We had a very nice, large and quiet room. The mattress was very good and I really liked that the toilet was separate. Very well furnished, kettle and fridge and hairdryer available. And the breakfast is excellent. Be sure to book it. This is really worth it. Fruit, vegetables, cheese, sausage, yogurt, muesli, scrambled eggs... Everything is there. And you can even bake waffles. The location is great. Right in the city center. 8 minutes to Grass Market. Mega!

Good morning. Very late arrival...(3am) but perfect welcome despite the language barrier. Small cafe with perfect service. Magnificent room, very large, fully functional with a welcome tray and everything you need for the fridge. Very large bathroom with a shower original.perfect. Perfect breakfast welcome with a French speaking person, a plus for the hotel. A little light for my taste. (lack of pancakes, a little more choice in pastries and bread, kiwis, regional specialty pastries and yogurts.) My professional cooking side coming out, but nothing serious. but very satisfying overall because it is very varied Our stay was perfect, nothing to complain about.. You have a wonderful team, smiling, dynamic and welcoming. In short, we will come back with pleasure Sincerely.

The hotel is close to lots of nice shops (even a cat bar) and emblematic places to visit. The Timberbush Tours meeting point is just a 5-minute walk away if you want to take a trip to Loch Ness. The hotel offers plenty of quality services to make your stay convenient (umbrella, luggage storage, city map, etc.). In addition, there is a spa and a restaurant/bar. What really made the difference during our stay was the friendliness of the staff! Everyone was remarkably kind, always ready to help and wearing a warm smile. THANKS. :)

Nobody speaks a word of French. No international electrical outlet in the room Not a sheet of paper or a pencil in the rooms.

I liked the relaxed feel of the hotel. The staff were friendly (mostly) . It was very clean, brekkie was good, located in a nice area (near the University & park). Only 10 minutes walk from the main touristy area (the Royal Mile). Overall a very pleasant stay.

Website advertised parking. While there is parking on site there are only 15 spaces available and I'd you're lucky enough to get a space you're charged over £20 per day to park there, this isn't stated on their website. Room facilities are standard, nice bed and couch with tea and coffee facilities but advertised a TV with a media hub function, this is incorrect. Only TV you can get is normal channels with no option of a guide. There is an on-site bar and restaurant but while charging over the odds for what they call restaurant level food it's sub par. basically food isn't fresh, it's frozen store level food that's cooked on site and served with restaurant prices. Bit of a rip off really. The staff are professional when you talk to them but you do get the feeling you're inconveniencing them for asking a question. All in all it's a mid level place advertised as a luxury venue, Misleading information on their website. Due to the parking being advertised incorrectly and without informing you they're going to charge you to park we will have a £70 parking bill to pay by the time we leave, this is money not considered or even earmarked for parking leaving us will less resources to enjoy our time in this beautiful city. The establishment can do better but I doubt they'll actually do anything to improve their service based on the years old bad reviews it's got and still no noticeable change from them until now The staff are terrible at communication, there was planned maintenance for the shower in our room, we weren't Informed of this until we had someone unlock our room and enter it while we were sleeping at 0830. Fire alarm tests at 0930 the same day, all things that the staff could have easily told us when we checked in as all other venues we've stayed at do this as a matter of practice and yet a place that over charges for room, food and drink can't even fathom letting their guests know that they could be disturbed during the day or while they're sleeping. It begs belief. We payed over £600 for our stay and would have gotten better service in a hostel. I wouldn't recommend staying here, it's brought the experience of Edinburgh down hill so fast.

It is a very central hotel, next to the Old Town, super clean, comfortable, with a pool and parking, very modern and with very good facilities. Super friendly staff. Highly recommended for traveling with children.

Do not stay here. Really poorly trained staff - old rooms that are poorly maintained. Lights blew for no reason one evening, weren't able to fix until I was out the next day. Maintenance or cleaning staff knocked a bunch of my things across the room while I was out the next day. Desk staff were rude and uninterested when I very politely explained it to them shortly after finding it this way.

Decent clean good sized rooms. Walking distance to the main tourist sites. Very friendly staff who do everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The swimming pool, jacuzzi, gym and sauna are also a welcome addition. The only issue we had was that housekeeping did not come once during our stay, not sure if this was due to us having bad luck or if this is just standard for short stays nowadays. Someone did come straight away when requested through reception.

Second stay at this hotel, accommodation is clean and well maintained, breakfast excellent, staff are lovely and its in a fantastic location for all of the attractions of Edinburgh. Only snag this visit was that the pool was cleaned Monday afternoon, when we went to swim in the evening the chlorine was so overwhelming that no one lasted more than 10 minutes before eyes were stinging and all of the children (not just mine) were coughing. We decided to cut it short, which was a shame as the pool is one of the main reasons we re booked this hotel.

The people at the counter are friendly, what we didn't like, one of the pillows was dirty, it had a stain between red and brown, we threw it on the floor and they didn't change it, they just covered the stain and put it back on the bed, the room was cleaned very late, in the morning there were no signs of cleaning, we left the room at 12 in the afternoon, we arrived around 3 and the room was still dirty, we went out to see and when we returned it seemed that they had barely cleaned the shower, it was full of water, when we unmade the bed, surprise under the covers was a little of our clothes and the cable of our charger, the towels were a little wet and folded instead of clean towels, to use the pool you have to ask if it is available since there are always children inside, there is nothing wrong but they should set schedules for adults and children, the pool had a lot of chlorine, the eyes burned quite a bit, the gym was also full of children playing with the equipment, the only good thing was the location

Extremely friendly staff, great little pool which has a booking system which worked well, fantastic location, 5 min walk to the castle.

Location is exelent just 5 minutes walk to Edinburgh Castle. And all tourist attractions is walkable.

The only thing that was an issues was how slow the front desk was. Someone helping with general enquiries and others checking guests in would have been great. Instead we had to wait 20 minutes just to say the key for swimming wasn't working. As a family of autistics this was really difficult. No lifeguard or staff at all downstairs. Only used pool once due to not feeling safe incase of incidents

During our stay at the beginning of February, we were very well received by the hotel reception. Perfect room, very well insulated Excellent breakfast hosted by Ackthar who also speaks French and is very friendly. I recommend this hotel.

PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS! So a person named Andy Hall (I don’t know if he’s an employee at Novotel Edinburgh Centre) sent a message to me on Telegram asking to put a review for money. I have never visited Novotel Edinburgh Centre. It would’ve been still a legitimate thing to ask for a review if I ever attended. This is misguiding people who genuinely look for review before visiting any place. I’ve uploaded the screenshots of the message as well. Please feel free to reach out when you decide to investigate this further. I assume this is something the Management is not aware of. If this issue is not addressed, I will take this to press, Social media etc.

Very nice experience in this hotel, welcoming and smiling staff, and understanding (I don't speak English very well) I was happy to chat with Ackthar during breakfast because he spoke French and gave us a lot of interesting information, he is very pleasant and professional. I recommend this hotel.

Good hotel in the centre, excellent breakfast and services including the restaurant and the swimming pool. Unfortunately, the room did not satisfy us, too narrow and cramped, a tiny bathroom and only one very small wardrobe for 3 people.

The Hotel is located in the center of the city, and that allows you to visit it without having to depend on public transportation. It offers a good buffet for breakfast, the rooms are large and clean, the staff is attentive and friendly, and they also have a pool for those days when the weather is not good. On weekends, events with live music are held in the bar/lounge area. Ideal for resting while you have a drink.

The hotel in general is good, the location is good although it is not in the Royal Mile area, the breakfast is very complete, clean and comfortable. I missed a normal plug like other hotels have, a closet in good condition since the one there doesn't fit anything, and I don't understand the restriction that children under 16 cannot enter the jacuzzi, plus everyone enters as soon as they can with their own. family. The variety of the hotel restaurant is very very limited. Amenities were missing in the room. Little mineral water, a small bottle being a triple room.

Arrived at the hotel on 21st December for Christmas. Hotel lobby nicely arranged, smelling nice, warm and cozy. Reception staff friendly and re-assuring. Once checked in, our room was small but had all we needed. Throughout the stay, we enjoyed the hotel, the staff, the restaurant that served delicious food and the bar. Special mention to Amalia from the bar/restaurant who was lovely! We would come back.

Absolutely loved our stay here and would definitely be back. The rooms are luxurious and clean. The pool and sauna are a great addition. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from city centre. The staff on reception and the bar were very friendly and helpful. Could not fault the place and would have stayed longer than 2 days if we could!

Great stay at Novotel. The breakfast is super good, the dinner menu is reasonable. The location is great, quiet but still close to the center and easy to walk. The swimming pool is also great for the children. Also nice that there is a sauna, it could be hotter, but fine. The cleaning service could be better, we had a late checkout because the baby had to sleep, but we were disturbed 3 times by housekeeping. The temperature of the rooms is very warm! This could be better.

Ideal for exploring the city. 5-10 minutes from Grassmarket. Part of the room with a view of Edinburgh Castle. The rooms are worn out. The breakfast was monotonous, the same offering throughout. Depending on the area, the employees are very accommodating to unbearable. No good morning. The cleaning staff stands out negatively.

The hotel is quite dated and primarily caters to tourists and families. There are many families with children, and the noise can be overwhelming, especially if you're traveling without kids. The breakfast is always the same and very basic. The rooms are clean, but the beds are uncomfortable, and I woke up with back pain. The seagulls tapping on the windows in the morning to wake up guests were cute. For an Accor Platinum guest there were just 2 small bottles of water in an executive room… However, the view of Edinburgh Castle was fantastic.

The Novotel Edinburgh City Centre proved to be an excellent choice. Rooms are spacious, featuring two queen-size beds (one convertible to a couch), comfortably accommodating our family of 3. Breakfast options are abundant, with children eating for free. The concierge is friendly and responsive. Checkout is super easy. The hotel’s location is ideal, just a short walk from Edinburgh Castle. I would surely recommend this hotel to others. Will likely consider Novotel for other travel destinations!

A central hotel to visit places of interest with very good facilities and very comfortable rooms but with a lack of heating. Regarding the staff of ten, especially three people Sonia, Jessica and Alejandro who made our stay very comfortable.

Great stay here - lovely staff, quiet and clean. Located 10 mins walk from all the major attractions, and has lovely amenities. The pool was a plus - 29'C water in the dead of winter - fabulous.

Without a doubt the best option to visit Edinburgh, central, with a heated pool that is already a plus point, new, modern and the staff a 10 although the restaurant is quite expensive

We had a couple days in Edinburgh so we wanted to stay close to the city central and Novotel seemed to be in a very good location. There are many good restaurants to eat close by about 10 minutes walk away which works really well for dinner every night. The room was good but the bathroom smelled so we asked the housekeeper who was working on the floor to spray some odor reduction spray in the room for us but it didn't work for long. There was an upgrade of the hotel system so the check in took quite a bit of time and they didn't actually have any of the requests in the booking at all. The pool is just in the basement straight down from the reception area and you can actually see it when you walk to the lift to the guest room, quite a strange design. Overall, a good location for our trip and places we want to visit!

First time in this hotel in Edinburgh, very warm welcome, very friendly and pleasant staff At breakfast, a big thank you to ACKTHAR for his kindness and professionalism. He was able to explain and guide us on the products and table. Lots of choice at breakfast ranging from savory to sweet. Unfortunately I didn't have time to test the swimming pool. That will be for another time.

Good hotel, 15min walk into center ,check in needs to be faster

Very cold and disdainful welcome, forgotten travel cot, fortunately they came to set it up. Room with a very pronounced chlorine smell, the cleaning of the bathroom leaves something to be desired for a 4 star. Not even talking about the check out person; arrogance and coldness to the max, the garage door that doesn't work properly Hotel that I do not recommend

Recently hired out a meeting room for training and all services were to a high standard. Magda was very helpful

At first glance the room looked grand and elegant, however when we actually started living in it, all sorts of inconveniences popped up. There was no air-conditioning, and 'bedroom temperature cannot be individually set in each room', so our room was freezing. We had to contact the staff(twice), who(eventually) kindly brought us a heater. Still, this kind of hassle could have been avoided. Apparently, I could not cast content from my phone to the TV, despite there being a big button for it on the remote. There were also quite a few minor inconveniences we’ve not experienced anywhere else. Not the best location for this price. Sadly, we will not come back.

Excellently located close to the castle Very helpful staff such as Sonia who helped with castle ticket purchase Disappointing Accor benefits almost non existent. A platinum member got no free breakfast no 50% breakfast discount for two, no dinner 50% discount for two. Was told that this was normal for the Uk left me wondering why anyone would pay an Accor membership in the Uk

Regretfully we will not be booking with Novotel again due to the highly disappointing experience during our recent stay. The room was not clean, with black mold visible near the wash basin. Additionally, the layout of the toilet and bathroom was inconvenient, as the toilet had no handwashing facility and was poorly lit with a dim, uncomfortable light. Further compounding the issue, the TV stopped working, and the phone line to contact reception was also out of order. We had to visit the reception in person to seek assistance, and although staff was sent to help, they were unable to resolve the issue with the television. Overall, this was one of the worst stays we have had at any hotel. Given the level of service provided, we believe Novotel should take responsibility and offer a refund.

Great location, really close to the castle. Room was also comfortable and clean. The couch bed is a bit inconvenient as one mattress slides away and there is gap in between the mattresses. The shower floor felt a bit slippery, maybe a shower mat in the room will be appreciated. Breakfast was great as well whether you like sweet or savory breakfast. Special thanks to Neli in the reception for a smooth check in and out process and being helpful, and to Damian from reservations for helping me with the reservation.

The hotel is great, the staff is super friendly, the room is not very big but it is very functional, the only one but it has a very small closet. The breakfast is excellent and it has a small spa which is appreciated after walking so much. I don't rate it with 10 points, because the cleaning service could be much better. Although it is not in Old Town, it is super well located 5 minutes from Grassmarket. There is a supermarket around the corner with a lot of options for fresh fruit, yogurts... If you take the Airlink 100 bus from the airport, the closest stop to the hotel is West End, in 10-15 minutes walk you are at the hotel .

Perfectly placed as a base to explore Edinburgh, a short walk from Grassmarket. Lovely products in the bathroom, complimentary water in the fridge. Only complaint was we were near the kitchens and the fans went all night. It has a pool although we didn't use it. Staff seemed friendly .

Had an executive room with a view of the castle, however, the way the bathroom and shower area are built, it's not a good option for family with kids.

We spent four days in Edinburgh with my wife at the end of May and really appreciated the welcome at the Novotel Centre. We recommend it. The staff are charming, available and very helpful, both at reception and in the restaurant. The diversity and quality of the breakfast buffet offer are excellent. We appreciated having access to the swimming pool and sauna even more as the weather was unfavorable. The rooms are very well soundproofed and we could not hear the street, even though it was just below. The only downside is the quality of the bedding, slightly less comfortable than we expected. This didn't stop us from sleeping well, however.

Chose twin beds, as we don't like a double size, and they were reasonably comfortable, in so far as hotel beds go. The room has all the amenities you need, and I liked the separate shower (not over the bath) and good sized bar fridge. Windows opened for fresh air. Hotel pool and spa are great - very well maintained. Sauna looked good although I didn't get a chance to try it. Breakfast was a standard hotel buffet, plenty of everything and topped up with fresh food continuously. Location is fantastic for the Royal Mile, Scotty Dog, Grassmarket (Harry Potter inspo site) plenty of good and drink options around, and a Sainsbury's not too far away.

This hotel offered an excellent service, all staff very helpful, the food in the restaurant and bar areas were lovely, we had time to relax in the sauna and pool & our executive room was lovely, breakfast was very good, the hotel could not be faulted & we thoroughly enjoyed staying in the Novotel , our room over looked Edinburgh Castle so everything we asked for the hotel accommodated, perfect location as well.
