Ocean Wave in Wirral

Really disappointed. Spring rolls are very small, sweet n sour chicken is really watery and packed with onions n pepper, hardly any chicken. Salt n pepper chicken wings also really small. Really surprised at how bad it was given the reviews. Also the delivery driver was extremely rude. Sorry to say I won't be using again.

Absolute idiots at this place need to update there opening times place says open when its not you call you travel there and its closed !!

Amazing food for a easy take packed full of flavour, only downside is cash only. Downside is cash only.

Best chips and curry in the Wirral, and the only place that's been able to satisfy my chippy appetite fully since the one on Hardman Street got replaced by Caribou Routine. Fair prices and great service

Having used this fish and chip shop for many years and always been very happy with the quality of the food, this time the chips were disgusting. They were almost black in colour and very very floppy. Possibly a need of cooking oil change caused it but certainly not up to their usual high standard.

Surprisingly good for a fast food restaurant.

There are not many vegetarian options on the menu. I asked the lady about it and she said anything could be made vegetarian so I ordered a veg egg foo young. Got home to find several different parts of a pig and a distinct lack of vegetables. It was too late and too far to take it back. Thankfully I got chips as well which were decent. Due to the error I won’t be back. Careless really.

Used to order there because my friend worked there, mediocre food at best, as of the 29th December 2022 the owner has just sacked 3 delivery drivers over 2 of them being off sick, the 3rd driver actually arrived for work to be turned away on the 30th December, nice Christmas present Tracey well done

Recently lost flavour an taste plus never seems to be open lately when calling but no message to inform of changes..also delivery times wen available far exceed given info on call!! Now found new chippy...Eastern delight....bloody lovely!! Give it a try! It's open at least!

Fish chicken Chinese ribs spring rolls and amazing fresh real chips. Crispy won ton are huge, sui mai also great. Mrs addicted to hot n sour soup. Their chips rock. Ocean wave is easily the best chip shop by a million miles I've never had a bad meal or wrong order in 15+ years. It's simply no contest. They will even tailor make things with like 5 or 6 things added and removed for vegans. This is not just another sweaty wirral chippy. There's a reason it is always mobbed out with customers and massive phone orders. Portions are huge too.

This place hasn't a clue how to cook Chinese meals, Fu Yung is an Omelette, sweet and sour is out of a packet. If your coeliac don't bother as they don't know what Gluten is!!! Chips are a disgrace. Never again!!!!

Chips cooked in front of you but tasted 3 days old. Literally the most disgusting chips I’ve ever had.

My husband and I used to go to Ocean Wave before lockdown and the fish and chips are excellent. As others have said, the fish are large so we cut one in half. With the large quantity of chips (I can't believe the reviewer who said that the portion of chips was stingy!) one serves both of us - and we are quite hearty eaters!! Since lockdown we have used their delivery service which is fantastic. Both the guys that bring the food are lovely, friendly fellas and get it to us piping hot. A couple of times the fish was a little dry but I can honestly say that this is a rarity out of probably over 100 orders. Keep up the good work!

This place is walking distance to us and used to be a great take away, but over the last few months its gone downhill fast. After having a couple of really bad meals we stopped getting our Chinese meals from there for about 3 months, but we decided to give it a another try... I wish i hadn't. The meal went in the bin. I do not know how the chefs can fail so badly, to cook a well known Chinese dish . So we wont be returning to Ocean Wave any time in the future.

Plenty of vegan-friendly and tofu dishes. We love tofu and yellow bean sauce. The staff are all lovely too. We order from here regularly and it is always well cooked and delicious.

Absolutely the WORST Chow Mein I have EVER tasted !! It contained what seemed like TASTELESS boiled chicken I beansprouts or mushrooms ... DREADFUL!!!!

Went for crispy chili beef for the second time and seriously it was crispy crispy like pork scratching crispy but on inspection of the crispy beef pieces, non of it had BEEF in it ... that is disgraceful and just not acceptable. Blatant misrepresented of the its description, charging for beef and NO BEEF at all, it has put a bad taste in my mouth about this chippy and will i wont be going there again and will be telling all about it.

Very pleasant staff, clean shop, great range of food options. Food was nice. Recommended.

Good quality Chinese chippy. I've never had a bad meal from there. The chips are spot on and they give you a generous portion.

Give us mullet instead of cod seagulls won't even eat it

Asked for simple allergy information and was treated rudely by staff. Loud club music playing so they could not hear the customers because we are all wearing masks. Food was just disgusting and very obviously cooked in old oil, the potatoes were moldy and frankly and it was way too overpriced for what it is. About thirteen pounds for three people to have a portion of chips each with some sauce. Not to mention I didn't get the correct change back so it ended up costing even more! Avoid.

Mini fish and chips and a can of coke.... For 1.....£5 .....spot on ....highly recommended

Great chippy. Freshly prepared food, not pre processed. Excellent value for money (containers well packed with the meats not padded out with onions etc.) The chips are without doubt the best I've tasted from any of the other chippy's on the Wirral! (And I've tried most of them.) Pleasant friendly staff and quick deliveries. My no.1 go to chippy. (P.S. I've no connection to the place orher than being a happy customer.) Regards Peter Atherton.

Like to try the fish and chips, this time I was not really impressed, the peas were not mushy peas more like marrofat peas, the chips were small and a lot of bits, the fish batter seemed overcooked, there was a lot of different Chinese meals as well in the menu, but I decided

First visit tonight and the last. Awful fish n chips which went straight in the bin after a few mouthfuls. Very Greasy very brown chips and equally greasy very brown fish batter. After a few mouthfuls of fish we realised the fish and it’s batter tasted of Chinese food which suggests they are frying spring rolls etc in the same oil. Save your money and tastebuds go elsewhere.

Got a portion of spring rolls from here last night and have been vomiting etc all day!! I have no idea how they were stored or cooked but from an hour after eating them I have been ill.

We#re very lucky to live really close to Ocean Wave but they certainly do the best chips in Wallasey and their fish is always freshly-cooked and excellent. Thanks so much guys and keep up the great work.

We've been using this excellent takeaway for years, cannot fault the food, service is great, at busy times there can be a wait for delivery as with all takeaways. I can heartily recommend the Special Szechuan.

Ordered by phone told 15 to 20 mins, waited in shop for around another 25 mins, I think the liver on this meal must have been cooking for the whole of this time as it was totally inedible. Would have taken it back but was already running late for work due to the long wait, so it was chips and peas for dinner !! Won’t be returning.

Did a phone order for a delivery, ordered 6 meals, meals were excellent, delivery was very quick, delivery drivers are brilliant and very friendly, highly recommended

Went to ocean wave in Wallasey, food not bad but the way the boss lady speaks to her staff especially the young lad with the cap, in front of customers is DISGUSTING . Not fair

Absolutely disgusting had chicken chow mein all I could taste is the salt in it and the chicken didn't taste like real chicken either! The steak pie was chewy! Will not be going back!

Food later 2 hours got food and it was cold open the door to delivery guy snotty so wont be coming back

Went Friday ordered two fish dinners went home opened them up.horror fish was horrid thick batter finger shaped it was vile certainly wasn't cod all went in bin.will not be going back.been there on numerous occasions and it was fine not now..

Every time we come, we are served by a girl called Kirsten. She is the nicest and most well mannered worker we have met, she is what makes us come again and again for our salt and pepper food. You certainly hired the best of the best!!

Quite a good range of Chinese and English food. A very popular place with lots of customers waiting, but service was quick and efficient.
