Terrible food no good at all, don't recommend for no one

We went with some friends to celebrate their birthday, dishes were very well served and the waiters were very attentive, only the place is small for the influx of people, you have to book more than 1 week in advance.

My favourite restaurant in South London

We really loved the atmosphere and great personnel working there. We sat upstairs which was fantastic, more quite and private. The food was E X C E L L E NT ! ! ! We particularly liked: 1) octopus salad 2) Porto vino vintage 3) grilled chicken 4) coffee cake (don't remember the Portuguese name) Totally recommend:)

This meal was amazing and the service was so lovely too. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be back!

After 16 years still think its one of the best Portuguese restaurants in London, but used to be better. Needs to improve the waiting time for the food to arrive to the table.

Portions are huge, wine is very affordable and food is superb. Pedro will look after you, he's amazing.

Feels like a scam. Waiters brought bread/cheese/olives to the table and charged us for them (even though we did not eat them). Feels like they were trying to get pennies out of unsuspecting customers... £5.50 for a bread basket is steep. Food was decent but plain - meat and carbs but decent sized portion for £14.50. Bathroom was run down and overall interior needed refurbishment.

The seafood porridge is delicious 🦞 and very affordable. It’s packed with seafood, making it a great value. Definitely a restaurant I’d return to😊

Sempre frequentei A Toca com amigos ao longo dos anos, e até então, era um local que apreciávamos pela boa comida e ambiente acolhedor. Infelizmente, a nossa última visita foi uma experiência muito decepcionante. Logo no início do jantar, notámos que o pão servido tinha uma aparência estranha, com uma mancha preta que parecia ser bolor. Educadamente chamámos a empregada e pedimos que nos trouxesse um novo cesto de pão. Ela não entendeu bem o que dissemos, e o responsável foi chamado. Ao tentar explicar a situação, fui tratado com extrema arrogância pelo gerente, que levantou a voz e afirmou que não serviriam pão com bolor. Ele ainda me acusou de falar alto, quando em nenhum momento levantei a voz. O tom agressivo e desrespeitoso tornou a situação muito desconfortável. Quanto ao prato principal, pedi a Carne de Porco à Alentejana, como de costume, mas fiquei desapontada com a porção reduzida e a qualidade do prato. A carne estava extremamente gordurosa, e as batatas mal preparadas, algo que não condiz com o padrão ao qual estávamos habituados. No final, o meu namorado conversou com o gerente, que pediu desculpa, mas a sinceridade parecia faltar. Depois de tantos anos como cliente fiel, saí do restaurante muito insatisfeita, tanto com o serviço quanto com a comida. Espero que a gerência leve este feedback a sério e melhore a qualidade, tanto no atendimento quanto nos pratos servidos.

Comemos regularmente en Portugal y estábamos encantados de encontrar este fabuloso lugar a la vuelta de la esquina de la casa de nuestra hija. Fuimos a una celebración de cumpleaños y no podíamos haber sido más felices. Dos de nosotros comimos el pescado especial del día besugo y dos tuvimos filete portugués, que era filete en una salsa impresionante con hermoso arroz y patatas fritas caseras. Los chicos de allí incluso sacaron un pastel de nata con una vela para la cumpleañera. La mejor comida que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo. Gracias chicos x

This will ba the second time I’ve been here first time was ***** but this time was not good. I ordered chicken with mushrooms sauce it came to the table cold but when I turned the chicken over it was raw I sent it back asked to change my choice they said no they cooked the chicken again but couldn’t eat it. Ended up with a very upset stomach

Since we have been first time, we can’t stop coming back. It has become one of my and my partner’s most favourite restaurants!! Recommend octopus salad, grilled dorada, any grilled meat dish, aroz doce and to be fair every single item on menu is a gem. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel as if you are on vacation in Portugal or Spain! 100 per cent must visit!

Seafood rice was so good!! Great portion and loads of seafood, full of umami flavour. Grilled octopus also recommended.

Traditional Portuguese cuisine with fresh ingredients, great taste, good wine list. I have been coming since 2017. Corporates from the Orient have recently discovered it and are increasingly coming in large groups.

Bitoque delicioso, just how I remember it from Portugal. My wife had squid and she said it was delicious... The kids had their own steak and also loved every bite.

Soup was not very warm, plate around was messy from soup, took nearly 20 minutes for food to arrive. Pork steak was chewy and tough,chips dry and very little rice on the plate

I recently ordered a Grilled Chicken with rice and chips from A TOCA, and it was a disaster from start to finish. The rice was tragic—absolutely no salt, no taste, no nothing. The chips seemed like they had been fried ages ago, completely stale. But the chicken was the worst part. It had no flavor whatsoever, and the texture felt and looked like it had been reheated. However, the absolute worst part was finding a hair and a piece of plastic in the chicken. This is completely unacceptable and made me physically sick. I ended up puking for five minutes after seeing it.I will be reporting this to consumer protection. This was an incredibly disappointing and disgusting experience. Avoid A TOCA at all costs!

The place seemed busy, so we went in to have dinner. They seated us right away, and offered us bread and butter to start, which I didn't realise was getting charged, but thats not much of a problem as it was quite good and we were starving. We ordered the food, and the portion sizes were huge and the steak was cooked really well, medium rare (as we wanted) and the mixed grill house special (?) the only downside is that the food is too salty, the fries and rice came out soggy and cold and as the portions were super huge, we left quite a bit of food. Takeout was also charged on our bill, for the leftover food, which wasn't clarified before we got the bill either. Overall, the food was mid, and for 2 mains, 2 coke cans and 1 large bottle of water - I don't actually think its worth almost £60. The service was fine, nothing to fault, but it would have been better if they had told us they charged for the bread and takeout.

Recently dined at toca, well im still here and I must say, it was a highly disappointing experience. I ordered the bitoque hoping for a succulent and flavorful meal. Unfortunately, what I received was far from my expectations. Firstly, the steak was overcooked. I requested a medium-rare steak, but what arrived at my table was not just well done it was congratulations. The outer layer was dry and tough, lacking the juicy tenderness that is the benchmark of a bitoque steak. Cutting into the steak felt like sawing through rubber, which made the eating experience quite unpleasant. Secondly, the seasoning was completely off. The steak was bland nothing not even a clove of garlic to enhance its flavor. It seemed like it was cooked without any attention to seasoning, leaving it tasting like a poorly cooked piece of meat. The only thing you need to get right in a bitoque is the steak. Oh and they forgot the egg I mean ridiculous The sides were equally disappointing. The rice was cold, and the chips were soggy looked limp and were undercooked 2 people sent their food back due to the poor quality. overall the experience was bad . The customer service on the other hand was good and I can't fault the staff they were extremely polite and hard working. This place is very overrated it's extremely busy which really makes it hard to send out decent food it all feels rushed. I will not be coming back to eat here.

I regularly enjoy having dinner at A Toca restaurant. The food portions are incredibly generous and the staff members are extremely helpful. I always invite friends and family to celebrate occasions there, as I did for my last birthday. I'd like also to mention that they have no Francesinha on their menu, but whenever the restaurant is not extremely packed with customers I always try asking for it, and I'm lying if I say that it's the best one you can have in London.

Mi pareja y yo tropezamos con este lugar mientras nos alojamos en Londres para una visita a la embajada estadounidense. Mi compañero es limitado en lo que puede comer, pero el personal le ayudó con sus necesidades. La comida era fantástica y el servicio era excelente. No dudaría en recomendar este acogedor restaurante con un verdadero ambiente familiar. Los precios son muy razonables y el personal es muy cálido y servicial. Sin duda volveremos aquí.

Definitely book in advance. Grilled fish was great, and soup was a bit bland. You pay £1.5 for the bread with llives and some tuna paste to go with it. Extensive Portuguese wine list - will definitely be back to try other dishes. Good value for money

I haven't eaten this well in a long time. I took a skewer (perhaps better to say skewer) of octopus and prawns. The octopus was very tender and fell apart in your mouth. Good green wine. A rice with milk and cinnamon for dessert. Impeccable kindness and service. To return as soon as possible.

Delightful Portuguese cuisine that is both simple and delicious. The entire team, from the owners to the staff, is exceptional. While a bit of modernization could enhance its current appearance, the exceptional taste of the food nearly overshadows the decor.

Very good bacalhau à lagareiro, lulas grelhadas and tofu à alentejana. Also good desserts and very professional and pleasant service. Good beer as well. Overall a truly traditional Portuguese place in the heart of London.

Long time since the last time we went to Toca, but we are treated well, like always by the owners and staff. This time, we had Tiago as a waiter. He looked after us so well. Thank you very much for your kindness. We enjoyed our dinner, and we are looking forward to seeing you all again.

Horrible service. At the counter we were served by a very rude Brazilian lady, who didn't even give us the option to try the food. It's unfortunate, because when we're abroad meeting people from our culture we should be more friendly and less arrogant.

My partner and I went last night with a booking. He arrived before me, and was standing at the entrance when I arrived. There were two waiters leaning/chatting on the bar and a bartender, all of whom had seen him and not acknowledged him at all for over 5 minutes hed been there. When I arrived, they came and (quite rudely) said do we want to eat. I dont know whether they ignored him because of his appearance (it felt like this) but we left and went somewhere else. Massive shame as we were really looking forward to this meal. If possible id like to speak to a manager as this conduct is unacceptable, particularly as it felt discriminatory.

A solid experience in Little Portugal, very generous portions and kind smiles all around, price also very good considering what you eat, could not ask for more.

Sadly our experience here recently wasn't great. The sliced baguette they gave us as a entry was hard and the olives were tasteless with a seed inside, There was a small mosquito constantly flying around our food, my childs meal contained about 10 chips stuck together, the bacalhau com natas was very cheesy and saucy, the caldo verde needed some salt, the staff are friendly thats about all i can praise, i wont be back there anytime soon

Restaurant was very busy, lots of people in and out after their meal, probably best codfish and seafood specialties in London. Very Reasonably priced and honest quality portions. Passing by that place for the last 4 years and it’s always busy, no matter of the day.Decided to try it last night (Saturday) and it didn’t disappoint!!!Extremely friendly and accommodating staff, fantastic food and reasonable prices !!! Very generous portions! Bread, butter , olives, cheese before you get to order! Delish starters and even better mains ! Didn’t have room for pudding but will be defo back to try more dishes and deserts ! Highly recommend !!!!!

Excellent old school Portuguese restaurant. It can get pretty cramped and loud, but I'll take that since the food is so good.
