Oaklands Masonic Hall in Tameside

We recently attended a wedding at Oaklands Hall. The staff are excellent here, they go out of their way to ensure you have a great experience. The 3 course meal was delicious and the staff were attentive and brought water when needed, they replenished the wine promptly and cleared everything away in good time. The buffet later on was also lovely, including some yummy chips which a lot of buffets don’t do but were very welcome. The toilets are modern and clean and no issues with lack of paper, nice little basket of toiletries too. The room is a good size and bright. If you were booking a wedding here in the summer you might be put off by the lack of outside space as it’s just the car park but it wasn’t an issue for the wedding we attended. I would say book your function here and you won’t be disappointed. The MC is very friendly and happy to help with any queries.

Had the MOST wonderful experience here celebrating my 80th birthday. Staff were so so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and the buffet food was out of this world. Can't recommend highly enough. Fantastic

I can’t rate this place higher than I already do. We arrange a fundraiser and the staff went above and beyond to ensure our function went without a hitch. Special mention to Lauren and Liv. Also thanks to Matteo and his catering team. The meal was fantastic, very filling and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend. They do theme nights so look out for them being advertised.

Had a wonderful lunch at Oaklands Hall. Entertainment was provided by the lovely Natalie Cuifo (aka Ain’t Misbehavin’) The meal was scrumptious and a cut above. Where else can you get Monkfish and Thai crab cakes, on a February Sunday in Hyde? The meal was finished off with a super delicious lemon cheesecake, cheese and biscuits and coffee. We were well looked after with table service from the staff who I cannot praise too highly and led by Liv, front of house . I don t know how they do it for the money . The venue is highly appointed and we were treated like Royalty. I asked for a table near the talented Natalie and we were given a “killer position” right at the front . We were presented with a rose too which together with the complimentary chocolates was a nice touch for Valentines. Ain t misbehavin’ performed three sets and had chosen what seemed like the sound track to our life. Her pitch perfect singing voice is a given these days but with her mesmerising dance moves Natalie tells a story. She is of part Italian heritage and she uses the shaping of her hands in her performance to enhance the lyrics drawing you into the storyline. Her natural beauty is enhanced by some very impressive dresses . As it was a Valentine’s event the theme was love but she mixed it up with some high energy interpretations of some classic favourites enchanting her audience who were in raptures by the third set. We ve seen Natalie three times now and each show has been an individual performance. She surprised us today with an enchanting Scottish ballad. We spent 3 hours over an excellent lunch and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are so proud of Natalie and feel so lucky we can see her in our own neighbourhood. She has a growing following so if you get the chance to see and hear this young talent go for it. Her act will stay with you long time . We were here for our diamond wedding anniversary with 30 adults and five children. The menu had five choices for each three courses. With tea and coffee included. The service was excellent, just the right amount between courses. Bar staff and waiting on staff were efficient and patient. Overall a very good experience. Would highly recommend for any functions.

I ordered a Tapas Meal Take away for New Years Eve. It was wonderful. The timings on the instructions were spot on, everything was really tasty. They even provided me with a meal for one! Super customer service ....and definitely customer satisfaction

We arrived to find a long que at the bar, once we got seated the room was the right size for the event. The staff were need but rushed of there feet. Perhaps more staff need Had a good night and will probably be back

Was there with my husband to meet up with my cousin. Had a Pensioners meal which was very good. The food was lovely and the pork really tender & succulent. We ended with Trifle...wow! one of the best, with real sherry. Service throughout was excellent. We were all very pleased.

Great food in fabulous surroundings. Plenty of choice friendly staff value for money. Will definitely be returning.

We visited as part of a large group just before Christmas. The food was lovely and the service good. I would recommend this venue for a large function.

Attended a function - the second at this venue. Having had a good experience on the previous occasion I was expecting something similar - how wrong was i? It took an eternity for the starter course to be served after sitting down. A lengthy gap between the starter and the main course - roast potatoes were rock hard and the salmon was dry. Another lengthy gap until the sweet was served- at least the pudding was delightful. On a positive note the waiting staff were pleasant but that didn't counter the slow service. Maybe things had deteriorated given that there was another function on the same evening? Who knows? If I am invited to another event I will think twice about accepting.

I attended a function here last week. It took a long time to serve the food with extended gaps between courses, the food was very poor and they ran out of some choices, inexcusable when people had pre-booked. As a result of the meal taking so long to serve the entertainment began before some people had even been served the main course, it was loud, inappropriate for the event and just dreadful.

I find this place lovely for everything & everyone. The food, service is great. Matto as been so good to deal with & I've had a couple of functions here All were great. Thank you

Our party of 11 celebrated mums birthday yesterday with Sunday lunch at the Oaklands Hyde. We were seated at a lovely round table and enjoyed the 3 course Sunday lunch menu. Fantastic choices for all 3 courses and everyone of us enjoyed our meals which were cooked to perfection, nicely presented and served by efficient and polite staff.

Would like to thank all the staff at Oakland's for all of your help you made a good day into a great night. A special mention to Alex who went out of her way to make sure all our needs were catered for.

Oaklands Hall was booked for my wife's birthday party. As it was a surprise it involved her being guided in blindfolded. I was hugely impressed with this venue from initial discussions about the buffet to the night itself. Management were very courteous and helpful in all our engagements with them, and the general staff were always polite and efficient. The food arrived punctually at the requested time and was of a very high standard indeed. Many of the guests commented to me on how excellent the catering was. Besides being very tasty, it was generously portioned and all served very efficiently. Oaklands Hall is a superb venue with vast experience in hospitality. It successfully integrates modern facilities with its proud and rich history. Very highly recommended.

We went to a birthday party here. It is well presented and the staff were very friendly. The buffet food was superb. We were that impressed with The food we are going to return for a Sunday lunch.

Visitamos este lugar porque oímos que estaba siendo dirigido por el ex propietario de la Matteo. De hecho ese es el nombre de la cuenta al final de la comida. Siempre nos gusta Matteo en el pasado.

Fuimos con unos amigos para una cena de caridad. La comida era excelente para decir que atendían a 100 personas. Agradable tener un bar independiente. Los inodoros impecablemente limpio, aunque el agua estaba muy caliente. . . Cuídense. . Especialmente si tienes niños pequeños. No sabía que este lugar existía incluso después de estar en Tameside durante más de 40 años. El único inconveniente como por otros comentarios es el precio de las bebidas! Muy caro. El personal era genial.

Family celebration turned out to be very expensive.. 3 pints 1 vodka 1 wkd £25!! bring enough money if you plan on getting tipsy! Nice room quite dated..

The venue was lovely, bit dated, could do with some new furniture, but overall not too bad. Car park secure if you want to leave car overnight.Drinks were a bit pricey, l had bottles of prosecco which was reasonably priced.The one thing that spoiled the day was the interference of a lady called Barbara who worked there, for some reason and god knows why, she felt the need to mess about with the plugs during my Daughter's first dance which resulted in the music going off, so she spoiled that magical moment which you don't get back........The food was excellent, freshly cooked and served well by the chefs, the staff tidied up so the tables wasn't left in a mess.Apart from Barbara, the day was perfect.

Went here to celebrate a family wedding. It's a Lovely venue and it was dressed lovely. The food (buffet) was nice and had something for everyone. It's nice having the separate bar area to get away from the noise. Only down side it the price of the drinks were expensive, less than £1 change out of £10 for a fresh orange and a pint :-(

We had a large family celebration at Oaklands in October and whilst some aspects of the place are extremely dated, the quality of the food and service is really very good.It had been about 15 years since our last visit and it's not the sort of place that you hear that much about. However, there appeared to be a lot of regulars in for Sunday lunch. Overall, a very pleasant surprise and I suspect that we'll definitely be back at some point.

Had my 50th birthday celebration at Oakland's Hall..and wow I . Can not express enough how delighted myself and my guest s were. Matio, Margaret and all the staff were amazingly helpful the food is some of the best food I have tasted at a birthday celebration.I would have no problem in highly recomending this as a venue for any event

We celebrated my mum and dads diamond wedding anniversary here and we couldn't have chosen a better place the attention to detail and the staff were top class. The selection of food on the menu was excellent. I had the soup as a starter then the roast beef for the main and lemon cheesecake for the sweet. Every item of food was delicious. All our family and friends said how much they enjoyed themselves and would love to return here.

We had a family birthday meal at Matteo's restaurant, Oaklands, on Sunday and it was lovely. 6 of all had different items from the menu and all of them were perfect. The setting is a new annex to the building and very tastefully decorated. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is all reasonably priced. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

My wife and I attended a wedding reception at Oaklands today, a place I wasn't even aware of, despite living just 2 miles away. The presentation was absolutely superb, with tables and chairs well laid out and decorated. The food was excellent and everyone at the wedding I spoke to said the same. Personally for the main course, I had the vegetarian option of Butternut Squash with Cous Cous and a spicy tomato sauce. So tasty and very filling, and I highly recommend it if that is your sort of thing.The bar staff and waitresses etc were very friendly, helpful and professional.Whilst there I found out that the hall is open to the general public, and we intend having our Boxing Day meal there.Nice setting with plenty of parking and well worth a visit.

Lovley venue,for parties &Sunday lunch .The food is excellent & value for money . I had a birthday party there two years ago. Matteo &Margaret who run the hall are very helpful & Matteo jnr is an excellent chief . The hall has recently been refurbished .

Went for Sunday lunch at Oaklands Hall, the menu was extensive and the food gorgeous.The Orangery is just a brill venue and Matteo and Margaret look after everyone.

Set in a masonic hall, hidden from view Oaklands masonic hall is a little gem.Having had a beautiful refurbishment its a lovely setting for any family get together.We recently visited for for my parents Golden wedding anniversary, and from booking, to the end of the evening Matteo and his team provided excelllent service with great attention to detail.They dealt with all our enquires in a very friendly professional manner, nothing was too much trouble. They happily gave many suggestions for the guests we had with special dietary requirements, and were very knowledgeable.We had 44 guests having a 3 course meal sat on round tables of 8-10. The day before we requested for an extra 2 people and then when a guest rang them in the morning to change their menu order it was no problem. When the food came out it was served quickly, so you didn't feel like you had nearly finished, when others were still being served.The quality of the food was second to none with no issue over requesting extra vegetables for the table. Matteo and his team should be very proud, I admit, when I was first told we were going to a masonic hall I didn't have high expectations, but Oaklands has become my favourite place to hold a family event. We will be going back very shortly.

So, we had a family Sunday meal, 16 of us... The food was very nice and well presented for the price. There was a slight hiccup with the starters which can happen, and I think like everyone it's not that it happened but how quickly and how well it's resolved.I sat waiting for my starter while everyone else was eating... But it arrived and it was quite nice... The main course was again nice and served up fast.I found the desert was the most annoying and frustrating... I can't say how nice it was because I ended up with nothing! Again a slight hiccup, a member of the family forgot what he had ordered, and so was waiting to see what was given, a fruit flan was given. I said I was waiting on a further fruit flan... Instead of this particular waitress trying to resolve the issue, the first thing she did was go to the kitchen and get the list of pre-ordered meals... She then promptly tried saying that we had only ordered so many of that particular desert and quite clearly instead of helping made it out to be our fault... So breaking the first rule of customer service. I felt like I was being accused, that it was my fault and that I was unconvincing them. Considering that the meal U.S. trialling several hundred pounds, you would thibk they would attempt to resolve. Only after I dismissed the other deserts because I'm diabetic they offered me a bit of fruit... Said no and that was the end of that. Rather disappointed with the service. When we first walked in we was surprised how nice the room is and my partner and I immediatly considered this place for our wedding... After the service we have titally dismissed the place now. A shame really as its a nice setting.Very disappointing!

My wife and I called in at Oaklands for Sunday lunch last week and were pleasantly surprised. My wife went for the traditional Sunday beef roast whilst I went for the salmon in chilli and lime on a bed of coconut rice, both of which were delicious. The staff were really friendly and the manager Matteo took the time to speak to most people. We will definitely go back again, and next time we will try to attend one of the special dinners they have on from time to time.

Joined by several friends seated at tables for 8 people. The option of a two course or three course meal was ideal. Excellent choice of starters, mains & sweets. I went for the three course,started with Pate, for the main the Mixed Platter of Meats was my choice, plenty of veg. I had theApple Crumble with Custard followed by Coffee & Mince Pie, Superb.£19.95.The service was as good as the food & the pint of "Robinsons Bitter" was first class. The Manager, Matteo is so attentive to detail & makes sure that you enjoy your visit.It is a Masonic Building, recently refurbished to a very high standard, open to the general public & well worth a visit.

Lovely place, beautifully decorated, the manager, Matteo is the perfect host. Really enjoyed the meal. Was here for a private function, there was a buffet on, superb food.
