Ocean Fry in Liverpool

How can you get a small tray of chips wrong????? When I use this chippy now I'll only risk chips and gravy curry and chips etc, nearly broke my teeth on the chips god knows how long they had been lying around for! This place is defo in the running for the worst chippy in Liverpool. I should of swerved it when I saw the woman who usually works behind the counter frying all the food. Avoid this health hazard people!!!!!!!!!

Ordered fish and chips.it was lovley. Nice piece of cod .batter was light and crispy. The chips wer chunky and cookd sound .all in all a perfect meal ..thank you

Special chow mein hardly any meat in it very poor portion size even the noodles were bland . This place used to do excellent food and for £6.50 I expected a lot better

I usually go to this chippy found it ok but ordered a noodle box and a large fish and special curry fried rice .. all 16 pound so i thought food came but ni fish phoned up saud i would gef one dropped off wirhout delivery charge it cane was supposed to be a large fish but it wasnt i paid 4.50 so altogether was 0ver 20 pound i thought it was expensive ...fish is usually really nice thats why i order from there but i thought this was expensive not sure if i will go there again

Food arrived lukewarm at best. The doner kebab had to be the smallest I've ever seen and the pitta was rock hard. Chips looked like they'd been cooked on a radiator. Won't be using again.

Food was terrible. poor services. they even tried to take the money twice. Update. They offered a refund and a replacement meal. I declined. I just want to forget the matter. Then I was told they was looking for me on social media. Very strange and worrying. It’s called Gateacre fish bar now.

This used to be a great chippy. Gone down in my estimation massively . Poor portions, always missing parts of your order . When you phone back rude and unacceptable excuses . Used it for 20 years never again it’s rubbish . Ps my brother ordered a kebab etc last weekend. They said it was on its way, never got delivered. Don’t trust them unless your desperate. Worst ever !!!

Ordered a special fried rice with bbq sauce from here and never again. The rice was all soggy and i couldn`t eat it. I`v not been here for a long time and i won`t be returning. Beware everyone the quality of the food is awful

I'm disappointed to say that this was a 1 star because the service was bad I had to wait 3 hours to get my food! The food was disgusting and made me get sick so I probably gotten food poisoning from the food I'm genuinely disappointed with this takeaway their food used to taste good but now it doesn't so I'm thinking this business might have to shut down for the sake of people's healths or maybe get better chefs

Recently changed ownership and renamed GATEACRE FISH BAR. Good staff, great to chat to whilst you wait a short time for your food. Better and cleaner than Ocean Fry

We ordered 2 meals last night one was ok the others one chicken fen which the lady recommended omg it was like rock hard little tiny worms we couldn’t even eat the lot went in the bin

Omg I've just throw my tea in the bin !!! It was the worse chippy meal I've EVER had! I only ordered an omelette and chips !!! Never ever had chips like that!!! They were old warm ups with no potatoe in most of them !!! Peas are like bullets !!!! Save your money !!!!

En respuesta a la reseña, el propietario se tomó el tiempo y se tomó la molestia de responder, explicando que estaba de nuevo dirigiendo el restaurante, y se disculpó por ofrecernos una comida gratis si me ponía en contacto.Bueno, volvimos pero no nos pusimos en contacto con el propietario para reclamar su oferta de una comida gratis. Acabamos de pedir nuestra comida por teléfono solicitando que nos la entreguen después de las 7 - 30 pm, así fue. La comida era deliciosa, caliente y sabrosa, y volvió al nivel al que estábamos acostumbrados en Ocean Fry. Bien hecho y gracias por volver a contactarnos.

Awful from start to finish, fone order the woman was diaboical, needs to go back to charm school, we had a large order all of the food was awful were still starving because we didnt eat any of the food me dods gunna have a feast tomora food disgusting🤮

This chippy has renamed itself to Gateacre Fish Bar. We ordered our food just after 16:30, the lady on the phone said 45-60 minutes which was fine given the current pandemic, 1hr 30 min later we were still waiting so we called again only to be told it would be another 30 minutes, we stood by that again, putting into consideration the current circumstances, 45 minutes later still nothing so the last call we made she said the food was still waiting and hadn’t even been sent out for delivery, which could cause potential food poisoning. We ended up needing to cancel. Absolutely appalling service given by this chippy as it was our first time trying it, if they had been open and honest from when we ordered that would have been acceptable however they expected us to wait nearly 3 hours for food that we ordered just after they opened, took our number and didn’t even bother to call us. will not be returning back.

Recently had a full refurb and change of management. Looking really clean and fresh. Always had good chippy from here.

Ordered a delivery from here on the 17/2/2020. The food came and was cold and soggy. It had taken over 1.5h for delivery (not being made aware of the wait). Customer service is awful. Boy on the phone was horrible and had an awful attitude.

Ocean Fry ceased trading. It's now the Gateacre Fish Bar, a little bit more expensive but much better food!

Habíamos sido clientes del Ocean Fry y nunca nos decepcionó, lamentablemente la nueva administración no está a la altura de los estándares establecidos por los propietarios anteriores. Pedimos tres comidas, una de las cuales era insípida, un curry de gambas, las otras dos eran comestibles pero no brillantes. El arroz frito no fue cocinado adecuadamente con trozos de arroz crudo. Decidimos no rendirnos y volvimos por segunda vez, pero las comidas no fueron mucho mejores.Estoy seguro de que pueden hacerlo mejor y deben hacerlo antes de perder la buena base de clientes que heredaron.

Nueva administración, nuevo nombre, mismo servicio horrible.Entró, esperó detrás de una mujer que estaba esperando el orden. Diez minutos después, el personal contesta el teléfono o parece ocupado.Después de 10 minutos caminé hasta la puerta y llamé al número de la tienda, que fue respondido de inmediato por un miembro del personal que me había ignorado por completo. Realicé el pedido y le dije que estaría disponible para recogerlo pronto. Volví a la misma posición y todavía nadie vino a mí.Le pregunté por el gerente y hablé con una señora y con el asistente que había respondido mi llamada diciendo que estaban ocupados y que ella estaba atendiendo las llamadas. No recibí ninguna disculpa del; gerente; aparte de lo que había ordenado ahora.Debido a su actitud y la de su personal, le dije que cancelara el pedido,Entonces, si realmente quiere comer desde aquí, llame por teléfono y no entre y espere el servicio del personal del mostrador.Para concluir, desde la nueva administración he estado varias veces y he disfrutado muchísimo el arroz especial frito y el pescado, así que es una pena que,No volveré por la respuesta de esta noche

Lovely food, great service. Tried it here many moons ago and there has been a definite improvement in shop, staff, food and cooking. Will use again.

Disappointed with my King prawn curry with fried rice tonight.rice was so dry barely warm.prawns were like rubber ( overcooked ) such a shame as it seems a change in owners . I had eaten there before but won't go there again .

He usado este chip en el pasado y el servicio y la entrega fueron horribles. Recientemente cambió su nombre a Gateacre Fish Bar y tiene una nueva administración, por lo que pensé en probarlo. Desearía no haberme molestado, ordenado comida y me dijeron que sería entregada dentro de media hora. La comida llegó una hora más tarde y el pedido estaba incompleto. Recently give this another try as under new management. Same chef by the looks of it same tasteless meals slapped together.tip avoid me deal ribs all the knuckle(throw away) ends and chicken n sweetcorn soup uses same strips of chicken for meals a waterer mess.

Best chippy ever.fish and chips ,amazing and doesn't break the bank. They sell every meal you can think of.all freshly cooked .the staff are so nice.i carnt praise it enough.will definitely be paying another visit soon.

Someone asked for chop suey and the young girl taking orders said." We dont sell chops" . Then again ,another young un comes out from the kitchen.... scoops chips into carton and starts eating em ....The head concho says Im leaving this place .Second in command says "We dont have chicken wings ...soooo no chicken tonight lol..." It just went on and on ... Great stuff good luck with the buisness...

Waited 35 minutes for a fish and chips. Happy to take more orders but not fulfil the orders already taken. Ended up walking out.

Han pasado años desde que visité este lugar y cómo ha cambiado. Las últimas dos veces que estuve tuve que averiguar dónde comenzó la cola porque era solo una manada que se dirigía al centro del mostrador. No me gustó la apariencia de quien yo consideraba el gerente, toda la arrogancia grasienta que lo rodeaba y parece que el departamento de salud mental local lo utiliza como un lugar para pasar el rato. Una dama con altas dosis de medicamentos o borracha se desplomó en la esquina mientras el personal arrogante se reía y bromeaba. . La comida estuvo bien hasta que me di cuenta de que estaba precocida. .

After ordering £30 plus odd on the arl scran, they took 1.5 hrs to deliver, sound, might have been busy, but they got the order wrong and forgot the jockey whips!

Lovely fresh fish here. And chips are good too. Will be going back soon. Chicken kebabs great and fresh too.

Lady on the phone was rude! She sounds like you're causing her effort just for making an order. Didn't make it to the food to even rate due to how bad these people treat speak to you. Moraley, I wouldn't use this place purely due to their attitude.

Great chippy been going here since childhood, the staff are very friendly and the food is nice however i could only give it 4 stars as the food used to be alot nicer but overall still a great chippy and I recommend!

Just paid £6 for salt and pepper chicken and chips when I got home and opened it I was stunned at how little the portions where. the chips where soggy as hell and the salt and pepper chicken was awful threw it in the bin after 2 bites .won't be going there again

Only ordered from here as my local was closed. Waited over an hour and a half for food and when it arrived it was lukewarm food was poor fish was over cooked and dry chow mien had a thick clear congealed jelly in it and fried rice was appalling very dissatisfied with the food and will definitely never be ordering from here again! I would not recommend this chippy to anyone.

Tuve que usar este establecimiento como nuestro outlet normal comida estaba cerrado. El dueño nos atendió y fue empujando jadeando y puffing y era muy irregular mientras nos servía. Los tiempos de la tienda estaba abierta hasta 1030 y fue después de las 7. 30. Pedí alitas de pollo caliente y picante sólo para ser repentinamente dijo que no tenía. Le pregunté a esta persona si él era el propietario que contestamos que sí y que él tiene un problema con servir nosotros. dio un deslumbramiento horrible. Entonces, él dijo que había estado muy concurrido, lo que me respondió que no era forma de hablar a sus clientes que gastar dinero en su negocio. Entonces él sacó una señorita detrás del mostrador en frente de los clientes en la tienda y proceda a decirle. Digo discutido en este y dijo que si él tenía algo que decir a su personal que debería de tomarse su tienda en el suelo, nunca pisar sobre esta tienda de comida rápida de nuevo. La comida no era incluso agradable. La mayoría de fui a la papelera. Como para el propietario que él debería estar trabajando con el público si no puedo tener respeto por ellos. un hombre muy horrorosa que tenía un chip enorme en su hombro. Situated on Grange Lane, this take away has a great selection of food. English, Chinese and kebabs. The food is always well presented and hot. Fish is cooked when you order. Certainly recommend this establishment for a very good feed.

I have been here on several occasions as it is local and each time the food has been below average. Chips undercooked and greasy, and the shop looks like it could do with a good clean.

He utilizado este llevar unas cuantas veces desde trasladarse a la zona hace un año. Tienda dice que vender, pero las tartas tartas hollands en envases no son pasteles de carne (redonda hollands? ). Fuimos a conseguir una especial patatas fritas al curry arroz frito/media. Ordenados y luego nos dijeron que no que la mitad de patatas arroz frito/arroz/patatas hervidas sólo 1 / 2 y 1 / 2. No contento! Pero podría haber pagado más por una porción de arroz frito. La comida llegó bastante rápido - dieron inicio a la más pequeña porción de patatas fritas media y media/arroz (esas pequeñas bandejas de plástico). Pocas fichas y pequeña cantidad de arroz. Curry no es tan genial (sobras congeladas). La carne (muy grasos, correosos) no tan estupenda para el coste de la comida de la comida medio 5 libras. 80. . El personal bastante desagradable en el punto de entrega. La tienda no estaba tan lleno, así que no hay excusa para ser descortés sobre el arroz frito - tal vez la mitad de una visita de los estándares de cotización tarta hollands resolver la cuestión. . .

Really bad..don't bother going. The food is greasy slop and the staff are so unfriendly. The woman behind the counter actually licked her fingers whilst preparing my food and carried on wrapping it!

An absolutely average takeaway. Chinese food ok, but quality of chips is awfull, under cooked and white in colour often soggy. I usually put in oven at 220 degrees c to crisp up!! About 20 minutes.You get freebies on certain nights if u buy Chinese.

Ordered a lot of food for family from here. No taste, food bland and of poor quality, food was not cooked to expected standards for consumption, absolutely vile, very disappointment and will never order food from here again, the food is that bad I don't even know how they are still in business.

This is our local chippy and we love it staff are friendly and always try to serve us quickly. Food is always nice especially Singapore chow mein.

Me and my family have been going to ocean fry on and off for years but have seemed to be going a lot more now that it has been taken over by new management apparently... We always receive our food within the time gap of which we are given and with us being a regular we sometimes receive the odd free soup or something else which is nice it shows they take pride in their chippy and customers. When we go into the chippy to order, I can see it is clean and well presented which is reassuring, Would definitely recommend this chippy to anyone in the area.

Went in here tonight to order meals approx. £30, waited over 10 minutes without anyone bothering to ask me what I wanted despite several opportunities everyone seemed to be doing something else.Customer service needs sorting.Walked out and went elsewhere

Went on the weekend for some meals, great service and atmosphere, loads of new staff in, all very friendly. ordered a chicken kebab, everything comes separate so you can make it yourself which I think is a great idea, Chinese meals spot on, Singapore verm was the best I have had. Chips nice and fresh, very happy that it's gone up again, happy my local chippy is back on point.

Ordered there last night, haven't used the chippy for a while. but the food was amazing, arrived quick and hot. Chips perfect and all meals correct, cashiers very friendly, new management in shop and it shows. Will be ordering again. Happy to have a good chippy to order from again.

WHERE DO I START...burgers dry and horrible luminous neon sauces enough to put you off... kebabs..dry solid pitta.. few shreds of grey lettuce and few shards of crusty kebab meat even the dog wouldn't touch it !! so i thought id give the benefit of doubt and try the Chinese side BAD decision ..no difference between szechaun and sweet n sour , chicken rubbery with a plastic taste....unless your just ordering chips dont bother....golden city all the way
