We went for Mother's Day. Great food, great drinks, and very helpful staff. Our whole party was super happy with everything.

Came here for Mothers Day with my daughters. Food was delicious and service was brilliant. A busy restaurant with good atmosphere, will definitely return.

Fustrating experience. We went for afternoon tea for 2, we were the only ones in there yet they took forever to serve us & didn’t offer us any top ups on the tea. Then all the staff disappeared after giving us the food…..we had to wait over 30 minutes since finishing the meal to request the bill where we had to walk OUT of the restaurant into the hotel reception & ask them to find the restaurant staff…The food was nice except the quiche was all burnt to crisp which is unbelievable they thought that was okay to serve. Also had difficulty booking in and then when we turned up they said we’re not booked on the system (we had also paid a deposit btw, so this was unacceptable). This was our second time there, and the first time we had a decent experience + the food was way nicer too.

Awful service. Only us in for bottomless brunch the restaurant was empty. 1 server who took forever to do anything. Although have to say he was polite. Food was ok just a basic toastie. Wasn't worth £35 at all. Would of came to about £25 if bought separate. The lack of service was frustrating and the fact when we had to ask for a drink was told a big party arrived and that why we were left was a lie! Just wouldn't recommend. Shame as it used to be lovely

We had a table booked for Wednesday night at 5pm this was booked over a week in advance and I had an email confirming my booking. When we arrived we were refused service by a very rude waitress who said they had cancelled our booking and they had been trying to get hold of me. I would understand if this is correct but it was a complete lie! I asked please show me which number they have been trying to get hold of (they couldn’t) as they hadn’t tried at all. Both waitress’s were incredibly rude and what’s worse I could still see my booking in the system! None of the tables were taken and they said they weren’t opening the kitchen until 6pm, in my opinion they shouldn’t let you book at 5pm then. I would not recommend on this service alone, especially as we had to then find a restaurant last minute.

Fantastic service, food and atmosphere. We came here after Slug and Lettuce had next to no food available on the menu. I’ve had great experiences in the past and decided to take the family here. We were welcomed and seated by Michael (I hope that’s the correct spelling!) who was our host for the night and he was brilliant. We had a great chat and he really made our night special, please pass this on to him! Our starters were very tasty and nicely plated. The mains were delicious, my steak was extremely tasty and everyone else enjoyed their mains. Overall, great prices for high quality food, and we will be coming again.

Visited with a group of friends for pre booked afternoon tea. Venue is beautiful. Really stunning building and decor very tasteful. Unfortunately this is the only positive other than great company. The quality of food was poor. Afternoon tea consisted of coffee from self service machine, half a sausage roll, a cheese whirl/pastry, pulled pork in mini brioche, half a mini burnt quiche. Dessert was mini stale donuts, mini macaron, profiteroles and a scone. The scone came with cream but no jam. When we asked for jam we were told they didn’t have any and were provided with ramekins of strawberry purée (assumed for cocktails as was retrieved from behind the bar). How you can serve afternoon tea with scones and no jam is embarrassing, it would take a staff member 5 minutes to go to a shop to get some. Had to ask for plates to eat dessert off, cutlery and napkins. Tables overflowing with cups and glasses waiting to be cleared. I would absolutely not return.

Atrocious…. no one else in the place, quickly became apparent why!! Couldn’t find anyone to check in with when we arrived.Waitress didn’t know the menus, said that there was no Sunday lunch on a Sunday even though on website, said as I wasn’t having 2 courses she would have to charge me for an alternate meal on he other menu ( more expensive)as the till only allowed 2 courses to be charged. Food came after we were about to walk out after 50 minutes waiting. It was inedible and no vegetables ( on a Sunday Roast!!!)waitress stated the chef had trouble with the gas oven and went to speak to manager. The manager couldn’t even be bothered coming out to speak to us. We refused to pay for the food which they agreed and didn’t charge us for the drinks. The place itself is lovely and clean it’s a shame that the empty place demonstrates that it now has a poor reputation for food and service

I could give no stars I would. Absolutely abysmal. Place was empty, music louder than Glastonbury. My chicken wings had just come out the crem with my nannas ashes! Chicken supreme had chicken but certainly no Diana Ross! Effin bugs bunny would not eat the carrots they served and the mash was made by a monster!! £73 quid of my saved up pocket money for that rubbish. Avoid at all costs. Seriously, waste of money and the building is amazing could be so much more. I tipped the waitress, told her to put her notice in!!

My friend booked here for afternoon tea for 4 people and received confirmation. Upon arriving at 1 p.m on a Saturday afternoon the place was empty which was very surprising given that other nearby venues were crowded, they also didn't seem aware that we had booked for afternoon tea either. Alarms bells started to ring when the waitress asked for our drinks order my friend asked what type of teas there were, to which the reply was PG Tips and then she advised that she would see what the chef could put together. It got worse from there when the afternoon tea selection came out. Cheese and onion and some unidentifiable meat sandwiches, slices of quiche and a small selection of macarons,tiny doughnuts, scones and profiteroles minus the chocolate. It looked very unappealing so we decided that we didn't want to contemplate eating this and there was no way we were going to pay for this either. We decided to leave after speaking to the staff who in all honesty were very apologetic and said that we didn't have to pay for our teas and coffees even though we offered to pay for them. They even said we could still stay and eat what they'd brought out and we wouldn't have to pay but we politely refused. Please be very aware that the menu advertised on the website is NOT what we were served. How this place is still in business is beyond me.....just don't even bother going here.

Doors were shut when we arrived for our 3:30 pm post graduation meal. This was extremely embarrassing and disappointing. Is it still in business ? !!

Nice ambiance to grab drinks, good selection of cocktails and music in background. Food was nothing spectacular but defo a great spot if you’re looking for drinks.

I do like this place. Huge ceiling. Great leather bound booths to cosy into with friends. Service was a tad slow TBH. Staff randomly standing around a bit. But b nice craft beer available. Friends had light bites which looked good - including sliced cauliflower! I went for the standard burger - one patty not two. V tasty meal. Good fries as well ! A bit pricier than you might expect. But lovely atmosphere and bar.

We turned up for a bottomless gin brunch which we had previously been to a few years ago and enjoyed. Online it was a large menu with plenty of choice which stated it also included a buffet of cold foods and live entertainment. When arriving we arrived to an empty restaurant and silence. One member of staff sat around, no live entertainment, no buffet and a completely different menu. The menu had about 4 items on one of which they said was unavailable. When we asked were all of the other options were like online they said they are “in the process of re doing the menu”. Complete false adversing we should of been told this upon booking. We left and went elsewhere - wouldn’t reccomended at all would of completely ruined our day out in Liverpool if we were not familiar with other restaurants around.

Hello, Many thanks for your lovely hospitality, you have made our five days stay in Liverpool better. We'd like to say thanks to all the staff in the restaurant, they are very friendly and welcoming. The service and the food were very good, with a variety of dishes and desserts. The location is excellent near the prettiest tourist areas of Liverpool. Along with ALOFT Hotel, this restaurant was part of our joy during our first visit to this pretty city. Regards, Arwa X

Not worth a review …. Menu basic we were told under transition but nothing to say this on website …shocking menu and food … this is also the restaurant that’s does breakfast for the hotel …. Food cold … wouldn’t rate this any stars to be honest. Cocktail bar …. you really are having a laugh … no staff and the staff they do have are inexperienced not that’s their fault. We asked for our table to be cleaned for my husband to be passed a cloth … to clean ourselves which he did. We also had starters on arrival due to lack of food on menus … we had bbq chicken and finger food ..we asked for wet wipes to get given wet cloth to wash the bar area with … needless to say myself and my husband went to the toilets to clean hands ….

I booked NYL for a surprise 30th birthday for my sister along with 14 of our friends and family. We all had afternoon tea and a cocktail. I was told the afternoon tea had changed from last year and was no longer American themed it was just sandwiches but the cocktail list remained the same and we could choose any cocktail off the menu on the day. Over the phone before arrival the staff were very helpful and accommodating to all of our needs. When we arrived we was asked did we want to order our cocktails to find that we actually only had a choice of 3 cocktails, this was very disappointing. The afternoon tea was served and the sandwiches could only be described as appalling. The bread was stale, the fillings were disgusting (cheese & pickle sandwiches were just a lot of pickle with a tiny bit of cheese!!!) and the scones were rock hard. How a QUALIFIED chef could produced and send out food like that I will never know. We complained to then be told fresh sandwiches would be on their way. 40minutes later sandwiches started to arrive 2 at a time, between 14 guests!! The manager was very understanding of our complaint as he could see for himself that the whole thing was a shambles and we got 2 bottles of Prosecco for the table and a round of cocktails complementary. We was grateful of these drinks as without these the whole birthday occasion would have been ruined even more than it already was. I ended up leaving the restaurant and refused to pay my bill. I will not be returning and I will not be recommending NYL to anyone.

Popped in for the happy hour 2-4-1 cocktails 23/06/21, waited ages as only one staff member, then charged twice when it should have been happy hour, emailed and no response, will not bother going again or recommending when so many much better and nicer bars available

Booked a table online only to get there to be told they don’t have the menu advertised it’s only pizza and salad...disappointing considering they text earlier in the day to confirm booking could of rang and let us know the menu had changed pizza wasn’t...

I love it here! I’ve been here so many times with different people mainly for the incredible cocktails but also afternoon tea! I’ve never been disappointed! French martini and amaretto sour are my favourite cocktails here. Staff are always so friendly! Would highly recommend.

Me and my sister went to Liverpool for the weekend and called in here for a meal. The waitress Maisie was lovely and very attentive. The food was amazing would certainly go there again

Out for our friends birthday meal and a catch up! (Despite the coronavirus threat) We were served perfectly by Maisie who attended to all our needs and left us alone the right amount to enjoy our evening!

Popped in the other day for a absolutely delicious fish and chips. Went in for the first time ever and what great service we were given and the food, wow. DJ & sax were brilliant . Would definately return again!

Went here to celebrate 2 x 60th birthdays. Looked beautiful inside but empty. Soon realised why. Afternoon tea was appalling and so overpriced. One of our party was gluten free and served dry bread with the tiniest amount of filling possible. Ours was not much...

Had a Groupon for 2 course meal, the staff were really friendly and attentive, opted for the prawn and chorizo skewers for starter and they were very tasty, the main we had the duck and that was maybe a little overcooked but everything was tasty,...

I went for a couple of drinks for my birthday, I was having a lovely night until I acknowledged the way the restaurant manager spoke to her staff. She was rude and abrupt towards the workers and it actually made me and my friends feel uncomfortable. Work should be an environment employees enjoy so that there enjoyment can be reflected on the guests. Absolutely appalling.

Me and my friend popped in for a quick, light lunch and, although the restaurant itself was closed, we were able to choose from the bar food menu which had a wide selection nonetheless. The food and cocktails were excellent. Our server Charlotte and the manager, David, were both friendly upon arrival, and very attentive throughout our visit to check if everything was ok. We thoroughly enjoyed our short visit and will definitely be back again.

Service was really good. A mistake was made to our order but this was changed quickly and had complimentary drinks for the inconvenience. Food was also really nice!

We went for a meal here tonight. Start was lovely. Main we both had fish and chips. The batter was slimy and the chips were warned up and like rubber.

Had a wonderful meal here the meal was great and the saxophone player was great but the highlight was the service by . Maisie was first class so friendly and attentive certainly made you want to come back.

I came to NYL as a gift for my birthday and i was not disappointed! The food was like a home comfort and the cocktails (made by Chloe) were unreal. Definitely take advantage of the happy hour, 5pm to 6pm. I will definitely be back again.

This restaurant/ bar has a lovely atmosphere and the food is very good. The food is fresh, tasty, appealing and filling. The staff are very helpful and the restaurant has a lovely vibe. The night we were there there was also live entertainment which added to our dining experience.

Really enjoyed my meal last night. A wonderful dining room in this restaurant. A lift to help disabled people into the reception. Really present and helpful staff throughout the evening. The choice of food was good. I had the prawn starter and the haddock and chips for my main, both excellent. I would defiantly recommend this restaurant.

Had a great time last night and loved the gin cocktails that we're recommended by Amy who had a vast amount of knowledge of all the different cocktails, she was really helpful in helping us decide and made our night with how friendly she was. Went on 27 Dec, which may go some way towards explaining why they’d 2 out of 4 beers missing, no mozzarella to make pizzas with. Daughter is vegetarian so ended up with a soup and dessert. What we had was nice enough, but service was poor and even when we piled drinks glasses and plates at the end of the table no one took them away. Staff just stood around, restaurant three quarters empty so not as if they were too busy. Also first round of drinks included a large Diet Coke and a large apple juice which were mostly ice. So asked for no ice second round and these came in smaller glasses even though same size asked for and charged. Won’t be back.

After coming here again...i found myself yet again highly satisfied! Cant recommend this place enough. Staff are so friendly

I recently went to NYL with a friend after getting a groupon deal for a 2 course meal with prosecco. I found the service and the ease of using the groupon deal to be excellent. Booking was easy and when we arrived we were shown to our table straight away. We had the fish and chips and the tikka masala for mains followed by sticky toffee pudding for my friend and cinnamon ice cream for myself. All the food for hot, plentiful and tasty and to top off our night we had a cocktail, "lady liberty". It was bright blue and came with candy floss on the top took me right back to my childhood. We would definitely go back again.

Here last night for our team Christmas party, service and atmosphere where great but the food, excellent! Plenty of choice and everyone really enjoyed it. Would 100% recommend :) thank you

Visited with my boyfriend before the river of light festival to enjoy some food in the restaurant. Overall the food was average at best, wasn’t the hottest and we waited quite a while. We spoke with the manager who apologised to us and offered us a comp round of drinks as an apology ( the cocktails were delicious by the way) we didn’t want any replacement food as we were already in a rush to get the to the fireworks. Slightly off putting when you can hear other tables around you complaining over the same issues. However the 5* is for the staff, they were polite and handled everything exceptionally, we actually felt really sorry for the them as you could tell the issues were not there fault. Our waitress I think her name was Rosie, was lovely and went out of her way for us. The manager we spoke to Claire was also great and very understanding about the situation. Unsure what happened as we have dined/drank here before and have always enjoyed the food, but unfortunately we were really let down on this occasion.

Restaurant is located in a mammoth hall, high ceiling, ornate decoration. Nonetheless it feels cosy and is comfortable. The selection is not enormous, but the quality of food excellent. Watch out for special deals available some nights. Our waitress Maisie was particularly friendly cared for our every need. Price is moderate and overall good value for money.

La conversación hubiera sido difícil. ¡Diría que el restaurante solo es adecuado para personas más jóvenes! La hora del almuerzo probablemente estaría bien.

Un grupo de nosotros disfrutamos de 2 - 4 - 1 cócteles 5 - 6 pm el sábado por la noche. Gran ambiente y servicio. Me trasladé al restaurante para comer y Maisie siguió cuidando de mí, muy útil. La comida era buena, aunque la música inesperada (dj y saxofonista) era muy ruidosa, lo que dificultaba la conversación. ¿Es este el entretenimiento normal del sábado por la noche? Era un gran ambiente, pero idealmente no hubiera sido tan ruidoso. Pero en general una noche fabulosa

Amazing service all staff very helpful, pleasant and attentive! The gin brunch was amazing and I will be sure to return. My friend and I would rate this 6* if this was a possibility.

Wow wow what an amazing and different place to have Afternoon tea. Just perfect. Everything was so tasty and loads per person. And as the bride I got given to free drinks as I don’t drink much wine so they made me a fab fruit cocktail, very tasty....

Me, my husband and my daughter visited this restaurant last Friday night for the a la carte menu around 8pm and had a lovely experience. We were so impressed by one of the staff members Named rose she made us feel very welcome and couldn’t do enough for our table! The music was also very good and the atmosphere was brilliant. We will we sure go recommend this restaurant to our friends and family.

Booked for Christmas night out so thought I’d try out beforehand with the daughter. Early start as cocktail hour is 5pm-6pm in the bar area. Excellent service, great cocktails, lovely staff and really nice interior. Decided to eat to soak up 8 cocktails (4 each!) and had the salad, chicken wings and 2 burgers. Absolutely delicious - couldn’t fault. Really looking forward to returning in December (or before if my liver can take it!). Fab place!

Stopped in for a quick Sunday dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Efficient and pleasant service. Beautiful building with original ceiling. Had the fish and chips which was excellent. Will be back again

Meh....not terrible, but not great...just ok Chicken wings (needed seasoning very bland) Brisket Meatballs were excellent (best bit of the meal) Steak and Chips again not doing backflips. Fish and chip were average.

I visited on Wednesday with a large group of my friends, we sat in the spacious bar area, it was really lively and the atmosphere was great, especially for a Wednesday night! We were served cocktails by Amy who was really smiley and helped us choose which cocktail to have by recommending the pink prin and sergeant pepper, both of which were amazing and like nothing I’ve ever tasted before! We will definitely be back for drinks! 100% would recommend. Only way it could be improved is perhaps better music as the music playing at the time of our visit was quite standard and boring and not very reflective of the bar and atmosphere, apart from that I couldn’t fault it!

Really nice place and reasonable prices. I had to wait a while for my order but the service from Jai more than made up for it.

A very clean spacious restaurant and bar, with the choice of booths and tables, however the best place to be is at the bar on the stools where the management of Kelsey, Michael and Sam will make you feel at home along with the excellent top class service of the bar staff (forget his name but he is the skinny ginger one - think it was David) who can pour a pint to perfection, make a cocktail providing a show and can give excellent company after a long days work.

Visited with a group of mates last saturday, really busy and great atmosphere! DJ and saxophone player made the vibe even better. Was served by Alice who was very attentive and recommended the duck and the pink prin, both of which were excellent! Will definitely be coming again.

Came in today with family to try the new menu and it was fantastic! Had the duck and was blown away, sisters had the risotto and were very impressed. Our waitress Maisie made sure we were never waiting on drinks and nothing was too much bother!!! Thank you to Maisie for making our stay enjoyable. Cocktails from David and Charlotte were incredible

Visited prior to going to the theatre, Fish and chips, pork belly and duck, all delectable, our server was fantasic wish I could remember her name. we will be back next time we visit the theatre.

Turned up at NYL in great spirts ready for a night out with some friends, from the get go we we’re treated terribly by a manager called Sam. We turned up for 2-4-1 drinks which finishes at 6pm and where told we were not aloud as it was 4 minutes to six, we could see how this would be a problem however we’ve been to NYL before and have been given 2-4-1 by the same person who refused us this time. Think this is very petty and is disgusting really ruined our vibe for the night.

Had such a fantastic time when we visited on Saturday for my sisters hen. There were 18 of us and the staff were so accommodating and friendly. A few of us did the bottomless gin brunch and the rest ordered from the small plates menu. We were not disappointed, food was delicious! Would highly recommend. I came here with my mum on Thursday for the first time. The staff were absolutely amazing - thank you Sam, Kelsey and our waitress (sorry didn’t catch her name) plus the two guys working on the bar. We went for the small plates which were absolutely delicious and couldn’t resist the dessert and cocktail menu. Thank you all for making it such a lovely night. The building and design is beautiful! I have recommended it to everyone and would definitely be coming back here soon.

Had wanted to try here for a while... Intended to go for a meal.. However, the menu has recently been changed to small plates, tapas style.. The restaurant itself is beautiful, the staff are very polite and efficient.Unfortunatly, however, I can't recommend the small plates... When they arrived we were shocked how small the portions were, even for tapas...Had to send one dish back as it was luke warm.. Prawn and chorizo skewers were £6.50!,we got just four prawns.Total bill for six small plates and two drinks was almost £40, and we had to go and get something to eat on the way home as we were so hungry....Sorry, I can't recommend this,at least not with this menu.

I, along with two friends, visited the hotel early Saturday evening to eat and watch the Champions League Cup Final in the NYL Bar, as the Hotel had provided a large screen and TV’s to watch the game. We ordered our food before the game, which arrived very promptly considering the number of people in the Bar. We continued to order our drinks whilst the match was on and, despite there being a considerable number of people in the Bar and a continuous flow of customers entering the Bar throughout the night making it extremely busy, the Staff never failed to provide an excellent and friendly service. A special mention needs to be made about Samantha Silva, who took our original booking and made sure all of our requirements were met. She portrayed a very professional, confident manner and looked in total control of the organising and smooth running of the Restaurant and Bar, which contributed to a wonderful first class experience. So glad we choose to book here to dine while we watched the Champions League final. What a memorable occasion! I requested a table with good view for the game and thanks to the care and attention of manager Sam, we got the best seats in the house! The atmosphere in the bar was electric, it was fun, happy and every one was in a party mood. After starting off on a couple of the signature cocktails we chose a South African Shiraz which was perfect in accompanying the gorgeous spicy chicken wings and crudités to share.Son had fish and chips which was delish. Obvs as Liverpool won, we had to get a bottle of bubbly. The staff couldn’t do enough to ensure everyone had a great night. Will def be back xx

Gorgeous food in elegant, comfortable, spacious surroundings. Our waitress Lucy was an absolute delight, attentive, engaging and obviously nothing was too much trouble. NYL should be proud to have her on the staff until she goes off to pursue her dream elsewhere. A perfect evening made even more special by fantastic service. Little things make a huge difference. Came here on Saturday night with 4 of us, Loved it!! Staff were wonderful, from cocktails at the bar to dinner in the restaurant, service was spot on would deffo return!
