Visited late on a Friday for drinks with friends, extremely quiet don't know how they are managing to stay open! Nice enough looking venue with good music. Clientele varied, but mainly a younger crowd. Toilets not maintained very well. Wouldn't hurry back for a night out, I prefer the atmosphere in other venues.

Visited this afternoon with my oldest daughter and had a nice lunch. The menu has a decent selection, with a 2 course menu for £10.95 that had a few options. We went for burger and steak pie. Portion sizes were generous. The steak pie was really meaty but not enough gravy for my personal taste but just a wee point. The chips were delicious - nice big fat ones. Daughters burger was well stacked and her fries looked good too! Service was friendly and attentive. The food prices are reasonable, not the cheapest but portion size as I mentioned is generous so value for money! Might have to try the Mexican options next time!

Not impressed. Got our main meal before our starter, chips were frozen chips that tasted of fish, £19 for a steak really, frozen chips, rubbish wee salad and a wee steak. Table had a big wobble going on. Not once were we asked if our meal was ok. We won't be back.

Popped in for a lunchtime beer and bite to eat. Initially thought the smell was fish emanating from the kitchen, but became apparent it was something else ending in “ish”. Particularly worrying as it was on the same side as the kitchen. Quickly finished my drink without eating and won’t be back. Shame as otherwise seemed a nice environment and staff were friendly though clearly embarrassed by the pong. Avoid.

I love it for all the wrong reasons. People watching heaven. There was a guy here in his tracksuit drinking a bottle of irn bru he brought in with him, his two friends dancing next to him while he just stared at the carpet. Another guy in full waterproofs, greasy hair, sipping pints and watching women dance. It's just a bit dated. The draft juice always tastes like red bull, so matter what spirit you order with a mixer, it always tastes like red bull. If you are in the mood for dated tunes, an older crowd, sticky carpets and a story to tell then this is the place.

Good choices on menu. In particular, I had the chicken fajita pasta which was delicious. Staff were friendly. Unfortunately the air conditioning was set too low and it was very cold. Come with me if you want to live. Some things are just better of dead.Upon entering building there is no staff to welcome you so why they are in business beats me. Apparently if you want something best head to the bar as staff are often too busy to deal with diners. Given you do want to eat you are told casually 'just sit where you like'. Drinks are then ordered which tends to take forever. Food quality and portions don't even live up to standards and you'll wonder why you even bothered in the first place. Staff in themselves are the most rudest and unpleasant staff I have ever met.Don't even think staff can be bothered bringing the bill to your table. Time is far too valuable. So O'Connells has been targeted for termination.Unlike Arnie I WON'T BE BACK.Scott Rolland

We were both down the High Street in Kirkcaldy and fancied a quick lunch. We'd been to O'Connells before and it had been good. It still is.The venue is very nice, an old converted church, formerly a nightclub as well however the large space is still cozy and welcoming. The staff are friendly and efficient.Seated right away, drinks came quick. Nice selection of pub favourites and for steak lovers there is a choice of both sirloin or rib eye (the latter, in my opinion, being better). Food is reasonably priced and was well presented. The new management that have taken over do not know what they are doing and have taken what used to be an amazing bar and restaurant, and turned it into a place I would not return too. The food was stale and the full breakfast and eggs Benedict can be done better. The food was either undercooked with the eggs benedict or overcooked with the full breakfast. So all in all, the food is not good and overpriced, especially as most of the food tasted like cheap items (bacon, sausage and potato scones). The staff were lovely and agreed with some of the same complaints that me and my family were saying. But would not return until they get this sorted and get it back up to where they used to be.

My sister arranged a surprise 40th wedding anniversary for my husband and I. She had contacted the pub in advance and asked if she could hand in balloons, banners and a cake they said that wouldn't be a problem it would be on the on the table for us arriving. We arrived 15 mins early, there was no table ready for us it just got worse as the afternoon went on.It was a set menu that they insisted that we took. Ok we don't all eat 3 courses but it was easier for the kitchen they said, after we had our 1st course we waited nearly 45 minutes before anyone' came and took our order for the 2nd course, nearly an hour went past when my brother had to ask for the dishes to be cleared away, she then lifted the menus as well I said we haven't been offered a sweet. The service was pretty grim. I wouldn't recommend anyone goes there for a meal.My hubby and I was in for drinks on sat afternoon 5th March We had to wait 15 minutes to get served at the bar despite it being empty. Have eaten here for quite a few years and always found the food to be consistent. I like the nice salad garnish which comes with the starters as it's always fresh and interesting. However, after my last meal there I will not be going back, ever.I have been a vegetarian for 35 years. I ate bacon at O'Connell's because they mixed up the order and gave me something which had bacon hidden under some cheese. Unfortunately because I was also eating something with hot chilli in it I didn't notice until I had actually swallowed it.I'm sure that anyone who is vegetarian will understand that this is a mistake which a restaurant should not make. If I had a food allergy and they made a mistake with something like prawns a death could occur because of their mistake.A suggestion for O'Connell's - why don't you put all vegetarian and gluten free food on a different shaped plate from the foods containing meat etc? Easy solution and even when your staff are busy they shouldn't find this too onerous!

We decided to try the newly refurbished Oconnells for a lunch, and we were not disappointed. The main seating area has been reversed, with a bright bar where the cubicles used to be and a small performance area where the bar used to be. There was plenty of seating to choose from, although some of it was very close to the bar, a possible access problem on a busy night. We went for the £8.95 deal for 2 courses, of which there was plenty of choice. It took a little while for our order to be taken, the reason being that only one waitress is assigned to this job. However, the meal was served up promptly, with good portions of everything. Would definitely go back.

Went for lunch with my daughter Saturday 23 of August.Arrived around 12.30 and place was nearly empty. We were going to give it a miss and look for somewhere that was a bit busier but decided to give it a try.My daughter had a cheese and bacon Panini with Hand Cut chips which were very tasty.I had Chicken Ceasar Salad which was nice and fresh with a tasty enough dressing and a good helping of well cooked and moist breast of chicken.Food was ok, but nothing special, no complaints.Service was good, but I put that down to lack of customers.Waitresses were mannerly and good humoured and lunch arrived ten minutes after ordering.Restaurant was tidy but like another venue I was in recently, the furniture was in poor condition.I can understand in such austere time as these that the operators of these eateries can do without more expense. But! when the leather seating is in a state like O` Connells, it stands out like a sore thumb. The decor in this venue is very plain and I like what they have done with the original church windows and mezzanine floor but the furniture debases the whole image. Finally, went to pay at the counter as we could not see any floor or bar staff in the service area. The two waitresses were out at the rear of the premises blethering to some guys having a fag. Took around 7 or 8 minutes to get their attention. Was charged £12.75 for 2 mains, 1 pint of Caledonian Ale and a soft drink.Wow Dennis! thats great value for money.................Kitchen Designer.

Visited this lunchtime with service users. Food was ok although 2 of the baked potatoes were very small with hardly any filling, the 3 filled rolls all good, no complaints. The issue arose when it came to paying, quite disorganised. The gentleman became visibly stressed, struggled to find the price of most items. We needed individual receipts + as the till didn't print these, they needed to be hand written, he didn't know what to do + when he asked for help he was told "he's busy" + "I've not a clue, sorry", there was a woman standing close by who looked like she could've helped but didn't. I made eye contact a couple of times but she just let him muddle on through. I ended up saying to him to forget about the receipts and I would do them myself on return to work. He was so anxious, really felt for him. He needed support + didn't get any. Wasn't a pleasant experience. I've worked with adults with additional support needs for nearly 20 years + have an autistic stepson. I'm all for places like Sensoriale but please support the staff to be the best that they can be.

However you can only seem to order via the screen opposite the counter and this was not easy with lots of people milling around. We found seats towards the back and the lighting was poor which was probably just as well as it felt slightly grubby. My husband wanted to use the toilet and said it was filthy and certainly the queue of people waiting to use the one toilet would not have allowed a clean. Overall not somewhere I would return to as a parent of a student.

Excellent. I wasn't expecting much considering it's a supermarket cafe but my breakfast was perfectly cooked. The hashbrowns and tastie scone where a real highlight. I got the big breakfast and a latte. The cost came to just under £12. Not bad compared to the other cafés in Dunfermline. Ladies who are serving are friendly, polite and very accommodating. The coffee is real, vibe in so comfy and cosy. You forget you are in the middle of the shop. I went during the summer holidays, so the were lot's of lovely families. Only con. The is only two people working in quite a large cafe. The serve is quick still. But they really should have more help. It's within walking distance of the high street and bus station. Overall very please. Will be back very soon.
