Very friendly staff. Great chips and fish goujons. Good price and quick efficient service. We will definitely be back.

Popped in as we were driving past and ordered two cod and chips. Ask how long it was going to be and was told 7/8 minutes, which was great. 25 minutes later we were actually served our food. There was no customers in front of us. If they had said 25 minutes then we would have probably gone else where, but was told 7/8 minutes. The food was plentiful and nice but not outstanding. I will not call in again as the wait is far too long.

A beautiful dinner! Always have fantastic fresh food from this establishment. They have a wide variety of food on the menu and meet ALL dietary needs including vegan and gluten free!

Can’t recommend this place highly enough!! Was in Brighton for a conference and I had Fish & Chips everyday. I even converted colleagues to loving vegan chippy (despite being carnivores!) Fresh, well flavored, good sized portions and all vegan choices- at my happiest!

Stopped off on a whim fancying fish and chips for lunch. Small fish and chips was plenty big enough, great portion size. Perfectly cooked fish, cooked to order. Lovely crispy batter and no sign of any grease. Perfectly blonde chips with a light crunch. Really enjoyed my lunch. The guy serving was the owner, very friendly, nice guy. If you’re driving past or live locally, pop in. I’m lucky enough to live locally so am also partial to a donner or mixed kebab on occasion. Haven’t tried the pizza yet. Food is always good, would highly recommend.

I have ordered Meaty Pizza and I have to say one of the best pizza I ever had and chips is delicious crispy very testy and good customer service.

We were in the area longer than expected and was told to check out this chippy. Despite being 15mins before closing the service was fantastic. I asked if there was an OAP meal (which there wasn’t) but the server said he’d make sure my dad had a good meal. The cod goujons and the rest of the seafood meal was fresh, appetizing and tasted awesome. The chips were cooked fresh and well worth the wait. Will definitely be back next time we’re in the area.

I went to off the hook for lunch and had haddock and chips. Thr Haddock was creamy and the crispy batter was tasty chips were good portions.

We are new to the area so thought we’d try out a local takeaway and were really impressed! We both had s pizza and they were delicious, exactly what we wanted and there were lots of options, including gluten free (on certain days) and vegan! The staff were really friendly too! Will definitely return and looking forward to trying more on the menu! :-)

Purchased a Small battered sausage and chips with 2 tartare sauces , the chips where very green with worm holes in them , the sausage was dry and crispy like it had been stood for days and judging by my calculations the tartare sauces cost 87.5p yes .5 p each ? i feel very let down i really is not what it used to be

Throughout the pandemic, we ordered fish and chips online for delivery with no problem, although the website is clunky and stressful to use. The last time, I ordered through the Off the Hook website at the end of February, I placed the order, the money was taken from my account and I had a receipt from Viva Wallets. One hour later, no food had arrived, so I called the shop and was told no order had been received. I explained that money had been taken from my bank account and a receipt obtained clearly stating £26 had been paid to Off the Hook. The rude man I spoke to asked me to email him the receipt, which I did. But he said no money had been credited to his bank account and he would not do anything unless I provided a copy of my bank statement, which I was not prepared to do, as I had given him clear evidence that I had paid for the goods. So I am still £26 down and will need to pursue this through the banking system. In conclusion, utterly appalling customer service and they have fraudulently taken my money.

Took ages to get here. Cold, chewey fish. Over priced. Night ruined. Don’t bother. Even the driver agreed it is an appalling service. The actual cost was more than twice what I made it. Never again.

Tried again, always like to give the benefit of the doubt. Absolutely dreadful food again. Chips were rock hard, battered sausage soggy and nasty. I wasn’t expecting a La carte dining but come on. It’s also obvious many of the positive reviews on here are fake! AVOID AT ALL COSTS, NEVER, EVER AGAIN!

I gave this place a 2nd chnace after having awful food about 3 months ago. I wish I hadn't bothered! Ordered 2 small fish to be given only 2 tiny slithers of fish (mainly batter) and then noticed the server adding goujons. I said I wanted 2 small fish, but she said this was what I was getting. I pointed to 2 small fish in the heated area and asked for those, only to be told they were large fish. The new large, used to be the old small and cannot believe this place is still as bad as some months ago. There was virtually no white fish within the stodgey batter and some of the fish was grey. I'm sorry, will never be back again. I gave it a 2nd chance, but never again. Can we have the original owner back please!

We have supported this fish and chip shop for years. What an earth hS happened to it? We arrived at 9.20 pm 30th December, 40 minutes before closing. We were two cars, two families as friends over from Australia. We took our friends staring how fab it was. How embarrassing! There were no other people there, was kept waiting 40 minutes for 2 portions of chips and child portions of fish goujons and chips. Chips were definitely old and reheated and tasted like there was sand in one portion. 40 minutes for the worst food I've had in a long time. Our friends spent alot of money there for their food and asked why it took so long? They also said that the food was very greasy. I threw my chips away because something definitely in with them. Appalling. Has this place changed hands as this was such a bad experience. Our Australian friends asked "are they out catching the fish"? Had we not driven home I woukd have taken it all back!

The chips tasted like they had been cooked on old oil. Ordered small cod. When I got the food home, the cod was very small (shaped more like a sausage in batter). £7.75 for that is a disgrace.

Called restaurant to order takeaway as they were offering buy one get one free on pizzas. As I’m coming to the end of veganuary, I was excited to try their vegan pizzas as a treat. Unfortunately the vegan pizzas aren’t included in the bogof deal (no word of this on their website btw) because they ‘cost more’. This makes no sense because a) they don’t - the pizza I wanted was £11.50 and the non vegan pizza my husband wanted was £12.50 and b) don’t you pay for the most expensive one?!?! Terrible customer service. Lady that answered was rude so we took our custom elsewhere.

We decided to try Off The Hook for the first time last night.Ordered over the phone and given a time to collect.Both ordered Cod, one small and one large with chips.The order was ready on time. Great service.The fish was really lovely. The best we have had in years.Great taste and fresh. Chips were good too.We will definitely be back and highly recommend.

My son and his girlfriend ordered on the phone a pizza and a side of chips, for collection. They saw online the prices and added it up to £12 for a pizza and the chips. But when they went to collect the bill had upped in price to £16!!! They paid even though they knew they had been overcharged, the pizza was a total wreck! It literally looked like they had chucked it about before giving my son and his girlfriend there pizza, only discovered this when they got home. E-mailed them to have a complain. And basically called me and my son and his girlfriend a liar and that we caused this state of the pizza! And not even saying sorry for being overcharged, they dealt with this so badly!!! I was a long term user of this place for treats every now and then for my boys, sadly never again! Poor customer service off the hook!!!!! Even helped you out in these dark times of covid wish I would of helped out a more deserving local chippy! Very unhappy EX customer!!!!!

Do not waste your money! Thick soggy batter on the cod. Tasteless chips. Seafood basket - all over cooked. Very disappointing. The staff tried to tell us there was nothing wrong with the food.. Avoid.

No hemos utilizado esta conclusión antes y lamento decir que no lo haremos de nuevo. Mi marido tenía pescado y patatas fritas porque lo que vio parecía crujiente y fresco. Bueno, realmente no me puedo quejar de la comida, aparte de una pequeña queja, la masa en uno de los peces era demasiado espesa, por lo que estaba húmeda y grasienta. Mi única queja es sobre el servicio al cliente. Encontré que el caballero que creo que es el dueño es muy brusco y grosero. Si viviera localmente, me desanimaría de regresar.

Sunday evening found us having had a busy day, so around 7pm I popped down for our evening meal.

Recientemente tuvimos un evento social de trabajo y queríamos encontrar un negocio local que pudiera ofrecer. Pude pre-ordenar sin problemas, fueron muy amables y atentos en el teléfono. Al final, pedimos 18 pizzas de variedad variada y también nos dieron 4 cajas grandes de papas fritas de cortesía cuando se entregó la pizza. Las pizzas llegaron exactamente cuando se especificaron, estaban bien calientes y recién preparadas. La pizza no era grasienta y no era demasiado pesada, lo que era genial y los ingredientes y ingredientes en general eran de buena calidad. We called in after driving back from Devon only around 8.00 pm, wish we hadn't bothered the cod well it could have been sprat or boot leather dried out and over cooked the batter was totally inedible And the amount of grease in with the chips I saved to do the next 2 oil change in the range rover, Even the dog turned her nose up at it with a look of disgust at us, The 2 girls behind the counter were to busy talking about the lad one had just served we had to repeat our order 3 times. living in the village we now understand why the locals go to Eynsham. Once bitten you know the saying, please don't waste your money

We have had fish & chips from this very clean and tidy shop a number of times and were never disappointed. Last night we tried their delivery service. The meal came more quickly than they said it would and as always was very good. Best chippie in the area by far. Generous portions, real home made chips and the fish was firm and tasty. Not a restaurant, but for a chippie 5 stars!

Stopped in on the way home from work for a fish and chip supper. I don’t think I can describe how bad this meal was! The chips tasted as though they were old and had been refried. The fish was greasy. The shop itself is immaculate and the food is wrapped in branded bags. I think they spent all their money on the shop and forgot about the food. Had to throw the supper away it was so awful.

Amazing food, great menu, delivery service is 100%. Kept in contact if running slightly late. Used many times with no faults. Pizzas are out of this world!

Have been disappointed with the fish and chips recently so tried the meat pie and chips, haven’t had one in ages and I remembered how good they are.

Always heard good things about this place, so the other Friday we were passing so decided to wait the 15 mins till it opened, the shop itself looks the part, nicely done out, clean etc. I ordered £16 worth of food, the kids nuggets didn’t look very nice, my pie was cold and very average, the chips that I assumed would be fresh and amazing as it was 1st fry of the evening were horrible! They must have been left over from lunch whilst I am surprised they still do this sort of thing. Doubt if we will return.

Been here sever times as we live in the area but noticed recently how expensive it’s got. Tonight we ordered a large haddock and chips and that alone was £8.90 - it’s a takeaway! You can get a good fish and chips served on a plate, in a pub with cutlery and condiments for £12 down the road!!! Food is always tasty, but not sure it’s worth the hefty price tag!

The best fish and chips in west Oxfordshire I have had almost everything on their menu and would recommend them to everyone. They even accommodate people who can't have gluten and have a gluten free mondays.

Booked a takeaway from here tonight, fish and chips, sausage and chips, cheeseburger and chips and a single portion of chips, the portion sizes were very large and all the food was enjoyed by all of the 4 in the family who ordered, also came very hot even though they had to bring it 4 miles to us.

Always polite and friendly. Service is usually efficient, and they offer more choices than your average fish and chip shop. The quality is far superior to most too.

Well we tried the pizza’s tonight. And I must say it was chaotic. My husbands pizza has no pepperoni on it and was asked 3 times what he wanted. And still got it wrong !! Not great. Maybe better staff etc needed. Won’t be rushing...

This was our first try of the pizzas that Off the Hook has recently started doing. I had a meat extravaganza and my girlfriend, who is coeliac, had a gluten free margarita pizza. We were both really pleased with our pizzas, which had generous toppings and had a lovely thin base. My only criticism is I turned up not knowing they only take cash, and had to find a cash point in the village. We will be back soon, and look forward to trying their gluten free fish and chips on a Monday!

Have visited off the hook often when in the village of Long Hanborough. Always friendly staff. Reasonable prices for nice hot food.

Nice for a cold winter night, set in the village just round the corner from where we were staying so very handy when all the local pubs and restuarants were full due to Blenheim Light Show.

If you like fish and chips. This is the place to get them. Sausage in batter is a must try alternative. Slightly spiced sausage. Wonderful flavour.

After reading some of the reviews I thought it would be worth a spin. I'm more than a little fussy when it comes to fish from a chippy, it has to be juicy and thick flake also the batter has to be crispy on the outside and slightly softer on the inside. Off the hook ticks all the boxes and it's all packaged in a box that doesn't leak any grease if there is any of which there was very little. All in all well done very tasty will be coming back for more soon.

Great take away which we go out of our way to go to and beats most but take cash. Catchy name, good looking interior and easy to park.

I have visited Off the Hook 3 times in the last few months and have been pleasantly surprised on each visit. This is why:Fantastic customer service.5* hygiene rating.Portion size generous and quality of fish (and chips) fantastic....What more could you want? I truly believe this is the best fish and chip shop in Oxfordshire and will definitely return in the future when fish and chips is on the menu for dinner! Keep up the good work Off The Hook!

More expensive than most, but well worth it. The fish was delicious and fresh, chips very tasty. Their homemade tartar sauce is yummy and the mushy peas taste homemade and delicious flavour but on the watery side. Good sturdy packaging. Will be back. Options below don't quite fit as this is purely take-away.

Having been down to Poole and had fresh Haddock & Chips on Sat night we needed a quick dinner tonight. So we went to our usual chip shop. Boy what a let down and we thought it was good before!. The difference was very noticeable comparing Haddock the Poole fish was soft and the flakes were defined and melted in your mouth, where as the Off the hook Haddock was dry harder and clearly not very fresh as it didn't separate and it clumped together. The batter from Poole was amazing light crisp and simply delicious the off the hook was heavy stodgy and not cooked in the middle next to the fish. The chips were cold tonight and no where near as good as they were on Saturday.Off the hook need to pay Nick the fish from Poole a visit and pick up some tips of how it should be done properly. Because Nick the fish is clearly an expert and now I yearn to revisit Poole.

I have had a few take aways from off the hook and it's all home made and I would say the best fish and chips in west Oxfordshire definitely recommend them for a quick cheap meal.

I went to this place a few years back and thought for fish and chip shop about as far from the sea as you can get in England it was excellent . I am off aboard tomorrow so thought I would have some really nice fish and chips for lunch, I know the place shuts at 2 so made a special effort to get there in time and a arrived at 1.45 the completely disinterested Eastern European guy said that he had turned the heaters off so all that was available was a precooked small one sweating under his light . This place is not cheap and if they are simply going to give you some semi cold and stodgy piece of fish ,not even in the size you want it is not worth the bother - I left it and will never return

Really good crispy outside and fluffy inside chips and perfectly cooked really meaty fish.Hot and not greasy. Even the mushy peas are good.Lucky to have this takeaway in the village.

This place is amazing! The chip shop was only 200 - 300 yards away from our accommodation and was recommended to us by a local (so i new it would be good). We had a small cod and chip and the portion was not small at all, i could finish it all but really wanted to because it tasted so good! The fish was a decent size and you could tell good quality. The staff were really friendly. Just a shame we don't have a lovely F&C shop like this were i live (although if we did, i would be as big as a house because i'd go there all the time).

When I first visited the shop the food was great white freshly cooked fish andcrispy batter. Chips were great.. Had to wait a while but you pay good money and get great food so it was worth the wait. It became a regular thing on a Saturday lunchtime after work.. Alas not now months on wards the shop has gone down hill. Only last Thursday I popped in for two pieces of cod. Cost £9.20 or £9.40...Drove back home and so looking forward to our meal. We found the batter to be soggy. The fish off white and very tough and stringy. All the signs of being cooked hours before. Obviously left over from lunchtime and reheated. I asked the young girl before I ordered was it cooked that evening and she replied yes... It was awful and I will not be using Off the hook again!!! Madley park is far better as is Hailey road.Shame because when they started off they were the best around...

Had just returned from a long journey, wanted something quick as couldn't be bothered to go shopping.Fish and chips and sausage and chips. Fish was cooked to perfection, batter not too thick. Sausage was the best the other half had tasted in a long while.Well done. Just wish it wasn't so expensive, we'd go back more often.

I live in the village and have had takeaways from here but my last visit on Monday 12-09-16 was poor the chips were fine But the Fish had been re-heated the batter was hard and solid and the fish was grey. this is a sign that it had been warmed up from the dinner session. I have until now been very pleased with the quality but will be returning to Smarts next time.

This Fish and Chip shop came into the Long Hanborough Village offering a new experience. Better food and better quality, but think it has changed hands since as the chips are more like Smarts chips and stuck together.I do however like the way the food is packaged and baged, and the decor inside gives the feeling of a posher chippy, but like I said, seems to be going a little down hill.When it opened the queues were out of the door, lately, its a sporadic customer.Must improve again 'Off the Hook'
