Absolutely amazing food one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to, dishes were plentiful and we even took home a doggie bag with leftovers, staff were amazing and so kind could not make you feel any more welcome, restaurant small but cozy, lovely and clean, overall great service, take your own alcoholic drinks and cash only payment but that’s not a big issue definitely 5 star 🌟 didn’t get pictures of everything but we had pickle tray with 2 poppadoms, 1 starter to share, 2 mains, rice chips and naan bread and came to just over £40 great value for money.

Absolutely fantastic little restaurant, food and the staff are simply stunning. It’s local to us so we go quite regularly and we are never disappointed. It’s a BYOA restaurant which doesn’t bother us in the slightest because we just take a bottle of wine with us to go with our meal. You will not get better food or service than this place.

Firstly, I can't believe this little gem has been there 16 yrs Lovely welcome on arrival and place was quite busy but the 4 of us were seated straight away. We hadn't realised that Nur doesn't hold an alcohol licence but the owner told us to pop over the road for some. Couple of bottles of wine and some cold beers, the manager provided us with glasses. Menu is not massive but they offer a great range of classics and their own specialities. Had the obligatory poppadoms and pickle tray (5 or 6 pickles btw), followed by starters and mains. The food was delicious and in large portions enough to take some home. Deffo be back very soon, their specials nights look great value for money too at £15/head. Our 4 meals with poppadoms, starters, mains, rices, naans and chapatis came to £85 - Leftovers for tea tonight it was gorgeous.

An excellent evening with family was had at NUR last Sunday. We booked to 5.45pm and all ordered different starters and main meals so we could share each other's. Everyone one of us said how tasty and how good the quality of the food was. The offer is £14.99 each for pickle trays and poppadums, a choice of starter and main and a choice of any rice or any naan. The fish choices have a small additional cost. The restaurant doesn't have an alcohol licence so there's an option to take own beer or wine etc. We'll certainly book to go again.

Went here for my birthday with my wife and adult son. The waiter brought us poppadoms and pickle a tray while we browsed the menu. We then had mixed meat starters. For main I had chicken madras, my wife had garlic prawns and my son chicken tikka masala. We shared a pilau rice, garlic rice and a nan bread between us. All the food was top quality and well presented. This is the best Indian restaurant I have visited for a long time. I will definitely be visiting again. The Nur does not have a licence to sell alcohol, but you are allowed to take your own onto the premises.

Visited Nur this week, after a great evening there with friends a couple of months ago. However, this time it was a feast night (poppadom, pickle tray, starter, main & a rice or naan for £12.95), so we thought we'd give it a go. Great service, (with a great sense of humour to boot), from the outset again. The chicken was lovely and tender in all the dishes (chicken tikka starters, chicken karahi, & butter masala), & king prawns went down well too. The curry sauces were all amazing. Tried Karahi for a change to the usual madras, which is one of the great aspects of the feast nights (it's not a bank breaker if you get something you're not particularly keen on). The Karahi was lovely though. Can certainly recommend the Madras rice, which was packed with chillies 😊 The restaurant doesn't have a licence, but you can bring your own alcohol. I'm not a dessert fan, but was a tad jealous when I saw the molten chocolate cake with ice cream. Again, that went down very well. This place can (& did) get busy, so book early. 3 poppadoms, a pickle tray, 3 chicken tikka starters, a chicken karahi, butter chicken, king prawn korma, 2 garlic naans, 2 rices, & a molten chocolate cake with ice-cream for just over £45. Another enjoyable experience from Nur.

Visited yesterday, 21st Nov. There was only us in the Restuarant at 1830 until we left at 2000 but the takeaway orders were coming in steadily. Had our usual starter of pickle tray etc and these were OK slightly different as many have their own take of these things but at least the lime pickle returned lol & there was 5 choices. No Pathia again so change in food choice- colleague had the meat feast in sauce of Bagga Dingga Karahi which was plentiful on its own let alone the fluffy/light lovely Nan bread- well recommended meal. I opted for the tame Shatkora which was described as fairly hot- which it is not! There was plenty of food with the meals, served by a very friendly owner? Unfortunately, no alcohol on sale but we could have gone across the road in the rain to get something from the off-licence. This didn't spoil our experience. Would visit again without hesitation or order a takeaway.

Staff were really friendly on the phone, the food arrived on time, the delivery driver was great, the food was freshly cooked, and tasted delicious. They even threw in a few poppadoms and onion pickle for us, (a nice touch, thank you). We love Nur, and never go anywhere else for Indian food now. We've never had a bad dish yet from them. On this occasion, I went with my brother but I have been many times in the last year and worked my way through quite a lot of items on the menu. Its amazing how often you find good curry houses in less salubrious areas and this one is our current favorite. There are "Feast nights" on Thursday & Sunday which costs £10 for any main + any starter + popadom & pickle tray + Any Rice OR Nan) with £2 extra for any king prawn dish. Make sure you book for these mights because the restaurant is quite small. The service is very friendly, you should perhaps even expect banter once they start getting to know you. Bring a healthy appetite too the portions are quite generous. Best of all, it is the most reliably good food among all the Doncaster Curry houses I've been to - and that's nearly all of them, I'm hard pressed to think of down sides but if you want a very quiet evening perhaps you should go somewhere else. A joy.

Quality as always. Food is always tasty, hot and consistent. Service is friendly and locally appropriate. If you want honest service and great food this is certainly the place for you. The restaurant is quite small and can probably only seat around 30? So book in advance if you can as it is popular. Thursday and Sunday nights they offer a great offer of £9.95 for poppadoms, pickle tray, starter, sundry and curry. A huge advantage is the drinks policy; all alcohol is "bring your own" but soft drinks can still be purchased on site for mixers. Definitely recommend and often go in myself on Thursdays to enjoy the banquet offer.

We use it as an excellent alternative to going to Tickhills Zara's We have never actually been to the restaurant and have always relied on delivery. The food is extremely good. Our latest delivery was for the whole family and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Delivered inside the hour and driver bringing it told us that if there were any problems then to contact them. Unfortunately any leftovers cannot be frozen and Nur has confirmed this. They have a very challenging menu and maybe one day we will attempt to go through it but we always go for Bhajis, Samosas, Madras, Bhuna, Nan , Paratha , Bombay Aloo and poppodams. I was introduced to Nur's around six months ago by friends. I'm not from the area but we'll both travel from opposite directions and meet at the mid-point - which just happens to be this fantastic restaurant. My parents brought me up on Indian food so I like to think I've acquired a certain taste for great Indian food, but to be totally honest this place surpassed all my expectations. Sure it's not got the decor of a five-star restaurant - don't come here if you're looking for that. What it does have is a family feel to the whole experience, we're always greeted by the owner who takes his time to both serve and speak to every single person who comes through his door. We particularly love visiting on a Sunday or Thursday for the buffet evening. £9.99 for a starter, main and side is fantastic value for money - Better still the portions are so large here that we always end up taking some home to enjoy the next day. I'd advise booking a table in advance if you're looking to dine in though, the restaurant only holds around 30 people and is very popular.

After going over to the shop to get some alcohol as it byo the local shop lady went on to tell me how she was threatened by a child with a Stanley knife the other day. The said child was beating on the shop panels as he wasn't allowed to buy a lucozade as he was banned. This did not make the setting of nur a pleasurable one which is directly opposite. We got seated quickly as we had booked. Took about 20 mins to get a menu. Poppadoms were nice, possibly best bit of the eveningMain food came which was tiny tiny portions. We ordered 5 dishes between 2: of us and it still wasn't enough. Got the wrong naan bread with no apology at the end ( didn't come up during the meal asking if was ok) No music playing, no atmosphere, no politeness like once before. Went with my fiance and friend and was amazed how easy it was to book a table and then to rearrange at a later date.Staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered a fair amount of food trying some dishes that we'd never had before and they were all delicious. We will definitely be returning soon. For the 3 of us with pickle tray and lots of side dishes it came to just over £30. The cheapest I've been to in a long time. Also being able to take your own booze helped. Great staff, fab food, amazing price!See you again soon.

Went on Monday for a friends birthday meal. Lovely and clean, good service. Staff friendly. However, it was cold in the restaurant despite the heating being on. We didn't have starters, just poppadoms and pickle tray. Wasn't really a fan of the pickles at all. it took a while for our mains to come. The naan bread was the best I've ever eaten, delicious. The main was average and the pillau rice not nice at all. More like fried rice. It was brown. I would go again and try something else. It was very good value for money too. Try it for yourselves.

We had a lovely New Year's Eve meal. We use this restaurant often. They had forgotten to deduct our deposit from the bill but phoned me the next day. There honesty surpassed me. Top marks to all the staff

We called in on the way home and was pleasantly surprised. Bring your own beer is fine if you forget as there is a co-op next door. Popadoms and pickles were nice. I had the lamb balti and my partner had the lamb rogan Josh both were very nice. Naan bread was one of the best I have had crispy on the bottom and soft on top! Great food well definitely go back. Staff were really friendly too

We ordered a takeaway for the first time from Nur, won't be ordering again, the balti was full of grease and the tikka masala tasted far too sweet. It made me and my husband have a bad stomach the next day.Not good.

We visited Nur for a family birthday on a Saturday night having pre-booked a table for 6. The restaurant isn't in the greatest of areas but don't be put off by this. The staff were very friendly and tended to us quickly when we sat down. The bonus of this restaurant is it's BYOB which is perfect, take as much alcohol as you wish but leave the soft drinks at home, a reasonable policy. The menu has plenty of choice as well as all the classic Indian options. The food came in an acceptable time and was fabulous. Fresh, home cooked Bhaj's and curry mains as well as the huge family naan which was delightful. The bill was also surprisingly cheap for such a lovely meal we will definitely be returning!

This is a BYO restaurant, you bring your own beer or wine, although they do serve soft drinks. The place is small and doesn't accommodate more than a couple of dozen diners at once, and the ambience is pretty relaxed. The menu has a great variety of dishes, both the usual British favourites like korma and tikka masala, but also some superb Bangladeshi dishes. The naan breads are the best I have eaten, anywhere, ever. All the food is freshly prepared and extremely tasty, I've never had a bad dish here. The guys running the place are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Because it's small you do need to book, but it's work it. The prices are astonishingly reasonable. We went in a party of six and bill for all of us was £56. Definitely recommended.

We have eaten from here many times and to be honest the food is very good but when your paying over £6 for a takeway main meal (with out rice)and the carton it comes in is only half full it's a bit unfair to say the least ....SO COME ON NUR DON'T BE TIGHT OR YOUR GOING TO LOOSE BUISNESS

Great food and Mohamed will bend over backwards to cook you what you want, only two problems place is small so booking is essential and what to choose because everything tastes great. I am a veggie and the selection is excellent. There is no bar so you have to take your own booze but they do soft drinks and tap water.

Decided I needed a curry fix so straight on the internet for a curry house and read reviews and liked what I read about this place. The 3 of us ordered poppadum's pickle tray, a main and rice each, all very reasonably priced. The food tasted lovely, fresh and delicious. We also ordered the family nan bread, I didn't know whether to eat it or wrap myself up in it, it's massive!! One thing I particularly liked about this place is it's unlicensed so they allow you to bring your own wine, lager etc. which saves you a fortune on overpriced wine or beer you usually pay for and they don't charge you for glass or corkage either. All in all very good value and would highly recommend especially if you have a big appetite.

This little restaurant was recommended to me by a fellow chef so myself and my good lady decided to try it out.We were both extremely satisfied with the service, friendliness and the quality and taste of the dishes we tried. The decor is a little sparse but its clean and tidy. For what we charged we will definately be returning.

Edit, the guys have turned this place around in the last 18 months and I would recommend again and have been using regularly. I’ve also had numerous conversations along the way with the new owner. They are now backto being the best in Doncaster. For reference, here’s what I wrote after they had taken over. “Sorry guys. When you took over masala a few months back I was impressed. You went back to doing things Jay style (Jay was head chef at masala 7 years back) and I was happy that you’d rescued masala. Unfortunately that didn’t last long. My last three orders have been very Pataks which I can buy in the supermarket. To add to the misery, todays order has what I thought was glass in it (turned out to be a molten sugar cube). I’d eaten hardly any before discovering it nearly breaking my tooth. Who knows how many more there are as I haven’t eaten any more. I’ve commented on masala for a lot of years, giving high praise where it was due and letting masala know when they were getting it wrong. Ask old Abdul or Jay (you know them). Some of your recent Google comments have been good and it’s no surprise because when you took over it was good but anyone thinking of trying them now, don’t be fooled the older photos, they are nothing like what I’ve received lately. One comment is that the reviewer had eaten all over the world and that yours was the best. That was true for me at one time (Jay time) and a comment I left before old masala struggled recently. It’s up to you guys to turn it around but if you don’t, check back on these comments in 12 months when you are wondering why it’s failing. This is Doncaster. £15 for a curry, rice and naan isn’t cheap. Especially if it’s no better than my non Indian missus can make at home. The people will vote with their feet.”

What a little Gem! We decided to eat here while staying in Doncaster. Wow what a lovely little place. The staff are just beautiful; warm and humble. The food was absolutely gorgeous. Definitely recommend the momos, chicken jalfrezi and Nepalese chicken masala. This will be a regular eatery for us when we stay in Doncaster. If I could give more than 5 stars I would 😊

Ordered £32 worth of food that came with no freebies. I’m not being cheap but some poppadoms wouldn’t go a miss. You can order same food from indus for £25 and they give you poppadoms pickle tray and chips free. Won’t be ordering from here again.
