Bad Experience. We pre booked for a family birthday party of 11 people. First off, they tried to put us on 2 separate tables which we refused. We then had to ask for cutlery twice after our meals had been put on the table. 4 people on our table had the burgers and 1 person had the fish. All of these 5 meals were absolutely awful and were left on plate. We complained that 5 out of the 11 meals were not eaten and the staff member said sorry, thanks for the feedback. I went up to the bar and said that we had a problem with 5 of the meals and they reply was “What do you want me to do about it.” I asked to see the manager and was told that there were no managers in and that I would have to ring the next day. I think this is terrible customer service and 5 out of the 11 meals were very substandard. I would never eat here again.

One of the best carverys I have ever experienced. All 6 members of our party said the same. Despite being extremely busy the service was spot on and with no long waits at any time. Well done to the staff and management! Definitely top of the list for Sunday lunch in future. The food was all fresh, hot and well presented.

The food was really poor value for the £17 I paid for a few peas, chips and a slice of pie. The gravy boat took most of the plate up. Rest of food was frozen. Won't be going back.

Very friendly and helpful staff and owners throughout our stay. Thank you. They were so amenable with bike storage. My room was large, but very old fashioned and a bit dark and dingey. All usual amenities. Bathroom adequate. Bar restaurant area is all fine, but food was disappointing in standard. Just pub food style. Breakfast was nice, with good cooked full English. This is an old Inn, it's dated but still ok.

Booked a week before coming. No table for us when arrived! Staf huffed and puffed and squeesed us in a table sat next to a family with the biggest dog ever! The dog barked and shook his body throughout. Hair and dust splattering around. People with dogs should not sit near people who don't have a dog not fair. Food overly priced. Cajun chkn and bacon disgusting and bland. Fish batter not cooked. Top it all off £8 for a pudding. Don't bother going. No welcome or good food.

Not an extensive menu if you're looking for a light lunch, and as someone with special dietary requirements I did struggle to find something.. Eventually I decided on a 'sandwich' which although expensive at 16.99 I could cope with. It was advertised as bring served with chips and salad, neither of which I can eat.. So I asked if I could have JUST the sandwich.. After initially saying no, they then said I COULD have it without chips but that the price would still be the same! Sorry, but I think that's unreasonable. It was expensive to start with, the same price as some of the main meals , but it is what it is. I understand costs, but to charge for something you dont want and can't eat is ridiculous really. Not as if it entailed and extra work either, I was asking to NOT have something. We left without anything shan't be going back 👋. Better places not too far away

We arrived the 4 of us yesterday, to not even a hello off one member of staff . The staff that were there were sat together in the corner of pub to which looks like they were all on a break to one girl sat with her shoe off rubbing her feet !!!! I would never ever come back here , and whole ambience was dreadful , and very unwelcoming !! Such a shame as we only had a round of drinks and was looking forward to a meal ! But we left due to the lack of compassion and total rudeness !!! AVOID !!!!

We stopped here for a beer at lunchtime. The staff were really friendly and when we saw some of the food being served, we decided to return for an evening meal. We weren't disappointed. I chose the Dragon Burger with fries and onion rings, my wife went for the full rack of ribs. The burger was really tasty with a hint of chilli spice. Perfect. The ribs were outstanding and HUGE. We shared half a rack between us and our dog and took half a rack home in tupperware. Add to this that the price was very reasonable, the Oakley ale was good and, most importantly, the staff were excellent and I'd give it a 6 if I could. They even helped me with my very poor attempt to speak Welsh. We will definitely be returning.

Booked 3 rooms.Arrived about 7.15pm on 17/03/23. As kitchen closed at 8pm went straight into restaurant. Could see from menu that most choices were the sort of meals one gets at frozen food counter. All meals were dry & overcooked, bullet hard scampi & dry chips with frozen peas. When we tried to order pudding the kitchen was closed& only persuasion produced a Magnum Ice Cream. Really a most abysmal meal. Although one could order at the bar there was an app to order with- really impersonal. Rooms ok - ours had a shower & toilet en suite but the washbasin was at the other side of the room not ideal. As we were attending a funeral we only asked for toast & marmalade. There was a self service buffet with juices, cereals, bread for toastng which was ok. We were encouraged to see a fairly copious cooked breakfast menu & looked forward to sampling this on Sunday morning. However er it was not to be - on enquiring about breakfast about 9am we were told we could only have the buffet as they were too busy preparing for their Sunday carvery to do any cooked breakfast - this we found totally unacceptable. This is not a cheap or budget hotel but the catering side was dire. On checking out we expressed our discontent with not being able to have a cooked breakfast & were met with a half hearted apology from a staff member who seemed used to uttering such apologies. A totally sub- standard stay, the worst we had experienced anywhere, Europe, USA, Canada & Australasia as well as elsewhere in the the UK for at least a decade. My recommendation is to give the Oakley Arms a wide berth.

We've been sorely tempted to join the many travellers who sun themselves on the picnic benches outside this beautiful stone built pub on account of the stunning views. We stopped with our motorhome and checked it would.be okay to stay over if we had one too many which it was. Due to covid we ordered fush n chips and a couple of pints from the app and hey presto a perfect pint of dark ale was delivered within 2 minutes flat! The cleanliness was spot on, tables wiped and hand sanitizer at all doors. I'd seen various reviews about the timeliness and quality of food but ours arrived within 15 mins of ordering on a bank holiday Monday teatime. The battered fish was incredible, very meaty, tasty and hugely filling. Highly recommended this place for a stay or food. Staff very friendly and a beautiful view, 10 mins from the coast and though there was no eat out government offer we paid £31 to share a starter, two pints and two mains. Great value.

The pub itself is very nice, it has a cosy feel to it and is quiet relaxed, even at the height of Covid. The staff members were polite enough and all be it very busy, one lady in particular was very friendly and chatty. The food was overall was unfortunately average, I ordered the house burger, the whole thing was great apart from the patty... it was this huge chunk of dry beef, probably like 3-4 inches thick, completely unseasoned, absolutely ridiculous. It would of been better if they just had 1-2 thin patty’s instead. My partner ordered a cheesy pasta, it was pretty OK, all be it a little bland. We come back the next day to have pizza because we couldn’t get in anywhere else (because of the eat out to help out deal). We went with pizza because we thought it would be something that they couldn’t really mess up, and my goodness was this a bad pizza. The main issue is it has no tomato base, I lifted the layers of cheese to look for it and it just wasn’t there. We were going to take some home but decided in the end to just leave the leftovers.Overall a nice pub, in and nice area with lovely staff, but the lack of good pub food really lets it down. The people in the kitchen really need to step up if they want people to return.

They came with caramelised onions which was just onion marmalade and not a good burger addition. We were asked if it was okay and explained politely our objections, the waitress said sorry about that and we were charged full price. We spotted it from the road and looked an attractive location with beer garden and children's play area (which was closed, probably due to covid to be fair). Lovely setting and a nice pub. Dining and bar area nice and clean but toilets obviously hadn't been tended to all day. No welcome on arrival and due to Covid countermeasures we needed to book in but no space left on the sheet. I advised the staff and after a 2 hour stay, the sheet still hadn't been replaced. Had to search for our own table which was far too small for a family of 4 and on the main thoroughfare to the toilets and car park. Sat there staring at larger vacant tables throughout our stay whilst other guests and staff passed within half a metre of us. Five members of staff walked past us at least 4 times each like we didn't exist but spent lots of time talking to other staff and, presumably, regulars. Had to book food via an online app but had to work this out for ourselves from a chalk board on display. Food delivered promptly after booking but without a hint of courtesy. Nut roast was excellent, gammon was big but dry, house "black" burger was like a wholesaler bought product and none of the staff could really explain what 'black burger' was, despite asking the 'chef', not what you expect for nearly £13. Lots of fresh side salad and chips but chunky chips were the darker side of brown and overdone. Bar staff didn't have much of a clue either, served a rhubarb gin in a G&T and thought that Oxford Gold might be local, but we'd given up by then. No local beers on offer, shame to see them not supporting Welsh producers. In summary, nice pub, ok for drinks but, at best, average food at premium prices and poor service.

Let’s start with a positive. The food was really nice. We had booked a table earlier in the day so they knew we were coming, we arrived on time but it took a while for someone to greet us and show us to our table. We pointed it out to them and were basically left to get on with it.We placed our order at 20.10, the food eventually arrived at 21.25 after having to chase up the order. The girl who took the order was unenthusiastic and gave no indication that there would be a lengthy wait. It became obvious after a while that they were well behind with orders but we were not approached by anyone to let us know this or offer some nibbles to keep the hunger pangs at bay.A disappointing last night to the holiday: good food but the service leaves a great deal to be desired.

Delicious food. Slightly understaffed on the bar as we had to wait 20 minutes to get served there, no tomato sauce and staff were a bit slow and one staff member called the steak vegan/vegetarian(???) when in fact it was gluten free.

Booked a table for friends. Arrived , paid at the bar for Sunday dinner and drinks. (1 2 or 3 course) seated, atmosphere great, staff efficient, amazing huge choice for carvery, have been back 3 times. Really is a good choice for the area. Value for money and really is very nice food.

As a coeliac I have travelled all over the UK and been heartened at improvements in awareness of the condition and the increased availability of gluten free options on menus. Sadly a recent week spent in Porthmadog suggested this awareness has not reached North Wales. I had the worst week of eating out that I’ve had for a long time and the Oakley Arms was one of the worst. No GF options were marked on the menu so I asked at the bar where I was handed a lever arch file and left to figure it out for myself. Each dish was listed along the top of the page with big green ticks indicating the presence of various allergens. There were no starters available to me and I was beginning to think there were no main courses either having turned through several pages of green ticks in the “gluten” column before finally finding the single gluten free main course, which proved to be a piece of chicken and vegetables drowned in a pool of a bland, white, cream sauce. I thought they had redeemed themselves with my favourite dessert of Eton Mess being listed as GF but when it arrived it was without the meringue as they had discovered that was not gluten free. Such a negative dining experience is very disappointing. I thought the hospitality trade was more enlightened in 2019.

Visited here with my partner on 20th July and had a nice meal. The young lad on the bar was really friendly and efficient. I had the woodland chicken which was tasty and my partner had a rambler sandwich with fries, it looked lovely and he really enjoyed it, only one small issue, he said his fries could of been hotter. We will return for another meal next time we are in the area.

A top-notch Sunday carvery here at a great price with a fantastic dessert. A very welcoming pub and cosy pub/hotel in Snowdonia, the staff were friendly and it was lovely to hear the Welsh staff speak Welsh to some of the customers. Highly recommended.

Whilst staying locally in Blaenau Festiniog we was recommend this place to eat and what a lovely place it was too. Service was good and the food was ample. Particularly enjoyed the welsh stew with artisan bread (yum yum). The atmosphere was relaxed and staff more than helpful.

The Oakley sits in a very prominent position - you cant miss it! They accept dogs, and although you are restricted to the bar area, this is absolutely no detriment, as its just as good if not better than some restaurants. Good portion sizes, quick service, and tasty food. A good experience, so recommended.

The food here was delicious, you could tell that all the foods was fresh and made from scratch. We felt very comfortable and would strongly recommend to families. They also allowed us to bring our dog. Staff were very kinda and helpful. Lastly the environment itself was very homely, has a lovely garden area with a fantastic view. 5 star rating is definitely the way to go.

This was a very disappointing meal and not cheap. We sent food back because it was cold - when it came back it was not much better - it certainly hadn’t been remade - just the chips warmed up. The onion rings were full of fat and the ribs over cooked. Chicken Caesar salad was warm with too much sauce and next to no salad leaf. I rarely leave poor reviews but this was just an awful meal.

After a long day cycling, looked in here on recommendation and although it might need a bit of refreshment at some point, it felt nicely rustic. What was amazing though was the food - I had a chicken burger with a yogurt dip and it was absolutely gorgeous. My son had the fish and chips and we argued over whether the French invented chunky chips or not, thoroughly enjoying ourselves!

After my last visit here I said I'd never go back, but my daughter had said the food was a lot better (she visited in the summer). I should have kept my own thoughts about the place, as AGAIN the food was not cooked, the ribs my wife and I had were inedible, we complained and they offered us dessert!! FFS we wanted a meal we could eat not bloody dessert and at £15 each I would have expected it, but they just walked away and never came back!! Our friend meal looked ok when it arrived but, on closer inspection the meat that was not under the crust of the pie was burnt and also inedible, and she only managed to eat half of the meal. I now think they have different chefs for summer and off season, and the off season chef is possibly the cleaner, as she cant cook!

Visited the Oakley Arms 3 -10-18 and we couldn't fault it at all. We had the Hunters Chicken and the Turkey and Ham pie and they were both beautifully cooked and presented. We also had the syrup sponge and custard and the Oakley Eton mess which I had which was fantastic. Have eaten here before and would definitely eat here again it is my favourite eating place. Thank you.

We thought we would give this pub another go as it had fallen out of favour with us, but glad we did. The staff were welcoming, the service very efficient and we both chose Lobscouse (haven't had this in years) which was very tasty. It looked like it had undergone a bit of an upgrade and was all the better for it. Well done. We'll be back.

Reading some bad reviews we thought we would try it anyway. Not a bad decision. Nice beer, fine house smoked salmon and also the main course was good. Nothing fancy but definitely not less than any other restaurants we went to. Give it a try.

There is times of the day where there's no alternative for having a coffee in town. We went here twice during our visit of Caernarfon. I did not take a coffee at the second visit as I didn't like it. It is less clean inside and everything seems a little loveless. The sweet cakes etc. are great though. At least, the products are rather inexpensive.

We made the mistake of going back to this pub having visited several times over the years, it was completely dead and the bar lady had a serious attitude problem, when two other guests arrived the bar woman was now siting in the corner and i pointed her out simple saying the bar woman was over there - she completely turned on me obviously annoyed i’d called her a bar woman ( she clearly wasn’t a solicitor) which also resulted in her partner becoming extremely aggressive and was expecting a physical assault to be taking place, luckily i managed to de escalate the situation which if full of locals would’ve only been worse. The woman clearly has mental health problems and probably a drug user and shouldn’t be working in an environment selling alcohol.

Alana is a scam artist. Sends damaged squashed and disgusting cakes and then refuses to refund, would not order again from these people

We were looking for somewhere downtown harlech for a drink and food with our two boys, 9 and 14 years of age. We read the sign outside. Everyone welcome except for children. Dogs especially welcome. Adults only. A few of the local guys told me it's a swingers hotel where the dogs can get involved. Avoid. If you do want a good pint with holiday makers and locals all enjoying good food and drink and friendly conversation I would highly recommend walking an extra 200yds to the pub right next to the train station. Dogs, kids, humans all seem to be equally welcome

We popped in without a booking but were happy to have our meal in the bar area. The service was good, prices reasonable and we both had the fish and chips which was excellent. We were staying nearby and would definitely return if we are in the area again.A beautiful location next to the sea.
