North Kessock Hotel - Restaurant Cuisine in Highland

Had a fantastic meal here with my husband. We had the crab claw salad and scallops for starter, both were delicious, followed by the halibut for both of us(recommended by the waiting staff) it was such a great dish, perfect portion size. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The place was busy and has a great atmosphere.

Table visibly dirty, waitress saw me cleaning the place in front of me however did not offer to clean the rest of the table! Long wait for food, noticed two tables who came in after us had their food served 1st. No apology for the hour long wait. Owner guy rude, he asked if we needed anything else. I asked for salt and vinegar, he replied salt on the table and walked off! Still waiting for my vinegar... very small and not that tasty chicken supreme. Very disappointing as had been here several times before but will not be going back. You really need to up your game guys if you want to charge £24.95 for basically a chicken breast with minimal veg and potato. A tourist trap rip off. BTW, if you are ordering a sauce for your steak it will come in a tiny jug. See picture below

We ate twice in this restaurant, whilst staying in the hotel. The menu has quite a wide choice, although we felt the prices were a little high. The staff were very friendly and also helpful with accommodating dietary requirements. The food portions were certainly plentiful, and great quality. Service tended to be quite quick and to a good standard. The restaurant was busy on both nights, and from our experience we could understand why others chose to eat here..

We have been here several times and we are never disappointed. Excellent food and service as always. A lovely out door area too just a pity about the weather.

We were treated to a wonderful lunch here. The soup of the day, tomato and roasted red pepper, was excellent. Be sure to save room for the BEST EVER sticky toffee pudding. It was amazing. We would happily return here for a great meal and friendly service.

We ate two meals at the North Kessock Hotel Restaurant while visiting Scotland this past April, and what a lovely experience! The produce was fresh and the most simple dishes were prepared so well that they were surprisingly wonderful. For instance, at our first visit, I had chicken fillets. These strips of white meat were breaded and crisply fried to perfection such that the meat was juicy and tender. This was served with fresh English peas that were steamed, of perfect texture and consistency. They were maybe the best English peas I have ever eaten. Another of our party ordered toffee pudding for desert, again, perfectly executed. On our return visit, again we were impressed by the freshness of the products and the execution of the dishes. The star of this meal was a scallop salad executed with green apples and cauliflower purée. What a wonderful surprise ! The service is a fantastic, too! On Sundays you will need a reservation.

We found this gem of a hotel last November and had been searching for somewhere new for Sunday lunch. We’ve been back just about every Sunday since then. The food is fantastic and consistently so. That’s why we keep going back! All of the staff are so warm and welcoming and Darren and his team go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need. The kitchen team deserve special recognition too - the quality of the food is outstanding. I can’t get past the burger - so juicy an tasty. My husband loves everything but his favourite at the moment is the chicken and haggis dish. Oh yes, and just to say we’ve eaten many a sticky toffee pudding but this one is THE best ever. I notice they do steak nights too - now there is a thought for something new to try. Well done to the whole team - just brilliant all round.

Catch up with a friend decided to stop for lunch. Been many times before to this restaurant and it never disappoints the food & service is always very good . Great menu choices at lunchtime you can have a snack or a meal I had a baked potato it was huge with lots of filling and salad on the side 👍

We received a very warm welcome to the restaurant. With two vegans in the party, we got a choice of the additional vegan option from the evening menu as well as the excellent choices on the lunch menu. The parsnip & pear soup and tomato & chilli risotto for starters were very delicious introductions to the high quality of the food at the hotel. Hats off to the chef for producing vegan options which felt like stars of the show rather than token options that you can find elsewhere. Even little details like the cherry tomatoes on the risotto having been smoked were unexpected and delicious surprises. Main courses of baked aubergine with butternut squash & tofu; and the rosti were also excellent. The front of house staff were very attentive, friendly, and little touches like pointing out the one soup for one of our vegans had Flora spread instead of butter just gives you extra confidence that care & attention is being applied from start to finish at this fine establishment. Definitely recommended & we’ll definitely be back to sample more of the atmosphere and great food. Bravo.

Can’t fault food. Large portions of decent Pub grub. Staff pleasant . Only complaint is the 15% surcharge on our bill. Wasn’t pointed out that it was optional. If you just look at & pay the total bill, you could end up paying a tip over & above the surcharge. Also think it’s a bit much asking customers to pay 15% & not the normal 10% surcharge that people pay at most establishments. Proves to me that you should always check the bill before paying.

Food is phenomenal, good quality products and flavours to devour. Polite staff very courteous. Calming ambience and relaxing atmosphere.

Yet again we visited North Kessock Hotel for the first time in a year and yet again the food was excellent!! I had Monk Fish and my husband had Cod and both of us felt we had had the best of the best. The ambience of the restaurant is lovely and, if the weather is good their outside area is fantastic. Well done Darren and Kevin we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

The food was average and very expensive. £5.20 for a tin of Guinness is a disgrace! Would not recommend for young families in this current economic climate.

Visited on Friday night- staff were all excellent while being rushed off their feet! Excellent atmosphere and buzz of the place. We were lucky to sit outside in the sunshine and the staff were very attentive even though they were (maybe?) short staffed. Our drinks arrived quickly, and our order was taken quickly too. The food was sensational when it arrived and we had pudding even though we were so full we could hardly move! I found the food prices to be very reasonable and the experience overall was just fantastic- we will be back!

Where to start…we are returning customers here. Infact if you look on my profile you will see I have left them a very positive review from previously. However we were subjected to the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED!! We called up on Saturday afternoon asking for a table of 5 and they squeezed us in which we really appreciated. We were taking a family member with us as we had had such a lovely meal last time. We arrived 40 mins before our table and asked if we could sit in the bar to have a drink before our meal. We were abruptly told no as we had two kids with us (ages 11&7) while this is fine no where did we see a notice saying this. And we were made to feel very unwelcome due to this. Anyway luckily they had seats outside so no problem sat out and ordered a round. I noticed a lady with a cocktail so asked the member of staff for a cocktail menu and I was told again very abruptly and rudely that he was too busy and that he didn’t have time to make them his attitude was horrendous and again very unwelcoming. The place wasn’t that busy there was only 3 tables with people at them outside. At this point we decided to cancel our table and eat else where. Only for 5 minutes later the same man came over and said which cocktail were we after and that he actually could make us one much to our astonishment. I quickly told him we were going else where. Never in my life have I felt so unwelcome and belittled. I decided to put our hard earned money somewhere else that night and we had a lovely meal where staff actually cared. I really hope this was an off day for them but I probably wont ever eat here or recommend it to anyone again because of my experience which is such a shame as we have recommended this place to many people.

Ate here last night with my husband. The new menu is fantastic. I had a lovely fresh langoustine starter followed by monkfish served with the most amazing sauce. My husband had the scallops with Thai green curry sauce, followed by the pork. All our dishes were delicious. Another great evening with the friendliest of staff and a few wee cocktails too.

I went during Eat Out to Help Out and it was great. Went back for lunch yesterday and it was great again. Wonderful service from a very polite young woman, as well as a gentleman (manager?). Not cheap but we chose expensive items, but they were all delicious. We both had scallops starter, which was tremendous. Will definitely be back. I would highly recommend this place if you want to eat out but are a bit anxious. See you soon. And next time we'll take cash to tip (sorry!).

I have my very elderly in laws staying who have been shielding since the start of the pandemic, before we collected them from their home we also isolated so they would be safe to travel and stay with us.I wanted to give them some safe social interaction but I had tried a few locations and I was not assured that safety was the main concern of the establishments that I had tried.I have been to the North Kessock Hotel a few times over the years and I knew that they had a good external seating area, so we gave it a try.I was very impressed, I could get granny and granddad to a safe seating area without any difficulty. We were attended to by a lovely young women who was wearing appropriate PPE. There was understandable signage in place and our contact details were taken before we could order.I felt extremely comfortable as I could see that the owners of the hotel were taking safety during the pandemic seriously, and I commend them for it.Although we only had drinks, it was a really big boost for them both and there's now talk of a return visit next week for lunch.Well done and thank you!!!

Even in context of Covid Pandemic service was slow. Vegetarian food was very disappointing and meal overall expensive.

This restaurant describes itself as "vegetarian friendly" but it really is not. The choice was very limited and the quality of food poor- our loaf were dried up and tasteless The other veggi choice would have been stir fry, which did not come with either rice or noodles. I voiced my disappointment to the man who seemed to be in charge and he defensively said he had never had any complaints before.It was a waste of money

Decided last minute to attempt 1st meal out since lockdown and WOW, so glad we chose North Kessock Hotel. Food was 1st class and the service was brilliant. Friendly and helpful staff. These times are scary for us all gradually coming out of lockdown and not knowing what to expect and what to do but you were all fab. Thank you for the amazing food and service. We will 100% be back

Visited recently with the family and although the food was good the unpleasant staff just made it a complete let down. They had no manners whatsoever and could barely muster up a smile. I think some training in customer service is needed otherwise you will be losing potential customers that’s for sure! Horrible abrupt staff just ruined the whole experience and made everyone uncomfortable - won’t be returning!

We are glad to stay in this small Hotel. Here is the shortest way also the best. Haut cuisine, high level cooking with a great Showmaster. Sit down and enjoy, nothing more tosay about this.

Went here with family for the 3 course steak deal. What a great deal. Starter was a cream of chicken and sweetcorn soup followed by either a sirloin steak, chicken with haggis or a beer battered fish. Between us see had the steak and chicken meals, both were fantastic. For dessert we had 2 choices , a creme brulee and a fruit pavlova. Again both were delightful and very tasty. The hotel has great parking facilities and nice views off inverness. Would recommend again and will be back.

Top notch food, beautifully presented and excellent friendly service in lovely surroundings. The tempura prawns were fab and the beef fillet was so tasty and just melted in the mouth.

If my family is having a birthday meal, this is where we choose to go. It's consistently good food and service. In a stunning location with plenty of free parking. Can be busy, so best to book ahead of time. Recommend the steak and chips.

We were staying locally and we reserved a table on the day - managed to get an early table. Service was good and the food was lovely - esp the fish and chips. Great atmosphere- had a drink in the bar with some very friendly locals. Would def return.

My husband and I met up with some old friends and really enjoyed a sumptuous dinner last night. I had the monk fish which was exquisite and my spouse had the venison that he pronounced the best he had eaten in the recent past. Our friends had the pork and chicken and saud they enjoyed their mains. 3 if us had dessert and we all enjoyed the cheesecake and white chocolate terrine.The wines were good and reasonably priced. The village if Kessock is a lovely place to visit too. A gem of a place with easy parking near Inverness.

Nice quiet restaurant as we went early, 5.30pm, we had Scallops which were beautiful, followed by an absolutely huge sirloin steak, I’m known for eating all my dinner but I really struggled and had to leave quite a bit of my steak. Price wise, you get what you pay for. The staff were very pleasant. Being Celiac I thought the gluten free menu was one of the best I have ever seen and will definately be back.

My husband, daughter and myself had the pleasure of having lunch at North Kessock Hotel yesterday, 4th August 2019. We sat out enjoying the sunshine, looking over the water. The food was excellent, home made soup, lovely smoked salmon sandwich with all the trimmings, glass of wine for me, cheeky wee whiskey for my husband! Service was first class and friendly. Toilets would put a bespoke hotel to shame! Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant. The hotel bedrooms also look amazing!

Dropped in this afternoon looking for a meal or snack. Flustered women with glasses on walked through from behind the bar & I politely asked if they had a table for 3 for food. This women lifted menus from the bar & in a rude manner informed us that it was only light meals, I smiled & said that was fine. She then asked "inside or out". I said if there was a table outside that be good. The menus were then passed to me & I was told "Well you'll just have to go & look!". Look is exactly what we did, then turned & left. No one likes to be greeted this way so we wont be back!

Our B&B; recommended this restaurant to us. This is absolutely the best meal I've ever had in Scotland.

On our holidays in Scotland we always go to the North Kessock Hotel for a special dinner. The hotel restaurant is situated opposite the old Kessock Ferry slipway and has pleasant outlooks across the Beauly Firth. The menu always has a wide choice of food and tempting specials. The quality of food is very high and imaginative. On this occasion we had beetroot & gin cured salmon and haggis & creamy mustard sauce to start. For mains we had prawns wrapped in ham and pork loin with black pudding fritters. The desserts were very tempting but we were full and finished with coffee and Laphroaig. A very pleasant evening with excellent service and very friendly staff.

Excellent food and service. Felt like we were the only tourists in the place, (which was great!) but welcomed, and well taken care of.

We were recommended the North Kessock Hotel and it certainly didn’t disappoint! The waitresses were welcoming and polite. The food was delicious and well the sticky toffee pudding was to die for!

A bit disappointed with starter of prawns, stated they were greenland prawns in a sweet chilli mayo, could have been tesco value ones and not much taste. Rest of meal was lovely.

If the food had been outstanding, it would have been easy to overlook the awful service. But, they made us feel unwelcome and forgotten from the first to the last moment. No smile, no thank you or you’re welcome, no drinks, it goes on. The food menu looked great and the soup of the day was excellent. Portions were good, but pork was quite overdone and dry. Nothing special about any of it.

Dinner last night and just when you think the food cannot be improved upon the new menu was absolutely superb. Scallops and Pork Belly starter delicious, you see haggis on a menu and think here we go again but the Haggis starter was lovely.

My husband and I went here for lunch today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Great choices on the menu it was hard to choose. In the end we ordered classic fish and chips. Was great, my husband had two pints then I had a cheesecake for dessert and a late. Beautiful! The prices are a tiny bit on the expensive side but we will be returning. Simple menu but everything we had (we ate there three times) was first class. Service was very good.

Warm welcome on reception. Stayed in room 5 which was clean and comfortable with great views of the Kessock bridge and the Moray Firth. In the restaurant my starter: pan fried wood pigeon breast, main: pan seared fillet of salmon, desert: Ice cream... all made to perfection and very tasty. If you want a hotel to chill this is the one as you have no where really to go outwith unless you drive to the city centre.

Waitress had the patience of a saint as we chopped and changed our minds. We were out for lunch and couldn’t decide whether to have a starter and main, main and sweet or just a main. Opted for starter and sweet!

Ate here during an overnight stay for my Birthday. Booking is essential as they get very busy and the reason becomes obvious. All three of us had s starter and main. No issues at all, food and service was excellent.

Whenever I am in Inverness on business I entertain my clients to lunch in this excellent restaurant which is located on the Black Isle. On a nice day one can sit outside. They serve excellent steaks and offer a wide range of beers and wines. Their prices are very reasonable and the service is first class. Should you be in Inverness for whatever reason, this fine restaurant, which is also a hotel, is for you.
