Came for a friend's birthday. Food and drinks were amazing. Even one of the chefs, Leon took the time to wish my friend happy birthday

Had a great time, lovely food. Fantastic service. Chef Leon came out and checked on us, I thought that was a very nice thing to do. Had a very nice experience.

What a place absolutely fantastic.

Really disappointed with our breakfast. The service was very slow. One of our party ordered a mushroom omelette, which was dry and tasteless. Unfortunately, we will not be back as there are so many other places to eat in Edinburgh.

Very slow service. We had only drinks and waited ages to be served. Eventually, we had to go to the bar and asked the waiter if we could order drinks (they offer table service only). Very disappointed.

Although the seasoning of the pasta wasn't right, I was very satisfied with the shepherd's pie. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Although the taste was lacking compared to the cost, the staff were very friendly.

Issac was fantastic and very helpful with the gluten free menu. Scones were excellent.

Brown’s is one of our favorites in Edinburgh. This night’s dinner was a little off for us. Our server was slow to take our drink order and we had great difficulty understanding his accent. We understood about one in four words. The goblet of gin and tonic had ice nearly filled to the rim, diluting the gin. We tasted several reds and the server was very patient with us. All were way too dry and settled on a bottle that was barely acceptable. The Chateaubriand, served on a raised plateau, was cooked perfectly, tender and very tasty. The fried onion rings were lightly battered and wonderful. The frites were good. We had a ramekin of peppercorn sauce and the Béarnaise sauce was the winner. We were just about the last to leave the place. Our total bill was 130 pounds. Funny, I’ve been around, but I’ve never been charged separately for tonic water in a Gin & tonic, only at Brown’s.

Basil was an exceptional server for our first experience at Brown's. We wandered in during our first of a 3 day Edinburgh stay not knowing what to expect. The atmosphere, food and service was top level.

All 7 of us had an A+ experience here tonight! The food was delicious…the atmosphere was elegant and to top it off…Carlos our server was so charming, fun and real! We hope to make it back there before we leave in 4 days.

Food not good. Rissoto very undercooked. Veg curry no veg. Desert tasted shop bought. Crumble gritty. Big group all served together which was good. Waitress uninterested in complaints about food.

Went with group had fish two types of desserts for our wedding anniversary. It is on the expensive side but really nice inside.

The food was very good, but my Gf ordered a Earl Grey Tea and scrumbled eggs. (Full english breakfast) Both came wrong. 🤷‍♂️ My Eggs Beni with Lobster were great. 👌🏼

Pleasant surroundings and attentive staff but I’m afraid that the lunchtime food was disappointing. My asparagus mushroom starter was ok but you needed to know that asparagus was in there. The fishcakes main was cold and the kale was inedible. The spicy fries were devoid of any flavour. Waiter at least cut the kale from the bill. Shame really because it’s a nice place.

This wasn't a planned visit. We were hungry and walked past Browns. The menu and service were really good value.

Great food. Friendly staff. One of our favourite restaurants from our trip to Edinburgh. We had dinner one night and went back for brunch the next day. Both were excellent.

We walked in on a Tuesday evening around 7pm and were seated right away. The shepherd’s pie was delicious and flavorful. The roast cod was more delicate in flavor but still delicious. It came with a side of raw greens that I wish had some dressing. The linguine was well cooked but needed salt and pepper, and maybe some parmesan. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious, all sticky and caramel without being too overwhelmingly sweet. The rhubarb apple crumble was not nearly as good; the crumble was soft and mushy instead of crunchy.

Brilliant atmosphere, fantastic staff! Loved the steak and alcoholic drinks, however the caesar salad was really quite plain. All redeemed by the chocolate brownie though!

Visited today on my daughter’s 18th birthday. We had afternoon tea for 4. We visit every year for her birthday and I had noted on my booking that it was a special occasion. Food was lovely but we had to go and ask for our own tea after an hour. The table was full of plates but nobody came to clear anything. We were not offered any more drinks or water. We had to go and ask for a bill eventually. Really disappointing service. The tables at the front seemed to have lots of staff attention . Nobody even asked us if our food was ok!. Not a pleasant experience on my daughter’s special day. I think this is the first time I have asked for a service charge to be removed from the bill. We won’t be back.

We went to Brown's 3 times on our recent vacation: once in Edinburgh and twice in London. All three visits were wonderful. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious!!

Everything about our experience eating the most delicious and plentiful Sunday lunch was perfect thank you. I am in early stages of Huntingtons Disease. Without this knowledge aĺl staff sensed I was not as able as normal people and were very helpful! Our lovely attentive French waitress was eager to make my son and I comfortable and well fed. Her manner was kind and proffesional at the same time. She chaced after me with my pearl bracelet up George Street. Thank you again! We will return!

We had crunchy risotto, but the kind waitress took 4 bottles of wine off our bill. Overall we were really happy with the food, the drinks were priced in line with the rest of George St, and we had a great time

The food was brilliant I had the crab crumpet followed by the harissa chicken and my friend had the prawns and chorizo and the Lobster linguine. Will definitely be back again!

Genuinely awful food, considering the price. Lovely interiors, so might be good for some pre dinner drinks but if you like good food, go elsewhere.

Food is not great for the price you pay. Fish still had black skin on the bottom which was stuck to the batter. No lunch menu as its the festival. Staff lovely and very nicely decorated inside.

All the food was great. The creme brulee was a bit soft.

The food was nice, my fillet was medium well done and I ordered it rare. I addressed my problem to Carlos and he sorted it out at the moment. The service was amazing, I felt like at home and Carlos took care of us very well. Definitely will come back at some point, totally recommended!!!

Went to Browns for a birthday dinner, and absolutely loved it. The interior is gorgeous, the food options are all excellent and the servers were great. Would love to come back again!

If you want to be ripped off, this is the place for you, one barman charged me £7.26 for a pint of Perroni and the other barman charged me £6.60 for 2nd pint, l was too stunned at the prices to complain as my alcohol thirst couldn't give a toss if it was a £100 a pint...... but came to my senses and bought 4 Red Stripe out Co-op for £ 5.40, and don't get me started on Hard Rock Cafe..... further east George St..... they Scoundrels charged me £7.85, don't know why barstaff don't wear balaclava's

Absolutely fabulous spot. Best kids menu we've ever seen. Everything was amazing, we had a few of their summer cocktails, lamb shepherd's pie, and the chicken.

Average food, average service. Nice ambiance and decor however not enough to make me return. Waitress, while friendly, wasn't very attentive- finished plates left on the table for too long and waited too long to get her attention for the bill. Wouldn't recommend.

Have not enjoyed last 2 visits and have decided will not be back. Service was poor, did not enjoy food and six people at next table were noisy and at times could not hear ourselves speak. Things have changed, do not recognize any of the staff now and there is less of them.

Had the private room for a 30th birthday, it was nicely set up and staff very helpful and attentive and coped well with people forgetting what they ordered! Food was good and staff were happy to provide plates for birthday cake as well. Only criticism was the ordering and paying system for drinks which caused some confusion over who had paid for which drinks. I would suggest the waiter having a card reader and getting payment for drinks as they were ordered, would be much simpler.

Starter of baked cheese was bland ,steak was nice, but served with blunt knives a sharp steak knife is essential to enjoying a steak , the bottle of Chablis was chilled and enjoyable to drink

Saturday lunch yesterday for four was delightful. Food excellent (as usual…have never had a bad experience in any Browns, Oxford or Cambridge). Staff were efficient and courteous, left my brother and I to catch-up and occupied the table for four hours with no sense of being hurried along. We booked for midday and it was virtually empty, filling up by 1pm. If you want it quiet go early. Photographs of half-eaten plates of food is disingenuous to hard working staff. I’m sure everyone has an off day but I despair at the less than constructive feedback. Yes it’s pricey but I have always found the experience exceptional.

We are visiting from Philadelphia area in PA. The food here is amazing. Gluten free options for my daughter are the best and so many options! Uxia waited on us today for lunch and was so pleasant. Definitely recommend!

Many gluten free options, and felt very safe regarding gluten free. This is also why I chose the restaurant.

Visited this restaurant for dinner. We ordered a rack of lamb, chorizo risotto and both meals were amazing. We had the brownie with honeycomb and creme brulee for dessert and they did not disappoint at all!! Reservations are recommended. The restaurant has outdoor seating that opens when the weather permits.

It was an amazing experience. Went to Brown’s for my partner’s birthday and the service by Annette and the atmosphere was truly fantastic. Mouth watering food and a little birthday surprise just added a cherry on the cake in our experience.
