Oddsocks Bar & Kitchen in Cardiff

Have dined here a few times in the past food has always been exceptional, firstly this is connected with what was Jurys Inn Hotel, now Leonardo, but you can dine here if not staying in the hotel obviously you may need to book beforehand or try your luck asking for a table, I booked ! Tomato soup to start which was obviously home made and tasted delicious, for mains the half roast chicken with accompaniments was really tasty and highly recommended, all washed down with a pint of Budweiser see my photos and judge for yourself. This place is a little gem near the centre of Cardiff.

Very unwelcoming, they’d mopped with some strong chemicals by 10:20pm and unwelcoming staff and atmosphere. Didn’t stay for a drink.

We ate here because we were staying in the adjoining hotel. It was well organised and the staff were helpful. Food was good.

Poor service! Went to lunch last weekend and the meal itself was awful. We were a party of 7 and the only customers in the restaurant. We waited an hour and half for our lunch to be served, when questioned we were told that the chef was not in so someone else was cooking the food. We had ordered two children’s cheeseburgers, they came without the cheese. Another order of Halloumi and Chips was served without mushy peas and pesto mayonnaise, had to ask for them. When they came out mushy peas were cold and handed a ramekin of pesto, no mayonnaise. However, Fay the waitress was amazing! She went above and beyond in helping to keep the children entertained in the long wait. She seemed genuinely embarrassed by us having to wait so long and the food being incorrect. Fay you are definitely a credit to the company!

Just popped in having done a university open day. Lovely interior, great staff and food was very good. Nice choices and of the three meals we had the Pizza to first prize - very good indeed. Would definitely return.

Nice setting within the Jurys Hotel, Drinks are quite over priced but typical of a hotel. A relaxing atmosphere, Staff welcoming and friendly. Food looked lovely being delivered to other tables.

We normally stay at Jury's when we are in Cardiff. Don't normally use the bar but we did pop in on Saturday night. Good selection of Gin's and a very friendly barman.

Good choice of breakfast. It was a buffet with hot and cold food, self serve coffee and juices. all that you want.

Casual dining with a great selection of local dishes, Oddsocks offers a relaxed venue with great servers and hospitality. We enjoy the full range of breakfast, lunch and dinner with no complaints whilst the cold rain hammered down outside.

We booked Oddsocks pre Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 V Ireland 🇮🇪 on Saturday to entertain clients before the game. Really busy as expected and must thank our waiter Lukasz who was really attentive and helped to ensure we were served before the game. Food below par and limited beer choices

Food good, staff lovely but obviously not well trained... Tables left cluttered with dirty dishes on quiet nights and one guest went behind the bar for cleaning equipment to clean two tables before his party sat down ... Supervision or training at fault here

Couldn't eat the starter, which was described as potato skins , but was a cold baked potato with conjealed cheese on it Burger and chips ok, nothing brilliant Couldn't get out of there fast enough

Have stayed in Jurys several times but never used the restaurant except for breakfast. We were quite pleasantly surprised by both the service and quality of the food.

Was tempted in to this place, as we walked past, by the cosy looking ambiance we observed through the window. There was a variety of food choices pizza, chicken, steak, pasta as well as healthier options and burgers. My friend had a pizza (huge) and I had the salmon. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was quick to arrive and well cooked. Whilst the restaurant had a nice ambiance, there was plenty of space between tables and so a nice place if you wanted a bit of privacy.

Very nice dishes,kind staff you can have breakfast and delicate dinner. Location is perfect, in the heart of city. Reasonable prices.

Stayed at the Jury's Hotel and decided to eat here on the day of my daughters graduation. The breakfast is in the same restaurant. We ordered tea and it was really nice, staff were pleasant. I ordered the half chicken, a few more chips would've been nice. The staff weren't as attentive as I would've liked, I had to get up three times to go to the bar, once to ask for ketchup and the other for another round of drinks.

The title says it all really. Happy to eat in before going out rather than finding somewhere else.

Nice modern restaurant with varied choice of alcoholic and soft beverages. Very nice mood and very kind staff. The nachos were incredible. Fried tortillas rather than your usual ‘crisps’. Will definitely return.

We had dinner here on Sunday evening after our journey to Wales, the service was excellent and the food was good, we enjoyed our evening there.

Attached to the Jurys Inn Hotel in the city centre. Good in the front: clean, newish, dining room: very friendly service; good bar. Problems in the back: one order prepared incorrectly; the others uninspired; the cut of meat for the steak frites was riddled with sinew/fat (see picture). To the manager's credit they offered a new steak and comped the old one and an additional drink. That was the right response, so . . . a mulligan.

Cannot fault the food or service. Staff were attentive food was all good....great place for a group booking.

I really wanted to like this place. A short, snappy menu with favourites should have been a recipe for easy, swift service and top quality food. I know it was busy when we visited but how can you get such a small menu so wrong? The steak and frites was OK; grisly steak, OK frites. The mac and cheese was tasteless and poorly seasoned and didn't really have much cheese in the sauce at all. The drinks and food took ages and there is no decent ale on offer; not even bottled. It should have been so much better but was, frankly, pretty average and that's not good enough in a city not short of great places to eat. Please take my advice and try somewhere else.

Very basic menu which should be easy to cope with but the food was inedible. There appeared to be no organisation between the waiting staff. The whole restaurant was in chaos with people complaining about the wait and the quality of the food.

We came as a family group. Thoroughly enjoyed a welcoming restaurant that provided helpful advice and friendly service.
