I ordered the chicken gyro wrap. It came out warm and quickly. Love the new skin on fries. Sally and Mikayla were nice and kind. Quick serve, props to the chef/chefs

Walked in , walked out , empty very cold place, only one man standing , nobody else to be seen . The website states " warm welcome" not in our experience, because nobody was around to welcome anybody.

So it was absolutely disgusting service tonight my daughter who is 18 years old yes she had no id but was told she couldn’t finish her drink which was fine. The food was cold to which I got a member of staff to feel the food which she agreed with me that it was cold (felt like it was straight out the fridge) and when I mentioned this when I went to pay nothing was done about this absolutely disgusting then we was outside waiting for a taxi and my daughter who is 18 was vaping and the manager told us we had to leave as she had no id what a joke I work for the company it’s shocking behaviour how rude it was tonight disgusting.

Came with my children, as I often do for dinner, was denied service because I had a bralette top on and high waisted trousers as it was the barmaids against preference, not against dress code. Been wearing it all day in other venues. No problem. Embarrassing for me and my children . Will not be coming back

We booked a table for 6.45, we arrived early at 6.30 and we’re shown to our table. No mention of any issues at all, there was a scan code on the table for ordering on the phone which we did at 6.45 food and drinks. The drinks came within 10 minutes, at 7.45 I asked where our food was to be told that they were busy because everyone ordered at the same time, and the wait was an hour. At 8 o’clock we were told that the last portion of mashed potato had been burnt and cooked our youngest have chips instead which we agreed to, then at 8.30, 1hr 45 minutes after ordering the food finally arrived most of which was cold and uneditable. Having spoken to the waiter he said just go to the bar and get a full refund, which I did. Obviously we’d never return again.

Bought my mum out to try the bingo on Thursday night.Staff were friendly and service was quick.Atmoshere was lively and everyone very friendly.We had a great evening and will be returning next week.Maybe even visit earlier and eat before the bingo.Menu looked very tasty

Came here for the 2 course groupon deal, after waiting 20 minutes for the starter, to be told they didn't have any calamari left. I chose the chicken wings, which came out about 10 minutes later to find the batter hot, but the chicken/bone cold like it had been in the fridge. I complained they were apologetic and replaced it shortly after, however it did make me feel apprehensive to eat it. Main course I ordered the chicken sizzler, that didn't come out sizzling with quite soggy veg. Looked like onions were boiled rather than fried. The staff did ask if all was OK. Since I'd eaten it, I said yes. Waitress was polite. Not sure if they have a new team or understaffed in the kitchen but it wasn't a great experience.

Shocking meal. My daughter had to go back to Manchester after the meal and was running out of time for her leave or we would have been refunded and gone somewhere else. I ordered sausage and mash and my daughter Chicken fajitas. After 25 minutes we were told there was no fajita spice so we accepted chicken and peppers and onions. 40 minutes later told there was no mash and I could choose another dish to the same value. I chose Chilli con carne. Meal arrived 55 minutes after we ordered. Chicken was bone dry not sizzling and the peppers and onions looked like they were cooked a month before we were also missing Gaucamole. Even the waitress said she wouldn't have ate it. Chilli was bland and watery. Had 2 free desserts but it was such a mess I would never go in for food again. The waitress looked so embarrassed but was friendly and I felt sorry for her being front of house. Completely unorganised in the kitchen.

Called in to a local pub that I’ve often thought I’d try So glad I did atmosphere was great , lovely friendly environment, superb polite staff Special mention to Lauren such a pleasant and welcoming member of staff Will definitely be using this public house again :) Would recommend people visit and experience it for themselves

Booked a table of 10 for me and my friends, and despite the large number of people they got all the food out to us really quickly. Highly recommend the Goodfella burger which was cooked by Liam. Drink service came from Alisha; had amazing customer service, she was very friendly. Can’t wait to come again!

I’ve often criticised the pub for their lack of staff, their unprofessional attitude and poor food. BUT this time the food was good and the staffing levels was still low, the staff where friendly and attentive. Thank you this evening was brilliant.

Took a while to recieve our meals, it was busy and I was told our meals would be 40 minutes when ordering. They only had 2 staff on Lorrain and Shareen and they looked run off their feet but I can't fault them the service I recieved was fantastic! Friendly, extremely helpful and polite! Extra thank you to Lorrain as she was obviously in some sort of pain but she still went above and beyond to make sure everyone at our table was happy. Thank you we will definitely be coming back again soon

Myself and my husband decided to come for dinner and a few evening drinks. We both had the Mac Daddy loaded steaks , with extra chips and mushroom loaded garlic bread. We both enjoyed our meals , Matthew cleared his plate I left some as very full . Drinks great too . Staff are lovely and I was served very quickly each time I went to the bar. Well, given the current pandemic you’d expect pubs to want to make money and be successful? You’d be wrong at this pub. After being directed to our table we took our seats and there was no sign of any staff keen to take a drinks order. Finally we managed to place a food order, and food was OK and pretty good value with a 2-4-1 offer. Then we were left with no offers of further drinks and the plates were not cleared. We could not get anyone’s attention so ordered deserts from the app. Only to then find that the kitchen closed at 7:30pm... Really? Last orders at that time seems crazy if they want to make money ...so instead we left disappointed and apparently should have been advised that we needed to order everything in one go, which we weren’t. Add to this that we had a staff member not wearing a mask and involved in serving food (if exempt that’s fine, but not performing this role please) this is really the worst pub we have visited since the virus and the lack of effort to serve their customers was very apparent and deemed terrible by all of us.

Front of house very efficient, food excellent.The menus were not clean - The cutlery was not clean - the table was dubious and the floor was not clean. I take my own cutlery and condiments because the cutlery provided in most establishments is not clean. I also take my own spray and wipes for the table and I am always surprised at the dirt. The old, laminated menus were covered in grease - disposable paper ones should be used instead for those of us who don't use the app.I will not be returning, even with the 50% discount promotion.

Went to try out the eat out to help out scheme although I have dined here several times.sally made sure everyone sanitised and track and traced before they could come in.only waited about 10 mins for the food which was delicious I had the mixed grill .there is a one way system in place the only down side was if your in the conservatory bit people have to keep walking past you on the one way system but I suppose that’s a little price to pay with all of this going on Well worth a visit and wasn’t that busy at all

Called in for breakfast ordered a small breakfast with no bacon or egg, asked if we could have an extra sausage in their place and were charged for the extra sausage.Be careful of having a sizzling breakfast you will never have seen so maney onions.We were with friends and they fancied the Oak for an afternoon meal. Ordered two fish and chips and a meat pie. The fish and chips ere nthing to write home about, on the cold side. The meat pie couldn't be eaten after removing the lid and picking it up it was as hard a nails. We mentioned it and she couldn't have cared a damm.

Not very busy but service still took a while, reasonable choices of alcohol, had a few while waiting for the Chinese pre-ordered to be ready, worth a pint.

Need to get the bloody heating working !! Decent place, good staff & reasonable prices - just bloody cold & everyone in there wearing coats & body warmers !! If you want people to visit in the winter months - provide a nice atmosphere & bit of heat to encourage them to come, & when they are there - to stay!!

Found this place via Google maps, and while the exterior wasn't that inviting (it was a miserable day) the inside has a nice atmosphere.The chain pub menu is the one with the 'messy Mexican', always a favourite of ours. It was served well and piping hot, not an enormous portion but big enough. The Italian chicken was good too.Friendly staff added to the experience.

This pub is a great local but, while I’m no snob, the bar staff apart from the young woman need lessons in manners. No please no thank you no manners. Manners cost nothing and when you ask politely you expect the same back. 3 visits now and same every time. Shame on you and not necessary. I have mentioned to one of the bar guys let’s hope it improves.

Disappointed here, we chose the meals we wanted. Three/four of the things we chose we couldn't have as none left! Reluctantly picked something else each time I was told it wasnt available. Waited a very long time for the food to come out. When it came the adults had small, no frills portions. Didn't feel full for the money spent. Kids desserts also took an age to come out even though we went to ask about them. The coffee was nice I guess? Wont be visiting again I'm afraid.

Friday afternoon and drinking Stella in the beer garden at the Oak and Acorn, nice time, good drink and staff were friendly, worth a pint.

Had a mixed grill, was very nice and hit the spot nicely. Only slight gripe was a lot of fat on the gammon. Beer was very good and at a very reasonable price. Would have no qualms about going for another meal and drink here in the future.

Visted for the first time in a number of years, and was very surprised with the choice of food and the friendliness of the bar staff. The pub has just undergone a refurb of quiet a high standard and provides good value for food and drinks

Went in today with my hubby and mother in law for a meal. had the burger but didn’t want the bbq sauce but asked for the peri peri sauce instead.Nothing was too much trouble as I can be very picky.Absolutely loved it, my hubby had surf and turf and the steak was cooked to perfection ( well done chef who cooked that even I tried it and was beautiful)! The two ladies on were friendly and seemed to work together as a team to all tables taking out the food , I do love the bacon and Brie baguettes but didn’t see that in ur menu and I do love them so that was my only fault with today’s visit if u could bring it back to the menu that would be AWESOME

Breakfast has changed in past couple of months to include chips! Been last couple of weeks and substitute chips for hash browns. Breakfast is quite good but what always lets it down is toast which is never toasted and is virtually bread.Even when you tell them to make surebread us toasted it still comes out as bread. I for one will not be eating at this place again.

The woman behind the bar who goes by the name of donner, was very rude and abusive to me to the point I had to take a break due to me crying, this disgusting woman should be thought some manners as she was walking around the pub being extremely aggressive to me and my very nice frewnds who were being very respectful of the establishment until we got kicked out just because we didn’t fit the ‘locals’ view of who they would like in the pub.

Nice pub friendly staff and it has had a full makeover. Good selection of drinks and outdoor seating too. Well recommended

If you want a quick pint then don't bother going in here . At times the large bar and lounge serving areas have just one person attending to both , and when there is more than one serving they spend most of the time talking to each other . If you can get served within 5 minutes you're doing well .

We have visited here a few times with family for tea and i think it really depends on who is cooking as to the quality of food. The board said Pauline was the chef and was the nicest and hottest food we have had to date. I will definitely be looking at who is the chef in future. On a bad note the staff and the lady manager seemed really rushed and rude.

I had not been in here for years so did know what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. They have just had a refurbishment so it was very clear. The atmosphere was welcoming. It was very busy so I would suggest booking if you go.

Looking at the front it seems to have had a partial makeover . Inside looked clean and tidy. I noted that by the banter between customers and staff this is a local for regulars. I ordered from the special over 60s menu just to see what it offered. I ordered battered mushrooms with sour dip followed by 4oz gammon with egg extra ,and a drink. The price was just over £7, not bad.Mushrooms were not full mushrooms , they were half a mushroom !! although the menu stated MUSHROOMS, NOT A HALF. Gammon was fine and for me it was enough on this occasion. The meal itself was ok and the service was good. On a visit to the toilets i noticed the toilet rolls were just put on the cisterns even though the holders were empty. There were plenty of signs that a good cleaning was wanted. I exited by a side door where the entire area was littered with cigarette ends. These were many days worth so very sloppy cleaning all round. This always makes me think that if they can't clean customer areas properly what are the kitchens like. So it seems that the pub has only had a part revamp.Come on , get it cleaned.

Terrible place, horrible staff. Would not recommend this place if you like leaving somewhere with a smile.

Meal was ok nothing special but once again asked for mug of tea and as usual you get small coffee cup and at one pound forty it's a bit much for some hot water and a tea bag.

Newly updated and much needed in my humble opinion, good to see investment into one of two pubs on the large Oakwood estate, better inside and staff seem more attentive, will visit again to sample more alcohol in a better environment, well done.

Newly refurbished, very nice! Polite and welcoming staff as always. Booked online really easy. We had starters and a main, and a couple of drinks, bonus was we got £5 off our bill as a thank you from the oak and acorn to welcome us back after the refurb. I had soup of the day, tomato and basil with warmed baguette and butter followed by the triple stack burger, with chips. My husband had loaded skins with chilli to start followed by the new pepper Jack burger with chips. Large portions, well worth the money. Well done to all the staff we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the pub looks great!

Was passing by so stopped off for dinner break had a starter which consisted of 3 chicken nuggets and a lettuce leaf for £3,79 another starter which was halloumi chips 5 in total again for £3,79 mains was fish and chips which was a little better value fish was nice place needs some TLC definitely wouldn't recommend the starters not value for money at all drinks was ok

We went for tea, we have eaten here many times and it has always been a bit hit and miss although any issues have been sorted out. We haven’t been for ages and decided on the spur of the moment to go for tea. Monday night, around 5pm... the place wasn’t busy at all but the bar service was very slow. Messy Mexican burger for me and a triple stack for the other half. Plates were cold, food was tepid and it looked like something the kids would cook. Tasteless, cold and bland. It makes me sad as I have had such better food there. I would have complained but standing at the bar waiting to be served is painful and there were no waiting staff available. We finished our meals and the dirty plates stayed on our table till we left 45 minutes later. The pub was still not busy so I have no idea where any of the staff were. Really disappointed... not sure we will bother again.

Attended the pub last night looking forward to my week off and as a celebration decided to have a meal at the local pub. Decided to have the new crispy sweet chilli beef Sizzler is it looked good and sounded great. My partner had the American platter. We reserved a table as we had eaten there three or 4 times before and we're always impressed. The food arrived promptly and looked great at first sight. My partner was very satisfied with her American platter. However I'm starting to eat my Sizzler I found that one be prawn cracker was well over cooked and brown round the edges. I thought hey ho and continued to go to the meet full stop the meat was hard and over cooked. Going to the onions and peppers that were on the Sizzling plate they were cold and undercooked full stop I couldn't find anybody to complain about food so just left my plate which is it her just put me off over and under cooked food in a greasy plate was not mentally or physically pleasing full stop halfway through my partner's meal I found a waitress who was clearing a table and complained about the food. Explained my complaints and it wasn't satisfactory and could you please take the food away. She did this and by the time But someone came back to me regarding my meal the manager my partner had finished her meal. Again I explained why I had not eaten the food and the manager turned around and said that no one else had complained about the food that the onions and the Papas were pre-prepared and therefore could not be undercooked and that the Sizzling beef was supposed to be crispy. I tried to explain that crispy beef that I've had on many occasions was not supposed to be over cooked and that even if the onions and pepper were pre-cooked on a sizzling dish they would have browned off a little and not sat in fat. The manager said that no one else had complained and offered me an alternative meal. My partner had already finished her meal so I was offered an ice cream full stop at no point was there an apology I was not asking for a refund and never was raised. As stated I've eaten there on three or four occasions before and never been dissatisfied but found that both the meal was atrocious and the customer care was beyond belief when my girlfriend went to pay for the bill she was told that the meal had been deducted as a gesture of Goodwill to encourage us to return. This is not going to happen

Previously attended this pub with my husband and he refused to go again for quite a while. Last week called with my children and the food was absolutely lovely. Young man behind the bar was very professional and polite, and nothing was too much trouble. All ordered different meals from the menu, and all plates were left clean. Fast forward 3 days later, and OMG what a completely different experience. Managed to persuade my husband to give it another try following my very positive feedback to him. He reluctantly agreed and I’ve got to say Oak and Acorn you made me look like a complete liar. The food was awful, my husband ordered mixed grill, sausages all split and not the usual sausages used for the grills, these were very cheep. Daughters Mash was Smash, it was dry and powdery, the chips were disgusting, and honestly looked like left overs that had been re cooked. In fact one had tomato sauce on the corner, And none of use had tomato sauce.

I would like to thank Sally and her staff for the help and warm welcome during our visit to this lovely local bar/restaurant.Also a big thank you to the locals for their welcome and support given to my wife who entertained them for the night.This hidden gem is worth a visit if you’re passing through Derby.It is a great local restaurant to visit and have a lovely meal and great service with great staff.Hope to see you all soon and Thank you once again.

Me and my partner have been regulars for many years. We've spent a lot of money, had many meals/nights out and spent the last 3 New Years eves at this pub, recommended to family friends etc. On bank holiday Monday we were joined by my elderly mother and father in law and my uncle (72 years old and recovering from major hip surgery). We had a fab night as always but on the way out my uncle went outside to ring a taxi and on the way through the lounge was set upon by a drunk local thug (35 years old approximately). We went to look for him and was confronted by this 'man' threatening my uncle, so my father in law (also in his 70,s) stood between them and tried to fight this man off. There was a bit of a scuffle and the landlady and a barmaid came over and asked US to leave (not the idiot who started it) We left promptly and waited outside for our taxi. Yes I admit some words were exchanged outside but it was us trying to explain and the injustice of it all. Me and my partner had nothing to do with it and just stood by in shock at what was happening). Whilst waiting for the taxi the jumped up barmaid followed us outside and informed us that we were barred for 'life'. The only explanation I can think of for harbouring this nasty 'man' was that the bar maid knows him. I won't lose sleep over being barred from this pub but am Very annoyed about the way we were treated, we are hard working normal people who have never ever been asked to leave a pub and have never been involved in any violence/threatening behaviour. I always loved this pub and do not like to have any bad feeling with anybody but would like to air our anger over our treatment.

Me and my family often visit this pub several times a month and it never fails to disappoint! Me and my partner visited on the 18th August and we had a really great meal there, My partner had the Mega mixed grill which he very much enjoyed and I had the Stilton Chicken and it was one of the nicest meals I’ve ever had! It’s great value for money and you get plenty of food on your plate! The staff are always so polite and helpful, Would highley recommend!

Its a pub in an easy location for the Oakwood area of Derby which we had a pint before heading into town, was a busy afternoon, with the staff being friendly with more so with what seem like the regulars but weren't as slow as out last visit. A pub for a quick pint.

Really how rubbish is this..!! I have brought my children up to the children free zone of the oak to watch the FA cup final and found out there only having the wedding on the one TV in this zone all day.. When I asked where I was to watch the final I got told to go in sports bar! With my children I asked. NO said bar staff so where do I go then to watch final.. Barstaff said another bar..!

Decided to try this pub for lunch as we had a money off voucher. When we presented the voucher ( while we were still at the bar) we were told it was too late to use it as she had rung the order through) Decided to stay and eat anyway, food was hot with not too long to wait. Pub is in need of a little tbc.

Despite a terrible experience last time I ate here I visited again due to the many good meals I have had previously . Unfortunately whilst the food was at least cooked this time it was still not cooked very well . I will not be making the mistake of visiting again .

Been coming in regular on a Wednesday night, me, the wife, another couple and my son who turned 18 in October, for several months now. However the latest visit is forgettable and will be our last.

Just visited the Oak & Acorn with the family. As a larger group 5 adults 2 kids, thought it maybe a challenge. Located table with ease and received good friendly service throughout. Menu offers a good selection of meals, which were served quickly, good portions and quality could not be faulted. Atmosphere was welcoming and staff friendly and helpful. We will definitely return.

this place is best not to go there the it is that slow getting ur food the place run out of a beer people left becuse of the wait and no beer

Went with a friend on Tuesday for a lunchtime drink.

Its a popular pub which we sometimes stop for a quick pint before moving into town, always seems busy and the staff are friendly but sometimes get too chatty with regulars that slow the service down, food looks cheap and cheerful but we only have time for a quick beer.

Called in for some food and drinks, nothing was too much trouble for Liam and his team, even a dish one of our party had ordered wasnt to her liking it was refunded without quibble. Nice beers and atmosphere, customer service incomparable!

Love this pub. Had ribs and chicken it was really nice. And they have listened and bought curly fries back....

The food is really nice if you like mix grills/sizzlers. Not much else. The decor is 1980s estate pub style....

The meal was excellent and good value for money. We had a selection from the Ultimate selection followed by a delicious desert.
