What an amazing fish & chips shop. The owners are very nice, welcoming & funny. Food was delicious and cooked to order. Went to buy fish and chips. The male manager/owner was shouting and verbally abusing two members of staff who were really good at what they were doing. My advice to them is not to tolerate such abusive behaviour, I know I certainly wouldn't. Guys a nasty person and needs to lose custom but hope his staff find better jobs.

I went to Oakdale Chippy straight from being picked up from work with my wife and 2 kids and wanted to get dinner. We got the 15’ family box and it was delicious, the portion size was huge and the meat was full of flavour. I would definitely recommend to come here if you’re looking for dinner or even lunch as the food quality is great and the service was impeccable. Such polite two owners.

Spent nearly £25 on 2 meals of dry fish and terrible chips. Purchased on a Friday evening at 6pm and it was as if we had been served chips that had been reheated from the lunchtime service. Same experience a few months ago. I won't be returning to buy again.

Everyone is friendly and has a cheerful atmosphere, food had big portions, good prices, freshly made and over all, tasted amazing!

I ordered a 15" pizza box meal which was really big they needed sellotape to close the box. The chips was sooo nice. If anyone is wanting a takeaway for a few people this would be good for that

I had spent the day tidying up and cleaning my house on a Tuesday lasr week and I couldn't be bothered to cookl for our dinner I decided to order fish & chips and. kebab. At 1 time the guy hung up on me on the phone and I just thought maybe it was a mistake and I called back only to be answered by a lady who said the guy couldn't hear me so well on the phone. I was a bit upset by that but didnt want to pick up an argunent but just went ahead to place an order. The food came on time but OMG! It was awful and it was pure poison to say the least! Nothing was fresh, the chips were stale and dry, the fish was grossly greasy, the kebab was dry and cold, and the sauces we ordered were not there. It was nothing short of a scam! I don't know the owners of that place but I just felt that the service I got was probably linked to my accent. This is how I felt otherwuse there is no good explanation to this poor service. I also wish if I was there ordering the food it would have a better quality as we would see whats being prepared. I went for a home delivery service because I had read some goid reviews about this place i will never again order from them

First time visitor to Oakdale and it won’t be the last. It was a pleasure to be served by Mario, who clearly knows how to make his customers feel welcome. Onto the food… the fish was the highlight, absolutely terrific.

First of all, Mario is such a lovely guy, he was such a laugh & great to talk to whilst I waited. He was also really patient with me whilst I tried to make my mind up which I appreciate a lot as a bit of a scatterbrain. The food here is all absolutely delicious, and you can see the quality & freshness of it all as soon as you walk in. I wasn't sure what size fish to get & Mario held the different cuts up to help me decide & then put them in the fryer once I'd decided & I could see that they were fresh & good quality fish. The chip portions are very generous & the Mushy peas & curry sauce are beautiful & super tasty. The chippy itself is so clean, you can see the kitchen area from the waiting area & it's spotless. The chippy accepts cash & card so there's an option for everyone depending on your preference. This is absolutely one of the tastiest chippies I've been to, & definitely the friendliest. I decided to try Oakdale Chippy because they're always winning the top spot in the Nottingham Post's Best Fish & Chips vote & it's very clear to see why! I'll be coming again & would recommend them to anyone.

After living in the area for over five years and having used this chippy rather a lot it pains me to think I have never left them a review until now. A failing on my part! Firstly the food. I come from the South West and lived on the coast where I could get fish straight off the boat and take it across the road to get it fried (for a fryer's fee). Simply the best you can get. As we're in the middle of the country I have never expected that much. However, the fish here is outstanding and very professionally fried. The chips are good wholesome old-fashioned chips which bring back memories although, and this is quite important, they have no greasy feel or taste to them. Sausages are of high quality, my mother always said you can gauge a place by the sausages. She wasn't wrong in my experience. Fishcakes are really nice and anything battered is excellently cooked to leave it as crispy as it should. Talking of my mother she visited last week and I took her here. She "took a chance" (her words) on the fish and was far from disappointed. Her words "I've not had good fish that flakes like this for a long time" - that I can assure you is very high praise. Next up Staff. Yes, I have intentionally used a capital letter there. The family are friendly and willing to cater to almost any request, I've often thought about how I could challenge them but that's just in my nature. I do enjoy going in knowing that when I do, if I'm waiting for food or food being wrapped, then I know there's always an opportunity for some good conversation. It is always nice to be remembered too. After COVID it was hard for me to get out and one of the first places I did venture to was here. Nothing had changed. Their enthusiasm for their business and customers had not changed. They suffered very badly during and after COVID - energy prices almost crippled them! If you're prepping good quality food for a large number of people and trying to keep your prices down then you have your back against the wall with the floor crumbling beneath you. They not only managed this but have once again started to thrive. Top-notch place, eat here and you won't be disappointed. There would have been photos this time but the kids and I scoffed the food up before we could grab a phone for one of those annoying food pictures I hate to see on social media. NOTE: I have not received any products or services for this review.

Easily the best chippy in the area ! Very friendly family run business. The food is always great quality and really tasty. ( the fish cakes have lovely flakey fish inside rather than mush you get from other chip shops ) highly recommended!

Extremely friendly. Great service. Unfortunately, the fish and chips did not live up to the hype. I asked for fish to be cooked to order but was assured the fish sat in the heater was fresh. The fish was not fresh and had been sitting for at least 20+ minutes. It was chewy and inedible in parts and tasty in a few of thicker spots. The chips fell foul to being overheated too. Such a shame as the owners were lovely. Would we return? No.

Not my normal chipshop but I called in on the way home after getting soaked on a long walk. Very friendly staff and a good selection of items on the menu. I ordered our staple of large chips, battered sausage and curry sauce. Myself and my teenage son share this combo ( he has the sausage) and there were almost too many chips for us to get through. Extremely good value for money and very friendly service. Jo who served us also is a member of olio so there are free food items on the table from the local Tesco, there to prevent food wastage. Great chippy, will definitely go again.

Always a friendly atmosphere when I go in this establishment, the food is always prepared quickly there is a wide range of options of food and not forgetting your cold drink from the fridge to have with your meal. The owners are very friendly and polite and will will mention anything that is new on the board to try, I must add it's very clean as well keep up the good work Jo and Mario 👏

After being warned not to use the shop we made a mistake and called in because it was empty as we passed. We waited Nearly 20mins for the order . The fish smell in the car was vile, 2 days later our house still smells of the fish. It was expensive and poor service. Be warned. It did taste OK but the smell was vile.

Just had fish and chips delivered… fish dried up, batter stuck to paper. Looks as though it’s been sat for hours. Same issue previously and thought we’d give it another chance. Never again!

Been going here for years. Staff are brilliant, food is amazing. Will go the extra mile if you were not totally satisfied. Would recommend the battered haloumi and chips. Would definitely be eating here again!

Wow, they did it again. It’s not just sourcing the best fish, cooking it just right makes all the difference. Chips were Devine too. Had curry sauce which as always was very tasty. Couldn’t fault it.

Staff are super friendly and provide a service with a smile! The food is incredible, huge portions and fresh. We are huge fans of the pizza boxes in particular. A small box easily feeds 2 adults and 3 children.
