Every time I come to Derby I always have dinner at Okra, my favorite Indian restaurant.

Basic Indian food disguised as a posh Indian restaurant, tailoring food depending on their clientele (not in an authentic way).

60th Birthday with family & Friends We went on Friday night 28th March for my 60th Birthday. We were a party of 7 & although initially, there was a delay in getting our table ready due to a big party already there we were then very well looked after. The food is always brilliant here as is & was the service, all meals were delivered together & were very tasty & hot. The staff are super friendly & attentive but I’d like to give a special mention to our server Waleed who went above & beyond to make my birthday night special & even provided me with a sparkler birthday cake…….Brilliant night……We will be back very soon 😊

This place is a gem I have been eating Indian food for 30 years plus the starter prawn purée was amazing full of flavour. I then went for the chicken tikka balti It does have a bit of a spice kick for me but then I don’t do spicey food no fault to the guys they even offered me mint yogurt to cool off the spice. I had the deal where you get a starter main and either nann or chips with half of cobra for 20.00. Banging food bargain price well done all at OKRA I will be back when next in derby.

Tried a takeaway from here based on both just eat and Google reviews. Both curries we ordered actually tasted very nice i.e the sauce. Very flavoursome, tasty and one of them had the exact amount of kick I was expecting based on the description. Unfortunately, the rice was lukewarm, the naan breads were also lukewarm and a little on the dry side, but the worst issue was the very overcooked, very hard and very poor quality chicken used in one of the dishes. I could cope with the rice/naan, it happens, but we removed the chicken from the dish as it was that off-putting, unfortunately leaving just sauce with onions and peppers for one of our dishes. Quite disappointed and reluctant to try again based on this.

Best Indian I’ve had in a long time. Great value too. I had the early dining set menu which included a starter, main, side and a drink for £19.95. The lamb korma had lots of neat in it which was great. The waiter was very friendly too.

The food is great the staff are lovely. It was our second time here and it was just as good as we remembered. We were in Derby to see a band at The Flowerpot and we had been here last year for a meal so it was a no brainer to come back. We’re back in Derby next month and will definitely be back for another great meal. The lamb khumbhara is to die for.

Have a lovely experience at Okra tonight, it was my daughters 16th Birthday and they made a real fuss of her, they even dressed the table and supplied an helium 16th balloon which was a nice touch. The food was amazing and really tasty, plentiful and the whole night was very pleasant, it ended with a happy birthday cake and my daughter loved the attention from all the staff. Thank you for a lovely night and would always recommend going here for some amazing food.

The staff are amazing and can't do enough for you. They are amazing.

The food was excellent in terms of both quality and (very generous) quantity. The service couldn't be faulted either, especially as we were offered a complimentary shot of whisky to compensate for the noise of a nearby office party (which we actually enjoyed as they were obviously having fun). I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Indian meal in a pleasant atmosphere.

Absolutely fantastic food. I'm allergic to cinnamon which obviously isn't ideal with Indian food, but they were happy to talk me through the menu and make something fresh for me without cinnamon. Free Baileys at the end! Superb

Excellent early bird pre theatre meal for £19.95 of 2 course and a rice with a drink. Meals were very tasty and fresh, even though it was on a deal they were full portions. Will definitely be back and recommend.

Just had one of the best Indian meals ever. We dined in a very well appointed restaurant based in Friargate. We were treated to an excellent meal together with wonderful service from the staff members. This is not one of my regular curry houses but it’s certainly one that I will visit again. Great value great ambience and superb food. Highly recommended.

Being a food critic with years of experience in the trade. I was pleasantly surprised at Okra. From the ambience, service and most importantly the food, I can say it was an extremely positive experience. Don't take my word for it. Try it for yourself either for a few or a party. You won't be disappointed.

We came here on a Sunday for a 40th celebration, there was 23 and the service was excellent , all meals came fast and hot and they Coukdnt do enough for us , this is the third time we’ve been here as a big party and they are always extremely organised and friendly every time , we will definitely be back again .
