“Best breakfast I have ever had” this was the quote from my friend who enjoyed the full breakfast. He also said, before eating that people “shouldn’t mess around with beans” happy, I suppose, with the usual Heinz breakfast staple. Reader, he changed his mind. My breakfast was also ace. The friendly staff and laid back atmosphere made for a terrific brunch

My friends and I come here all of the time, such a cute little spot. Fridays and Saturdays they offer a larger menu than usual and it is fantastic. My recommendation is always the godfather bagel!! Insane variety of vegan baked goods too. Amazing team in there who are always smiling really amazing coffee shop.

An absolute gem of a coffee shop. The town is lucky to have it. It's a vibrant cool hub, full of great coffee and tasty treats. Their bagels are unreal, as is all the food we've had over the years. So fresh and high quality. The team are fantastic, always friendly, and always accommodating for children when we've visited as a family.

Tried off the ground for my birthday brunch last week with the intention of getting the French toast. I’ve got a sweet tooth, but it wasn’t on the menu last week so I ordered the halloumi bagel and latte instead. I’m really picky, vegetarian and not really a coffee person so I was apprehensive but it was all delicious. My boyfriend’s not easily impressed but had the poached eggs and a latte/macchiato hybrid he requested and was extremely happy with his food. The staff were so lovely and the atmosphere of the establishment as well as the decor etc was 10/10. We felt happy and comfortable being there and thoroughly enjoyed our visit so absolutely will return.

By far, this is the best place on Teesside for a mega lunch. The best Bagels in the area by far and absolutely mega coffee & desserts. Amazing service, amazing atmosphere and an absolute hidden gem!

My partner and I come here almost every Saturday!! Even on their busiest days, we get our food and drinks quickly, and staff always have time for us ❤️ On the (very rare!!) occasion mistakes have been made with our order, the issue is rectified quickly and professionally. Big shout out to El, Sam, Chris, and the rest of the staff, Josh, you have a mint little team!!!

I’ve been going to Off The Ground once a week for well over a year now. They never fail to impress. Their food (bagels in particular) are insane, they’re super friendly and always provide top tier service. Nothing is ever hassle and I’ve had zero issues with any food or drinks over the years. I have been in cafes all over Europe and in London and Edinburgh. This is quite simply the most customer friendly, most atmospheric and interesting cafe I have ever been in. The food is delicious too.

For a true lesson in hospitality, please go visit Off The Ground…..doing it all for the right reasons- to serve great coffee, ace food, perfect bakes, all done consistently well, without fuss, without egos and from really lovely human beings. A true gem, Boro would be lost without them. And we didn’t even mention the bagels! 🥯

Such a lovely little space! We have visited a few times now. On our last visit we took our little girl, who was greeted by a lovely member of staff who brought over some stickers for her to choose from (which made her day) she was also very very pleased with her chocolate brownie! Food & service has been amazing on all visits, we will definitely be back. X

Paying £5.60 for a chai latte and getting this is not acceptable. The drink was underfilled, bitter, and worse of all filled with tea leaves which were poorly strained when they dumped the tea into the cup. Absolutely no attempt to add frothed milk on top to make it a proper latte. Waited about 10 minutes and watched as this was hastily put together, but at that point didn't have time to say anything and just left. I will say other people's food and drinks looked really nice, I wish I just received the same quality.

Easily the best cafe in Middlesbrough! Staff are incredible, food is just as good and consistent every time we visit. Delicious and extremely affordable given the quality.

Not exaggerating, some of the kindest staff members I’ve had the pleasure to be served by. We were a large group and they couldn’t be more accommodating, then no request was a bother. Very child & dog-friendly - waitress brought our little one some stickers! 10/10 experience and we’ll deff be back.

What an amazing place. Enjoyed a lovely brunch here with friends and it exceeded expectations in every way. Food cooked fresh but delivered quickly and really friendly staff. Im just sad I don't leave closer so I could have this as my regular breakfast spot.

An authentic coffee house and bottle shop. Brunch, light bites and Bagels - the best of ingredients. Organic flour Kieran uses for daily made bread and bagels. Hot chocolate is super yum. And the coffee. Spoilt for choice in hot drinks and the cookies they make to suit special diets. I feel off the ground having found here in Grange Road. Chilled music and good WiFi. My daytime place to go in Mbro.

We went for lunch and got the ‘NY Reuben’ and ‘Birra Tha’ bagels and they were incredible. The meat was cooked to perfection, the bun was soft and everything was very tasty. The staff were chatty and friendly, which made the already pleasant atmosphere even more enjoyable. There is a wide variety of books of books towards the back of the café, which can be freely picked up and read as you enjoy your food. Awesome food for very reasonable prices, I would recommend this place to anyone. :)

I was impressed at the selection of bagels. I had their NY Reuben and was not disappointed. I would definitely go back and recommend this place. The coffee was also amazing.

Welcoming place with friendly staff and a relaxing atmosphere. Coffee tasted great and they provided free water which I thought was a nice touch. There was no pressure to leave or order again once we'd finished our drinks either, they are okay with you chilling and chatting. The food is great and tastes delicious, it's made in house, and there are vegan options too.

My absolute FAVOURITE place to go in town for coffee and food. Their coffee is the best, their food is delicious. The bagels are to die for 😍they do delicious sweet treats too, their new York style stuffed cookies are amazing. The staff here are always so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Will always come back to them as they are the best!

A great addition to Middlesbrough town centre. Has taken me a while to get to this place but I was so pleased to visit last weekend. Dog friendly and a really inviting space. We shared a bagel (beef birria) and the French toast which was lemon meringue inspired and was absolutely incredible. Coffee is great too!

I stopped in here after searching Middlesbrough for a non chain cafe that I could find somewhere cosy to sit and read a book with cake for a couple of hours. The staff here were so welcoming and the vibe was great!! I'm only sorry I live so far away because I would have loved to go back! The only reason I am marking it down is because of the plastic cups..I totally get it, but I would have preferred a china cup for my tea so it didn't go cold so quick

Went for a brunch, had the eggs on bread and a latte, was absolutely beautiful, tasted amazing, the poached eggs were perfect as was the in house baked bread, the seeds added had different tasted when crunched and made such a simple meal so tasty! Latte was perfect temperature which you don't normally get. Atmosphere was very relaxed. Only one toilet which was clean and had a blackboard with drawings, didn't see any chalk to add like ha! Shall definitely visit again.

I haven't been up home for 2 years and having been born and bred in Middlesbrough I am sorry to see the town a shadow of its former self, however we found this little gem while out looking for breakfast..amazing food, the salf beef bagel is the best I have tasted outside Btick Lane. The Home Alone (Hallumi) was tasty and perfectly cooked. I would highly recommend this independent cafe! We may be back tomorrow!

LOVE this place, the bagels are out of this world. Visited today for the third time and honestly can’t stop thinking about how good the Birria bagel was 😍🤤 everything is made in house too which is awesome! The staff are lovely and really helpful. A definite boro gem 💎. 100% recommend!

Whenever I saw the cafe from afar I wondered if only students are allowed or is it a study space. I gave it a visit today and man I spent really good couple hours. Though a bit busy the space is calm and filled with work or quite time type of energy. Staff and food is good too, not many options though but whatever they provide is simple and good. I tried dark hot chocolate with brownie and later got a Halloumi bagel. First the hot chocolate was just perfect. Some places make it quite hot and one I had here is my second favourite yet! It was creamy and warm. The bagel was nice for some reason. Can’t rate it as I had bagel and halloumi for the first time 😭

Truly the loveliest place for breakfast in Middlesbrough. Bagels, breakfasts and lots of choice. Coffee choice is amazing and always a quality coffee served. Staff are lovely and attentive, food amazing!! My favourite weekend treat.

I have been coming here for a number of years, and it just keeps getting better. There is nowhere else locally like it!! Perfect coffee, outstanding bagels and yesterday I had the French toast... wow.

We visited today as a family, the food was amazing, the coffee was perfect and the staff were so lovely, especially with the kids. I had the OTG BLT bacon and cheese bagel with chilli jam - home made bagel, everything tasted so fresh. My wife had the French Toast - beautifully presented and served hot. The kids had poached eggs on toast and loved it too. Hot chocolates with marshmallows went down a treat and the coffee was 10/10. The staff are so friendly, my kids got offered stickers and extra marshmallows, and everyone checked on us, made us feel welcome and we got a cheery bye and thank you as we left. I’ve been here frequently for years and the quality and service is still top tier.

Personal favourite cafe. I'll come here any time I have the excuse to. Drinks are great, definitely try the bagels if you can afford it. Menu's a bit pricey, but well worth it

Second time visiting, and the first time , I tried they bagels (Brisket with sauerkraut). Wow, fantastic blown away. How good the food is at this place. I'll 100% be back to try others. I tried Biscoff cookie too lovely.

The food is out of this world. Good quality ingredients, cooked to perfection. There was a great selection of homemade cakes & biscuits. The staff are warm and friendly. Despite being busy, the atmosphere was calm, relaxed and quite enough for a conversation. We will definitely return for a second visit.

Visited for the first time on Saturday and was honestly so impressed! Bagel was to die for.. coffee was absolutely unbelievable and the lovely lady behind the counter was an absolute gem with my 2 year old nephew 🥹 will definitely be back!

Visited today with my husband and son for lunch, we all got a bagel they were absolutely delicious! I also got a chai and loved it the way its served is lovely too. Looked like there was only two staff working at the time and they were brilliant considering it was so busy even took the time to come over and give my son a sticker which he hasn't stopped going on about. Also the nduja sausage roll was beautiful. Great place

In Middlesbrough for the day and unexpectedly had the best coffee I’ve had in a while. Nice cosy atmosphere in there, a real asset to the town!

Good homemade bagel sandwiches.

Very nice coffee shop located in the Centre of Middlesbrough. They serve bagels. I normally go for the vegetarian option due to my dietary needs. The last 4 times I have visited off the ground, I normally opt for the Mexican, and when I always order the Mexican it always taste different. The first time I got the Mexican it was really good, i could taste the lime/lemon in the avacado with cheese and the pico salsa was nice onions, green chilli cucumber and tomatoes with homade taco chips. But the 2nd, 3rd time and 4th time I have got the Mexican it was just cheese, plain avacado and a few tomoates with cucumber not propper pico salsa and no taco chips to be served with it, it was just on its own so I was kinda disappointed as the chef is not doing justice to the bagels. I've had the French toast with strawberry and raspberry compot that was really good, I would definitely get that again but it depends what the fresh toast is on the day. The staff are friendly and lovely and the coffee is delightful, just a slight disappointment on the bagels as sometimes you always get a different version of the bagel and not the everything included which is a shame as its not cheap either. I will try and give one last go because I do like this coffee shop.

For a person that isn't a big fan of bagels or french toast this is unreal!! Sometimes we get 2nd breakfast!!!🙈 We come with our dog basically every weekend now and the staff are always lovely and helpful, even when it's busy. 10/10 will be back next weekend!!!

Best coffee in town! Went in today for the first time. Staff were friendly, place was clean with a great atmosphere, very chilled and relaxing. The coffee was fantastic. I’ve often struggled finding anywhere decent in town. Most of the major chains are packed and untidy. This place is a real gem and I’ll definitely be back. Would highly recommend it

Best cafe I’ve found in Middlesbrough. Excellent coffee and I had the Bahn Mi bagel which I will be dreaming about for days. That smoked bacon jam is insanely good! Service was excellent even when super busy. Highly recommended :)

I’ve been in the north of England, from Australia, for about a week now and had not had a single coffee worth drinking until I went to this place. Great tasting coffee! I got a second one on the way out.
