Oh My Cod in North Hertfordshire

I order at least once per week from here for my elderly relative. The order wasn’t delivered and when I called to enquire, firstly the girl hang up on me and then I received a second call from someone who said it wasn’t their problem and denied having any details for the driver. They are only interested in taking your money and not interested in customer service. They have an appalling attitude and I would give this shop a miss at any costs. Appalling and disgusting attitude from their staff

We came back for fish & chips after a year. Definitely didn't disappoint. I'm glad we came back. Fish & chips quality was 5*

Ordered through just eat had confirmation and delivery time waited bit longer called them couldn't understand and speak good english put somebody on phone who could they replied they not coming no apology I said sorry I've paid for food said not happy 10 minutes later after giving my name and address and still getting my name wrong said I send food in taxi never order again from them and food was also cold

We used to use Baldock chippie but last time it was awful, so this time we called here , parking was awful but the friendly staff and quality of the fish and chips was excellent,. As I wanted rock it was cooked to order it took about 10 mins but it was perfect the chips georgeous and my partner's cod was also excellent. If that was anything to go by I would definitely recommend it and use it again. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars was because of the parking.

Soggy chips. Watery gravey with not taste. Low grade scampi mushy, Young frozen lots better. Low grade Cod very small and batter not crispy

Over priced ! Half my order was missing , And very very rude customer service They have lost a customer !!

they have cut the size on everything.but not the price.paid for med cod & chips. got home to see it was small.i rang them.they said its med. mmmm wont be going there again

ordered 2 M fish n chips. portion was like a small size. used to get a nice size meal.but not no more.they they will find people will stop buying,if they carry on

Ordered food through the just eat app,didnt arrive had to send my daughters to collect,after between us ringing 32 times and them ignoring the phone,when my daughters got there they was told they had nit received any calls,even though we proved we had rung them,and was laughed at by the silly little girl who worked there,food was average wont use them again,bad experience and bad service

Tried this fish and chip shop for the first time, I ordered medium cod fish along with chips and a single portion of chips. One can only describe the portion size at best as extremely small, the fish was the size of four fish fingers laid end to end with the other two on top, the chips, remembering this was suppose to be a medium portion, would not have made a decent chip butty. I also asked for a bread roll, the young lady had a problem comprehending what that was, she asked a couple of times, “you want a bread roll”. Now the positive side, the chips were cooked beautifully, that’s it. My advice if you decide to spend your hard earned money at this establishment is, before you pay, check the portion size, paying for a medium size and getting an OAP mini snack is no joke. Or the other piece of advice is, go somewhere else where you get value for money, otherwise your only comment you will say after opening you fish and chips is “oh my cod” which is rather apt.

Never had a bad experience in this place. Food & service & price is great. Portion sizes good, the large haddock is humongous! Highly recommend.

Been here a few times and each time never fails to disappoint - 5 stars all day long. Chips are nice a fluffy, they have mastered the art of getting this down to a T.

Small portion of chips for the money but decent ones at that. You know what they say.....less is more!

On two of the occasions i have gone here to get chips I have overheard the lady who seems like she owns the shop being rude to young staff members. which is a shame as the other staff are all very friendly and the ladies son makes effort to chat to customers and be friendly. The chips here are delicious and the shop is always clean and organised.

Went to get lunch for myself partner son and mother, asked for no salt and vinegar, asked for 2 snack size cod and chips 2normal size cod and chips, got home, loads of salt and vinegar on all, no large cod only 3 snack size, slow rude service, tasted so awful my mother and I couldn't eat them, will not be going back and would never recommend!! Awful place!!!!

Popped in from the train, had to repeat the order 3 times, got home and still they hadn't got the order right. Sausages were so tough they'd obviously been there for hours and it was all cold, never again !!!!!

Friendly staff, efficient staff, tasty fish and chips at good price. What more do you want? Only difficulty can be parking as location is awkward.

Having been past the shop a number of times, I called in to purchase some cooked fish. The very large sized cod would have been classified as small elsewhere. It was virtually inedible and covered with tasteless batter. Never again.

It's soooo nice to find a fish N Chips shop that serves tiny little portions, with the obesity problem we now have in this country it's refreshing to now you can still get a takeaway that won't make you fat.

Ordered a large cod. It was dry and not large sized at all. More like a medium size IMO. May give it another try but first impressions aren't good. Note it's cash only at this place.

Great chippy. Use it frequently. Always good hot tasting food.. in our opinion the best around.. but beware this chippy is in the town of letchworth not hitchin. As shown on these pages...... Letchworth is not in hitchin. It is a separate town.

Me encanta el pescado y patatas fritas, así que decidimos entrar Letchworth un sábado por la noche. Nos condujeron rápidamente servido por una chica eficaz y fuimos en nuestro camino. Por desgracia, el pescado (tomado de una pila ya cocido) estaba seco y casi incomible, así que podíamos comer más a las aves en el jardín del día siguiente!

Visita de un lunes a mediodía para llevar de la familia. Excelente pescado (hicimos lo que ya estaba disponible) y las patatas fritas son encantadoras. El único aspecto negativo es que los guisantes blandos eran un poco estaban aguados ... por lo demás muy recomendable!!...

What a let down. Ordered large cod and chips and kids meal chicken poppers. Was informed after we paid for it was told they dont do kids meal any more. The large cod seemed to be a medium piece and the portion of chips was small and most of them undercooked. Definitely. the last time i use them

We often have the 'Snack Size and Chips' which is really good value for money. As mentioned by others, the batter on the fish is pretty good and the fish is well-prepared (mainly skinless and boneless). The chips are always well-cooked and generally the chips are a decent size.I agree it is the best Fish & Chip shop in Letchworth.

We live in a village outside Letchworth but always go here for our fish and chips. Lovely batter and always fresh. Would recommend this.

This chippy is a little hidden away from anyone not using Letchworth train station, but in my opinion the best one in Letchworth. Their food always taste fresh and their chips are not soggy and are generous with their portions. I had been using one down the road on a regular basis until they increased their prices while decreasing their portion sizes. Oh my Cod have very friendly staff and are good value for money, my only complaint is that they do not open on Sunday's! I really do belive if you taste the food from here you will continue going back.

This *just* qualifies as a cafe (since you can, should you wish, sit down at a table to consume your goodies...), but it's mostly a takeaway. But what a takeaway. The fish and chips here are divine. The former is particularly good... perfect batter, wonderfully fresh and filleted at the 'distinctly generous' end of the scale. Staff are also cheerful souls (or should that be 'soles' - ho ho -..?). My only quibble - why such an early closing time..? Hey-ho...

This is our regular chippie, and believe that this is the best place for veggie burgers in Letchworth! We always have the very nice veggie burgers, and 1 large chips (to share between the two of us). The chips could be improved by being drained a bit better (they are a little bit too much soaked in oil). Service is friendly and prompt. Speed of getting a veggie burger is fine (every chippie I have been to makes them when ordered; not like the fish which is kept heated), but obviously longer than for the fish, which is prepared and ready for the next customer walking in.Important:accepts cash only (no card payment possible); however, there are a number of cashpoints nearby.
