Gorgeous impromptu lunch. Lovely flavoursome and fresh food. Very nice staff, great wine by the glass. Would definitely recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Old Butchers. The salmon appetizer was outstanding and we both enjoyed our main meals of the Soufflé and fish and chips. The service was excellent and the price was very reasonable for what we received. Look forward to returning

What can I say to go justice to the food? Truly exceptional! My partner and I love to dine out and we are in agreement that the food at The Old Butcher is possibility amongst the best we've ever experienced. It was beautifully cooked, presented almost like a piece of art that you wouldn't want to distburb and served with professional but not overbearing service. The meals are priced on the high side - but given that the place was packed with a constant flow of customers tells you everything you need. A popular place for very good reason. Thank you, we will most definitely be back!

Disappointing experience, but I must say the food was extremely good. We arrived on time for our reservation, gave our name for the booking and were sat outside (it was a beautiful summer's evening), all was perfect and pleasant. My partner and I had just that day got engaged so it was a special evening! My partner then had a missed call from a local number. Before she could then call it back, it rang again - it was the restaurant... stating we had not turned up for our reservation. Obviously it was explained we had, we had been sat outside by a member of staff maybe 5-10 minutes prior, and served drinks. We were then told our reservation was not for outside and were moved inside, which was a little strange. The staff had got us and another booking muddled up, but by the nature of the call, it was clear the people who had specifically booked for outside had not turned up, so why we had to move inside I do not really know. A walk-in couple were then sat on a table inside next to us, having enquired about sitting outside. Then about 15 minutes later the staff told the walk-in couple the outdoor booking had not turned up and offered to move them outside! Was bizarre as we had been sat there initially, having made a booking, so surely it would have been courteous to offer it to us back? It sounds ridiculous but this ruined the evening as it just sparked annoyance for our special celebration. So we just ate mains, paid and left. The service generally was rather cold as well. I have never left a review before, but felt it necessary on this occasion.

Best restaurant in the area. Outstanding menu, huge choice and superb wine and cocktail menu. We always have a great time and great experience at TOB and tonight did not disappoint. I don't usually write reviews but felt that I had to after our experience last night at The Old Butchers. My husband and I had been before, so I knew the food was (hopefully) going to be as good as we remembered... And luckily it was! This time we took my parents in law, and they thought it was just as delicious as we did! However, what really made the evening was the service from all the staff, but a special mention must go to Milly - she looked after us exceptionally well, but not only this, she is a real character and had us in absolute stitches - we wanted to take her home, she was just so lovely and a delight to be served by. Thank you Milly for really making our evening so wonderful.

We started with some delicious wine, followed by warm dark bread that was baked on site. That was served with homemade butter. It was so delicious we asked for a second round. We both ordered filets that were perfectly prepared. Then, I followed up with sticky pudding and my husband had some tasty ice cream. We are going to try to eat there again before we leave the area next week.

Don’t miss this restaurant but be sure to book. The food is innovative, delicious. The crab with homemade focaccia was amazing

Excellent place to eat. Ask for outside in the summer as inside a little cramped no air conditioning Be prepared for dogs joining you! Fantastic place for fish and seafood in the Cotswolds. The atmosphere is rather lively, the food excellent. First shared the Fruits de Mer, then the turbot. Not cheap but well worth the price. Advance reservation highly recommended.

This is an exceptionally good restaurant. I’ve wanted to go for years but, while on holiday in the area, events have always intervened. Tonight we got there. It was even better than I’d imagined and my expectations were very high. Really good food, friendly service, great atmosphere. Very good fish ( salmon, scallops and Dover sole) and excellent meat ( partridge) - plus lovely side dishes. The food is beautifully presented. Really high quality and a restaurant to be visited often.

I looked at this restaurant online and liked the menu. We weren’t disappointed. The food, the service and atmosphere was excellent. I opted for a prawn cocktail with a Bloody Mary sorbet starter, excellent I then chose a simple dish, macaroni cheese with lobster for mains, this too was excellent. I had the best treacle tart I’ve ever eaten for dessert. My wife had lambs liver and onions which she loved. All washed down with a decent white wine. Our main course came soon after the starter and I asked the waitress to delay the dessert by 20 minutes which is exactly what they did. Overall, I can highly recommend this restaurant

Me and my boyfriend went for our 5th year anniversary meal. They messed our booking up as we had to cancel our first booking but they were under different email addresses and we were told they had sorted it. We arrived to a woman who eventually gave us a table after we had tried to explain they had cancelled the wrong booking even though I had emailed from a different email address and they had confirmed the previous one has been cancelled the day before we made the second booking, she still told us it wasn’t the restaurant fault and we weren’t bothered as accidents happen… The food was average at best, nothing special what so ever, I got the fish and chips and the fish was extremely greasy and I found some black plastic in my fish, however I did not complain as I have good manners and didn’t want to cause an issue as we were there for a celebration. My boyfriend has allergies and could not eat coleslaw so we asked for it to be removed…his burger arrived with coleslaw inside!!! Luckily I had realised and warned him before something serious happened and we asked for a replacement which took 15 minutes! I had almost finished my meal by that point. I ordered a sticky toffee pudding and it was completely dry inside, I was struggling to get my spoon through it and we did not finish it. The cocktail and beer was average and overpriced. Paid for a coke, came in a small glass with more ice than anything and wasn’t even half a can. The most strange thing was that when we asked for the service charge of £8 to be removed…a very old woman with short hair and large glasses and clearly a temper issue came over and spoke to us horribly and questioned why we had asked for it to be removed. I told her the fish I got was very greasy and the cake was very dry, she did not like my honest reply and started to raise her voice which was very unprofessional, I was so shocked with her tone of voice and then she of all people asked us to leave when we refused to pay the service charge and I told her it was discretionary as it said on the menu. Disgusting treatment from what I’m assuming is the manager and I’ve seen other reviews now that have complained about the same woman. Honestly so disappointing as we went for a celebration and someone had to ruin a nice day for us, hope she gets some help with herself or finds a job more suited to her hopefully away from members of the public. This meal was wonderful. My Mother-in-Law said it was the best meal she’s ever had. The menu is extensive but we loved everything we ate. The calves liver and roast partridge were particular stand outs. Lovely staff too. I wish I lived closer so we could go more often! Will definitely be back

The food was good, as was the service in the main, in this very popular restaurant. 4 of us went for an early Friday night supper and it was fun, with an excellent atmosphere. My first course, smoked salmon, was first class. Thickly sliced and served with a horseradish containing sauce it couldn’t be bettered. One negative and, for me, it was a fairly big (or small!) one. On the interesting menu it mentioned a Scallop starter so I asked if it could come as a main and was told “no prob”. It came as one scallop, cut in two, beautifully cooked but….!! We asked the waitress where was the rest and she said that that was the dish. She simply didn’t get the point! So I ate it and shared my friend’s and partners chips until I stopped feeling hungry! In short I left thinking it was a reasonably good restaurant but I was in no rush to return to a restaurant that was happy to serve one scallop as a main course. It put a bit of a dampener on my Birthday dinner.

Amazing restaurant - friendly staff who cleared an area outside for our big dog! Great waitress (4 stars so the owners know) who was very friendly and accommodating. Amazing food. Wish I had the soufflé as it looked amazing. Will be back!

Absolutely loved this restaurant. We sat outside on the heated front terrace which I loved. Food was amazing! Everyone in my party of four thought so: no complaints at all. Staff were super friendly and helpful. A must when you are in Stow!

Despite the name they had an outstanding shuffle that was so light and fluffy I ate the whole thing! LOVED IT. My friend had the lobster Mac and Cheese and felt it was one of the best she had ever had. Our Waitress was one of the finest I have ever encountered! This place is just plain awesome. Make a reservation and go there if you can.

We’ve been coming to Stow for years, but for some inexplicable reason The Old Butchers has never been on our radar. It is now though. Everything was beyond good. The service, the menu, everything we ate was first rate. We shall certainly return.

Excellent evening at The Old Butchers where the food was imaginative & very well prepared. Mussels starter was the best I've tasted, would've liked a bit of bread with it though, & the lobster main was right on the button. Fish soup was very tasty & bread was supplied with this, whilst the grouse main was beautifully cooked & full of flavour. Humour was supplied by our brilliant waitress, Emily, who was pretty awesome! In fact, all the staff were friendly & obviously take a great deal of pride in this fantastic restaurant in Stow. Will definitely be coming back when up this way again.

This place is a cut above the rest. Superb food and excellent service - all delivered with a welcome smile and personality. The place has atmosphere and "personality" also. We do not live close by, but we try to make the journey when we can as it is on the top of our "treats" list.

A very good Restaurant in the beautiful Cotswold village on Stow-on-the-Wold. We couldn’t get a table at the normal times so accepted an 8.45pm booking. Excellent service. Pork Chop and Soufflé dishes were very good and the White Rabbit Reisling a favourite. Worth a visit.
