Oh My Cod! in Cheshire West and Chester

Great food, huge portions, something for everyone from 2 to 90 year olds. Friendly staff. Great menu range.

Just been today for lunch chips under cooked, batter on fish soggy and everything swimming in grease. Won’t be going back.

We’ve visited numerous times during the week throughout the years of working around helsby, and the fish has always been great. We have temporarily moved to the area and started to visit on the weekends, unfortunately on weekends it seems they do not use cod or haddock, this is the third time we’ve had fish and it’s been multiple layers stuck together to replicate cod/ haddock. I assume it’s whiting or another inferior fish! Very disappointing and misleading.

Called here on way into Frodsham. Ordered fish and chips and battered sausage and chips. Both the female staff are a tad rude and look grumpy and certainly don't smile. When I saw the cook ready to cook fish I asked her to leave the batter on mine, she said they did leave batter on only for her then to wipe it all off then drop it in fryer. Smooth battered fish isn't my cup of tea I like bubbly batter. When we got back to our car my husband physically couldn't eat the sausage as it was rock hard, however both lots of chips were edible so not so far off a waste of money. Needless to say after getting ignored and not good food we shall not darken it's doors ever again.

Absolutely Delicious... After visiting once and having such a great experience this is now my go to chippy. Helpful staff, fresh food cooked right infront of me nothing to much of a problem (asking for lightly battered fish etc) with chips peas and curry 😋 Had to return ... this time it was Friday tea and wanted something different, member of staff recommended the salt & pepper share box 📦 Wow... just wow ... Can't wait for chippy tea night again...I know where ill be going 🤸‍♀️🤪👐

Often drove past and never called in. Big mistake, lovely fish and chips and fish cooked fresh to order. Staff very friendly. Now my chip shop of choice

great food served all the time and served by friendly staff. good variety of dishes available. always really busy in there that must show just how good the food is

Today I rang and ordered fish, chips, mushy peas & curry sauce I was told they would be ready at 5:45 - I was still there at 6 p.m. Got home and the chips were just bits, there was about 4 whole chips, the curry sauce was just water. The fish was ok.

Fancied a fish and chips and noticed this was near popped round and loved every bite. Fish crisps and big portions. Will be back

Oh my Cod Does amazing fish dinners, but I fancied something different, so chicken kebab for the mrs and mixed kebab for me, only got 1 portion of chips, thought I should maybe order two, the kebab were generously filled with so much meat we couldn't eat it all. Glad they are going to open Sundays to see how it goes. I also got a taster of the curry of the week, it was Balti and lovely. Great job, it is hard to find a takeaway open at 15.00 and even harder to get kebabs at that time. Many thanks. Jules

Always enjoy the food here, my husbands favourite chippy in the area, great staff and reasonable prices.

Popped in for a quick bag of chips to be greeted with children and family members of oh my cod outside making lots of noise, climbing on cars and being anti social. Normally this wouldn’t bother me but it felt intimidating and really did bring the tone of the street down. Staff are unprofessional and rude, arguing and quite frankly not sure food is cooked properly or handled hygienically. Please also note this establishment only takes cash. To me that’s inconvenient and a little dodgy in this day and age. My advice. Don’t bother go to another chippy save yourself the hassel of reheating your food and stay away

the food is still lovely but tonight we called for fish and chips on way home and one of the staff was eating a cream cake with her fingers - nothing wrong with that but when she finally realised i was waiting to be served she put her cake downn licked her fingers and wiped them on her not so clean pinny and proceeded to take my order - no sanitising of her hands -

Called for pre order take out this evening as main meal takes a while to prepare. Arrived a few minutes early staff hadn't started the main meal but side order, chop sui role was already cooked, I asked would it not be cold and they assured me they could keep in hot. See photo, when I got home, (2 min drive) the chop sui role was welded to the paper and uneatable. 3 staff in, Male cook had face mask dangling around his neck whole time. 2nd member kept taking hers off to answer private phone the third member wore hers. None of the 3 staff washed their hands, they served 3 customers handled cash, then touched food, reported them to food hygiene this evening. No sign of them trying to clean between customers. Dreadful place

They are very rude there should only be 3 people in the shop at any one time. There was more than 3 in the shop but states on the window only 3 people in at once. The staff were taking their masks on and off whilst customers were waiting, there were also children behind counter. They didnt sanitise their hands after handling cash during the current circumstances. The chips were not cooked and had no colour to them, found 2 stones in my fish and chips.

Food had close to no taste, chips were like cardboard and not fully cooked. Staff were rude and patronising.

We love going here, surprised at some of the reviews on here. The fish is always fresh , cooked perfectly and batter is tasty, so are the chips and mushy peas. Large portions that you could easily share between two. The staff are always pleasant...

Great food and great prices. Friendly staff, always have a laugh and a chat with us whenever we visit. Always our go to chippy when in the area. Very hygienic.

First of all it’s very expensive! The most expensive chip shop I’ve ever visited. The fish was extremely bland and incredibly soggy. The chips and mushy peas just had no flavour either. Two fish and chips and a carton of mushy peas for £14.50 and...

Still disorganized, still no proper or clear queuing system, still no contactless payment, still empty boxes/rubbish on the floor behind the counter. We gave it another go after a few months of opening, and regret to say our experience was the same as our last...

Generous portions. Fish is cooked to,order and crisp. The cod is fresh, white and has great texture.

Chips are perfect the best yet!!! However the curry sauce it not my liking. It’s too fruity and not like traditional chip shop curry sauce.
