North Laine Brewhouse in Brighton and Hove

Visited a couple of weeks back on a Friday night and was very impressed by the atmosphere and decoration. As soon as you enter the North Laine Brewhouse everything feels very premium and trendy with large metal sculptures, an ice cream truck food bar and loud music, I wouldn’t question you if you told me it was in the heart of London. As lovely as this trendy london feel is, it unfortunately comes with the trendy London prices with their cheapest cider coming up to the £7 mark. If they offered student discount on this I feel it would have been ok for me but I was informed that they don’t do student discount on weekends. It’s a great experience to go for a drink here (if you’re looking for pre-drinks before heading to the club this place is for you) but sadly due to the pricing I’m unlikely to return- that is at least on a weekend as I am yet to experience their food and student prices. Overall, this pub is great if you’re looking for a trendy London feel and something a bit more unique than your classic British pub. Just be prepared to pay London prices.

Great brewery with plenty of in house IPAs! Sonar is a great IPA choice! The venue is cozy and offers a table tennis with no charge!!

A brewpub serving mostly modern ales. The locally brewed ales are really good. Don't expect traditional ones, though. The food is the typical pub grub. The burger was OK. The place is very spacious. There's a ping pong table and darts inside. The staff is very friendly.

I love this pub! Always good vibes with games, DJs and the staff are super friendly and quick 🙌 plus the kitchen is so good! I’d recommend the bacon and cheese loaded fries

On a little pub crawl !..just visited this lovely place..my partner enjoyed his beer. As i was off to shop I'd like to thank the lovely team member for the best virgin bloody mary..i will be back for the vodka

their inhouse craftbeers are top and the location is great. food (burgers) was also excellent, only the music could have been a little quieter in the afternoon 😝

I had a bar tender Sadie, they were so lovely about all the beers and food when I was particularly fussy about what I wanted but had loads of patience! Will definitely be coming again when next in Brighton with friends and family

The beef roast blew my mind, get the beef croquettes, very creative chef who obviously cares about the food. 10/10 would roast again.

Came in on a Sunday for dinner and I had the bbq garlic and caper butter cabbage which was a special as they had run out of the veggie wellington and it was the best thing I’ve ever had on a roast! As a veggie I get a bit sick of having meat substitutes on roasts so this was super fresh and new and tasted amazing and was the star of the meal. The yorkies take second place they were so big and crispy! It was a great vibe in the pub and the staff were super lovely and helpful when it came to choosing drinks, and they had loads of beer options which are brewed on site for other beer fans! 10/10 food and vibes will defo be back

We attended a brew tour with Willow, they were very knowledgeable and pitched the information well to each guest. Willow was entertaining and made it a fun experience. A great asset to your team.

Great Pub, Great Roast, Great Vibes

Incredible bar, popped in on my mates stag do and it's a welcoming vibe. Idk if they always play classic rock but it was a lovely surprise. Recommend to anyone. Willow is a credit to your business.

We had a wonderful Sunday mother's day lunch cooked to perfection and served with joy and care. Loved it.

All our food was absolutely delicious! We had both meat and vegetarian options, both looked and tasted great! Would highly recommend the beef and pork belly and getting the pigs in blankets as an extra. The cauliflower croquettes are also amazing and really nice and cheesy. We will be back!

Came in to have a roast since hearing of the new head chef, must say it’s the best roast I’ve had in a long time. Beef was tender and the whole meal was delicious, paired with a Guinness it was the perfect way to top off the week. 10/10 compliments to the chef

We went to the drag brunch which was fantastic! The breakfast- waffles and bacon with syrup- was delicious and there were other options to choose from. The service was excellent- all the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The entertainment was great and we loved the general atmosphere in the pub too. We would definitely visit this pub again!

Waited 45 mins for my food to come before they told me I’d only get half my order and have to wait for the rest. Then was told they wouldn’t be able to make the rest of my order. They remade something else which was tasty but all together 1.5hr wait for my food, wasted my time in Brighton. The beer was tasty. The staff were insincere (was offered a free drink but I had wasted too long and wanted to leave)

It was a lovely time the store was clean and the atmosphere was lovely as well the staff were super helpful and polite overall 10 out 10 and the ping pong was great two as well as it been not to expensive

Superb place with amazing staff. Disabled toilets relatively easy to access though if you have a large mobility scooter or wheelchair that takes a wide turning radius MIGHT be a problem, however, staff are always really helpful regarding this. I've been there when it's been really busy and staff and patrons alike have helped. Friendly atmosphere and a regular local for us. Disabled person review.

The beer here is great. Stay away from the food. It was terrible - sour ! I can't ever remember havi g a sour meal - now I have that experience

We went into North Laine today for a lovely Sunday roast and a drink- one of us had the roast beef and I had the nut roast, both of which were amazing! The bartender Edy was really helpful in talking us through all the menu options and they were very accommodating for a vegetarian diet. The food came very quickly and was a really good sized portion. The star of the show was the roast potatoes but all of the food was amazing and we had a really great time. A special thank you to the lovely manager Hattie who was absolutely wonderful. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and good music. Thank you North Laine!

Amazing Sunday roast today. Omnis and vegans both very happy and full. Large portions, crispy potatoes and lots of thick gravy - what more could you want?

Came for a roast on the Sunday. Lovely vibe in the pub. All of the staff are happy and friendly and very attentive. The roast itself was hands down the best ever roast I have had to pleasure of eating. I had the beef. Every single component of the roast was cooked to perfection which is a complete rarity. The new chef has put so much love and soul into the food and it real out shows. I will be visiting again.

Good beer, friendly service. Beer may not be cheap but is good and well with the price.

Came with friends for a Sunday roast this afternoon and my gosh it was incredible! The cauli cheese ball and the beef were the highlight! And the service from Tilly, Noko and the person with the hat who’s name I didn’t catch, was exceptional we are coming back tonight for open mic!

the food was excellent, really generous and great presentation compared to previous visits awhile ago, and the staff were on it making sure we had plenty of sauces and gravy etc. Also brought a bowl of water over for our dog without asking. Great Sunday pub trip!

Serving and brewing the worse beer in Sussex. A pure Greedhead chain of pubs forcing their overpriced inferior brew on us. For hipsters and people that don't know any better. Awful service. I won't make that mistake again. Avoid at your pleasure. So many superior pubs instead, that serve some of the best beers in the country.

Went to North Laine with friends for an incredible Sunday roast. One of the best roasts around, the quality and portions were amazing for such good value! A lovely brew house with amazing staff, amazing drinks and incredible food. Worth the visit every time!

We popped in here for a drink and got excellent service from friendly and knowledgable bar staff. We tried a couple of tasters of beers before settling on our order. Felt like a better experience than when I was last there... For what it's worth ...the other people on their breakfast and drinks deal all seemed to be having a good time at midday on a Saturday.

Lovely Sunday lunch, three meat eaters and a vegan. All of us well looked after and well fed! The staff were very friendly and very approachable- all round a lovely experience

Fab Friday night out with friends. Great atmosphere, such lovely friendly staff. Food arrived quickly, we ordered a variety of things off the menu and it was all delicious!

Everyone sitting outside because the music is so stupidly loud. This pub thinks it’s a club. Further, toilets are disgusting, have been to nicer festival toilets. Beer selection is pretty good to be fair.

Booked a table in advance for after the brighton half marathon. We were told to wait for 30mins to order as the kitchen was busy. After 30mins were told that we'd have to wait a further hour with no guarantee of food as they were running out. Understand things get busy but the very least you could do is ensure bookings get served food! Left after 1hr 15mins hungry and frustrated

Booked lunch with a little trepidation having read the reviews - they are so mixed it is hard to get a real feel for The Amsterdam which over the years has had a good and bad reputation - so, when in doubt, go and try yourself! The Amsterdam has undergone some great renovations and the whole Inn has definitely had a good face lift. Was pleasantly surprised to see the car park full, always a good sign! The staff and young and friendly and the ones looking after us certainly had a good attitude. There are various menus from pub snacks, bar snacks to a full menu. We all chose from the full menu and could not fault the food at all - nicely presently, good portions and well priced. Pleasantly surprised (in a good way!) at the price of the wine! All in all a very good lunch set in delightful surroundings - pleased we chose to find out if the reviews were right!

Visited with a group of friends for the first time yesterday and was served by Lisa at the bar who was really friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time, her customer service was 10/10, will definitely be returning!

Had the vegan roast and it was surprisingly great! I’m always sceptical to vegan roasts as mostly very average but the vegan turkey was a 10/10. Would definitely recommend this to any fellow vegans. It’s a new menu! Matt and Lisa were particularly great! Will definitely be coming back

Filthy toilets - gents was out of action and shared ladies was a disgrace. A ruined start to an evening out.

Ordered food waited an hour and half it arrived freezing cold sent back, was then told only option was a refund as they were no longer doing food! Would not recommend to anyone !

A Sunday in December and there are about 20 beers on offer but not a single dark beer apart from Guinness, was hoping for something a bit more seasonal and interesting from a brewhouse.

Food was slow, cold & burnt. Manager was very rude - we were refused a refund because “4 tables have already asked for a refund today”. Used to be great, very disappointed & won’t be returning.

Went in the other day for one drink with my boyfriend and came out £50 down, my brand new trousers got absolutely covered in white paint that didn’t wash out, no wet paint signs anywhere and I’ve notified them with no apology or compensation. Also rude staff. Wouldn’t recommend :(

Went to watch a world cup game as advertised, techno music at full blast couldn't hear a think. We've been told several times the sound was going to be lowered for the match, but it was just a lie. We were given plastic cups. That's why England will never win a world cup or euros again

Laughable service, lack of beers on tap, Toilet is terrible. The north Laine promised to play World Cup games with sound but instead play the music loud as they possibly can. Im watching the first half of the game and going to some place else after.

01/12/22 was the worst service I've ever had in a bar. 10 people waiting while the servers do nothing, take a sip of water and just generally make a fool of me. Makes me and all my friends not want to come back.

With speakers outside playing loud music well into the night...clearly not a business thats cares about its neighbours.

A pleasant pub with a nice selection of beer. So noisy you can't hear the people next to you and bar staff that are some of the slowest servers I've ever encountered, nice enough, just very inattentive choosing to chat and replenish already full racks while customers wait to be served.

Popped in on a stag do pub crawl, it was one of the first places we visited, and I'm glad we came early on as it was already fairly busy around 3pm. Huge selection of drinks, quite a lot of them being craft beers, very good if you like an IPA. There is table tennis available to play too, just rent out the paddles and ping pong balls for £10 an hour. Surprisingly good fun when you have a few drinks in you. I didn't try the food which seems to be what other people have complained about on here, but the staff were very polite and friendly.

Stopped Sunday for a Roast . £15 for roast beef and vegetables. Season veg and roast potatoes. Good portion and tasted lovely gutted no extra portion of cauliflower cheese but was after 3pm . Definitely need to try if in the area

the pub opened at noon, we went in, the kitchen opened at 12.30, we waited half an hour for two sundey roasts (one vegetarian and one meat) not presentable. the Veggie Wellington pasta was raw, as was the broccoli. the meat was not smoked and was very hard, the whole was suffering from a ton of gravy (very cheap, certainly in powder) which did not improve the situation. a dish without love with a bad presentation and no taste. we were very disappointed....after lunch we both felt sick with belly cramps....

Staff are funny and friendly, drinks are varied and delicious (especially the cocktails) but food is not as good as the menu would suggest. Burnt ends were nice but the meat / mac and cheese could have been better. Great spot for drinks and socialising at the weekend, but maybe look elsewhere for dinner!

This place is wonderful and makes Brighton even better! I did the brewery tour, lead by Joe, and it was great! Joe is so incredibly knowledgeable and his passion for all things brewing is great! and not to mention, such a friendly, warm aura. And of course, incredible drinks and a lovely environment!

Really nice lively pub who did a great job organising our large group event. Communication was excellent and everyone loved the buffet they put on for us.
