Ohisama in City of London, Westminster

I had a bento box, which was reasonably priced. Overall it is on the average side. First of all, the rice used is not the typical short grained rice that is fuller in flavour. Fish is slightly over cooked. Miso soup was simple but nicely flavoured however. I think the easiest improvement that can be made is to change to short grained rice that's typically served in Japan and Japanese restaruant.

It's not just Japanese food, it's carefully made. The staff were all pleasant and the store was clean.

This is a little gem in the heart of Marylebone. It was my first visit, just popped in to have a quick lunch on my own. They had a great selection of hot meals for lunch as well as sushi. Mackerel bento was delicious, filling, and miso soup was really tasty. The hospitality and BGM were perfect, and they made me feel at home. I can highly recommend this restaurant!

Sushi was unfortunately not very good. Staff were kind. But overall experience was average to bad. Sushi was saltiest I’ve ever had (even without any soy sauce) and many of the rolls fell apart when picked up. Ordered the Natto roll (I love Natto) and it was one of the worst things u have ever tasted. I don’t know what was wrong with it. Extra bits inside roll that was not mentioned on the menu. Could not eat any of it and was still charged for it. We didn’t want to complain or start any fuss but overall the food just wasn’t very tasty. Still drinking water for hours after from amount of salt.

Food is great but slow as they do a big business in take away. I go every time I'm in London. The sushi is worth the wait.

Honestly, an extremely weird experience. The food is excellent. The service is non existent. You walk in, seat yourself, sit down 10 mins until you flag a waiter to give you a menu. The food comes so so SO slowly, and meanwhile if you’re sat downstairs, you are listening to elevator music on repeat that makes time feel like it’s moving backwards. All the while, the restaurant was literally at 10% occupancy. There is a screen playing random Netflix show adverts. The whole restaurant is just plain mismanaged when the food is actually (EVENTUALLY) really good. Such a shame but honestly just unpleasant to sit there and wastes so much time. I’d recommend as a takeaway only. You don’t get to eat together if you sit there as the food comes sporadically with a dish every 25 mins on average. Madness. To add - asked to speak to the manager as they took nothing off the bill despite our complaints. He could not care less. Gave zero response - strange experience in every way

I was pleasantly surprised by this place; it reminded me of a spot I used to go to often when I lived in Tokyo. Modest atmosphere, kind + humble staff, excellent food with authentic flavours and quality ingredients. I only found it because I was passing by and thought I'd treat myself, so I only got a small nigiri set and some ocha... next time I will have to try the omakase! 🍣

I love this place and the food is the best Japanese food I’ve ever tasted. My wife was having a few procedures at London Clinic and I found this amazing restaurant while she was in surgery. I had their mixed sashimi and nigiri and the selection blew my mind. I’m going back as soon as possible.

Especially very warmed attendance by staffs and familiar wasyoku menues, we are healed so much!

This has become my favourite sushi place. The taste was amazing, the best i had in london. The restaurant is very nice and aesthetic, i would recommend, the tartar with caviar, salmon skin and the Watson. I had a few more, all the dishes were great, i’ve attached some images (the sushi in the ice bowl was a set sushi for £30). Pricing is very decent for the great quality. Will coming back soon!

No fault to the food, Sushi was great, made fresh in-front of you. If you sit at the bar. On the more expensive side but it is worth the extra money. Not very disabled friendly unfortunately but there is no way in the space they have to make it so. Staff were okay… it took a while to get drinks we ordered and they forgot the gin part of the gin lemonade twice. Quite a few beers and whisky’s were not available which was disappointing. One staff member was obviously quiet new and could do with a bit more training on the menu.

Looks small from the outside, but it isn't! There is another seating area downstairs. They have the most kind staff that I ever encountered in a restaurant! The sushi is very good as well, with lots of options. You can also order a small set of different sushi, if you can't decide.

Potentially the worst Japanese I hv ever tried. The dragon rolls has as big as half of my face. Total fiasco.

I can highly recommend this restaurant. We got 3 different rolls of sushi and they all were amazing. You can taste the fresh fish. In addition they have great mochi and teas. The service tonight was fantastic, super friendly and polite. I cannot wait to go to Ohisama again! 🫶

Went with a friend for a quick dinner. We've been coming here since 2016 but had ben a while. Sashimi, sushi and tacos were spot on. Black cod main wasnt as good but ok. Service is polite, friendly, but not attentive when its quiet downstairs.

Lovely spot for great sushi in London. Sat downstairs in the dining area and was treated very nicely by the staff. The food was delicious and fresh. The drinks were adorable and so was the presentation of everything. A very pleasant spot that I highly recommend!

An unexpected surprise... I ran in with my little girl who wanted to eat sushi. The place is decorated as a traditional sushi ramen, the chief is amazing, from Sri Lanka . The quality of the fish and sushi is great, one of the best sushi I have had. I can fully recommend it, sushi is made at the moment in front of you, go relax because it will take his time.

Waited over an hour for food. The restaurant was empty and there were three people in the kitchen but it never came. Was lied to by staff about how far away it was.

I went for lunch. After waiting over an hour for a sushi plate, and asking a few times when I could expect my food without any clear answer, I left.

The food was amazing every dish was unique and had their own flavour to it. The staff was very friendly, Deelaka san was a great help when it came to suggestions, and he delivered an excellent service for all of us. Will visit again for sure.

1.5 years ago, when I moved to this area, I fell in love with the Ohisama restaurant and came to dinner at every opportunity, also with friends, and recommended it, because there was always fresh natural fish and crab in the California rolls. But today, to my great disappointment, I was served California rolls with CRAB STICK for the first time. I’m very disappointed and upset as I wanted to enjoy my favorite dish this evening... When I reported this before taking the bill, the staff agreed that they really slipped me a crab stick today for the same price, but they didn’t even offer me a discount :( Unfortunately, this restaurant has lost its status as a favorite for me.

It is pricey but defenetly one of the best restaurants for quality and freshness of fish. They have dissapointed me very little times and I order very often from here. Edit- This is 3 months after and they increased prices absurdly all over. A salmon donburi bowl that used to be 16£ is now 22£ this is absolutely insane. DONT GO unless you are a billionare

A nice place to eat suhis and other Japanese meal. The chefs behind the bar make good sushis with fresh ingredients. A bit of waiting, and somehow the service wasn't excellent but ok.

What an amazing place! You’d miss this place if you walked past but it’s one of those low key places that you walk in curious and walk out super happy! This one is a 10/10

The best sushi in Hillingdon area. I have ordered here over 20x and never had one issue. Which I can't say for alot of other places in the area. It might be a little pricey but you are guaranteed an awesome meal

A small hole in the wall. Some of the best places are ! We sat at the bar and asked for some recommendations and none of them disappointed. The staff were friendly, food was lovely and a good experience. Only downside was they started mopping the floors towards the end of service. Yes we overstayed our welcome but washing with detergent and soaps whilst customers are still in is a bit unsafe .

Came here with the friend and we were blown away. Never had had sushi like this.

Bento lunch box chicken Katsu was superb, makes Wagamama’s seem like a McDonalds. Will definitely be returning again.

We had the nigiri combo and Today's special combo (Teriyaki skewers of salmon, chicken and vegetables). It was ok. Portion was sensible but flavour was a bit disappointing comparing to the price. Think it was about £20pp for lunch. Nigiri combo came with rice and edamame & pickles but I felt the separate rice didn't really go with anything.

I would love to recommend this sushi restaurant. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. They made it in front of you. I have had a really nice experience! Well done Ohisama team 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💃

Came for some sushi but was astonished with the quality of food and service I received in my time there. Especially the waiter with black bandana with skull patterns. He was extremely accommodating and always and look out whenever I was in need of something. Will gladly without a doubt recommend anyone who plans to go there.

Tonight was amazing, sushi and entrances were incredible. It was like the food was melting in the mouth. Recommended!!

Must say the place with mixed environment good and bad. The food is good and the way they are detail-oriented on plating is very good. Some staff are good and some are clueless. Like the way where the waiter was asking for drinks and desserts. Although they have sort of staff they give their best to attend customers. The waitress is really good and seems experienced. If I have to rate service staff I would give 4.5 to the waitress, 4 to the waiter with a white band and 2 to the other waiter because I order a prawn tempura roll but I got prawn tempura which was disappointing looks like he is clueless and doesn't know why he is there.

A very satisfying sushi place, need a little more training and knowledge about serving things like the wasabi, soba sauces etc. it’s not about big sizes or overflowing 😅. Don’t ever roll the wasabi too. 😅 But the staff are really friendly and doing their best. Go YouTube learn more. Food are fresh but sushi rice don’t seems to have Japanese rice vinegar in them. But it should be one of the best sushi place at this area.

The staff clearly is clueless. Apart from having to ask twice for a simple bottle of water. When we asked for the bill we asked to remove one item which we didn’t receive and the waiter just came with the item when we were ready to leave and said he couldn’t remove it anymore. It’s like if I go to a restaurant and while I eat for the dessert they bring me the pasta they forgot. Quite unacceptable in my opinion. And the sushi was nothing to die for. Ah and I asked for a cold green tea and received a hot green tea. Definitely not impressed.

Waiter are literally lost, we had to pay for item never received!! I can understand the lack of staff on hospitality, but there is a limit. If you guys want to eat sushi definitely do not come in this PLACE!!

I hate to do a 1 star review, but the sushi was not good at all. Service was slow, but I usually don’t fault the service if the food is good. We had several rolls and they were honestly some of the worst sushi rolls we’ve ever had. Quality of the food was very very disappointing. Will not return.

It is a shame that a place with such good food has forgotten its customer service and focuses mainly in its deliveroo/uber eats business. Ohisama is a small local Japanese restaurant with an ex-Nobu chef. To their credit, the food is always great and full of flavour. Their pricing is similar to that of Nobu, and the good is on par, but it is a bit much when you don't get the dining experience. Furthermore, the customer experience was terrible and it explains why there is always a table available. On arrival, we were shown to our table downstairs. After waiting for 5 minutes for a waiter to see to us, we sow one come down and asked him if he could take our order and he said he would come back in 5 minutes. It is odd as there were 8 or 9 staff upstairs. We ordered Yellowtail Jalapeño, Rock Shrimp Tempura, Tuna Crunchy Rice, Salmon Avocado, Spicy Tuna, Prawn Tempura and Chicken Teriyaki Inside Out Rolls. Starters all came one by one extremely slowly despite asking them to bring everything as soon as it was ready. The kicker came when our rolls were served to the table next to us. We realised it would be to coincidental for them to have the same rolls. After a few minutes the staff member came running down to take the rolls away as they made a mistake. We had to make it clear to him we wanted fresh rolls. What was weird is that rather than let the table next door keep the rolls free of charge he wanted to charge them if they kept them and if not he was taking them back to 'give to charity' he ended taking the rolls back. We went upstairs to ensure the rolls weren't reused and put on our plate, only to see they were scraping the rolls into the bin. Deplorable behaviour. The staff were extremely rude when we told them they shouldnt be throwing away the food if they told the customers they would give it to charity. We asked for the manager and out of all the staff present none of them was a manager. They said they could take our number and he would call us on Monday. After waiting a further 20 minutes our fresh rolls came. And we asked for the bill immediately as we were running late. Given the hassle and the rudeness, we thought they would have done something to right their wrong, but they did not. The waiter asked us what we wanted rather than offering a gesture which made us feel 'cheap'. They comped 2 rolls off the bill. Finally we settled the bill and left. I would recommend this place for good Japanese and a quick bite, but after the appalling customer service, I doubt I will recommend them again and I most definitely will not be going again.

Finally went with my partner after seeing this place a while back, and I've honestly been blown away. The atmosphere is lovely, with amazing staff and absolutely *delicious* food. We ordered a sushi set (Jo; the deluxe!) and an appetizer (the yubuki salmon), both of which surpassed all my expectations. Beautiful ingredients skillfully treated with care (I've never had tuna so lovely!), and the chef went the whole way as the yubuki salmon was taking a little bit by giving us a few extra nigiri on the house while we waited! We weren't expecting anything of the sort so it felt like a really lovely gesture. Had some mochi ice cream to finish which was also great! Overall amazing experience, absolutely worth the money and will definitely come again for a celebration! I'd give more stars if I could!! ⭐

Good value for money. Fresh food, good stuff, simple atmosphere.

This is the worst restaurant I ve been to. The salmon tartare was completely full of onion, which was the only flavor you could taste. The nigiri were covered by wasabi and most of the fish taste like soap. The only thing we could eat were the gyoza. The staff can speak just few words of English! We paid for all of this 90£! I strongly recommend everyone not to come here to eat

Visited today at lunchtime - empty store when my daughter and I came except for one takeaway patron. Ordered 2 lunch bento - maki selection for her and deluxe selection bento for me (15 + 25£). 100% agree that the service speed was slow - we were the only customers but waited at least 30 mins for food to come out. However, quantity was enormous - nearly couldn't finish it all. Fish cut was neat and miso soup was some of the best I've had in the UK. Neat presentation, nice tasting hot Kara age and gyoza. Questionable choice to serve sashimi on ice (v odd - no freshness issues with the fish to hide - all sushi should be served room temp) Overall a good price for feeling absolutely stuffed with standard sushi. I get the feeling not the place to try pieces I love to eat back in Japan (ikura, uni etc) but daughter was v happy.

Very very bad experience visiting the restaurant. The service is so bad. We ordered one thing and got the other. When we complained they didn't understand us and when we had to pay the bill and asked to pay for what we got - we got refused. A proper service would accept the mistake but they insisted no mistake were made. This is really really bad experience and we are so hurt from this behavior and service, would never set foot in it again - beware!!

Reasonable taste, Fancy dish design and way too long waiting for serving

We are quite disappointed with the food quality. My husband ordered a Salmon Don and I ordered a deluxe Don. The sashimi are not fresh enough, the soy sauce is not sweet Japanese soy sauce, the taste is not good. It’s not Japanese standard.

Not authentic Japanese food & decor, loads of rolls covered in sauces, strong flavours, some seafood lacking freshness, poor service.

Really enjoyed the food tonight, black cod is always a favourite of mine and it did not disappoint. The omakase was great too, very nice range and super fresh fish, the tuna was super fresh and you could tell just from looking at it 😃

Decent sushi at a reasonable price point for a simple lunch or dinner. Ordered the Nigiri set lunch with comes with a 5 pc sushi plus salad, edamame and a bowl of hot miso soup. Come here if u miss Jap food but not worth making a special trip if you are not around the area.

One of the best chicken Katsu curry's that I've had as well as one of the most expensive, it was worth it though. A generous portion too! I'd definitely visit Ohisama again

hidden sushi gem in baker street — great service, food presentation and quality! you can choose to sit at the bar or downstairs with sharing tables. my favorites to order were the rainbow roll, toro roll, spider roll, and dragon roll (great for sharing) 🍣 the only con is that the dishes are quite pricey — tried the mini chirashi don for £17 and the variety of ingredients and portion was not worth it. i recommend getting other rolls.

This is a very cute little sushi bar just off Baker Street which I was excited to try but unfortunately the service was sub-par and so was the sushi. The uni was old and just wasn't good, the soft shell crab roll was tasty but it had none of the actual crab in it just a few bits of legs. My partner ordered a sushi selection and thought it was descent but overall I would never recommend this place. It's far too expensive to be just a step above an itsu or other fast food chain type place.

Small, but just right... Central London prices - what can you say... But great quality... So you can't complain... I would recommend the Black Cod and the seaweed salad.

Great sushi for London! You actually get decent sized sashimi slices and all! The staff are very lovely and extremely helpful. However, I will advise people to stay away from the steak tartar, as it’s pretty much just an uncooked burger - not good.

Vege sushi was amazing. Mostly anything can be made into a gluten free option if you inform the staff at the beginning. The staff was very friendly.
