As usual - the service and the food is excellent. Offering great value for money. I've been using this cafe for over 20 years and treat myself every few weeks to one of the best fry-ups in the country. The place is always busy - so that in itself is a great indicator and lots of locals use this place on a regular basis too. 5* from me.

Excellent for a cooked breakfast. Spacious, no frills space on the Gloucester Road. The woman serving at the till doesn’t win any prizes for smiling friendliness, but the cappuccino and poached eggs and sausages were excellent - and all for under £10.

The lady on the till with the dark hair in a ponytail was EXTREMELY MISERABLE and has no business interacting w/ the paying public. I asked to change the tomato with an egg and she said no then proceeded to tell me about the price of eggs going "through the roof" versus asking me to pay an extra 50p to a pound to cover the cost which I would have glady paid. Ironically that was literally the only time she spoke. She clearly would rather have been anywhere else other than working there. The price of the big breakfast is £8.50 which is a tad expensive however with a tee or coffee it would have been fair, except... It doesn't come with a tee or coffee and will add another £1.50 to the bill. The breakfast was decent however it's just such a shame the ladies mood was soooooo sour. You won't struggle to find better deals with more pleasant staff on Gloucester rd and I urge you to spend your money elsewhere. 1 star is being generous.

Three of us met on Gloucester Rd and wanted to eat but one of my friends is Muslim so we needed to be mindful of his diet options. i was surprised when he suggested the Oak Tree as I didn't think it would be his choice but it worked out fine. The venue is clean and bright with nice big tables and plenty of space. There were 3-4 tables already taken when we arrived but it got busier as it neared dinner time. We ordered at the counter choosing from the black board menu behind the counter, though some of the writing was a bit small. I chose the large breakfast (£7.50) plus a white tea with sugar. I could have had toast or fried bread. My mate chose the small Breakfast and my other friend chose, Eggs, Mushrooms and Tomatoes on Toast. They had a black tea and a black Coffee. The total bill was £19.40 which is pretty good for three breakfast's and three drinks. The food was reasonable, well cooked and nicely presented. Sausages were a bit disappointing as they were commercial and there are lots of places where you can get a good sausage locally. The black pudding was a bit undistinguished too but for the money, it was fine. Staff were friendly and service was good. In summary, this was a typical Cafe serving reasonable food at a reasonable price, though the Cottage pie ( dinner menu) looked fantastic. I have a few small criticisms but hardly worth mention in this review. Well worth a visit if you're on Gloucester Rd and your hungry . We will come back again.

Great breakfast, superb roast dinners, being a labourer i have visited many cafe in and around Bristol. Prices are very good, meals are well presented, all the staff are friendly and helpful. Being open 7 days a week is an added benefit. Decoration is simple and clean, saying that I go there for a good meal, and there is always a nice atmosphere. Many times i have traveled passed many cafes to go for lunch or breakfast at the Oaktree, Already looking forward to my next visit.

Quite simply the only place you ever need to go for a cooked breakfast in the area. You may, if you are lucky find a breakfast as good somewhere, but it will be twice the price. You won't find one better. 308 Gloucester rd. is the place to fuel up for a trek up and down this most excellent shopping and entertainment road. A varied but simple menu of real food well done. The cafe is a clean and simply furnished establishment, for function not decoration is the feel. We love it and we always come back for the best breakfast in Bristol. Superb!

My boyfriend and I went recently to this cafe for a breakfast. The food was really good and we were surprised of how cheap it was, less than £5 for a very decent sized breakfast! service was good too. Will definitely come back!

Still the number one place to go for a full English breakfast in the area, if not in the city. 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 hash browns, beans, tomatoes, egg and toast/fried bread all for just £4.70!!!!! Brilliant value and brilliant cooking. All in a very clean establishment and very pleasant staff. This is only the medium breakfast, more than enough for both my son and myself, but there is a larger one should you require it. Tea or coffee for a further 80p a cup - absolutely a baragin. Will be back again and would very highly recommend.

What a difference a day makes. The words couldn't be truer. Yesterday in Salisbury I paid £9.50 for a bowl of slop. Today we had 2 beautiful breakfasts, 1 tea and 1 coffee all for the pricey sum of £9.00 This is a really good place to eat not only because the prices are very, very good but because the food is excellent as well. We only opted for the small breakfast because it is more than enough but there are larger portions on offer or a good selection of cooked dinners, again at very reasonable prices. I spotted one chap with a dinner as we walked to our table - it looked delicious and I think even I would have struggled to have eaten it all. Will be back again for sure and would recommend very highly indeed. GREAT PLACE.

My husband & I try to pop in to the Oak Tree occasionally on a Monday, when he has a day off. Although we're trying to be 'good' the lure of a breakfast can't be ignored. It doesn't matter what time we go there, the food is always perfectly cooked, fresh & tasty. Best brekkie in Gloucester Rd. The small which I have really isn't that small so it's value for money too.

I am surprised it hasn't been reviewed more, as every time I have been in the café it has been very busy and very popular with a consistent stream of customers. Perhaps if people only see 5 reviews it puts them off from leaving a review. Regardless, very good café. The service is very fast and efficient. It's quite a nice large space when a lot of other eating establishments on the Gloucester Road can be rather cramped.

My husband and I had to take our friends for a pre-assessment appointment at Bristol early yesterday morning so didn’t bother with breakfast. We drove on out of the city and stopped at a Co-op store and opposite was the Oak Tree cafe! We ordered not really expecting too much but had a wonderful surprise; breakfast was beautifully presented and very tasted absolutely delicious! No brown curly bits around the eggs, no give away signs on top of them being under cooked either. The bacon, sausages, hash browns, tomato, and fried bread couldn’t have been cooked better and we would go back again anytime - gladly in fact. A fantastic meal at a marvellous price! Congratulations to all the staff!!

Only recently found this place and that they do roast lunch on Sundays. Cracking value and reasonable quality for £5. If its Sunday and your on Gloucester Road and fancy a roast this is the place. They do close early on Sunday, around 2.30 pm

Has to be one of the best places for breakfast in Bristol. Nothing fancy just a neat, clean cafe serving an absolutely perfect breakfast at an extremely reasonable price. Can only manage the small one myself and believe me that is more than enough. Beautifully cooked, nice cup of tea and very pleasant, accommodating staff.

Fantastic service by David for our beautiful and very tasty wedding cheese cake a couple of weeks ago. All negotiations were by phone or email, so sadly I didn't get to meet David, but he was so helpful with regard to choosing the cheeses and the amount required for the number of guests . David delivered the cheese to the wedding venue personally and absolutely when he said he would. A friend decorated it beautifully with figs, ivy, grapes etc and the guests had a fantastic time eating it! It looked wonderful despite someone - who thought they were helping - cutting the beautiful red rind off the cheddar - which was definitely not supposed to happen! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend David and his wonderful cheese cakes for your wedding - or any other type of celebration. Thank you for an efficient, friendly service.

Had pre-booked a table in advance. Staff didn’t acknowledge me when I walked in, even though I was standing in front of them over the bar. Ended up just sitting down ourselves. We had a big group (10), but had pre booked and were asked to pre order our food, which is fine. But despite that, we didn’t even get our coffees for over an hour. When I asked when they would come, two members of staff basically just shrugged at me and said ‘we are busy’. It’s annoying when they use busy as an excuse when I booked about a month before and pre ordered. Don’t let in more people than you can handle. But it wasn’t even full either. Because it took so long to get our food, the owner offered us our coffees for free. But to be honest, my main issue is how rude and dissinterested most of the staff I interacted with were, and the fact we were made pre order and it made zero difference.

We were met by a very abrupt waitress who made us sit on a table for two, which had other occupied tables located very close to either side of us. There were several other empty tables where we could have sat without invading the existing customers privacy. We did not feel any of the staff were particularly friendly, the food was very over priced, and we took a very dim view of the waitress opening the front door and allowing the cold air into the restaurant on what was a very cold wet day outside. This made most customers feel very uncomfortable. We felt it was like they were saying, “we have had your money, so the quicker you leave now the better”. One customer got up and closed the door, and the waitress immediately went up to the front of the shop and opened the window. For how rudely we were treated, it’s a wonder they had any customers at all. We will not be going back !
