I don’t know if it’s the best or the worst sausage I have ever eaten.it had veins on it?? Never seen that before? I was thinking about he-man so I lifted my table up and to my absolute amazement I saw a number printed underneath. It read fourteen (6). I asked the bearded waitress what that means and she explained that she was only working there because of the coronavirus had made her cat very fussy and she needed the money for her boyfriend’s electric modem.?? The garden centre itself is ok,I found Father Christmas lurking around a little tipsy with a side of smoked salmon sticking out of his cloak. We purchased a new plant that is now dead,a dog treat for my girlfriend’s mum, some tomato feed for tomatoes and a mouse trap to catch all the rats in my caravan. Very good value and a relatively uneventful day.

was Wyevale and now Dobbies Garden Centre. Has its own restaurant/cafe and alongside a Costa cafe. Coffees and cakes available at both. Restaurant also serves breakfasts, lunches and snacks. Seeing the comments about disappointing food, I would say the following: 1. Arrive early for a main meal as food is prepared in advance and then again as demand increases, and, unless there is a regular demand, some food may be left to dry out under the hot lights 2. Order dishes that have to be prepared or served fresh - like fish and chips or baked potatoes. There are always cakes and teas/coffees available all day. There is an indoor soft play for kids (there's a charge) and you can sit outside when the weather is decent. This place supplies plain food at a competitive price - we have eaten there many times and have been happy at the quality and quantity supplied. It is popular with older customers and groups from businesses and clubs which gives a pointer towards their customer target base. If you are shopping for garden items, its perfect for a coffee and cake.

4 friends having coffee and cake on a Thursday morning. Kids play area out of action (thankgoodness as the noise can be defening). But it was just as noisy from the diners anyway. We could not hear each other speak ! The coffee was nice and the cream scones were alright. I had a slice of carrot cake, which was a little dry. What really brought tears to my eyes was the prices charged ! OWCH ! No we wont be going back there again, which is a shame because 3 years ago is when we first met up to arrange a crafting group to meet in our homes. c'est la vie.

Not sure why it was busy, on offer was dried up lasagne, the worst imaginable sausage roll contrasting a filling the texture of wallpaper paste and a children's offering where the highlight was a half round of chocolate spread sandwich. Coffee and tea ok!! Used to be much better before becoming Dobbies.

Recently visited and chose “Spring lamb cottage pie, served with spring onion mash and seasonal vegetables”. £9.50 What I actually received was a plate of grey slop which appeared to have been thrown onto the plate from a distance by someone who could care less, a small spoonful of dry peas which had I been seen by a passing police officer, I would have been arrested for possessing offensive weapons. No further ‘seasonal’ veg and no spring onion mash. I didn’t expect Raymond Blanc but I did expect something vaguely edible with content that matched the menu description. £9.50 was expensive for a small cafe but it could have been acceptable had quality and content expectations been met. I complained on the Wyvale website explaining the above and requested a refund. After a week and a half I’m still being ignored. The customer service clearly matches the food - disgraceful and leaves a nasty taste in the mouth. However hungry I get in future I would rather eat the spillage on a tramp’s beard. Presumably where Wyvale obtained their culinary inspiration. It was a revolting experience dishonestly executed. Don’t go!!!

I totally agree with what others have said. £4 for a Cornish pastie that was inedible so I took it back and was told I could have a sausage roll instead but that was just as bad. Pastry so thick and hard that it was inedible and hardly any filling. Looking at the menu I could see that everything was overpriced. I don't mind paying the price for quality but this certainly was not. Will go to Beckworth Emporium in future. Not cheap but lovely food and all served with a smile and you don't even have to queue and collect it yourself.

We’ve been visiting this Wyevale for a long time. It shares the same car park as Waitrose and Waves car wash, both of which are excellent. Sadly the garden centre itself is not (excellent). The Northampton Wyevale Garden Centre is part of a large chain owned by a private equity company. It shows. Corporate sameness, outsourced floor space, noticeably high prices and general disinterest in customer service. The last time it bothered to respond to a Trip Advisor Review, for instance, was in March 2016; despite so many of them being (very) critical! It used to be good place to visit and in which to eat....a combination of home cooking, healthy food and good value. That’s not so any more. A sad reflection of a large national company performing poorly.

This seems to be the place where everyone takes their elderly relatives on a Sunday morning probably because nowhere else is open.. They can shop till they drop (almost!) and then sit down and watch the world go by whilst enjoying a cappuccino. Not the cheapest - but a good variety of cakes and nibbles - only drawback is it gets busy......

I visited this restaurant yesterday and requested a bacon sandwich at 11.28 and was told they stopped serving breakfast at 11.30. When I pointed out that it wasn't yet 11.30 they said the kitchen had stopped serving breakfast and wouldn't be prepared to make me a sandwich. There were very few people in the restaurant, there was no one else in the queue, yet they had two assists on the counter doing nothing and a restaurant manager who came out and just repeated the line that they couldn't be bothered to take our order. The attitude of the restaurant manager was very unfriendly, inflexible and rude. If I was her I would be embarrassed to draw my salary at the end of the month. Having seen the other reviews for this restaurant this clearly isn't an isolated incident. The staff clearly seem to think they are there to do things for their own convenience and treat their customers with thinly disguised contempt. I spoke to the General Manager called Dean who said the service we had received was unacceptable and that he would attempt to put things right on our next visit. Unfortunately there won't be a next visit.

Where do I start, let's start with the service! If I could have given it 0/5 I would. The manageress was serving on the till and walked off to talk to customers on a groupon deal! Not very professional when there is massive que and no one to carry on serving. I even had to reach across and get the bottle opener to open my own drinks as the waitress didn't offer when someone finally came to serve. The food was edible and thats all I can really say about it. I had a jacket potato with the smallest amount of chilli I have ever seen and a sprinkle of cheese. I asked specifically for no butter but it arrived covered in butter, good job this is a personal preference and not an allergy. My mum had lasagna but the amount of oregano on top would have been enough for 10 portions. My grandma had fish, chips and inedible mushy peas, the batter was wet and the chips overcooked.£30.45 for drinks and 3 rubbish meals makes it a bad afternoonWe had to ask for fresh glasses as the glasses were still dirty and when we asked if there was any knives, the waitress just looked at us like we from out of space!!! I definitely won't be returning!

Once again we visited this centre for lunch and once again it was diabolical. We ordered a chicken salad sandwich with a side of fries. It arrived on a warm plate and was just dry bread with no butter or spread on it. my daughter was given a coleslaw and cheese jacket with no cheese. I had to ask for the side of fries which had been left on the hotplate. The sandwich and jacket were once again left on the hotplate and my daughter asked if they belonged to us. The sandwich was again presented with no butter or spread but this time with less chicken and just a lot of lettuce. We will not be returning but will visit the public house next door.

It's a garden centre I took my dog She is a handbag dog she was in a bag!! Just so you get the picture , Went to order a coffee was told I couldn't come in ?? No signs to say this I was ordering by bottles of drink and all covered food the kitchen was behind the counter a very large glass counter , she was tucked away , I do understand that other customers do not want to eat next to a dog " even though I'm stopped so much with having a handbag doggie everyone wants to have a cuddle of her , We were intending to sit in the I say in a loose term garden area , but did have to order it first ??? So awkward moment I go out side while my family member think what if like as no menu to take with me just surprise me ?? For being a garden centre the area you eat at was quite shabby lots of fag butts stubbed out now I'd say that's more offensive than my little chihuahua drinks ordered food ordered sat on the small folding chairs with a small table fit for a drink in a grubby section of a out building I didn't put my dog on the floor as it was a fag pit didn't want her eating there rubbish , shame would I bring my dog again no would I sit there again no was food ok yes would have to sit inside , while I was there another dog owner did come and said the same he said he felt embarrassed , I've been to the other wyvale in Northampton they have dog cages and a dog owners section much nicer to visit And more welcoming Your a garden centre you have all the bits there to make your outside section look good you can still sell it put price tags on it like the other one does

My husband and I took his Aunt here on her 70th birthday for lunch as she loves the garden centre. When we got there there, there was a table full of delicious looking cakes, however it was lunchtime and we wanted something a bit more substantial, but something light as we were going out for dinner that evening. We stood looking at the boards for a menu or a specials board or something (anything!) for some inspiration. We just wanted a baguette or a jacket potato or something. There was nothing in the fridges except kids sandwiches and crisps. We must have looked a bit lost as a member of staff rudely asked what we wanted. We were told all that was available was hot food, which didn't look that appetising if i'm honest. She went off and served someone else. My husband delved into the back of one of the fridges and found a cheese baguette and asked for a portion of chips to go with it, and his Aunt and I both settled on a scone each. We got tea and coffee from Costa which is on the other side of the restaurant, as from experience, we know the drinks are pretty dire. We sat down and my husbands chips were brought over to the table while he was still ordering the coffees in Costa. Now, I'm not the sort of person who complains in restaurants but if he was there, he most certainly would have! There must have been about 10 chips in this miniscule dish and we had been charged £2.30 for them!! What a joke! He did go off on one but I told him not to say anything as it was his aunt's birthday and I didn't want to spoil it. We frequently visit here, and every time we leave disappointed. The last time we visited they had no hot water so couldn't even make drinks!! I also agree with what others have said about the play area which is not managed at all and most don't pay, when genuine people like us do. I don't know why we don't just bite the bullet and find another garden centre to visit. That said, the actual garden centre is lovely, and the staff on the checkouts are friendly and helpful. If only the customer service would extend to the restaurant staff - some of which clearly have had no training whatsoever.

We were unfortunate enough to go here on Tuesday as my son in law wanted to purchase plants. Whilst he was doing that my young grandson went into the play area,we had payed l might add. There were children in there who's parents hadn't paid and like other reviewers say if this is not going to be managed why does a few if us have to support the tight ones who don't pay! My grandson wanted a go on the tractor ride so l gave him his £1 and off he went. Joke or what the ride wasn't working, no sign up to this fact or the ride bring unplugged. I approached a member of the restaurant staff who quite frankly, in my opinion, was a jobsworth. I knew I was in trouble when the first thing she said was, 'it's nothing to do with the restaurant', not 'I'm sorry but l will try and help you. I think a customer service course might be in order for this member of staff who l might add was very unhelpful and very very unprofessional to another young customer who was also requiring help and understanding. I did contact the customer service staff about the broken ride and l must say they couldn't have been more helpful and very professional. If you are working with members of the general public lm afraid you must remember to act in a kind, considerate and professional way, something which this member of the restaurant staff clearly does not understand. However l will say this unfortunate incident will not put me off visiting this lovely garden centre again but l will stay well clear of the children's play area and the restaurant.

There is a lovely play centre here which unfortunately us very poorly supervised. Considering it is £3 per child for 1 hour and the food and drinks for parents are seriously overpriced I am surprised that the management doesn't pay someone to supervise! Overcrowded by kids who have t even paid to enter. Kids as old as 12 or 14 are allowed to run riot. When we were there our 4 year old was smacked in the face by a very large older child with no band on and refused to play anymore. When I complained a lovely staff member went to the play centre and asked to see bands. All but 2 kids piled out as had t paid. However within 2 mins of staff member leaving the place was jammed again. The only other child that had paid was a 1 year old who was also injured by the larger kids. Come on Wyevale! An hour out at your venue cost us neatly £20 for our child to get injured and cold food!!

A disappointing experience. Bought the spring tea deal on groupon. Checked on website that all was in hand but on arrival was told that due to staffing it was not happening and we had to go for something else. Staff - some were helpful and some plain rude. Asked for a duty manager. Was first told that the manager was not there, then the duty manager stood right in front of me. She was great and very helpful; however we had to settle for very oily batterer fish. We were the approached by a youngster working there who rudely looked at us with her hand on her hip defiantly stating 'How was it!' Apart from the duty manager who was helpful the entire experience became very unpleasant and very disappointing. It defies the whole purpose of a promotion and left us with the view that we won't travel 40 miles to visit in future and look at local garden centres with friendly staff instead! Took my elderly mother for a midweek lunch and ordered soup for myself and a child's portion of fish and chips for my mum. Arrived at 12 noon while it wasn't very busy and waited nearly 40 minutes before the food was served by which time our tea was getting cold and stewed. This wouldn't have been bad if it had been worth waiting for but sadly to say the fish, if you could find it in the overcooked batter, wasn't. Despite pointing out to the young waitress that it looked burnt she did nothing about it so after she left I cut into the batter to see what it was like inside but all you could see was a thin layer of fish which you couldn't even scrape off the batter. I took the plate of food back to show the staff and asked if it should be like that and a cook from the kitchen said it shouldn't and cooked another one which was served within 10 minutes. This time the batter was golden and light and full of succulent fish which thankfully my mother enjoyed. I feel unimpressed with the whole experience as clearly the food should not have been served by the staff in the first place which would have avoided the whole situation. Apart from an apology from the same waitress after the meal was served the second time we were not offered any fresh drinks or anything to compensate the long wait and inconvenience which makes you think they do not care about their customers. We have been to the restaurant before and enjoyed the food but this experience has put us off of going again. I have since contacted the garden centre by e mail but so far no one has bothered to respond which speaks volumes.

We visited the restaurant (cafe more like) in the Northampton Wyvale Garden Centre on 6 July around 3. Just wanting a quick bite, I opted for the brie, bacon and spinach sandwich on brown bread at £4.40. My partner went for a jacket potato with goats cheese, bacon and pine nuts. What a disappointment, the sandwich, although warm, was literally 2 slices of cheap bread with very little filling. The potato was very small and again, not a lot of filling, and the bacon bits were so small, they hid quite easily in amongst the potato.Along with a latte, a bill of over £12 is really not on. Come on Wyvale, do better with your snacks. We have to say the main meals looked really quite good, hot and plentiful, especially the fish n chips - and a voucher for 2 main meals for a tenner looked good value. There were some very shrivelled-looking pies that turned out to be chicken & leek - but none of the advertised steak & mushroom. We opted for soup as the least inedible option, which came in cold bowls on a red-hot plate. The soup was actually quite tasty. We struggled to find a table that was not covered with dirty crockery, but while we were eating, a lad whose duties appeared to involve table-clearing gathered up my friend's crutch which had been parked out of the way on the window sill, and was in the process of spiriting it away to the kitchen before he was stopped. Unfortunately this seemed to wear him out, as we counted 13 tables still covered with detritus while he gossiped in the kitchen. Off to Waitrose for free coffee!

Haven't been in this Garden centre in many years but a rainy day took my wife and I north from our home to pass some time and wish we hadn't.Do wish we had looked at Tripadvisor before leaving as it could have saved us a terrible experience. The restaurant is located inside the centre and it was pretty busy when we arrived. Sunday roast was on and having looked at what was on offer, it was anything but appetising and the accompanying veg looked like they had been under the heat lamps for too long as they were dried up and certainly off putting to say the least. The empty tables were loaded with dirty dishes and no trays to be found so we really should have left. With a Waitrose next door, we probably would have had a better service but heck, we were here and a sandwich and soup couldn't be a problem - could in?You Judge. With only 4 plates on the chiller, I chose the wrapped Tuna Sandwich on white bread with a small salad of leaves, cherry tomato and 2 slice of cucumber and my wife opted for the Mushroom soup.Asking one of the young staff for some trays, she gave a big smile and went to get them, interrupting the preparation of some salads which I think were for replenishment of the nearly empty chiller. Very quickly, she reappeared with a quantity of trays, positioned them on a shelf, lifted one off and brought it to me - impressive and good service.Moving through the queue and making payment, my wife had found an empty table, empty that is of people but requiring the decanting of the heap of crockery and cutlery to a nearby table which was groaning with an increasing amount of items cleared from neighbouring tables. My sandwich was packed with Tuna but the white bread was beginning to go hard and the filling wasn't quite as bright as I would have expected. Not particularly tasty and the salad which had been under a clear plastic clingfilm now looked 'tired' and less than fresh. When my wife's soup was delivered it was thick like porridge, cool is places and steaming in others - clearly microwaved and not properly stirred. We, by this time, were resigned to the fact that the reason was a busy day and we had been unfortunate but at a total price of over £12 the service, food and experience was an expensive one.To crown it all, when tidying up the table once we had finished, I found that there was a label on the sandwich covering (Which I hadn't noticed when lifting it) was a day out of date - yesterday's production and not fresh today. Suddenly I realised that it hadn't been poor quality bread but poor quality management control over the product line and had me wondering if the 'lumpy porridge' which posed as mushroom soup wasv'out of day' too. Drawing the matter to the attention of the guy who was clearing the tables, I received an apology which was delivered in a sincere way and a promise that he would draw it to his manager's attention immediately.Leaving the restaurant, I had a look at the remaining 3 sandwich platters in the chiller and noted that two had 'Monday' on the sticker with the third bearing no sticker whatsoever. Whether the stickers refer to Best Before or a Use By it is impossible to say but IMO , it does suggest a less than strict management control is being exercised and does surprise me that they have a 5 under the Food Hygiene Regs unless this doesn't cover the labelling of their food.

As a member of the gardening club, we received a voucher through the post offering two meals for £10. Looking for somewhere to eat on a Sunday lunch time, we remembered the offer and drove over to the garden centre. The restaurant was busy which we were surprised about as the food looked really unappetising. However, as we were already there, we decided to give it a go and ordered a roast lamb dinner & a sausage and butterbean casserole. The lamb was really fatty & grizzly and was being carved by a young lad who had clearly not been trained to cut meat. The vegetables were poorly cooked with sloshy, grey coloured cauliflower. The casserole, whilst quite tasty, was a very small portion and was accompanied by two ice cream scoops of what appeared to be reconstituted potato. We also bought two small bottles of Pepsi and were given a bottle opener to take the top off ourselves. When we asked for a glass we were told, by an unhappy looking member of staff, that we could only have a paper cup. When we went to sit down, the sloppy service continued with tables covered in food remnants.Whilst we still enjoy walking around this garden centre and shopping in the concessions within it, the restaurant has deteriated hugely over recent years. Previously, this restaurant had an excellent reputation for providing good quality, well priced food in generous proportions. This is no longer the case. In future, we will just stick to having a cup of tea in the adjacent Costa.

My wife, daughter and I decided to have lunch here. On arriving I went to find a table, although the restaurant was reasonably steady, I struggled to find a table that wasn't littered with dirty crockery. having managed to clear a table myself, we then waited a considerable amount of time, and I mean considerable, for our meal to be served. We had all decided on the fish and chips. While waiting, my wife noticed that some of the fish had arrived from the kitchen but had been returned as 'not to temperature'.My wife took particular notice of this as we had previously ran our own restaurants. Undeterred we consumed our meal and left. My daughter that afternoon was ill and I followed suit the next morning. The common denominator was this meal.Needless to say we will not be hurrying back.

Offer until end October. Scone, jam and cream for 2. Told to help ourselves from buffet but only one scone available with a fly on it! Till Assistant provided the scones somewhat grudgingly. Once seated we found that there was no milk provided and one of the cups was dirty. The cream was served in a cup. We asked for an extra pot of hot water (the tea pots were so very small) but the Till Assistant said there were not enough pots and would a tall glass be ok! We are not thinking of returning.

The wyevale centre has had a make over since we last came here and it was very good again. A fine centre selling a lot of items as well as gardening ideas. There is a nearby Waitrose which is handy for shopping too. The staff were helpful too and being a member you get discount as well. Well laid out too.

I had a buy-one-get-one-free voucher for a main meal, from belonging to their gardening club. We both had fish and chips, it was average. Not horrible, not WOW. The plants are always well displayed and look healthy.......But! If you want china dogs, shoes or "Fun" name beers, this is the place for you! The amount of non garden stuff is amazing! Tins of travel sweets? yep! Casual clothing? yep! Random books about cupcakes? ohhhh yes! Huge play area with screaming kids, wanting to go to the toilet every 2 mins? Afraid so. There is also a Waitrose in the carpark! as well as a camping shop, and a pool place. The only real issue I have with the place is the amount of charity collectors who lurk in the entrance, and seem quite happy to butt into your conversation or block your way. There are many worthy charities to donate too and I don't want to share my choices with someone I don't know in a vestibule. I thought you had to approach the "chugger", not the other way round.

The Restaurant offers a good selection of food, also smaller portions if you are 'over a certain age'. They do a good Jacket Potato with a choice of fillings and garnishes or you can opt for the hot meals but be there quickly or the vegetables begin to shrivel and look rather unappetising. Also you can have tea or coffee and cake should you wish and they offer a fair selection. However I tend to steer clear of plates that are uncovered leaving the scones etc uncovered on a large tale. seems mad, as there are children and of course people with their coughs and sneezes, need I say more? They have a great play area for children which was as far I knew used to be free to use though it could be bedlam at times with all the shrieking children enjoying themselves whilst the parents could relax. This however has changed and I believe there is now a fee and the time is more limited. However part of the fee goes to a charity so you can entertain your children and support a charity too. You can also have a children's party and tables in the restaurant will be decorated for you and you can include the play area as part of your party. You can get a good cup of coffee or tea, and they offer spcialised tea such as Tregothan Tea which is an English Tea and worthy going out of the way for. I just wished they stocked it as they have a great area containing things from biscuits, jams and even beers at times. They have an ever extending gift department with glassware and china such as Port Merion and other concessions such as Cotton Traders, Roman Fashions and Edinburgh Woollen Mill to name a few. There is also an aquatic department too.So what started off as a review for a Restaurant turns into a shopping expedition but luckily the restaurant has a large seating capacity which now encompasses what used to be the Costa Coffee cafe. A sad loss if you like Costa Coffee, even though they do offer coffee at the restaurant. You can also be a member of the garden centre which gives you little perks now and again, like an offer on afternoon tea when it was the Queen's Jubilee last year. Very good indeed. If you become a member you collect points on a card and then get vouchers at certain times of the year to spend at the garden centre. They also have members only offers on plants, a very good idea to join of course. They have displays and events from time to time like a Fuschia show, evening talks on Roses and sometimes they give double points during an event. There is one event in the restaurant that makes it worthwhile if you have children and that is the Breakfast with Santa, now who could resist that? Also, and here we get back to the Restaurant again, you can get there early and indulge yourself in a good value English Breakfast. There is plenty of parking space and if you so desire you can have your car washed whilst you have your lunch. Now you don't get that everywhere!

Absolutely horrible place. Now I understand that it is a Morrisons cafe so we really were not expecting high quality food and oh my gosh did we get a disappointment and a half. First of all we order on the machine which was fine we sat down with the number and then a staff member came over to us and told us to wait there he will come with our drinks, not even a mintue later another staff member came over and told us a completely different thing they told us to go get any drinks we want and do it our self’s, well we couldn’t do it ourselves because there was no cups. Next problem we ordered a meatball sub and then we were told they had non well first of all why is it still available on the machine if u don’t have it why offer it and then have to change what u want, they basically said you have to choose something from here but we can’t heat it up even tho what’s why we chose the meatball sub because it was a hot option. The food came and pretty much everything was cold except one dish. They forgot things on our order and didn’t even say sorry for not having things that we ordered. The tables were dirty and they just didn’t seem like they cared or knew what they were doing. DO NOT RECOMMEND to anyone even just for a drink !!!!

Upon arriving there weren’t many people in the restaurant. We ordered 2 portions of mac and cheese, a child’s chicken nuggets and chips and a cold sandwich. All the hot food was stone cold. I spent 10 minutes searching through the utensils pot to try and find a clean set. The hot drinks from the hot machine were cold and the mugs were dirty. The staff were rude and when giving them our dirty plates he slammed them down on the table and walked away. Overall, not worth it, never coming back

Had a great lunch at Britannia which is a little gem on the edge of Northampton. Service was great, the food came out hot, in good time & you could tell it was freshly prepared. Portion sizes mean you won't leave on an empty stomach but there is still space for something after and we managed to grab a table by one of the fires. Will definitely be visiting again and getting a Sunday lunch booked in!
