Oddfellows Arms in Allerdale

Sometimes used to pop in on the way home after work. It's going to be my new local now. The place has dramatically changed since the new management. The place has had a makeover and feels fresh as soon as you walk in. The atmosphere felt so friendly, my Wife and I went again the next day. Please keep up the good work. Will be great to see the true potential of what could be and is turning into a great establishment, in a ideal location for us.

Mixed experience in our party of six. 3 good meals 2 average and 1 poor. We had the loaded Nachos with pulled pork which was very nice. Wainwright pint very good. The lad who looked after us provided great service but the punk like barmaid has a poor attitude, I tried a smile but she returned a glare. The tables could have a had a wipe.

We sat on the tables outside under the canopy as it was pouring with rain, with 2 small children, we were about to go into the pub to purchase a drink but one of the workers came out and told us we were not allowed to sit under there as it was for the pubs use only even though we explained that we were about to purchase a drink we still got told we had to move

My family went to get a quick drink after getting an ice-cream and while my brother was at the bar getting the drinks I was rudely told first that 'If you aren't having a drink, you can't sit here'. We were sat outside. I told him my brother has gone to get the drinks to which he graciously added 'You still can't eat here'. I have been coming to this pub for years but after this encounter, I'll let the tumbleweeds enjoy the empty seats. Judging by how deserted the place was, it seems I'm not the first to meet the pubs resident fun sponge. If you're ever in Keswick keep an eye out for the bloke with a chip on his shoulder...and no he won't let you eat that chip on the premises either.

Sunday dinner was minging. Mash like play dough. Pigs in blankets! A good vet would of brought the sausages back to life.

We called into Oddfellows with friends for a social drink only to find the barman/ manager to be very rude and obnoxious, which, after reading other reviews, seems to be the way. There are several more pubs in Keswick which are all very welcoming, we suggest you use them instead.

Really really very terrible. We haven't eaten here in a while and bye heck I wish we hadn't bothered. It was a quiet lunch time with very few in the beer garden but they still managed to mess up on every one of the five dishes ordered. It took them twenty five minuted to tell us they'd ran out of one of the meals we'd asked for. Utter shambles. Won't be returning.

Found this gem of a pub on a birthday trip away in Keswick. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere friendly and welcoming. Special thanks to Connor for the great service and an extra 6th star to Jim (although he didn’t give me his Oddfellows Arms coat). Great night!

decided to have a quick drink as the place looked friendly. Absolutely not. I was drinking my drink and was asked to leave as i was ‘not a customer’ then he took my drink! Enjoyed my time while i was there.

I have been to The Oddfellows Arms several times in the past and had reasonable meals however today the lunch was disgusting. The carrot was half cooked,the broccoli was uncooked and I had difficulty cutting through the base of the yorkshire puddings. The only decent items on the plate were the turkey and mashed potato. We also had to wait 30 minutes to get our meal from the time of ordering. The place was not busy when we ordered.

Went for dinner, and have to say We had a great experience, i had the mixed grill and my partner had the steak. Staff very helpful and gave us information on things to do in area. Will be back tonight for the live music.

Friendly pub always visit when we are in Keswick. Thursday night steak night £12 with a drink absolute bargain. Wife had scampi reasonable price excellent value.

What a superb place to quench your thirst after walking the lakeland fells. The Wainwright Gold clung to the glass beautifully. The second pint lasted slightly longer! The history of how the Oddfellows pub and the Oddfellows friendly society from which it gets it's name was quiet interesting . Thank you Jim

Lovely staff, lovely food, happy couple on valentines night here, don’t miss this gem. We were well looked after by the manager Jim who made sure we knew what food was on offer and is a credit to the pub, as was the bar staff. well done all. Ian and Marie.

Oddfellows has a great selection of food and drink. Been a while since I was last here but would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s in Keswick visiting!

Excellent drinking, couldn’t fault the customer service everyone was extremely friendly. Cosy warm atmosphere with a great selection of local ales. Wish we were staying for the food will need to visit again. Also dog friendly.

Great night spent here, large group of us came to the lakes for a long weekend looking for some food we came into the oddfellows and had some great food, decided to come back later on for the live music after speaking to a meme er so staff about what is happening in Keswick for the evening and was not disappointed. Whole pub was joining in singing and dancing. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Definitely on my list for next time I visit Keswick.

An absolutely authentic PUB. Warm, welcoming and friendly. Been coming here for years and whilst the staff change regularly they have always been cheerful and warm. A convivial place that always has a welcoming atmosphere whether quiet or busy. It does a good varied menu serving basic pub food with good portions and at a price that wont hurt the pocket. Expect a basic place geared up to serve anyone and everyone that can cater for everything from a quiet pint to droves of hungry walkers. The beers are well kept and serves excellent Guinness. We're off there for one at 11am !

Great local beers and fantastic steak, doggy treats also, staff really pleasant, well worth a visit whilst in Keswick.

Very good pub food. My food came in 10 minutes which is more than reasonable because I believe I was the only person waiting on food. I got the ultimate chicken burger it tasted superb with a toasted sesame sead bun with fresh salad it came together perfectly. My Stella was ice cold and the owner and father were very customer friendly

Top food, very good service, really nice place. The pub is dog friendly and even provides dog treats. Would go there again tomorrow night if we weren’t leaving in the morning. Highly recommend

We'd not booked anywhere so we tried this place as everywhere else was busy. The food was cheap so didn't expect much and actually wasn't to bad. However the organisation of the place or should I say lack of, was very apparent. It felt like the owner had left it to be run by kids. They didn't have great people skills, and did witness a couple of miffed off customers in our short time there. The service wasn't particularly quick either, at one point there was a good 6 members of staff behind the bar making out how busy it was yet messing about getting absolutely nothing done. Used glasses were piling high on the bar. It was all just unorganised and messy. I don't really blame the staff in there at the time, its quite clear they've not been shown a better way of working. And I know places are struggling with staffing, but this was a Saturday, I'd have expected some sort of supervision.

Waited 45 mins for meal to arrive, chased twice and told it would be at least another 15 mins so cancelled. Staff did not apologise for delay and were very ‘disorganised’ - will not be going back.

Terrible… came with a group of friends, asked to order a few beers and was told they’d be right with us. Waited 20 minutes. When the little s*** came to take the order he was very rude and abrupt. We tried to order 2 drinks as we didn’t want to wait as long and wanted to save the bar people’s legs and time. We were told we weren’t allowed. We questioned this and we’re told that he was going to serve us…. Wonderful service, wonderful attitude…. The waiter needs a slap! Nice place to eat and have a drink, especially in the beer garden, but as we found with lots of places in Keswick, they were short staffed and you did wait for both your drinks and meal, but when the food did arrive it was fine. Nice friendly staff

Very surprised to see the awful reviews... When myself and my fiance had meal here yesterday, we found the foos was really delicious. Yes they seemed understaffed and rushed off their feet. But the food was lovely. I had the mega lasagne with salad and garlic bread and my fiance had the pork in gravy nap with chips. The pork was moist and the lasagne was beautiful, a very hearty portion. And the garlic bread was just right, still soft with a bit of crunch when bitten into it. I hate hard crunch garlic bread. I don't know why the reviews are so bad. I hope I'm reviewing the right pub.

This is a bar that serves food. The tables and chairs are basic, but the food is hot and good value. The waiter service is very good.

Do not go ignorant and arrogant staff especially the bald guy who seated us. He is 100% in the wrong job. We sat there nearly twenty minutes being completely ignored by him whilst he was serving people who had literally just walked through the door. When we complained his arrogance was and people skills were atrocious. We left never to return

Just two words avoid avoid.If you like cheap food with no taste and have to wait ages to be served then this might be the place for you otherwise avoid.it wasn’t even busy which is probably a sign as the town was heaving.

We went in here for lunch but whilst prices were good and the staff super friendly and helpful we found the food disappointing. We ordered rump steaks one medium and one medium rare. The medium one didn't taste good so I sent it back, but the replacement wasn't much better. I can't say that it was bad it just didn't taste like a goof piece of meat and it was full of gristle. The veg that came with it was over cooked and tasteless. We would not eat here again.

Absolutely the worst pub in Keswick. Waited 20 minutes and when asked if we could be served was told each member of staff had a ‘zone’. No one looking after our zone and staff were rude. Frankly have had more help from a traffic warden after getting a ticket. After asking four times we were told the staff had decided they weren’t going to serve us. Given they’d done nothing whilst we were there can’t say it was a big loss.They obviously count on the garden being a sun trap and have the attitude that they are doing you a favour.If visiting Keswick give this place a miss and try The Lake Road Inn. The staff were great, COVID secure, good food and knew how to run a pub.

We waited for a seat for a few minutes and eventually we sat down at a table. We asked staff four times to be served( this took 20 mins). Eventually we asked a different member of staff for service and explained that we had been waiting a long time and he served a table of young scantily clad women first. We were asked to leave and take our business elsewhere. There were six of us ( all over 50 years old, doctors and nurses mostly , looking for a drink after a walk). Customer service nil. Attitude dreadful. The owner was a cockolorum with an otiose and esoteric understanding of how to take care of customers. We did go elsewhere and spent over £200 in the pub just up the high street. I'm sure they were graceful for the buisness. Do not give the oddfellows your money. The reviews are correct.

I’d love to tell you what the food and drink at this place is like but after waiting 25 mins we hadn’t been served so despite having a great table in the sun we upped and left. Staff were rude, they need reminding that they’re paid to do their job presumably not volunteering so not to act like you’d be doing the customer a favour by taking a drinks order.Whoever runs or manages this place should be ashamed of themselves.Far nicer places in Keswick for a quick pint, please avoid.

Absolutely terrible, food and staff, food tasted just like a microwave meal, and the stuff that didn’t taste like a microwave meal tasted warmed up, and then it was just super low quality, peas were like concrete, and the staff was very rude and slow, if they wasn’t on your section they wasn’t interested in you which means it took forever for someone to get to you, they advertised cash payment so when i tried to pay cash the man looked at me gone out and was very rude to me, so please avoid.

Rude horrible staff, found a grey hair in the food so showed a staff member, he took the plate away and came back with a pathetic excuse it was fluff from clothing, which it definitely wasn't! He was rude and arrogant! Would never go back YACKKK!!

Save your money disgusting service, they advertise cash and card I went to pay cash the man looked at me terribly and said can’t you pay card and was really rude to me in front of my 4 children. We waited over 30 to even get asked what we wanted to drink, FOOD I wouldn’t even feed it to my dog, the beef was like chewing a foot sole, the chips tasted like they had been re fried, the poor kids pasta meals were freezing inside, and the beef dinner OMG the new potatoes were black when you cut into them water spewed out. We waited be acknowledged for 30 minutes then waited another 30 minutes for drinks. A wait was expected seeing as it was half term week however when enquiring about the drinks the member of staff shouted at us. Keswick is notoriously busy during the school holidays so you would expect pubs to be equipped and if not then at least pleasant to their customers.

Waited 45 minutes to be served, enquired where are drinks were 15 minutes later, and the manager turned around and shouted in my face. A simple apology would suffice. Needless to say we swiftly upped and left. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!

We visited during half term with a group of 8, it was understandably busy and they were short staffed which is totally fair enough, however every other pub we had visited were in the same boat and seemed to manage. We waited 45 mins for drinks, and when one of my party asked where they were the manager shouted at her. A simple explanation would have sufficed, I have worked in busy bars and I know how to deal with this situation- and this was certainly not it. Being rude and self entitled is a sure fire way to loose business.

Stopped in for a drink, waited 45 minutes just to order and after another 15 minutes mentioned that we were still waiting. Manager was rude and aggressive and snapped at us telling us it was just how it is. Disorganised system with incompetent staff. Genuinely the worst bar/pub i have ever visited. We left straight away after the horrible manager spoke to us how we did. Worst service in an absolute dump of an establishment. Do yourself a favour and go anywhere but here!

Visited on a Friday night,this place is an absolute dump and has no place in Kewsick, it really let's the place down. It has no atmosphere or character and the staff treat you like its an inconvenience for you to be there,we were even told not to speak to the next table as we may spread germs, after that we just upped and left. Don't go in here.

The food was so cheap and nasty and was very expensive for what it was. Avoid at all costs, don't waste your money.

The fish was longer than expected, and the peas unusually large. Carrot batons like clubs. Dimensionally perfect. But overcooked. Bar staff in sunny beer garden doing a great job.

We went into as 2 groups of 4 as there was 8 of us and inside was eating outside was drink in our party we would of spent more than food absolutely shocking behaviour from staff we were not allowed to speak to our friends in the next table. Unfortunately there was a power cut in marketsquare so we had to leave the Kings Arms & ended up in Oddfellows. If you like cheap & cheerful you’ll be fine. Beer was fine but food awful. I ordered fish & chips which you think would be impossible to ruin but they did, it was overcooked to the point of burnt! Husbands lasagne was pretty awful. Even though there were loads of tables empty inside if you were drinking only you could only sit outside in beer garden so a lot of people didn’t bother as it was a cool evening! Very strange system. We won’t be back!

We visited Oddfellows Arms today as a family, and on the first day of our holiday. We encountered the most inhospitable, unwelcoming host I’ve ever come across who very rudely challenged my family on several occasions regarding seating, drinks and food, and how much money we were spending!Upon leaving I approached the man in question to ask him to pass a message on to management whereupon he proudly announced that he was the manager! I told him that we are a party of 11 and had contemplated going there for dinner which would have involved us spending a considerable amount of money there, however given his appalling manner, we had decided against it. He then said he didn’t care!Honestly people, this man is a disgrace to the hospitality industry and to the lovely town of Keswick!Don’t spend your money here!Incidentally, the homemade soup was watered down and tasteless!

Sat outside for a few dry hours. Adherence to covid spot on, staff super friendly and well organised the food is as cheap as chips and not great tbh but you cat complain when they charge less than £5 for fish and chips (avoid coffee too!) - beer and atmosphere were great though

We waited in line for a table, as all Brits are happy to do. This took about ten minutes. This was to be expected under current restrictions and on a bank holiday weekend. At the table, it was promptly cleared. When I asked to order I was told someone would be along. All the tables around us were being served and every time I asked a waiter or waitress to place an order I was told, sorry you’re not in my section. I asked on four separate occasions over 20 minutes, with everyone being served around me. A waiter I had spoken to previously came by and I asked ‘Excuse me mate, who is it I’m waiting for to place an order?’ Just to find out who was actually serving my section. His response: ‘If you’re going to be impatient, go somewhere else. I’m not running around after you just because you’re shouting at me.’ To be clear, I shouted at nobody and simply wanted to know who to actually talk to to try to place an order. I don’t think being ignored by staff for nearly half an hour by this point is acceptable and I did nothing but ask for help to understand a system that was completely unclear. Why someone couldn’t explain the system, I don’t know. I know the pub was busy, but be nice to your customers. We left. Never to return. I see not dissimilar experiences on here from other reviewers. One to avoid.

We waited around 20 minutes to be served on Saturday, Whilst others arrived after us and got served...they were in the pink seats!! I think we were in the wrong colour seats. The glasses are generic which spoils things for us and the tables and seats were not wiped while we were there not covid friendly! There was sauce etc on the table needless to say we will not be back.

Invisible cloaks. We turned up yesterday at 5.30pm and sat down for about half an hour without being acknowledged or served. We watched the five staff come and go, chat and laugh with other customers, with no organisation. We left and went elsewhere for our meal. It’s a shame they can’t get their act together before weekend when more customers will be arriving.

I'm from Workington but moved away to Devon many years ago. Every time I come home I always pop in here for food, I've brought many people with me and it never disappoints.

We had a splendid lunch, very friendly staff. The prices were very reasonable. The tables are well spaced and the service was good.

We went to the Oddfellows for a quick beer prior to eating out. There were seats inside but we were told these were only available if we were eating there. The table service outside was painfully slow one of the staff seemed more intent in chatting to some ladies on the table near us than serving us. All a bit disappointing.

Visité Keswick en septiembre para mi cumpleaños. Obviamente, sabíamos que las cosas serían un poco diferentes con COVID, sin embargo, muchos lugares nos dijeron que era por orden de llegada. Llegamos a los oddfellows para que nos dijeran que podíamos sentarnos afuera o adentro. Le dije que estoy exento, pidió prueba que va en contra de la ley acto discriminatorio 2010! ! Dije que no necesitaba probarlo porque es en términos médicos. ¡Fue muy desagradable, dijo que le maldije, cosa que no hice y que nos pidió que nos fuéramos! Le dije que se había equivocado y que era muy grosero, a lo que me dijo que si no nos íbamos, ¡nos pondría en guardia para todos los pubs de Keswick! ! Muy decepcionante y malo para el negocio. ! ! ¡No volveré! !

No se deje intimidar por el nombre. ¡Este Pub se merece 100 estrellas! Lo describiría como un Gastro Pub con precios muy económicos y lo mejor de todo, buena comida sana. Te caíste hasta los topes al salir. Bien, entonces la decoración podría hacer con una reforma, pero solo quiero comida deliciosa y precios razonables, ¡y esto es solo eso! El personal es fantástico y repasará el menú con usted y también le informará sobre el menú especial. Así que, por favor, por favor, ¡no cierres! ¡Quiero volver aquí de nuevo!

Siempre ven aquí cuando estés en la ciudad unas 4 veces al año. Fui a tomar una copa hoy, pero me dijeron que solo servía bebidas en las mesas del jardín de la cerveza para los comensales. Un poco ágil afuera pero no hay posibilidad de una mesa adentro y no había una persona adentro y somos jubilados, otras personas estaban saliendo. Es una pena que nunca vuelvas a entrar

The Oddfellows Arms es sólo un gran pub tradicional que sirve buena comida tradicional casera de pub. El personal fue muy amable y te hizo sentir muy bienvenido. Nada fue un problema para el equipo del bar y la próxima vez que volvamos a Keswick volveremos.

Top notch experience here today. Full table service worked efficiently and quickly. Beer garden was well spaced out and a really good atmosphere throughout. Well done Oddfellows, we'll certainly be back 👍

Decidió llamar un poco para comer por pura casualidad y se sorprendió gratamente. Si soy sincero, no esperaba mucho, ya que los precios de la comida eran bastante baratos.Todo el personal fue muy amable y ordenar en el bar una vez que haya logrado encontrar un asiento afuera fue muy fácil.Mi marido eligió la mega lasaña mientras yo tenía el pollo en salsa stilton y tocino. Ambos estaban sabrosos y bien cocinados, la lasaña era enorme, no muy seguro de cómo se lo comió todo y el pollo estaba jugoso. Todo por 21, incluidas las bebidas y, como muchos lugares, operan un sistema unidireccional como parte de las medidas de seguridad de Covid.

In difficult circumstances ie cov 19 the staff were very efficient especially Alex who gave top class professional service. We felt totally safe because of the standards put in place by oddfellows. Good food, good beer, good service. Highly recommended

Probablemente uno de los lugares más seguros en los que me he sentido. Sistema unidireccional instalado, muchos asientos al aire libre. El personal es muy eficiente, amable y muy bueno asesorando sobre las regulaciones internas para cumplir con las pautas de covid. Buena comida y una fantástica relación calidad-precio. We always come in here 2-3 times when we visit Keswick and we certainly weren't disappointed. Decent drinks, good food and great prices. Staff are very friendly.

We were at the Oddfellows every night during our stay in Keswick and would highly recommend. The food is amazing, with a welcoming atmosphere and brilliant facilities, both outdoor and inside. Staff are friendly and efficient, working well with the current Covid guidelines. You can tell there is a particular emphasis on good customer service.
