Great experience at the Liverpool docks, thanks Laura!

I think so far, of the restaurants we've tried in Liverpool, this is my favourite. A warm and pleasant atmosphere. It has salads, burgers, wraps... there is a variety. We tried several things and the truth is that we liked everything, especially the Traditional Scouse and the Mount Temple. For dessert, I choose the Sticky Togfee pudding. The girl who served us, Laura, was very nice and friendly. When you travel you appreciate that someone speaks to you in your language and she made everything much easier for us. If we return to Liverpool, the Nova Scotia will undoubtedly be the first choice.

First time but not the last. Made a booking and glad I did. The roasts are the best, beef just falls apart, side of scouse was perfect. Would highly recommend coming here. Also this Cherry Bakewell is amazing

Servers were quick to fix errors but portions were small for the price and our order had a number of mistakes including one of the brioche buns coming burnt.

I recently had a delightful breakfast at Nova Scotia, ordering their scrambled eggs and iced tea. Both were exceptionally tasty and well-prepared, exceeding my expectations. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked, and the iced tea was refreshing. What truly stood out, however, was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the dining experience thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend Nova Scotia for a delicious and pleasant meal. (I will definitely recommend to order the club sandwich from my previous visit here that was just amazing)

Could not fault the mains and desserts, however a table of six people got the same amount of sharing platter for staters as a table of 4. Services was shockingly slow, tried to purchase drinks at the bar to be told someone would be over to take the order, another wait. No toilet roll in the ladies W/C and yet there is an inspection check carried out where staff sign to say toilets have been checked! Lamp shades over the tables extremely dusty.

Very poor experience from moment walking in no welcome left to just stand there very little urgency to seat us the front of service left a lot to be desired am not usually one to put any negative feedback but left yesterday unhappy did raise my concerns with a member of the team but didn’t really seem bothered to be honest and that’s the kind of vibe that we both felt yesterday

Came for lunch. Hadn’t booked so was put downstairs were there was poor/little service. Food came before drinks/wine. Frustratingly, the same tables that were upstairs and vacant when we arrived were still vacant when we left. Won’t be returning

Good value for money in a very well located place! The place is very well decorated which creates a pleasant atmosphere. The food was good too, we had the classic fish and chips which did not disappoint!!

The restaurant was very nice and the staff were lovely. The food it's self was delicious and I highly recommend the Beef Sunday Roast. The drinks were great but took a little while to come out. Overall a great experience, great food and decent service. Also pet friendly, was great seeing all the dogs enjoying a Yorkshire pudding.

We walked in and were greeted by a friendly and polite young woman who welcomed us and gave us a choice of any seat to go to. She brought us over water straight away and made some general conversation. The young gentleman behind the bar was also chatting away with us and made us some drinks up which were ice cold. We then ordered food and it was simply superb, not one bite was left on the plates. The whole experience was amazing and we will definitely be back. Can’t commend the staff enough for their service and the chefs for their food.

A nice casual place to get a coffee or a cocktail. The service is friendly and the food is decent. They do a Sunday roast with different options including vegetarian and they're dog friendly so you can visit with the whole family

An amazing tucked away eatery in the Albert Dock. Excellent food choices and really tasty meals. A decent selection of drinks but only offer their own Pilsner Lager, so their claim of real ale is a stretch. The servers are very attentive and helpful too. A beautiful place to chill, and dog friendly which is a huge plus!

Our visit to Liverpool, Nova Scotia, turned into an unforgettable dining experience thanks to a charming Sunday meal that left us delighted. From the moment we walked into the warm, inviting atmosphere, we knew we were in for a treat. We opted for the PS Scotia and the Royal Charter burgers, and let me tell you, they were absolutely delicious—perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Each bite was a testament to the care and creativity of the kitchen staff. To accompany our meal, we tried the winter mocktails, specifically the Dragon Brunch and the Passion Fruit Frizz. Both were refreshing and well-balanced, with the kind of vibrant flavors that brightened the cold season. They added a special touch to our meal, proving that non-alcoholic drinks can be just as exciting as their spirited counterparts. For dessert, we had our hearts set on sticky toffee pudding, but unfortunately, it wasn’t available that day. While it was a small disappointment, it only gave us the perfect excuse to return and try it next time! This visit was an absolute delight, and we’re already looking forward to coming back. If you’re ever in Liverpool, this spot is a must-visit for amazing food, great drinks, and a cozy, welcoming vibe. Highly recommend!

Had dinner here on a Friday night, welcoming staff with a sense of humour, dog friendly, and good food, nicely decorated and clean, a bit noisy at times but that's a minor issue.

Amazing veggie Scouse, warm food (brilliant mocktail) and warm atmosphere located by the gorgeous world famous docks of Liverpool 🥰 what more could you want? 💯🐦‍🔥

Lovely place and lovely staff! Lunch menu didn't start till 1pm which we didn't realise, but there was a nice selection of brunch items, even for the kids!

My husband and I enjoyed a very tasty fish and chips in this lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions were more than adequate. The service was superb. We were given the option of sitting wherever we wanted, much better than being directed to a table. We ordered drinks which were delivered promptly and with a smile. Our food order was delivered quickly by Andrea, very friendly and chatty lady who only added to the relaxed atmosphere. This was probably one of the most relaxing restaurants we have eaten in. The retro tiling on the walls and the decor in general just added to the atmosphere. The cost of the meal was very reasonable, and worth every penny, maybe even more! We didn't take any photos, we were too busy eating. We will definitely call in again next time we visit Liverpool. Thank you Nova Scotia.

Awful service, expected a lot more. Nobody came to take our drinks order we had to ask the wait staff to come over several times. We ordered extra gravy and it never came but it was put onto the receipt. Food was mediocre, potatoes were hard and felt like they’d been microwaved. For a table service restaurant with such good reviews it was a massive let down 👎🏽

Very rude staff we came in at 1240 were barked at that we had 5 mins to order and could only order breakfast. Or wait 20 mins to order lunch. No one bought us a menu for the children. Very hurriedly ordered breakfast. Food was ok but on tiny plates. Try to support independent restaurants so this was disappointing to have this experience. Left after 25 mins. All in all a disappointing experience

We booked a table which we had to wait to be seated as our table was still occupied when we arrived. We ordered are food straight away as we knew we wanted a Roast dinner. We waited 1 hour for our food, the food was under cooked hardly any gravy on. We couldn’t eat it due to being to dry we asked for gravy which we waited another 10 minutes by this time our food was freezing. Just very disappointing as heard so many good things! Will not be returning.

We waited almost 50 minutes for 2 slices of cake and 2 coffees when only half of the tables were occupied and most of them already had food.

Had the Veggie Scouse here. It looked and tasted super good. Spiced a bit like Indian food. Portion is medium => might need some sides to consider it a full lunch.

The place is very nice . The food is a reasonable price. The service is very average because the waiters did not clear our table. But we still like it. The waitresses did walk past the table and saw the dishes but non bothered to clear them they were available to but they didn’t. I ordered a cocktail and the barman kindly removed the dishes in the end. So no tip!

Stopped by for a drink after walking from the Exhibition Centre. It was a warm sunny day on 9 July and we were quickly served by the lovely staff. We sat down inside as it was too warm for us outside. The drinks were very refreshing. But we were the only customers in there. We soon realised why. On an adjacent table was a very loud man with a penetrating voice. He was sitting with a laptop open and using his mobile phone. We quickly finished the first drink and got another. But the loud talk continued. One phone call after another. We upped and left, leaving our unfinished drink and explaining to the staff our reasons... When we are not working and having a drink, we want to enjoy it in a relaxed atmosphere. The staff confirmed the man was the proprietor. I do not want to sit in someone's office with someone so loud that we couldn't even have a conversation. Appalling behaviour. I feel sorry for the staff who were doing their best. We went to Brasco Lounge next door to continue our vacation, where we enjoyed the atmosphere and several more drinks.

Fantastic afternoon tea! Good savoury selection as well as sweet. Most afternoon teas are mainly cakes but this one has fab wraps stuffed full of chicken and bacon and tuna mayo! £15 per head including a hot drink is an absolute bargain. You can opt for the one with fizz for £19 per head. Lovely staff, lovely chilled venue would highly recommend and will definitely be going back!

We used to go to ma boyles regularly, so I've been looking for a chance to go for brunch here. We were pretty early, so service was relaxed (!), with an air of not really caring. I ordered the garden eggs (poached eggs with broccoli, kale, spinach, lime and chilli on sour dough) . The toast wasn't the hearty chunk of bread you'd expect, but I let it go. A few mouthfuls into it, I realised there was no lime. Or spinach. Or broccoli. So, kale and Avo on underwhelming toast... When I asked our surly server where the rest of it was, he took it back to the kitchen only to return reporting there was 'no broccoli or spinach in the building'. Why he wouldn't have said that 50% of the ingredients for a dish would be absent was beyond me. I ordered a replacement of Avo and poached egg on toast, and I swear I could taste the chef's resentment at making it, down to the butter still being cold on the (lacklustre) toast. He then brought the bill with the incorrect items on. We won't be back, which is a shame. Really not the standard I'd expect from this company.

We came in with our black lab and the gave loads of cuddles and got him a water bowl as well so a bowl with treats in it the food was really nice and a good price too

I hosted a private company event at Nova Scotia for clients and had the most pleasant experience. Catrin from the booking team was fantastic to deal with, she made the process so smooth and gave me confidence all my needs and requirements were met. The team on shift on the night of the event, Amy, James and Connie, were so attentive to the guests always made sure everyone had a drink in hand, beautifully laid out the food and helped us set up for the event. During the evening they were able to easily and smoothly accommodate increases to our tab. All in all a perfect venue for a private event with a great team.

Located on the ground floor of an office building, near Eye gallery. Have delicious pastries here.

Lovely food - good service Would recommend !

The food was lovely but took ages to arrive, serving got the first drinks order wrong but was fixed. Be aware whack a service charge on and not told, told the price, i always ask for a receipt and seen a service charge whacked on, but already paid so couldn’t get a refund, ask for a receipt before you pay.

Nice place to grab a bite or a beer if by the docks. Good service and atmosphere. Food I found good, but not stellar, although get the brownie with ice cream!

Never got to try any of the food or drinks. Service was awful. We got in, sat down, spent about 2 mins checking the menu and decided what we wanted. Lay the menus down and waited, and waited, and waited. Both of us went the toilet, had some free water. Nothing. Staff were walking around, joking with people around us. Not one member of staff came over to us. We sat there for 20 minutes, then I thought maybe it’s QR Code, couldn’t find one. Last straw was when one staff member came and took the order of someone she clearly knew and was being friendly with, looked at us, then walked away. So we left and went to Etsu, a place that knows how to do customer service. Won’t go back, staff thanked us on the way out, not sure if that was extremely sarcastic or they were just that bad they thought we had actually enjoyed our time being ignored. Really baffled as the reviews for this place are the reason we went but being ignored by all staff for almost 25 minutes is just rude, it wasn’t packed. Yes we could have approached someone but the customer isn’t meant to do the leg work, if it is an order at the bar kinda place they could have informed us instead of leaving us sitting there. Really don’t know what happened but sadly won’t go back now.

Ducking in to dodge the rain while walking around the Liverpool docklands and found this spot, nice atmosphere, lovely staff and nice food. The added bonus was the great cappuccino, that and the staff is reason enough to come back. I’ve had several cappuccino’s around Liverpool by now and despite the nearly £4 price tag, they’ve been mediocre up to now. Beef brisket loaded fried was very tasty, beef was tender, perfect amount of gravy and the jalapeños added a nice touch of flavour!

The food was good. I ordered a club sandwich and it exactly how I like it, the chips were good too. It's dog friendly which was great. The only thing that could be improved are the loos, there was soapin only one dispenser of two and loo roll in only one stall of 3.

such a nice cozy place close to the main Liverpool’s museums and attractions, perfect for rainy days. food was really good, a bit imbalanced with salt imo but the homemade fries were amazing. i think some things on the menu might be a bit overpriced, but overall prices align well with the rest of the places around. the waiters were so kind and the music in the background was the best for a restful lunch :)

No Christmas atmosphere. Christmas meal wasn't great, roast potatoes and veg weren't cooked.Service wasn't poor but very slow ( even though it was empty). Tables weren't cleared between courses. So disappointed as it had been recommended to us by a food blogger.

We went for breakfast yesterday morning. Asking about gluten-free options we were told that a ‘G’ next to the dishes on the menu identify gluten in the meal. Since the menu is mostly sandwiches and burgers we had to ask if gluten-free bread. Whilst trying to decide on our meal choices, we ordered coffees - a latte and a black Americano with an extra shot (3 shots in total). The Americano tasted like very weak filter coffee. Having asked for a replacement, which wasn’t much better, we decided to go next door to the Brasco Lounge, completely the other end of the spectrum in terms of menu, service, welcome, atmosphere.

Popped in as it was drizzling and had a glass of Rosé. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, saw the menu and decided to book a table to come back for a Sunday roast. Had the chicken, which comes with a side of Scouse and a Yorkshire Pudding. It's like having two dinners on one plate 😊 First time I tried Scouse and it was delicious!! I also had the apple and pear crumble to follow, a big portion too, which was also delicious. Great food, big portions, nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.

Stopped by this afternoon for a relaxing meal when meeting family docked on the Arcadia cruise ship. Actually didn't see this establishment when looking for somewhere suitable to have a leisurely meal and we were going to the place next door which fortunately was very busy and extremely noisy and so we investigated Nova Scotia, so glad we did. We all enjoyed the delicious food and were surprised at the large portions, too much to eat as we were greedy and had starters and mains! Staff were attentive and helpful, food was prepared together and brought out together so nobody was left waiting. The establishment was very clean too and we thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for a lovely dining experience.

Absolute hidden gem, after a walk into town we stopped off here for a few drinks, the Love lane beer was spot on 👌🏻 Service was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble at all, we decided to stay and try one of the roast dinners that looked and smelt amazing, unfortunately we left it too late and they were sold out, totally our fault, we got the scouse & Burger, it was simply amazing, can’t wait to come back here 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

I like this place the food is generally good whether it was delivered or on-site but it’s really frustrating that they do not have a set policy for the Deliveroo app they are constantly showing as closed and have been for the past four weeks. I have even rang on quite a few occasions and asked them to switch on the delivery service but now they taking a break it’s good that they don’t need the extra delivery revenue 🤔☹️
