Really poor food. Early booking of 7pm for dinner and told multiple dishes were off the menu. Made a choice of creamy garlic and chilli mushrooms, so bland, basically mushrooms in cream. With toasted French bread to dip (menu said ciabatta nevermind, must’ve been out of that too) no butter. Ordered the crunchy Stilton salad, as this wasn’t mentioned as being ‘off the menu tonight’, few minutes after ordering am told unfortunately they have no Stilton. Ok. So chose the halloumi salad, this was dire, it was an expensive £14.50 bowl of supermarket leaves, some boiled carrot crescents, not the carrot ribbons described, a couple of slices of orange and cold badly cooked halloumi. No one asked how it was. FYI…. It was terrible and a con thanks for asking. We won’t be back. Shame as previously had some nice lunches here. To add to this is was live music, which we should have been told about on booking, was out with friends who have not seen in too long, wanted to actually hold a conversation but we couldn’t hear each other as was so loud. Also, get some more better veggie options on. Halloumi salad or a halloumi burger? Bit lazy.

Six of us enjoyed a wonderful night. We had a selection of main courses. Each of the meals was excellent so it was good to know there was a good choice for our next visit. Five of us had a pudding and each one lived up-to our expectations. All of this at a very reasonable price. Thanks to all the staff for your great service.

Previous visits to the Badger have been great and we have always enjoyed the food. Tonight we tried the camenbert starter for two. Very small portion for two to share. The Scampi & Chips main was very overcooked. We should have refused the food. At the end of the meal I did mention it to the waitress and asked if she would tell the chef. I didn't ask for a discount as perhaps it was a one off.

Visiting here on a trip to the gliding from Lancashire. Great little find and so pleased we came across this place Lovely country pub lovely interior, lots of different sized tables with coasters and ‘jugs’ hung from the beams. Massive menu with something for all tastes We had the sausage ring, lasagne, 2 different burgers then sticky toffee pudding with ice cream tiramisu and eton mess All the meals were spot on and 4 clean plates. The puddings were fabulous also Highly recommend a meal here They have a large beef garden also and show the football on big screen. Small car park but we parked across the road so no problem

My few visits to the Badger in the past have always been good, with good food and service. I hadn't visited for a few years when my partner and I stopped today for lunch. I was looking forward to the fish and chips as, although never having ordered it here before, it had looked great on other peoples plates on previous visits. The chips were great, the garden peas I requested instead of mushy were fine, homemade tartare sauce very nice and some lovely bread to accompany the meal. Unfortunately though the fish was very disappointing. It was rather a small piece and slightly burnt. When I lifted the thin batter up the fish was very thin and burnt at the edges and also broken up. The base batter was also running in oil and soggy. While writing this review I realised that in my opinion it was a piece of battered fish that had been hanging around and refried. there were only 2 other people eating in the pub while we had our meal, so perhaps they were using up old food before cooking fresh. generally a lovely pub and lovely food but very put off by this as we went out of our way to come here, ( it was not our first choice), as the meals in the past had been so good. sadly I won't recommend this to anyone soon.

First time I’ve been here What a lovely place , although the parking isn’t great The atmosphere is very chilled Staff are friendly and helpful The food was top notch The outside part is pretty and relaxing also , there is an accessible part out the back to get in the pub but you can only sit in a certain area ,which is a shame as the front entrance is a step so not accessible for wheelchairs Another bonus it’s dog friendly

Good service at the bar but very poor food. The chicken breast burger was only just warm and the sliver of fish was hard to locate in the slab of overcooked batter. Interestingly nobody asked us at any time if the food was ok.

Recommended by the prestigious hotel Stonehouse Court. Entered and greeted by cheerful bar staff . Order placed , good selection of beer and ales. Bob a local dark ale very good. Décor dominated by ,of course , by Badgers, charming. Tucked away slightly off the main A419 suspect it mostly used by locals which means standards must be met or it will die. Food arrived , hot and tasty , burger , but I had something called skinny chips which were very bland unlike my wife's dish of fish n real chips. Locals very curious as to where we from but not threatening in any way . It was enjoyable so much so we returned the next evening . This time i requested real chips . Yes you guessed it the chip stick skinny things served . Would return if in the area. Better here than any thing within Stroud it self. Small car park in rear.

Nice atmosphere as usual, okay selection of beers although the Guinness has gone. Great staff. However: the Sunday meal was poor. Rubbery beef, tough spuds, yesterday's chicken.. We didn't complain and we are not complainers but we left with a bad taste in our mouths and funny tummies the next day.

Feeling disappointed and riped off! My 2 friends and I go out for lunch once a month as we all have very demanding jobs/lives and it is our monthly release. I was recommended the Old Badger Inn (Eastington) by a friend (now questioning my friendship choices) and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. My one friend ordered the Gammon Steak and he said the Gammon was extremely tough to cut but the eggs were ok (ok being everyone’s basis when paying for food. Insert eye roll here) and the hard rock cafe had nothing on their peas. He was also very disappointed with the beer quality (he tried 2 guest ales). My other friend who is pescatarian ordered the blandest ‘garlic infused’ tofu sizzling plate (as recommended by the member of staff) that has ever had the misfortune to appear on a plate. This was worse than tesco bought ‘fajita kit’ and came with a very basic guacamole and Dorito salsa and a few chopped peppers and onions. For a gobsmacking £17!!!! We all ordered the creamy garlic mushrooms (which in all fairness were delicious – if a little basic). I was having difficulty deciding (always a bad omen) but I eventually settled on the fish pie as I figured it is difficult to do badly. How wrong I was! Along with my friend’s fajita it was so bland a cup of ice would have had more flavour and a better texture. It was a small pot of mashed potato and cheese that had been threatened by fish by getting some fish near it! So awful I asked for a refund (something in over 40 years I have only ever done twice before). I implore you don’t eat here if you are looking for quality or value for money. Weatherspoon’s is better food (which is a bold statement to make) at a quarter of the price. The Old Badger Inn need to seriously consider a new chef as our meals where appalling!

We visited for dinner, great local pub with a good atmosphere, and choice of beers and lagers., everything you want from a traditional English pub. The food we had was very good, well cooked and reasonably priced as well, and served promptly., and there is a good choice on the menu, plus daily specials as well. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, and we were made to feel very welcome. If you are in the area would recommend you visit this pub you would not be disappointed, we only found it on the last night of a two night break so we only ate here once, but the food and service was the best we have had when eating out for a long time. Our total bill for food and drinks was £60.00 so it is great value for money as well. A little gem!!

This is possibly my fourth visit to the badger for lunch. I still love the place itself and although not a beer drinker I am told that there is plenty of choice. I go for the Sunday lunch but have become less impressed with it since it has started to become a bit bland and the same as anywhere else. The red wine gravy used to really set it apart. Nonetheless I went again today as the service is good and portions, generous. However, today the usually gorgeous very large Yorkshire pudding had a very oily bottom. Literally sleeping with it. That and the lack of the extra Rich tasty gravy just made it any old Sunday lunch sadly. I did not give this feedback at the time as was not asked about how the food was.

My girlfriend, her mother and myself dropped into the badger early one sunday afternoon for lunch after checking out availability on their website and finding that " we operate on a walk in first come first served basis" We entered the pub and found a set table near the door (the elderly member of our group is disabled) that did not have a reserved sign on it. After a while i went to the bar to order drinks and AFTER the drinks had been poured i was asked if i had booked for food! I was then told that the table by the door was in fact reserved and that the only table available was at the back of the pub next to the piano (and t.v.) Although this wasn't really a problem despite there being stairs for the disabled pensioner in our group to navigate we relocated and were thankful that we had been found a table. My girlfriend was told that her hot drink would be brought over to her shortly. After a short while we were asked if we would like to order and we decided to order a halloumi burger each from the specials board and a beef dinner. After a few minutes the server returned to explain that the halloumi wasn't on the menu and that it should have been crossed off! i then asked about the cauliflower bon bons also on the specials menu and decided to go with that as it came with a salad. (according to our server) My girlfriend asked to order a childs portion of the vegan roast that was clearly written on the menu . Shortly after the server returned again to inform us that you could only order an adult portion!! My girlfriend at this point decided not to eat as the only other vegetarian option was a curry! (we are mid way through a heat wave) When the food arrived it turned out that the cauliflower bon bons was a STARTER not a main meal that consisted of two coated pieces of cauliflower and a few leaves. I had not been told this. My girlfriend at this point asked if she could have her hot drink as it still had not arrived. The only saving grace was that my girlfriends mother enjoyed her beef dinner which was cooked well and had a generous serving of vege. After we had paid it was noted that the halloumi burger still hadn't been crossed off the specials board. All in all poor service from start to finish. We wont be going back that's for sure.

Of an evening it’s full of friendly locals and visitors from further afield who are after a pleasant evening. The food is good standard pub food and very filling and the staff are really friendly. The best bit about this pub is it’s cosy, atmostoheric, old world feel that makes you want to squeeze into a corner and sit there all night eating, drinking and chatting away. It’s worth a visit if you’re in the area, particularly in these difficult uncertain times, giving small businesses like this a boost, whilst also boosting your own morale.

First visit to the Old Badger Inn with friends. I had reserved a table and we were greeted and seated and everything looked professional and friendly. We ordered drinks at the bar and returned to our table and a member of staff came to take our food order. I and one of our friends chose the beef roast and my Wife chose the pork and our other friend chose chicken. The food arrived and at first looked very well presented. It was not until we began eating and serving our veg that I noticed my beef portion was not as nice as my friends, being somewhat smaller and rather fatty. When we had finished eating the member of staff who took our order came to clear our plates and inquired if everything was ok. I said that I was not very pleased about my meal and he said he would mention it to the chef. Later this same member of staff came to take our dessert order which was duly served.Later we went to the bar to order more drinks and spent some time chatting as friends do.We then went to the bar to settle the bill and were served by the same member of staff who once again asked if everything was ok. I reminded him once again that it was pretty good overall except the issue I had with my meal. Now when you read this type of review, the management usually says, we wish you had mentioned something at the time and we could have done something about it.Well I did, on several occasions. An opportunity perhaps to offer a complimentary dessert, a complimentary drink or maybe a small token discount from the bill.None was forthcoming so for that reason, my first visit to The Old Badger Inn will sadly be my last.

I have been to the Badger a few times in the last 12 months and have found it quite pleasant. Decent food and good ale. However when we returned in early January it was a different story! We were given two menus at the bar and told we could order of either and told we could take a seat.A server arrived at our table quite promptly but told us one menu wasn't being used and also we couldn't order off the specials board (something to do with Christmas and supplies being low)!We ordered our food from the limited vegetarian choice available and I returned to the bar for a drink (the server hadn't asked if we wanted anything to drink) whilst at the bar I asked if I should pay for our meals and I was told I didn't have to I could pay for it all when I had finished the meal. On returning to the table the server had returned and was asking for payment from my girlfriend before we had our meals!it seems that if you are not a local regular then you are not trusted! This all left a sour taste in the mouth. we ate our food and left. not sure I will return.

A great lunch stop just under 2 miles from J13 M5.A warm welcome from friendly hard-working staff on a surprisingly busy Friday lunch. Many tables were reserved which shows the appeal. Dogs were welcome and water bowls provided. We kept it light and enjoyed a pear, stilton and walnut warm salad, a spicy flatbread and some gnocchi. Mainly from the Special menu. Good well kept beer.

Staying locally our host recommended the Old Badger, and we weren't disappointed. Good selection of meals which were all well cooked and presented. Also a great real ale selection. Bar staff were friendly and although the pub was quiet (early evening mid week) the atmosphere was nice. £100 with tip for a very good but not amazing evening out was pushing the upper limits on price for such a pub but overall we had a nice evening with nothing to complain about - which is what it's all about.

9 of us met here for Sunday lunch and we have all said we will go back again. The pub is very relaxing and friendly with a great atmosphere. Booking seems to be a must and we can see why - superb roast dinners. Generous in portion size, the meat was tender and each roast comes with a yorkshire pudding and cauli cheese as standard. Crispy roast spuds, plenty of veg for the table and a jug of extra gravy was provided. Really tasty and couldn't be faulted. The puddings were also generous, the only slight negative was the baileys was a little lost in the cheesecake and could have done with an extra glug!Looking forward to a return visit.

We’ve been visiting this pub on and off for the past 10 years under various owners and was a little concerned that certain recent reviews indicated a downturn. So we headed there for a midweek lunch and to see if this was the case. We were greeted warmly by a friendly pair of ladies behind the bar and were pleased to find a decent selection of real ales and an even better list of real ciders, both kept and served well. The menu was interesting, the specials similarly so, and we both enjoyed what we ordered. My husband had a huge burger which he manfully attacked; his only criticism was the chips which were a bit soft. My cod and king prawn fish cakes were really tasty, substantial and served with an interesting salad. The staff remained attentive and good humoured and the whole thing made for a pleasant and relaxed lunchtime outing. We felt we had left it too long since our last visit and will make sure we return again soon

What has happened to this once modern, local pub?? The outside now looks messy/dirty and unkempt. Under previous ownership, this place was a lively, pristine, foodie pub whilst maintaining that ‘pub feel’ Popped in with family after a long break, and oh my , how things have changed. Outside looks like a flash back to the 70’s, completely lifeless dead hanging baskets, flags, (something to to with the rugby, I think?), lazily hung across the front of the building. On entering to a moderately busy bar, the music was too loud too easily attract a member of the bar staff not that they were making that much effort anyway, one girl after serving someone their pint, immediately turned away and spent at least 2/3 minutes on her phone??...customer service anyone??After finally attracting someone’s attention, our table was pointed out, again lack of service/effort from staff unfortunately. After what seemed like an overlong wait, we had to prompt a waitress to take our drinks order, and eventually our food....Sunday Roasts. Well what can I say, food was passable, ok I guess but a world away from previous times, overcooked veg, meat was ok, potatoes so so. Like I said, just ok. For the prices, this HAS to be better. Kids just about finished theirs but they were starving. All In all, more effort needed, lots of young staff just floating around, staff congregating in the kitchen...I read some blurb online about the new management turning this place into a decent local...well it was before, more than decent, now it’s verging on spit and sawdust, how times change! Lots of emphasis on live music it seems?? We won’t be returning anytime soon. Such a shame.

Great lunch of sausage, mash and broccoli with a great onion gravy. Followed mint ice cream sundaes. The sausages were Gloucester old spot pork and very flavoursome. Good clean friendly pub. Plenty of parking.

I've visited this pub twice recently with friends and have been really impressed by the vegan and vegetarian main courses. The first time I had a lentil cottage pie with tenderstem broccoli which was amazing. More recently I had the cauliflower steak with Bombay potatoes which was gorgeous! My partner enjoyed the chickpea burger.

We visited 'The Badger' for lunch recently with some friends, who are regular visitors and rate the place highly. We were not disappointed. A warm and friendly welcome with very good, attentive service. Our food was excellent - generous, well presented, freshly prepared and flavoursome. It was a quiet lunchtime, though, so we have no idea what the experience would be like if it was very busy. Based on our lunchtime experience, however, we would certainly come again.

We visited this warm and cosy pub with a group of friends. Admittedly they were busy but we unfortunately found the staff to be pretty unaccommodating and inflexible and felt generally left to our own devices. The food on the other hand was lovely, although we felt quite over priced for the portion sizes.

There is a good variety of food, the special menu in particular. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hunters chicken was probably the best I have ever tasted.

Great pub with good selection of beers and friendly staff. Not too many people having Sunday lunch however, maybe £14.50 for a roast beef dinner is a bit too much?

we called in for a drink and stayed for a meal. The menu was good and the specials were particularly inviting. I enjoyed the tapas special as the portion was more than adequate for 1 and the arancini were unusual and delicious. The vegetables that accompanied my husband's meal were fresh and well cooked. There is a good choice of wine and beer and the staff are helpful and welcoming. There's also a garden which remains sunny into the evening. To be recommended

During our travel in UK and Wales this was by far the best meal we had for lunch! And we have tried quite a few pubs. They serve great local specialities. Particularly the burger was very taste and quite untraditional. Friendly staff. I would really like to go there again.

Visited after seeing it on the Youtube channel 'Roaming the Cotswolds' and after a walk around the common. As the vid had been taken on a foggy day, I didn't expect a view with my pint. It's worth the visit alone. Only had drinks and snacks, but staff were great and everyone enjoyed the sunshine in the rear garden, while dogs and toddlers played around us.

We enjoyed our Anniversary stay and meal at Hatton Court Hotel. All staff were polite, friendly and very efficient ensuring we had an enjoyable evening. The surroundings, atmosphere and ambiance were very pleasant. The menu had an excellent selection of food and wines to choose from, I enjoyed the crispy salt & pepper squid but in my opinion, after being served my ‘Bouillabaisse’ (fish stew!) I was underwhelmed, the lobster bisque was lacking flavour and missing the mussels (I didn’t initially realise there were none) the Sea Bass was very nice, but I did put in a late order of fries which arrived in no time at all. On the other hand my wife really enjoyed the Arancini, followed by Braised pulled beef feather blade. The bottle of Italian wine was very nice and paired well with the fish. We would not hesitate to eat here again, but my choice of mains would certainly be different.

While the food was very good. This Chinese all you can eat restaurant should be called the Chinese eat what the manager says you can eat restaurant .He came to our parties table with an aggressive and loud voice saying we had ordered to many dishes and to be aware of the £7a dish charge for uneaten food letting not just us but the whole know , so embarrassing and as a result members of our party left feeling hungry and at £25 per head this was not on . Will definitely never use this place again and could never recommend to anyone
