Off the Beaten Path in Melton

Excellent cafe pleasant staff great tea and delicious snacks ideal when you are out shopping or just fancy chilling out

As a sufferer of coeliac disease it’s always lovely to find somewhere you can eat safely. Although there was gluten free bread available, I had the jacket potato with Brie & cranberry. Normally you the potato to filling ratio is about 2:1 but not here! It was definitely 1:2! It was the nicest jacket potato I’ve ever had & as a coeliac you get through a lot of jacket potatoes 😁 The only negative from my point of view is, as in the majority of places, the oat milk wasn’t gf, but this was made ok by a lovely peppermint tea! The atmosphere & the staff are really nice.

Spur of the moment trip to Melton Mowbray for a wander. Noticed some outside seating in front of the cafe in the sunshine and headed there. I had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw, it also came with salad and balsamic vinegar, my husband the scrambled egg on toast with bacon. The service was quick, the portions enormous and very tasty, and the young staff polite. Should we be in the town again this is where we will be headed.

We were only looking for cake and a cup of tea and we were made so welcome. We had a slice of Bakewell tart and a slice of egg custard but could have quite easily had their cheesecake or pavlova. In both instances they were the best two slices of cake we had ever had. Our tea for two came in two separate pots (unlike some where you share a pot and barely get a cup full each) and we easily got two small mugs out of each one. We will definitely try a lunch the next time we visit Melton Mowbray. Keep up the good work. Melton Mowbray needs your sort of establishment.

I’d give them a 6/5 if I could! Visited for a light lunch. We decided to share a panini and mentioned this when ordering. Came out on 2 plates both with salad and crisps. Perfect. Had lovely cakes which we didn’t share! Great service and a lovely clean place too. Definitely recommend.

Clean,light and welcoming. Great service.coffee was really hot and big cups. Had toasted sandwich and it came quickly and served with a lovely side salad with a little pot of dressing. Had a slice of coffee cake and it was a big slice not a sliver like you get in a lot of places. Will go back on every visit to Melton.

This is a great spot in Melton Mowbray. We can highly recommend this nice place. Very dog friendly lovely staff, we just had latte coffees on this visit and they were excellent, really nice coffees warm and great tasting. Will definitely be visiting again and will be sampling the food . Lando loved it .

Chanced upon this delightful cafe whilst on holiday in the area. Just the sort of place you always hope to find! Proper coffee - not brown water like so many serve - and the most delicious cake. All presented in a clean and appealing way. We are here four more days and have a feeling this is not our last visit. The price seems fair for the excellent quality.

The drinking chocolate, although nice, was far too expensive. Will not visit there again. Off The Beaten Path is a small café with a reasonably nice atmosphere. However the prices are a little too high to make regular visits.

Called into this very nice cafe today. Very nice place, staff excellent, cleaned the table before I sat down. I chose the homemade quiche with salad and coleslaw and a latte. I was served very quickly and I have to say the quiche was the best I've eaten in a long time. Whilst I didn't have dessert the cakes looked very tempting. If you are in Melton this is the place to visit. Definitely 5 star.

Beyond expectation for a cafe. Greeting, attention to detail warm and welcome. Quality of produce, sausages locally sourced . Stopped for a late brunch, coffee lush ,and a nice pot of tea for the wife. Sausage and bacon roll for us both. We both needed knife and fork, and didn’t need lunch. Very friendly and helpful staff we had toasted teacake and tea for two we both agreed it was one of the nicest teacakes we'd had with plenty of best butter. We enjoyed so much that we returned the following day to try their coffee's we were not disappointed, could definitely recommend.

My wife, baby and I came for breakfast. We were met by a really friendly waitress and enjoyed the coffees and salmon bagels. The owner was really helpful as we have just moved to the area and wanted to know about the local food. We have come again a few days later and it’s just as good. It’ll be our local from now on.

Passed by this coffee shop on a day trip to Melton Mowbray and so glad we went inside. Coffee was gorgeous and the scone was absolutely delicious (and huge!) great value for money. Lovely staff and relaxing atmosphere too.

Friendly and attentive staff with great service, a good selection of food, super tasty big portions of cake (I had the Oreo cheesecake, highly recommended) and dog friendly too. Definitely worth a visit.

Called in here for an early lunch. Friendly greeting as we were shown to a table and given menus. Although the cokes looked amazing we opted for a toastie and a panini. They arrived in no time and were nicely presented with a salad garnish and a handful of crisps. If in the area again we would choose to eat here as those cakes need to be tried.

When visiting Melton Mowbray we always go for lunch at Off The Beaten Path. Yesterday I had my favourite cheese scones with stilton, grapes, apple and salad leaves, whilst my husband enjoyed Stilton & Broccoli soup, plus coffees.
