As soon as I cut into the haddock I could smell that it was not fresh. A very pungent smell. My son’s haddock also had a very pungent smell. The chips had obviously been re-cooked . At a cost of £35 for the full 5 meals it can only be described as disgusting . I think that trading standards should make a visit to these premises.

I have lived a few doors from this chippy for15 years and when we moved here it was great. There was usually a queue at the counter and the restaurant was full. The food was really fresh and well cooked with lots of home made extras. Since LongJohns took over its gone down hill completely. The restaurant is closed and the food on the limited menu is not good. The batter is soggy not crispy the chips are a mixed bag of different sizes with eyes and bits of skin. I went today to give it a last try and it was bad. The piece of haddock was very small and covered with skin and the batter still a soggy coating. The chips were cold and mostly small with eyes ,skin and lots of small bits too hard to eat. Obviously cheap spuds cheap fish and no care. Never again untill we have another owner and the neighbours agree.

Uninterested staff and poorly cooked, greasy food. The food portion size is a joke compared to what they charge for it, the place is uninviting and cold. The individual cooking was more interested in her paper than she was in what she prepared. When this place was the Oakdale Fisheries it was 1st class… now, you’re better off heading to the Tatnam or to Creekmoor to spend your money.

Visited this shop this week and to my surprise they do not offer regular chip shop vinegar & salt as they serve your order instead they give you sachets which in my mind is not the same! When I asked why they blamed it on COVID!! I can understand they may not want to have customers handles bottle but they should be able to do it as they are cooking my order.

Ordered standard cod and chips, it came in suspiciously stabled bag, should have realised it was a scam by the 10g weight. Drove home , opened bag and fish box.....there was a L shaped fish finger and 10 chips in bag. My son burst out laughing, how much did u pay he asked, £8 said I, why didn't u go to skates he replied, it was closed. Drove back and asked for money back , guy said size was standard, not sure what that meant, as this was the smallest take away portion ever. I want my £8 back, he was getting a bit aggressive, said I was talking crop...got my money back.

Popped in for large portion of chips & 2 pea fritters....£6.80. The portion was far from "large" and pea fritters (£1.50 each) were tiny. The food was well cooked, however due to the very disappointing value for money I wont be returning anytime soon : ( Well done for using paper bags tho - and saving us all from more plastic : )

Great fish and chips from Oakdale Fishery wether it's the lunch time portion or for an evening meal we've always enjoyed it. There's so many fish and chip shops in the area that get it so wrong, but this is not one of them

Excellent food at a reasonable price, service was very good, served by friendly and professional staff who despite the busy evening all wore a smile and appeared to enjoy their job.

On works night out. We were going on a boat and went to The Lord Nelson for a drink first. Bar girl asked us to quieten down (one other couple in the bar) as she said we can't be louder than the music and also the landlord was upstairs sleeping. Unbelievable! You couldn't make it up. Suffice to say we did not go back after being on the boat.

See wcided to try the Sunday roast and was not disappointed. My son had the kids beef roast and I had the adult beef roast, both of us loved it. Followed up with home made apple crumble. Lovely food and really good service. Can't wait to go back.

Our group enjoyed a good meal at the Yachtsman this evening, Selina and her team were very welcoming and helpful, and the pub was cosy, warm and decorated with lots of festive cheer on a cold winter’s night :-)
