Old Dairy Cafe in South Somerset

Was visiting National Trust, looking for somewhere to lunch. Came across the Old Dairy Cafe, the food was excellent and very tasty. Would definitely visit again.

We stopped here from lunch on our way back from holiday in Cornwall. Much better than motorway services and very popular with the locals. Food was great, and we will stop here on our next trip!

I will admit that I am a foodie and always carry high expectations when eating out, and will complain if I do not feel I receive value for money. I go here 2-3 times a week purely because it ticks all the boxes, good service, good food with high quality ingredients, and a pleasant atmosphere, all at the right price point. Yes, at times you are best to book but that's the gamble, same as anywhere successful. Breakfast has always been faultless, as has lunch, and the food on their special occasion evenings. I do read some reviews on here and question if they are talking about the some place! I am impartial and am quite happy to post negative reviews if I feel somewhere warrants them but am lost in this instance.

Lovely little cafe and farm shop. The food looked amazing being brought past us on plates. I went for the Halloumi wrap and it didn't disappoint. So much flavour. The Tennessee burger looked amazing too, although sold out when we ordered. Definitely going back to try more from the menu.

Did some research prior to trip down to Cornwall, and found The Old Dairy Cafe detail along our route on the A303 An absolute gem of a find, the quality of the food is excellent and the service friendly and welcoming Good smooth tasting coffees and great selection of high end breakfast and brunch options We both had breakfasts, a large and small version. Also a lot of GF options and substitutes which is a bonus for a sufferer. Looked at the orders that came out and they where all presented very well and all looked tempting Avoid the service station areas nearby by and come here you won’t regret it

We had a fabulous lunch for our big family. Great food and friendly staff. We’ve stopped here before as it’s a great place to stop just off the A303. Food is amazing - there were 8 of us and none of us could fault our food. Loved the street food style menu offering an alternative to an English breakfast - although that looked amazing too! Worth booking as it does get busy. Will definitely be visiting again next time we are off to Devon.

My husband said the Mezze was one of the best meals he’d ever had! Lovely staff and great service. Everything we had was really tasty. Good choice for children too. We’ll be back!

I had booked a table but was told on arrival that it wasn’t listed.( When we left,I asked if they had subsequently found my booking & they had, it was at the bottom of their electronic screen. We were to.d they were busy & would have a long wait, which we did. We actually waited for 45 minutes to be served with our food which was a shame as it was a special occasion. The food itself was excellent but the event was spoilt by our wait.

Came for lunch today, 10th July, with a friend who lives locally. I haven’t been since before Covid but I felt the standard of the food was even better than before. Great tasting food, we both had something from the brunch menu, delicious coffee, not at all wishy washy! So much so we had to have another with one of their fabulous cakes. Rural yes but delightful and I would highly recommend. PS all the staff were lovely, and really helpful, and for a Monday they were busy.

Awful experience. We stopped off for breakfast. For the price we expected good ingredients cooked well, how disappointing. Left most of it as it was inedible, service was poor. The set up was that we would pay after our meal. This led to somebody coming out and checking up on everyone in case they tried to leave without paying, making everyone feel like a criminal, awful feeling. Could have been saved by paying when you order. Seating outside was uncomfortable. When we left one of the other customers had rudely parked right up against the driver's side meaning we had to climb across the seats to be able to get the car out.

This spot was great for breakfast, if you want lunch best to book.I had an impromptu stop to stretch my legs , partake of a coffee. The menu was so good, I was tempted by a small breakfast. Good coffee Very goof breakfast, the food oozed quality products. Other things I liked, I was asked if I wanted white or granary bread, a nice change to the anonymous brown. The tomato was unusually properly cooked, a big tick from me, I hate the hard grilled stuff. The mushrooms were whole and I feel improves the flavour. Excellent fresh egg and good granary bread. The sausage and bacon were top noch, I make my own sausages and bacon and these had a real artisan flavour. I don't get down often but will be back.

I had told my husband so many times that I wanted him to visit here as I had been several times mid week and loved it. As per previous review. Looked lovely in the summer without the rain shields up. All I can presume is that the staff are new and not adequately trained or skilled. Young chap serving us looked frightened all the time, no chat no smiles. Menu was of course excellent and I presumed the french toast with berries has been replaced by, French Toast with Strawberries. The lack of hot berry juice made this a very different dish I wish berries was still an option. The french toast was not like previous visits soft and fluffy with a lovey custard like centre. It was tough and seemed to be unseasoned. Coffee was incredibly strong, my husband loved this but it was awful for me. He had shwarma, having lived in the Middle East he has eaten far more shawarma than anyone needs to have in a lifetime, but decided to try it, it was nice but not what he anticipated. We have plans to take visitors next week. Im really nervous will it be up to scratch, I don’t mind paying the price for excellent food, or will it be mediocre?
