first visit I had a Fishfinger sandwich, beautifully presented with a small salad which was lovely. Unfortunately there was too much bread for me.. so ended up not finishing it but it was delicious. My last visit I asked if they could do the fishfingers with a salad rather than on a sandwick.. they happily did so and it was delicious the presentation and the taste was top notch. The prices are also excellent for such quality.

Long wait for a bacon sandwich, bacon dry, and tough on thin sliced bread, my wife thought it was pathetic.

Was informed that we could only be served in paper cups as the staff didn’t want to do dishes. This is outrageous and disgusting

Went today for festive afternoon tea. It was brilliant.

Went for Afternoon Tea, a belated birthday present. Had to queue to be seated, but it was very busy, however a table had been reserved for us. Food quickly arrived and looked delicious. Only down side was only filter coffee and breakfast tea included, I usually have decaffeinated drinks. Maybe they should look at that or allow you to pay extra. It was very busy, so noisy and we struggled to get more coffee for my husband. Maybe they should give you a small pot. For the price it was very enjoyable and would definitely return.

We have visited this garden centre for many years but had never visited the cafe. What a joy! Overlooking the lake and furnished with solid attractive furniture the cafe was clean and welcoming . My husband ordered steak pie and chips.I had a ham salad with the nicest ham ever tasted. Our bill?£20. How do they provide food of that quality for that price? Will go again - soon!

The Waterside Cafe is a great little cafe set in the grounds of Wheats garden centre next to the lake. The food is always excellent, reasonably priced and the staff are always polite and friendly. Our normal order is either a full breakfast or a lunchtime sandwich, both of which are well presented, tasty and filling.

Met friends for lunch,pleasant environment but extremely busy almost every table taken.Food freshly prepared and good quality.Prices okay.

Decided to try out the cafe today and am sorry to say we won’t be back. We were told 15 minute wait for meal, that turned into 40 minutes. All I can offer about the food is that the most flavorful food on our plates was the ketchup. Disappointment is all that we can offer.

I’ve visited a few times and each time the service has been worse than the last. Decided to walk up myself today for lunch. Stood waiting at the counter for 10mins while a member of the team grunted at me to wait and stood staring...

Very slow service, had to ask for a table to be cleared as many left dirty. Took 45 minutes for a cheese toasty and a table next to us waited just as long for a single bowl of chips!

Well what can I say, I've had a wonderful afternoon tea with my 3 daughters and my best friend today. I would highly recommend waterside cafe to anyone for this lovely experience. We stayed for over 2 hours and were not rushed in any way by the lovely staff, especially Ann, who just let us enjoy ourselves. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious, well worth a visit.

Tuna sandwich half loaf of bread but hard to find the tuna it was more like onion sandwich coffee and cake was nice though

Won't be going back. Food was horrible even the coffee and cake was terrible and I couldn't finish it. And to top it off the cook helped clear tables and was smelling of cigarette smoke 🤮

This used to be a fantastic cafe, but the last two times I have been it has been brought to its knees. It gets very busy as they offer afternoon tea alongside breakfast and lunches, with this I think they need to keep it separate. The most recent time I took my nan, the tables hadn't been cleaned and we had to go and ask if they could clean it down. When I ordered they said it would be a 40 minute wait for food but drinks would come out soon... We waited half n hour for the drinks yet people who were going up and ordering were getting theirs before us! A lot of the time the staff were joking behind the till, and didn't seem too bothered that complaints were coming in (we were not the only one waiting ages for drinks). The staff were not aware of the space around them, one dropped a full bottle of milk on the floor, left it whilst getting mop for it all to run out, block the entrance to the kitchen and be wasted. Don't think I'll be going back for food, really disappointed with it lately.

Very busy, as expected. Two of us for lunch & told 30 min wait on food. No problem. One meal came out after 15 mins & the other after 30, so we ate separately. Made no sense to us. My food was very good, my friends, not do much...

Poor customer service, slow, poor quality food and very overpriced (£7 for a basic sandwich). I feel so disappointed writing such a negative review but I am left with no choice after my experience today. Went to the cafe today and we ordered our food (two cheese and onion sandwiches and 2 children's hot dogs) - £32 with two coffees. We were told there would be a 20/30 minute wait. Fine. No issue with this. We then had to wait 45 minutes. We were not offered an apology for the lateness of our food. I checked my sandwich, and it had no red onion on. I brought this to their attention. They then took my sandwich to add the onion. This took 10 minutes. In total, I was waiting for 55 minutes before I actually got to eat my sandwich which is ridiculous with two toddlers in tow who were very bored by this point. No apology was offered by one single member of staff. Such a shame as this is a local cafe for us and I wanted to enjoy it but quite frankly, I didn't and we wasted our money.

Went to garden centre to do the gnome/fairy trail with fiancé's granddaughter. Good array of plants. Food in restaurant was really good. Probably best one I've been to at a garden centre. Not your normal type of menu you'd find at this sort of establishment.
