O Cantinho de Portugal in Lambeth

We had a lovely meal yesterday at Cantinho, made me feel at “home”. Delicious francesinha with my favourite drink super bock 🤗. Thank you all 🙏

Nice food and reasonable proportion. Better book if you plan to eat there as usually crowded. Tasty Portuguese food. Had takeaway of bacalhau and other dishes.

Food not tasty no marinade properly in Portuguese way , the steak to dry had nasty taste smell not from tPortugal, no garlic or lemon taste. I don’t want to go there again. I think they should improve more in food quality and have more options, on that particular day there no Bacalhau or Octopus, wish we were very disappointed. The customer service was great they pay attention of all details.

Probably the best francesinha in London! If you’ve ever been to Porto, you’ve probably heard about francesinha. I fell in love with it when I visited for the first time, so I sometimes look for Portuguese restaurants in London that could help me to “matar a saudade” (hard to translate, but I think you know what I mean). I found this one while browsing Google Maps and decided to give it a go. I booked a table because our time was short, but I believe you can still go without needing to book one. The restaurant had plenty of available tables on that Saturday lunch. Although everything on the menu sounded amazing, I was craving a francesinha. It was delicious and juicy. It was the best I’ve had in London. We also got cod balls (bolinhos de bacalhau) as a starter, it was fresh and crunchy. I want to go back to this restaurant just to try the rest of the menu. Everything looked amazing. We wanted to get desserts, but we couldn’t barely walk after that delicious francesinha.

We like visiting O Cantinho de Portugal to meet with friends and have a hearty lunch before heading out for the evening. Food is great; really hearty and tasty, just what we need. Super service. Look forward to our next visit.

Authentic Portuguese restaurant feeling, the food, people and the environment! Won’t be disappointed. Additional perk! They are also very good with large bookings which is a relief as some restaurants are picky.

Went to dinner here on Wednesday when something similar happen with brushing the floor while I was eating. when I spoke to the tall dark waitress she was extremely rude but there is a shorter staff member which was very lovely

As a client I found this very disrespectful and a bit unsanitary after going for dinner with my girlfriend while I we were eating out lovely food a tall waitress with dark hair started sweeping the floor and being hit with dust and all , Really enjoy the food but I don’t think this is something that should have been done It’s not the first time this happens and like this many people may not come as much,

What a great lunch we had today. The seabass is something out of this world. Made to perfection. My husband had the feijoada and said it was amazing too.

A fantastic restaurant, it's one of our favourites in the area of Stockwell- Brixton. Their home-made menu is delicious, of great quality and prices are very competitive . This in combination with the atmosphere and treatment received makes it a very cozy experience. Seafood rice, mixta de carne and the praws are probably our top 3.

Great service, atmosphere and food! The staff is very friendly and always happy to recommend you the best dish of the day. You have to try the prawns and the seafood rice! Definitely recommend it!

Amazing staff and delicious food!

Returned to have dinner at Cantinho de Portugal after a couple of years. Completely different atmosphere for worse. I presume the previous owner is not there anymore and this was our last visit to this restaurant. Food was ok but we were put close to 2 birthday parties and it was very loud (even considering that the rest of the restaurant area was empty). To finish this not great experience, one of the deserts ordered came with MOULD and not in good condition to be served (how many days was this desert in the fridge?). I was ashamed by taking English friends to share a bit of our amazing Portuguese gastronomy. Never again. If you want to try or have Portuguese food, try different places not far from this one,

Went there last week, as I was in the area. The guy who saw me to the table would not allow me to sit in the restaurant at the back, as he said "the owner is having a meeting there". I have never heard of such an excuse before. Instead he made me sit in the cafe area at the front, which has older decor and cafe-style chairs and tables.. I was charged £6 for bread, butter and pate. The butter was a small prepacked sachet and I found it tasteless. The two pates were also small sachets (not homemade) and I did not like the taste and could not eat them. The starter was mushrooms in wine. It tasted and looked to me as though precooked mushrooms had been put in the microwave. I found the taste of the wine overwhelming and could not eat the dish. At this point I obviously decided to not order anything else and walked out. I go to restaurants regularly and this is the first time that I have walked out of the restaurant not having eaten any of the food

This place is just exceptional ! The service, the food, the ambiance ,the value all excellent. We visited the place on a Monday evening, very neatly decorated throughout with comfy seating and dining tables. The staff are lovely, welcoming, and so friendly. They are happy to help and recommend what to choose, they are knowledgeable of the menu and give suggestions to alternatives of some dishes to personalise it to your taste. The food tasted fresh, nicely cooked and flavored it was just mouthwatering! Loved the fried calamari as a starter and mixed fried fish main but everything in general was so good. Portion and quality compared to price is very reasonable and I think its worth it. They also have a very tasty stout beer And also I love the water glasses they are just so classic. Finally, they were so kind to surprise us with a cake for my friend's birthday on the house. super cute ! Definitely recommend !

Great atmosphere and staff, but the food is overly fatty and salted, lacking flavour. It's a problem with other Portuguese places in the area. Too bad!

We enjoyed the Francesinha that comes with chips however it wasn’t our favourite in London. We also tried their fried sardines as a starter.

Best portugese restaurant of all time

Valentines day last night was amazing. Decor was simple but the ambiance was beautiful. Lights low, background music, TVs off, candle on tables, petals all over the floor; staff were so attentive, food was out of this world and the best part was at the end. We were expecting to pay so much more. Probably one of the cheapest restaurants in London ❤️ will be back on another occasion. Thank you all for making the day special.

Fantastic! From the welcome drink to the final port everything was amazing. Tuna on a stone was the highlight. Highly recommend.

Richard our waiter recommended the Esteva Doura to compliment our main course. The home made chocolate mouse was delicious especially with a couple of glasses of the «  Licor de amendos Amarga « Almond liquor Only 5 mins walk from Brixton tube station

Awful , non existent service. Dining area in need of deep cleaning/ hate to see kitchen!! If you like cigarette smoke with your meal this is the place for you!! Never again

Seems strange to describe a restaurant in central London as a great neighbourhood place but this most certainly is. Great value, super tasty food, nice staff. All within a 10min walk from the tube station. G The garlic prawn starter were particularly delicious as was the beef skewer.

Chips could have been slightly crispier as were a bit oily, shrimp dish was nice.

It seems to me that the owners abandoned the restaurant I ordered a feijoada à transmontana when I started eating plastic appeared in the food, horrible salt-free food I won't go back but not recommended terrible service

Was starving so popped in and asked for "table for one"... sorry kitchen is closed... "oh no"... OK you want soup? "Yes please" . So I got soup.. It was proper delicious... a bowl of soup and a couple of Sagres. All good

Went with a party of 4, 2 dishes were good however the steak was tough and the cod bake was under seasoned and bland. Reasonable price, friendly staff.

We found this shop after a hike from the Algar Seco. It is just an 8 mins walk. We just wanna have a normal dinner after a long day but this restaurant amazed us. The atmosphere here is really welcomed. They gave us free Melon Champagne! Then the food and desserts are really really delicious! I recommend the brownie with ice cream. Dark chocolate and vanilla are definitely a match. We were served by two very friendly waitress, they are incredible! Having dinner here makes my day in Carvoeiro! Definitely will come back if I got the chance!

Been here many, many times and it does not disappoint. Very friendly, relaxed and reasonable. You are made to feel at home and the portions are most generous and most excellent. I often go for the clams in white wine sauce and then followed by the famous Francesinha toasted sandwich, which is washed down with Superbock. Having been to Porto some fifteen times, I would say this is authentic and the best Portuguese restaurant in the area.

If you are a vegetarian, don't bother. Their substitution is sausages for everything... very depressing. We had sausages for a starter and for a main. Very disappointing.

Flavour is an explosion to your taste buds and all better for it. Love the way the menu is set out to show where area in Portugal where each dish derives. Special shout out to the staff from the manager to the waiting staff were fantastic. Loved the surprise of the pastel de nata shaped into my birthday surprise. Thank you.

I went for lunch and I was the only table the whole time but after the food you might understand why. Meet was absolutely dry, they disnt ask for the meat point (even if its grilled, in other portuguese places they ask you). The clams with white wine sauce most of thr half were empty, it was more sauce than clams and dessert was ok. Wouldn't go again

Very nice Portuguese food, amazing wines and the staff are super friendly. You can have a meal with great flavours and a cracking glass of wine for a fraction of what you would pay in most restaurants.

Absolutely fabulous experience today ! The fish of the day was delicious - same for the prawns as a starter. Clean space and fantastic service. Richard (our waiter - from Canada but fluent in Portuguese - pretty impressive !!!!!!) was super attentive and even gifted us a pastel de natal by the end! Completely changed our day - thanks for a genuine and fantastic service - we will be back and planning to hear everything about your future trip to Portugal You rock !!! They changed tables and chairs. Became very uncomfortable and small no space for plate and wine,water together. Food is far away from what use to be,now it seems like they are focusing on making money to expensive for the quality the offering. I had bacalhau a lagareiro for £24 and was rubbish too much oil the vegetables looked and tasted like were cooked on previous days…I been going to this restaurant for the past 24 years and saw to many changes but this time they failed to accommodate the customers. I don’t recommend anymore.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. The food was all very tasty and well made, with attention to detail and love. I recommend all Tugas and Tuga food lovers to come here! I am personally vegan and there are also very delicious vegan options with the same traditional flavor.

Me and my Portuguese boyfriend came here on our holiday to London. We are both vegan and we were really pleased with the attention and the love they have put on the meals. Kudos to the chef for achieving such great vegan tasty options for the traditional dishes. The love and attention to the flavour of the recipes can be felt on the "Cataplana da horta" and "Cogumelos a Bulhão de Pato". My boyfriend left the place feeling like he just had a piece of home and we cannot recommend this place enough.

AMAZING FOOD 😋 Com um som de Musica bem suave 👏Desde a Manager como o resto do Staff simpatia sem igual, sempre com um sorriso na cara dao de tudo para o cliente ficar satisfeito. Um promenor que faz toda a diferenca em um restaurante e ter a Televisao desligada. Assim as Familias e Amigos podem conviver mais a mesa. Muito obrigada por fazerem a diferenca. Ate Breve. Friendly staff. Sociable but not obtrusive. They know my order now off by heart now. Simple and humble with great Portuguese food. A favourite of mine.

The food was delicious. The restaurant was packed and it was too noisy but despite that, the service was great and we will definitely go back! We had caramel flan as dessert, and I highly recommend it!

Have been going to this restaurant for years but menu has changed and missed my favourite Portuguese dishes on my last visit!

We had a tremendous lunch here, and the food and service were excellent. My wife had a lovely vegan sausage dish with chickpeas, peppers, aubergines, and fries. I had the flaming chorizo dish and the pork and clams. Very enjoyable and I will definitely be returning.

If you want to enjoy Portuguese food at it's best, this is the place. Today I ate a "Feijoada a Transmontana" and it was just amazing!!

This used to be the best Portuguese food in London. Since covid the menu changed a lot and the food quality went downhill which is really sad. Early this year i went there and got pasteis de bacalhau which were still frozen in the core and the espetada didnt feel grilled, was like it was boiled. Went there again this weekend and carne de porco a alentejana was just blend, felt boiled instead of fried. Hope they can sort out the kitchen but im not sure im coming back

The attention to detail with the decor and colour theme was amazing. The food was fabulous, the DJ played a great mix of music and a fantastic night was had by all. Advertised as a family run business we were surprised the manager wasn’t Portuguese. When we arrived there was a luke warm welcome so we didn’t feel comfortable. The food was very good (although very limited menu) and our Brazilian waiter lifted the evening. Prices a little on the high side but portions substantial. Sadly we won’t be returning. It’s expensive going out these days and you want really good service from the front of house.

Friend and I were venturing into Brixton, and our eyes met with this cosy restaurant. We saw the prices and thought Wow! Amazing, and the names interested us. So we sat down and ordered two desserts to share; the Pudim de ovos and Bolo de bolacha. So incredible! Didn't expect the coffee undertones in the Bolo de bolacha, and the Flan cake was irresistible and soft and tender! Next time, my friend and I will enjoy the sandwiches.

Had a lovely lunch at this Portuguese restaurant near Stockwell. It was all so good - food, waiters, and the atmosphere. The waiters were friendly and very knowledgeable when it came to the menu. I got the bacalhau com natas. Satisfying and hearty baked dish with saltfish, potatoes, cream, and cheese. The waitress also gave me olive oil and vinegar to help cut through the richness. Was a perfect dish for a gloomy day in London. The restaurant itself felt like something that came straight out of Portugal. Even the coffee cups and sugar! Would definitely go again if I ever want to satisfy my Portuguese food cravings. Would highly recommend newcomers to go too.

Not a very extensive menu, but the dishes they have are traditionally Portuguese and very tasty (the ones we tried). The bacalhau à lagareiro is smaller than I had expected, but it’s still a decent portion. If you have a starter as well, it’s sufficient food. The sautéed clams were excellent! I’d visit again. The prices are medium range.

A beatifully fitted-out venue with very welcoming staff. They were helpful throughout the visit. My mushroom starter and Bacalau com natas main course were both excellent. The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere, and I would definitely recommend it.

We visited with friends for dinner. It's a very authentic place and the staff speak Portuguese too. Great food and well-sized portions. It took quite a while for the food to be prepared but that didn't affect our experience.

Excellent food. There's a lot of Portuguese dishes, from each of the regions of the country, so for sure there will be something for every taste. The main course tasted delicious, and the desserts are just as typical. It's very easy to forget that one is the UK while having a meal at this restaurant, as it really looks and feels like a Portuguese place.

Myself and two friends had a wonderful meal at this restaurant! They were very kind, accomodating and friendly. One of the party, being Portuguese, was very impressed at the authenticity of the food! Brilliant all round!!! Will definitely be back.

Dropped in to kill time while my kids were at Brixton Academy. Treated myself to a superb meal. Sardines to start we’re excellent.
