We visited Mamuśka for the second time, the first time we were not satisfied, the service was terrible, we were served only after about 20 minutes and it took the same amount of time to serve us drinks and the starter - lard. The portion consisted of a quarter of a pickled cucumber and a bit of lard, which you had to scrape from the bottom of a small bowl! While ordering drinks and starters, the waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We wanted to have time to drink and think. We sat there for maybe 35/40 minutes and no one came to us, so we left. Despite this, we wanted to visit you again and give you a chance (we work in the catering industry ourselves and we know how it can be sometimes). 2/3 months ago, my parents and siblings went to you and were happy, and I really wanted good Polish food. And this cannot be said that the food you serve is tasteless, it is good, but going to a restaurant means not only good food but also the atmosphere and the way the customer is treated by the staff. In my opinion, if you order only drinks in your restaurant (worth £15 for two, which is a great price for London, but filled 80% with ice, you can't hold the glass because it's pouring out, and the drink tastes like water with alcohol) and starters, no one from the staff will be interested in you. We saw how customers ordering "more" received a lot of attention from the waitresses, they were asked if they liked it, if they wanted something to drink, if they wanted dessert - we were left out. Unfortunately, customer service and hospitality are not competitions in which the one who spends more will get a gold medal, each customer should be treated with respect and attention. It's a pity, because the lard is really 10/10.

The ambience of this place always does my head in but I keep coming back to give it a try. Food is okay, they unfortunately don’t put Polish mayo on the tables :/ (they have Polish mustard tho!). £3.00 for a glass of kompot is outrageous. Quality of service is a lottery. On the bright side: the gherkins are always great.

**Review for Mamuska Polish Restaurant** I recently visited Mamuska for the second time, hoping to have a better experience than my first. Unfortunately, I was left feeling a bit disappointed again. Starting with the food, I ordered the potato cakes, which were surprisingly tasteless. I expected a burst of flavor, especially given how beloved this dish is in Polish cuisine, but they fell flat. The only redeeming part of the meal was the salad, which was quite tasty and fresh. However, it wasn’t enough to save the overall dining experience. Another downside was the portion sizes. For the price tag, I expected a more generous serving, but what I received was rather small. It felt like I was paying a premium for a meal that didn't quite satisfy my hunger. On a positive note, the wait staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Their warm service was a highlight of my visit, and it’s clear they genuinely care about their customers. Overall, while the friendly atmosphere and tasty salad were nice, the lackluster potato cakes and underwhelming portion sizes left me uncertain about returning. I appreciate the charm of Mamuska, but I might consider exploring other options for my next meal.

Very disappointed with the food. Potato pancakes (placki ziemniaczane) were not prepared fresh (they had grey unpleasant colour) and were uncooked. I returned them back and left. Unfortunately, that was my second time when I left disappointed and hungry. They don’t serve the real good Polish food. Don’t be fooled. Try to avoid.

2024 edit: 4 years after my first review, I ended up in Mamuśka by a chance. I must say a lot must have changed in thoss 4 years as the "polishness" of the food went really up! The summer bigos was amazing. Kotlet was just like one your typical auntie Grażynka makes. Beer selecrion is also much wider. I may pop in more often! 2020: We went to Mamuska quite excited for traditional polish food we know from our homes. Sadly our experience wasn't good - first we were served by a moody, uninterested in anything waitress. Service was quick, prices are reasonable, but everything we ordered was unfresh and lacked seasoning. Far from homemade food.

Overall a lovely place to eat, but watch out for hidden costs that will appear on your bill. The food was great especially the pierogi, highly recommend. The pork gulasch was nice. Recommend getting the apple slice for dessert. Unfortunately there were a couple of ‘hidden costs’. Worst one was being charged extra £2.50 for cheese on top of the main. Our server did not state this would cost extra after asking if we wanted cheese, and this was not an ‘extra’ stated with a price anywhere on the menu either. It seemed like this was a randomly added charge in hope that we wouldn’t notice. This was kindly taken off our bill by one of the very friendly servers. Another ‘hidden’ cost was an extra £1.50 to fry the pierogi, never seen a restaurant charge extra to cook something a different way. This is stated on the menu but is very easy to miss (but I commend the strategic price obfuscation tbh!). One suggestion I have is that since the kompot is kinda expensive for what it is, it would nice if it came with fruit.

"A big misunderstanding. Russian dumplings exist under this name only in Poland. The name of the dish is a reference to the Russian lands of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - Kievan Rus and White Ruthenia, i.e. those that today belong to Belarus and Ukraine. Rus is not the same as Russia, and Russian dumplings are not Russian dumplings." THESE ARE OUR POLISH PIEROGI!!!! NO Russian OR Ukrainian!!! POLISH PIEROGI! DO NOT OFFEND OUR CULTURE AND HISTORY!!

Food was in general good, however it was a big mistake in serving the food. We've requested 3 chicken services and one pork and I got chicken instead, and when I complained two time, the two waitresses insisted that it was pork, I was about to returned the dish, and my husband told me let the children eat the incorrect delivery. Neverthess, they must be careful about those issues and the waitresses should go back to the chef and ask for a confirmation. It could be good dinner but it was overshadow for this issue.

Hello, I have been to this restaurant 6 times, the first 4 visits I rated ns 5stars, the food was good, the service was polite. I rated it low this time because changes were made to the service in the room. Orders can be placed via the app. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, when I go to a restaurant I think that the staff could approach me and take an interest in a few customers in the room and ask if they could help me with something. There has been a big change in the quality of the website. I am not a Troll as I have been called. The fish rots from the head. Thank you.

This was my second time dining at the restaurant, after many years. This time I was reminded why it took me so many years to return… the service is very slow, albeit, very nice. The atmosphere is okish (I personally cannot hear my own thoughts in places with music turned up so loud, not to mention having a conversation with your companions). Now to the food… the salad bar- absolutely lovely. Fresh, tasty with a really nice bread on a side, big plus. We had the soup of the day (mushroom) which was also quite pleasant. Sadly, none of our mains were great and one absolutely inedible. Schabowy was very much mediocre, burnt on sides and not crispy in the middle with visible oil soaking coating and old mash potato. Pierogi, gosh.. they were just awful, the dough (!) was sour and the filling of (Ukrainian) had nothing but potato, no cheese to be found. Whatever you called an onion on top of the pierogies is a mistake- absolutely disgusting 🤮 I initially thought it was bigos on top… never have I ever tasted such a thing.. now to the absolute worst dish.. fried potato fritters (placki ziemniaczane)- I have NO IDEA what I was served but that was not placki… there were goey, uncooked, somewhat grainy inside and absolutely black burnt on the outside- tasted.. VILE. If you do have polish chefs as you claim I would really check whether they are trained in culinary practice or whether they are truly polish as most of the food is nowhere near polish… or food for that matter. Really, really disappointed and sadden to leave such a negative review.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received during my recent visit to your establishment. On 19/07/2024, I had a disappointing experience due to the behavior of the manager. We were served by a young waitress who, as you can see, was very tired after a hard day at work. When it was time to pay, the owner came with a bank terminal and asked us what we had eaten? which seemed very strange because the waitress who served us before put everything on our tab. After a short while, we told the owner that we had a student discount and then he said that we looked too old to be students, which was very repulsive. I have nothing against the waitress, all the hard work fell on her to serve the bar and additionally the customers at the tables. I don't know if I will go back there again because the food was so-so, 5 dumplings cost £9 without any discount which is very expensive. Little mash potatoes with schnitzel £16.99 and, best of all, a salad buffet where all the containers were almost empty and I had to scrape the bottom to catch anything. It's clear that the management at this restaurant don't care about providing good service or making customers happy. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place and take their business elsewhere. If you have had or will have similar feelings, please leave a thumbs up so that the owner will finally change his approach to customers. Supposedly a Polish restaurant, but it actually has little to do with it. As a customer, I expect to be treated with respect and to receive good service when dining at any restaurant. I believe that the behavior of you as the owner reflects poorly on your establishment. I hope that you will take this feedback seriously and take steps to improve the customer experience at your restaurant. I believe that addressing these issues will benefit both your business and your customers. Sincerely, Eternal student

I recently visited Mamuśka and had an extremely unpleasant experience. When it was time to pay, the owner refused to bring us the bill and insisted on charging us without even acknowledging what we had ordered. He clearly had no idea what we had consumed. When I mentioned our student discount, he was visibly stunned and rudely remarked that my friend and I were the oldest students he had seen in a long time. The place is also highly understaffed, with the owner treating his employees terribly. One of the servers was on the verge of tears due to his relentless shouting and demeaning behavior. To make matters worse, the food was highly overpriced and shouldn't even be called Polish. It was very average in taste and poorly presented on the plate. The owner's conduct was appalling. He should be ashamed of himself for treating both his customers and employees so poorly. I strongly advise avoiding this restaurant until significant improvements are made. Response to your reply: Your response to my review is a clear attempt to defend subpar service and overpricing, instead of taking accountability and improving your establishment. It's laughable that you'd spend so much time writing a lengthy reply rather than fixing your glaring issues. When we questioned the bill, it was out of necessity, not because we enjoyed being treated rudely. You could have handled it with basic respect and professionalism, which was sorely lacking. As for the high prices, the justification you provided is nonsense. Competing in Southbank doesn't give you a free pass to serve overpriced, mediocre food. Customers expect value for their money, which you utterly failed to provide. Blaming staff shortages is a pathetic excuse. Proper management means ensuring your team can deliver adequate service regardless of challenges. Clearly, this is beyond your current capabilities. Your "mature students" joke was condescending and unprofessional. It’s not about being unable to take a joke; it’s about your blatant lack of respect. And don't twist our words – we suggested you ask your colleague what we had, not that she needed to come to us. That was your call, showing how poorly you handle customer communication. In summary, instead of acting like a sexist old prick trying to shine a favorable light on yourself, maybe put that energy into running a competent business. I hope this feedback pushes you towards making real improvements.

As a polish person who loves traditional polish food and misses it dearly I was really excited to try this place. Unfortunately the food feel short of our expectations. When we arrived we realised the menu on the website was different from what they actually served and the dishes we came in for were not being served. We ordered pierogi and potato pancakes. You can get your pierogi fried for extra £ 1.50 so we asked for that. Pierogi came boiled, not fried - fine, we didn't want to make a fuss. I genuinely had better pierogi from a store bought package. The pancakes came completely burned and they did not taste good. Additionally, they overcharged us - once we asked the waiter what are all the extra charges on the bill they said it was for frying the pierogi… but it was much more than the £1.50 for that service specified on the menu.. So in summary the prices on the menu for example for pierogi was £15.50 but we were charged £18.50 and similarly for the pancakes. We ended up paying £50 for a plate of pierogi and plate of potato pancakes + can of coke each.

You have to take the salads yourself, it's not a problem, but the lady forgot to inform us about it. I didn't have time to eat the soup when the lady came with the second course. Russian (Ukrainian) dumplings, to put it mildly, very tasteless. Rubber, chewy dough and terrible stuffing. The best of all were the raw ingredients. The restaurant has potential, but clearly there is no person to take over. Unfortunately, I don't recommend it at the moment, which is a pity because Polish dishes are delicious...

So I checked what and how and it turned out that two dishes were included, and the pankankes, of which there are 3 in the set, each one are counted separately 😀 (15f each). The matter could not be clarified because the waitress suddenly forgot how to speak Polish and then said that the order was correct in the kitchen 🤷😄. Here for the football, currently half time. 1-1. Electric when the first goal went in, silent after the second. If you're wanting to watch the Poland euro games, this is the spot. As an agnostic football fan, I've walked in, no table booked, solo, and there's been no fuss. The staff have made me and other non-planners feel comfortable and welcome. They're doing a busy shift for lunch and so we're up on the mezzanine with a prime view of two screens/projectors. Beers are flowing. Tyskie (draft) and Lech (bottle), got a birds eye view of the pickle station too. People moving like those seaside machines laying up pickles, I saw one woman fill up a container and stuff it in her handbag. Anyway, I was apprehensive because of some of the reviews, but genuinely I don't know what's going on. Some of the nicest, politest people I've ordered from despite what is very clearly an insanely busy service. Lovely spot. Would definitely recommend and would 100% come again.

No Rosoł on Sunday, such traditional Polish Soup and it wasn't served on Sunday.... Also, meals are tailored in english way, therefore I wouldn't call it traditional Polish food. I ordered Mojito as advised it would be originally made - there was no sugar in it... really bad taste.

Went on a Thursday night, it was fairly busy but they didn’t have enough waiter, and the one in the room seemed exhausted. You got to hire more staff to make your team life better and offer a pleasant service experience. Food wasn’t mind blowing for the price - we tried the ox cheek & Gulash

With a Polish heritage and visiting London for the first time, I stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the city. What a delight. The food reminded me of home cooking and was so good it ended up being one of the best meals on my 17-day vacation. Will definitely eat here again when I return to London.

You walk into a great Polish atmosphere and are greeted by a very friendly staff. You can see the food being prepared as you walk towards the dining area. Our server, Marzena was very helpful and did a great job. My wife ordered the Plackie Ziemniaczane topped with Vegan Stew and loved it. The serving was very tasty and generous. I ordered the Schabowy Tower and enjoyed every bite. The mashed potatoes were freshly made and my cutlet was outstanding. We also ordered a sampling of the five dumplings which were outstanding. It was a wonderful way to start our European vacation. We enjoyed our first meal there so much, that we went back with some friends who live in London. Once again the food and service was top notch. We were able to enjoy great conversation to go along with great food and drink. The staff did not rush us as enjoyed our quality time together.

Polish bar we thought it was ok because some time ago the people who invited us were there and as they said it was completely different in terms of food and now my wife and I were there for the first and last time - dumplings from Lidl, potato pancakes also probably from Lidl and about borscht and croquette I won't comment, the only plus is that the guy from the staff is a funny guy haaaaa noni vodka is ok because my brother and I each made 50 ml and the atmosphere is cool, the menu is nicely designed but they need to be specific about the kitchen 👊🇵🇱

We went to Mamuśka today for lunch. The place has a very cool atmosphere and Polish music playing at all times. We ordered a few dishes from lunch menu to try a bit of everything and all of it was nice, and tasted like it would back in Poland. Bigos (Hunters stew) was especially tasty, served with bread, goulash was also amazing. Pierogi, as pierogi, i'm never impressed with them in general, but they kept the usual standard (we took the mixed option). The service was ok, the pad that the waiter used was painfully slow (of course not his fault but I'm Polish and I like to complain), and they do add 12.5% of service charge by default to the receipt which I think is a bit excessive and also should be left to the customer's decision if tip or not. After all a good experience. I'm leaving this review cause I was hesitant to go there reading other reviews and I'd say it was a rather good experience
