Nuvo Bar & Restaurant in Birmingham

Went here for a business dinner. Their staff were very attentive. The place is clean and the food was great. Their sushi platter were presented well and taste good as well. Highly recommend the beef on skewers. It is perfectly cooked and tastes great! The only thing missing here is the knowledge of their waiting staff in terms of food being served. It was not explained and when asked have to go back to the kitchen and get the answer. It was overall a bit pricey but gives good value in terms of quality.

For anyone looking for a quality restaurant experience, look no further than oko. I came in last Sunday for my sisters birthday and our experience was lovely. The food was delicious, I had the black cod which was cooked to perfection flaky and delicious along with rock shrimp which had excellent texture. As an avid fan of Japanese cuisine, we were more than impressed. One issue I had were that the fries weren’t seasoned enough but the Manager came over personally to sort it out for us. This is rare and we were happy that the dedication to customer service was displayed. Thank you oko for having us we’ll be back soon!!

We come last December and had a lovely meal. Spent alot of money way over £150 between two. This time we’ve come for Mother’s Day. Waited over a hour for a starters (they got it wrong and brought sushi out) then our mains was 50 min wait and they also got that wrong too. We got our mains and then was waiting 10 minutes for our sides to come out. Woman’s toilets were disgustingly dirty, toilet paper everywhere, sinks were covered in hair. Very disappointed in this restaurant as we had such a good turn out last time

Booked a table at the restaurant and a booth afterwards for my birthday; payed a £100 deposit for the booth. 10 days before I had to cancel because half of my friends got covid and were isolating so I had to cancel, I text nuvo on WhatsApp about this and they said it’s non refundable and they ‘can’t’ refund me. However no where on their website or never did they tell me the deposit was non refundable and after I questioned this they blanked the message and have not replied back to me. This is highly unprofessional and terrible customer service. Also ILLEGAL they legally can not withhold an £100 deposit unless clearly stated so in terms and conditions and IT WAS NOT! (Or ever even mentioned it was non refundable) Clearly a ploy to scam more money.

I went to Nuvo with friends for a birthday night out. Paid £10 each to get in & we went upstairs. Shortly afterwards a waitress comes over and tells us we can sit anywhere because it’s ALL reserved. She wouldn’t tell us where to go instead. Extremely unprofessional as we should have been told this before we all paid £10 to get in. Unhelpful staff, music ok. Wouldn’t go back there again.

We Came to visit Nuvo for my friends birthday. On arrival the card machine was not working so we had to go to the cash point the staff weren’t chaotic . Once we arrived back and went Upstairs the room was a sweat box full of steam and dingy. The door team was polite and friendly but the door staff upstairs were completely oblivious to what was happing right in front of them . I cannot believe in 2021 you have no female door staff as several incidents happened throughout the night involving females . Being a female who has worked on doors I queried it with the door staff, a couple of them told me it was down to the manger not wanting to pay for more staff . I asked to speak to the manger about it , he was uninterested, cocky and dismissive. He clearly has no respect for women at all . Absolutely disgraceful charging people £200 pound for a bottle you can buy for £35 on the shops. The only upside was that the DJ was amazing . I would not waste my time again to be honest .

The food was delicious and the service was great. We had a wonderful meal which was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. Cocktails didn’t disappoint and staff were wonderful. Highly recommended!

Visit last Satuday afternoon, staff were very welcoming and friendly. The food is so fresh and tasty, the best I have tasted in a long time as travel to London on a regualr basis, and this restaurant beats a lot other places I ave treid. Visited here last night and what a beautiful restaurant! One of the best Japanese restaurants around! I have been to places like Nobu & Roka and this restaurant is up there with being one of the top places. The staff are so friendly, welcoming and very attentive, the food is amazing and I highly recommend the Kyoto Platter & Black cod!! Cant wait to be back here soon for my mums 50th :)

It started off very badly, I booked a table for 9:30pm as me and the wife love sushi and wanted give this place a try. An hour later I got a text saying that there were problems with the booking system could we come at 10pm instead. Not an issue but no discounts or free drinks offered for the convenience. We walked across from Bank at 9:30ish hoping to have a drink a drink at the bar before our meal, we were escorted upstairs and told we couldn’t have a cocktail as they weren’t served upstairs again not an issue but the 2 girls on the table next to us were given cocktails 15 mins later maybe we were the wrong colour for them, not sure. However things improved when we’re taken back downstairs for our meal which was very nice however for a £40 serving I would expect more sushi rather than twirls of salmon & tuna but it did all taste good. Will I be coming back? Maybe if the customer service improves but I doubt it as the owner is the guy who owned Chameleon bar & we all know what happened there

All the dishes we had were tasty but the black cod was the stand out dish: it was one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten and was perfectly cooked. The sushi & sashimi were excellent, too. The service was professional & friendly getting the balance just right. The wine selection was good. The restaurant was very comfortable and was busy without making any of us feel it was overcrowded. Good value for money, too.

I have become a regular diner at Nuvo. I eat Japanese all over the country and this is one of my favourites, the best in Birmingham definitely. The restaurant is always quiet on Wednesday's and Thursday's when I visit which is a huge contrast to Friday and Saturday, when I am told its very busy with the bar and nightclub in full swing. The service is always prompt and friendly, however, the highlight is the chef. The dishes that you are served are always beautifully presented and great tasting. The dry ice effect on the sushi is better than I have seen anywhere and a great way to impress anyone you take along. I'd also recommend the Steak strips and the Chicken Kaurate. The chef will make any sushi roll exactly to order and promptly. I visit every time I'm in Birmingham and suggest you give it a try. The prefect place to dine for sushi but also a range of food for those whom might not be big sushi eaters.

Visited this bar as we were staying at a local hotel and wanted to dine out. Nice surroundings, decor is good. The bar was relatively empty as it was midweek. Service was quick and polite and we got table service too as it was not busy - so bonus not having to get up and go to the bar! Would be good for a night out.

Our bar lady was very bubbly and helpful with recommendations for drinks and where to head next. Funny when she called me a cheaper for drinking and eating, but sorry I had to order a second portion of fries, for some reason they very very delicious. First time at the bar beautiful venue, will return.

Estas ancianas mayores de 65 años que reparten pañuelos, etc., se quedaron sentadasun cubículo del baño durante el turno de 10 p. m. a 3 a. m. porque no se le proporciona un asiento. We had a two course bottomless brunch with a wowcher deal, the service was excellent, glasses refilled quickly, food was lovely, would definitely revisit.

The manager has no customer service skills at all!!! He was very rude and had an attitude from the second I approached him!! They do not no how to talk to people!!! I would avoid this place at all costs if u want to be treated with respect!!!

Booked a VIP booth for drinks for Friday night. When I enquired I was told there was only one booth left as it was a busy night and we need to arrive before 12 and the minimum spend was £300.

We were in a group of 8 and went to Nuvo straight from work .... the place has very good ambience, seating arrangements and cocktail deals .... staff was very friendly and helpful .... reasonably priced ....

Its a pretentious place with rude door staff who forget how to treat humans like humans. its not posh as it full of kids wanna be thug type. It use to be the place to be but now, nope. It is ok for music and drinks are pricy but yeh, thats most places,, Bar staff are probably tthe friendliest, some of the bar staff girls are rude too, they see you waiting and stand around and chat.. im a strong believer in excellent cust serviuce and this play doesnt offer that. it only offers the rich look to standard waged ppl.. x

After managing to get in and buying drinks the security staff decided to eject my daughter . God only knows why as they couldn’t tell us why. She was not drunk , she was minding her own business. This place is a joke .

I have been using Nuvo quite regularly over the years used to be a fantastic night on a Saturday evening with a great vibe, but just lately the vibe is slowing dying the music is getting worse like being in 90's bar always playing dated music. Its the only thing that lets it down because the staff are great and the venue itself is lovely probably one of the better places to go in town the cocktails are great and there is a great selection of drinks to choose from just wish they would get back to playing the vocal house music again.

Etiquette! Apparently this place has an etiquette and “look” which is what is two people who stand at the doors perception of whether you look right / good enough to get in.

This bar / club is located on the edge of Brindley Place. We called in early on Saturday evening for an aperitif. We warmly welcome and and enjoyed two glasses of prosecco for £6.10 each.

Estaba claro que el portero ya había compuesto su mente y parecía la intención de doblar para nosotros sin ninguna razón aparente. Salimos de nuestro taxi fuera de Nuvo y fue nuestro primer punto de llamada y no ha tenido una bebida alcohólica. Simplemente como un par disfrutar de una noche rara lejos de los niños para celebrar San Valentín. A pesar de que muestra el portero mi carné y él preguntándole si realmente cree que mi esposa no era de la misma edad que simplemente se encogió y perdón es una política que tiene que mostrar un documento de identidad. The manager Naime is out of her depth. She is hard to reach and less than knowledgeable of the services on offer. I ended up cancelling my planned birthday party as I did not want to be let down.

Fuimos allí para una copa después de cenar y pasamos a la fuerza pasando 3 muy grosero tenían porteros que parecía disfrutar de bloquear la entrada con sus cuerpos a pesar de que tenía el seguir adelante. Música, demasiado alto para el tamaño de local que es muy claustrofóbico. Tiene ZONA VIP, pero yo no diría que valió la pena las 50 libras. Los huéspedes ya hay constantemente enviando jarras diciendo su plana, lo que era. Las bebidas eran de los cócteles pero era surprsied precios para verlos preparar un mojito sólo £10 a la prensa la bebida de la copa y a los lados de la cantidad de hielo en el cristal pegadas físicamente. Por el momento conseguimos la copa hay unos 3 a través de la pajita. slurps Es un sitio en el que no se suelen ir de nuevo.

Worst and I mean WORST club I have ever been in, doormen with huge egos on a power trip and seriously overpriced. We were a large group of variable ages on a hen do, we stumbled across this bar as it was empty but had seating as some of our older party members required. Three of our party held the seats while our party made our way over but as soon as the group arrived we were ordered to remove our sashes (hen party).........honestly?! The hen was allowed to keep her veil on so quite what difference the sashes made is beyond me and why the 3 members who saved the seats weren't told to remove theirs? Having read the other comments I don't think our faces fitted and our appearances met their standards and the excuse was found to force our decision to leave. All I can say is I too have standards, standards that will not be lowered in visiting or recommending your establishment ever again. Good luck in hospitality trade - it's obviously where your skills lie lol.

Gorgeous cocktails, glamorous atmosphere VIP essence love a night out here. Dress to impress though and not cheap

Went here with a group and hired a supposed VIP booth for £50ph. This consisted of a bench that fits max 5/6 people. We were sat right by the stairs with people constantly cutting across our supposed section. Some bottles were included in the cost but the coke and lemonade tasted flat and not as it should. It's quite a busy place and the music is extremely loud unless we were just positioned right next to a speaker. Dj was good, staff seem friendly. I have been here before but wouldn't rush to go back. Not sure if this is where the 'in crowd' hang out, but we had a quiet giggle at a few people in there.

Last night was my first time at Nuvo and I am very impressed with the service the food and the night club in general. The food was amazing and everything tasted so good. I highly recommend nuvo!

We had the tapas menu to share and UNLIMITED prosecco, so so so much food all hot and delicious. Perfectly served by attentive staff in a great atmosphere. Thank you for such a great experience we can't wait to come back!

Visited here on the 17 December 2016 for office Xmas do. We were there early but there was no atmosphere and we had the buffet which was ok, but a bit weird as there was great platters of roasts potatoes with fish and chips! There was also great bowls of pasta and rice and there was to much food and a great waste, would cut down on the portion size!

Me and my friend went on a random night out. We thought we would try Nuvo out. We paid £10 each to get in and the place was completely dead. The upstairs was closed off too.The drinks are way too overpriced. And the staff are way too prestige and rude.Not a place to go for a easy, fun night out. Would not recommend.

I thought this would ideal for us girls to start our birthday drinks here. How wrong the service is terrible the toilets were so messy and the floor was flooded. First the doorman was very rude to many ppl lucky we weren't talked to like that otherwise would have walked out. Not all that if you want to drink, chat and dance.Not at allImpressed!!!!

Booked for Bottomless Prosecco & Tapas 2 weekends in a row, can't recommend highly enough! Top quality food & drink, chilled atmosphere and first class service. Great value for money. Elenitsa & Fernanda; our waitresses, were amazing both nights! Very friendly, hospitable and attentive. Celebrated 2 birthdays and was very well looked after. Staff ensured we all had a great night. Athena was also very helpful with booking tables.

I had come see a lady called Naime about having my 40th Birthday Party not even planned for 2016 but in 2017 so giving enough notice so I could plan my Birthday ahead of time. I had friends and family flying in from abroad so I needed this pre booked. She explained everything to me and said will send me a contract that I will need to sign and return along with a deposit payment. Considering there was a £3,500 Minimum spend to rent the upstairs part.She also said she has put this in her diary preliminary. I never received an email so I chased and sent text messages to Naime who then responded saying she had it in the radar still and will get back to me. I never got a call back or an email.Basically no reply so I chased again and no reply came back. If this is how you treat customers than it's shocking as a courtesy call to say yes or no would have been nice. Anyway I took my spend else where .Just wanted to let anyone else who wants to have a special party there to be careful of the dissappoinment.

Taken the Mrs here for her birthday brilliant atmosphere and beautiful place for cocktails. We had a really nice time and would come again in the day time to try the food

I have visited Nuvo on numerous occasions over the past 6 months. On every visit, I have had a 5* evening. The drinks are wonderful, and just like anything in life, you get what you pay for. I suggest going for a Porn Star, it will knock your socks off and have you coming back for more. The surroundings are salubrious, and you just feel that tapestry of elegance surrounding you. Having worked and lived all over the world, I have to say NUVO would be a welcome addition to any of the cities I have lived. Keep up the great work and may my visits continue to be 5* until I can visit no more.

Both myself and my friend go to this bar every Saturday and have been doing so for 18 months... always busy with a good mix of people. Bar staff, management and bouncers all very polite and professional. I have had some of the best nights here. Highly recommend this bar if you want a class night.

Visited on a voucher with my Son on a thursday evening. As they had a large party in they found it difficult to accomodate us but we offered to sit outside. The waitress was really helpful and the tapas and cocktails were excellent.

Massively overrated, after months of trying to get in with my friends who are all businesspeople and respected people in their fields as well as caring members of their families. We were never usually allowed in, so our surprise after our 15th attempt in a few mere months and we're in.We always felt that the bouncers and staff were very picky with us and that was why we were never allowed in and that it was a place where they only allowed the best looking and rich looking in after we had not been allowed in on numerous occasions. One final attempt from one member of our group.. And we got in!We expected this to the be the niche and upmarket bar of Birmingham, something Birmingham has been crying for years for, the very reason we didn't go London that weekend.. So we're in.. What an absolutely awful night, full of sweaty drunk people with the manager happily entertaining local footballers and giving special treatment to anyone who looked good looking enough to be with her.We had our drinks and we were out.

Had a voucher which allowed four shared plates and prosecco between two. We went on a Thursday night, it was quiet. The waitress was great- really friendly and offered advise on which tapas etc to choose. The food was lovely- tasty and the right amount! I have to say the cocktails were delicious, some of the best I've had. As I was driving I had the non alcoholic type- and the bar man gave me one to try for free that he was experimenting with- it was really nice. Service was good, ambience fine. Great for what we wanted- a girlie catch up but maybe too quiet for some people. It was good value for money, even with our added extras. It was a genuinely pleasant evening with staff who were friendly and efficient.

Attended with a group as part of a pre arranged cocktail class.Great evening with great drinks and a lovely atmosphere. The cass was £25 and included 3 cocktails. You make these yourself so can be a bit generous with the measures. They will also make non-alcoholic ones as we had non drinkers / a pregnant lady. We also had food with it from the tapas menu which average £5 an item. There was a great variety of items and what we had was great. We all picked different ones so we could have a taste. Oh the bread was much bigger than we expected so defo great value on that one.

I went to Nuvo for quick food and drink before going to the jam House and Nuvo were able to accommodate both.Food was cooked, prepared and served perfectly and each dish was explained well and recommendations were offered also. It is good to see the staff know what they are serving.Great choice of cocktail were offered, definitely one of my favourites now and the service was perfect.Fernanda was the waitress and she had wonderful people skills and was very attentive and very upbeat and joyful in her work.Thank you for a great experience.

Came to Birmingham for a show and decided to have a few drinks in Nuvo on a Friday night.. We had one drink and left as the vibe was an odd one to us. We are both in our late 20s and felt it was mostly catered for an older crowd, most people sitting down in the 'vip' area, mix of commercial pop/rnb then went into house music... Won't return I'm afraid

Had a Groupon Voucher as an anniversary present for here, for 2 glasses of prosecco and 4 tasting dishes. I wasn't expecting too much as previous groupon vouchers I have experienced in the past have been very disappointing. Nuvo has proved me wrong. Fantastic food, wine and hostess. Will definitely be re-visiting in the near future.My only negative comments are trying to speak to anyone in advance via phone is impossible as no-one answers, I was unable to view their menu on line beforehand as their website seemed to divert from this request and the venue was a bit hard to find initially.

I had the most amazing service and Cocktails here. The new GM. yan, was most accommodating and polite. They staff were very friendly and everybody was smiling. The place to be seen.

We had the most amazing time on Friday evening for a surprise cocktail making party. There was 16 of us making cocktails and we all made 3 each whilst having fun with Ryan, he was fantastic teaching us all and swinging bottles around it was an maxing night and made lots of memories. Had a Groupon voucher for here, £50 to spend on food for £25! Trouble is the only thing on the menu (which we were told was new) is sharing platters (Tapa's). We were a little disappointed to begin with to be honest, but the food brought out to us made up for it! Everything was of a good quality and hot. We had a lot of Tapa's to share and a dessert! Cocktails were bogof, pretty standard in this area we found out later. The waitress was very attentive and the bar was clean and modern, although we found the music to be too loud whilst we were eating, we had to shout to each other! Can't comment on the bar upstairs as only ate here then left.

Went to Nuvo Bar for a ladies night out one Saturday night. The club is nice, spacious dance floor upstairs with the VIP tables surrounding the dance area. We didn't buy drinks as they came with the tables we booked. It got quite busy around 11pm, the dj played club music, r'n'b, bashment & a bit if garage. The toilets were clean but if you want to go outside to smoke you have to go back down the staircase, outside to the heated area & re-join the queue for upstairs on your return. All in all.... A good night.

Was bought a groupon for my birthday, our 1st time here .unusual place for us and a bit early for them to be busy .plenty of food ,all of which was good , Salmon dish was best , friendly staff and great cocktails .enjoyed it but not really our sort of place

I had a champagne cocktail in here which was the best I have ever tasted! The music wasn't brill and I didn't really know many songs. We had many drinks in here but I wasn't too impressed with the staff at the end of the night. We were served drinks and told it closed at 3am however the lights went up after about 5 minutes of buying our drinks and then the staff were not accommodating to allowing an adequate length of time to drink them. The law is 20 minutes. Being good customers, I expect to be respected and showing that you just want to get home is not very professional. The toilets weren't the cleanest. This I rate as an average bar BUT doesn't need to be average at all!

I booked a groupon deal for me and my fiancé which was great value for money! However when we arrived at 8pm (when we were booked in for) we were not met at the door by anyone so just walked in and went to the bar. I could tell straight away that they were understaffed (which should not really happen on a Saturday night) and most people in there were eating and no tables were available. A very angry looking couple were already waiting to be seated for food, and when we finally spoke to the lady who seemed to be in charge she just said there was a wait for tables (even though I explained we had booked.) We were told to get a drink at the bar and wait. I was very unhappy and angry, and to be honest if it wasn't for the groupon deal already paid for I would have walked out. Finally we were sat at a table half an hour later, and then finally were able to start eating our food an hour after our arrival. The food itself was lovely and more then enough for two of us! We have the four plate sharers. Once sat we had a good evening and the lady was more apologetic and nicer once we had sat down. Overall the experience was ruined by the rude and late start but the food saved the evening as it was pleasant.

First time to the Nuvo bar and we absolutely loved it. Staff were great. Food was amazing and so were the cocktails. Money well spent.

We went with a groupon voucher and had a really nice meal. The lamb chops were excellent. The cocktail list has a 2 for 1 option and the house wine is excellent at £10 a bottle. The service was good and the decor is very modern. Recommended

Not my usual sort of bar, as i'm normally a real ale drinker! However as we were visiting Edmunds and Symphony Hall this seemed appropriate! Visited early doors early in the week, so it was very quiet. Pleasant enough spacious bar with a minimalist modern style of decoration. Ordered cocktails from the 2 for 1 menu and very nicely presented and tasty they were too. Pleasant table service and staff too. Worth a visit if your a cocktail fan.

Visited early Friday night, was very quiet but still early. Cocktails were gorgeous and staff efficient. food was also very good but quite slow!

Was really looking forward to going to this bar as it was highly recommended. It was strange that we had to queue to get in and then after we paid on the door we had to queue again to get upstairs, even though it plays the same music upstairs as downstairs, not so different! The door staff were very rude when we tried to get back in after paying and having the stamp to prove it. I don't understand why door staff think they can talk to you like something they've just wiped off their shoe I would understand if I'd been rude to them but I was just asking a question. The bar was half empty anyway and the music was mediocre. Won't be going back in a hurry.

We have visited nuvo bar a few times and have to say we cannot fault the food, staff friendly and attentive, great music, the only thing I will say is it was too cold in there after 9pm, the doors were left open and was quite uncomfortable.

I visited with my mum on a Friday at 4pm with a deal-4 sharing plates and 2 glasses of prosecco for £20. Food was great, especially the salmon and calamari. There were no other customers but presumed this was because it was quite early. Staff were very attentive and pleasant. We paid extra for dessert and sides. Just wish we'd tried the 2-4-1 cocktails!

4 of us. 8 sharing plates. Food was spot I and have never had so large sharing plates. Will certainly visit again. Venue was a little cold as was 7pm on a Saturday and presume this is due crowds expected later.

I was there on Friday night with a friend order some drinks soon as we got them they told as to leave they want to go home bar was still serving. security need to change attitude if they still want this place running

Visited here recently using a groupon voucher - 4 sharing plate with a glass of prosecco each. Great value. Lovely tasty food and much bigger portions than we expected. We went early so not meant eating but many workers drinking before going home so good atmosphere. Will certainly return to try their 241 cocktails when next in Birmingham. Get a voucher and go!
