I’ve eaten here quite a few times now and always enjoyed the food (nearly always risotto for me!) but this last occasion was definitely the best so far. A friend, who had not previously visited Nonnas, and I called for a pre-theatre meal and it was superb. We shared a delicious starter of focaccia all’aglio (focaccia with garlic, tomato sauce and mozzarella) before the pair of us opted for the risotto nduja (risotto with crispy prosciutto and shaved parmesan) which was served piping hot and had great flavours that were nicely balanced as well as rice that had the perfect al dente texture. The risotto was served in a bowl and although, at first glance, it didn’t look to be a particularly large portion, it was clearly a generously sized serving because we both came close to being defeated! As well as amazing food that left us stuffed to bursting point, service was excellent, staff were suitably friendly and there was a good atmosphere. An optional service charge of 10% is added to the bill which is fine when you know and don’t make the mistake of leaving a tip as well which has been a bone of contention for me on previous visits. Overall, we had a wonderful meal and, with a bill that came to just over £50, including a caffè latte and said service charge, we were more than happy. We’ll definitely be back!

You cannot describe this as authentic Italian. It focuses on alcohol consumption not culinary expertise. I had seafood pasta and it tasted disgusting. Nothing like it should be and certainly not Italian.

My friend and I meet here about twice a year for a long and delicious lunch. Friendly staff, great service, great food. And it’s authentically Italian.

A friend and I were going to a show at City Hall and called here to eat beforehand. We both had risotto with crumbled goat cheese, beetroot and toasted walnut which was full of flavour, delicious and so filling. It really was gorgeous and, at £16, we definitely had no complaints. I couldn’t eat another morsel but my friend somehow found room for the dark chocolate mousse which came with raspberries and hazelnut praline and, again, the portion size was very generous. Amazingly, she wasn’t defeated either! I did manage a couple of lattes which were extra hot, as requested, and perfect. I didn’t feel that there was much of a welcome when we arrived but service was fine throughout our meal. The toilet was very clean which is always reassuring. However, I can’t give full marks because, as we were leaving the restaurant, we noticed that a sneaky service charge had been added to our bill, which hadn’t been mentioned to us at any point, even when we’d left a tip!

Had a lovely birthday lunch with my son for his 21st. My son is at uni in Sheffield and we’d reserved a table, but arrived very late due to significant traffic problems en route from Manchester. They were very understanding and kept our table for us. It’s our third visit. Lovely service and quality food. It’s a bit pricey, particularly drinks, but you get what you pay for. Hope to visit again before our son graduates this summer.

Mid week. Very busy. Sat for a while, no drinks offered. Eventually stopped a passing waiter and managed to order some. Then ages to wait before someone too our food order. Ages more waiting before food arrived. Food was very good, prices a bit high. It was extremely noisy with so many people and mostly hard surfaces. Not the place for a quiet chat. Staff mostly pleasant and obviously extremely busy. Would suggest they limit bookings relatively to how many staff they have - or employ more.

Had an evening meal here with my boyfriend - food and service amazing, not massively priced, we were sat by the kitchen door but the atmosphere was still lovely, would love to go back soon.

Had lunch for my son’s birthday on 3 February. Food was beautiful and excellent quality. Would definitely return. Prices were quite high but as I mentioned, lovely quality

Service was absolutely excellent. We were greeted with a smile and a handshake as soon as we arrived. The food was beautiful, especially the truffle ravioli. Though I wouldn’t recommend the sharing platters for value for money, nor would I recommend the limoncello cocktail (far too strong!). However, all and all, it was a lovely place to visit for a date night.

I can honestly say hand on heart Nonnas is the best Italian restaurant in Sheffield. I have been countless times with my family, fiancé and child, each time it’s been a brilliant experience. The food is always fantastic and good portions! Staff authentic, charismatic and brilliant. The menu is regularly updated. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Bella atmosfera, locale accogliente con personale sorridente e professionale , ottima cucina con quel tocco di Toscana che non guasta mai… ottima anche la selezioni dei vini . Se andate a Sheffield vi consiglio di provare a fare questa interessante esperienza .

Festive blues had kicked in earlier in the week. I fought admirably to contain my disillusionment with the first rainy grey week of the year....to the point where I was happy to just give in. It's Friday lunchtime and I resolve that I WILL eat out...as a treat for making it through the first week ( 4 days...I know - pathetic!) Got to be a local choice, can't get carried away! A "tiramisu" was required...not the desert, a strong coffee! a "Pick me up" !! The flashing twinkling lights represented kind of a half way house between the glitter of Christmas and a mundane rainy Friday. Good choice. The bar & restaurant were cosy and I was greeted fully and warmly by Sarah & Lutz ( not simultaneously!)...Double expresso consumed I hunkered down to the bigger picture. What would my stringent new years resolutions permit me to eat??? Like selecting a horse to back at Cheltenham I chose tactically, carefully weighing up the pro's & cons. I needed a winner...something to tease me out of this mojo loss. Well dear reader it came along in spades, down the rails with furlongs to spare. The Burrata con Acciughi followed by the indomitable unparalleled Cacciucco all Livornese both romped over the line a country mile ahead of their rivals!! Brilliant. I was in the Winners Enclosure!! I returned to this new year with my head held high, fully satiated with a lovely, fresh and well presented lunch. Late arrival ...a resolution to eat Friday lunch at Nonnas! A truly fabulous " tiara me su"!!

Absolutely fab meal this evening with my partner for his birthday. Super great ambience in the restaurant. Some of the staff were not the most friendly or chatty (however the manager was nice) but the food was exquisite and will 100% be back :)

Very busy Friday night and it was very noisy, had to wait to order food, after the food was served no 5min check was done, and no Parmesan cheese offered to a dish that should have. £38.75 for steak and roast pots is excessive to say the least. The food is very pricey and not good value. But the bill was the last straw we have been several times to Nonnas before and had to pay a £10 deposit to book the table and again this time it was not fully taken off our bill just as it happened in the summer. I have to ask is there a reoccurring problem here ie only taking of £10 in total when we had paid £40 watch your bill, and as if that was bad enough they had also added a £22 tip for service that was poor. I have read other reviews that state about rude manager etc and I have to agree with most of them but do not want to write chapter and verse as I could have about this and other issues.

We went for a coffee at the nonnas 'coffee bar' on a Saturday morning.. it took about 15 minutes to realise we needed to order at the bar even though there was about 6 staff rushing around. When ordering our drinks the staff were barely engaging and we ordered flat whites which were in huge mugs. Don't expect Italian style coffee here. Last time we come - it's overrated for no reason and the service is rubbish.

Generally Nonnas is one of the best Italians in Sheffield. Lovely place, great service we find, and such tasty food. However sometimes it can be inconsistent. Last time we went (also reviewed) the food was just stunning and plentiful. This time, less so. The food was ‘minimalist’ but the prices considerably more hefty than even a few short months ago. This is a real shame as we do love it here. But our mains - between £25 and £40 - were on the small side and we had to order sides for any veg bringing it to a very pricey evening. It’s off putting unfortunately. Despite the small portions and expense, we still really enjoyed our visit and do recommend.

The manager who takes the food orders was so rude. He was very pushy and made ordering the food very stressful. He was so argumentative and arrogant while we were ordering and was actually telling us what we wanted to eat, arguing with us when we told him no we wanted this. The food was bog standard, I ordered the salmon and courgette pasta and it was awful, tasted like a bowl of sea water & not one person round the table liked it. A couple of the younger waiters were really nice, but the whole experience was pretty rubbish.

I feel bad leaving this as can see from all other reviews this place is a generally a nice place to visit. However our experience was not the best. We came after looking at the reviews on both Facebook and elsewhere and feel let down. Initially no one seemed to know if we were booked in, we were and had paid our £20 deposit. Then we were placed on a table right outside the toilet ( which I could understand if it was really busy , at this point it was not) and in this little room separate from the main bar it was sooo cold 😢 I mentioned the temperature to a member of staff after being there a while, who said they would sort it out. It got sorted just as we were leaving. Anyway as we arrived our drinks order was took and then it took 15/20 mins before a waiter finally arrived and said oh I do apologise I thought my colleague was doing your order. We ordered and our starter was not as the pictures looked on fb & online. But we persevered. Mains came and I am gluten free so had specified this. Mine and my partners meals were mixed up and was assured we could just swap as both dishes were gluten free ( this didn’t fill me with hope). Again nothing like the pictures looked. No atmosphere as obviously we were placed in a cold room by the toilet on ourselves and what felt like we had been forgotten. So not a great experience overall. And not somewhere we will return unfortunately. This is nothing major just small things but these are what make or break an experience for us. However the waiter was lovely I didn’t catch his name though.

We visited Nonnas for lunch on a weekday afternoon. The food was nice and came quickly. However, we found the staff to be quite rude and unwelcoming to not only our table but other visitors too. I wouldn't reccomend because the service made our whole table feel awkward.

I was a guest in a family group of 4. Had been told that this place has always been really good. Restaurant is very clean and inviting. Staff are friendly and attentive. Menu is interesting and we all had nice choices to make. Everything than we ordered was excellent. Can recommend without hesitation. Thanks to the staff - front of house and in the kitchen. First visit here after theatre at the Crucible. Very buzzy and lively atmosphere. Greated by lovely staff - I would say, that was the best part of our visit. Three of us had three courses - our starters and desserts were lovely but two of our mains were unedible - mega salt overload which was a shame. However, staff took this off our bill without us having to ask, so they did deal with the problem well. It was very busy but they enough staff to cope who all gave us an excellent service. Such a shame about the excessive salt.

Visited early Monday evening for family celebration. Shown to our pre booked table straight away. Drinks orders were taken. Took up the offer of buy two glasses of wine for the price of one before 7pm (selected wines). The food menu selection was really interesting. The waiter took three attempts to take our order as the choices were so difficult to make. He took it all in his stride. Once taken, our courses arrived in a timely manner and no one was left waiting for a dish. Everything we received was outstanding. Well cooked and well presented. We were in there some 2&1/2 hours we were at no time under any pressure or obligation to leave. Although it got busy as the night progressed it was never noisy. Quite relaxing. All in all we had 2 beers, 6 glasses of wine and a bottle of champagne. Very generous and varied starters. Great tasting main dishes that were of generous sizes. Rounded of with delicious desserts. £301. Sounds a lot maybe? I don't know. We all considered it good value.

Called in on Friday early evening arpund half five on the off chance they had a table. Luckily, they had a table for 2 . Had we left it an hour or so later I think we may have been out of luck. Service was excellent and it felt like being on holiday with Italian being spoken amongst all the staff. Excellent ambience. The food was superb , I had some gorgeous bruscetta and then the lasagne , my wife had the Fritt Misto. Both were well presented and tasted amazing. We would definitely visit again , ALL the staff were attentive, smiley and knowledgeable.

Lovely lunch in Nonnas with our son who is at university in Sheffield. Relaxed atmosphere, fabulous food . We ate from the special lunch menu (any pasta for £12. Great value for money.) We’ll definitely be back again when we come for another visit.

I’ve visited Nonnas four times now; once for dinner and three times for breakfast. Dinner itself I was not impressed by. I had the seafood pasta - the pasta, whether you claim it’s authentic Italian or not, is hard. The seafood wasn’t very tasty/ fresh....

Visiting Sheffield for the night, this was suggested as somewhere to try. It's a popular place to meet and I can see why. Not a big menu but what we had was good. The chicken, something I rarely order these days, was stunning.

Quality, reliable Italian. We had an early evening meal out at Nonna’s.. creamy traditional carbonara with lardons and fresh pasta (gf also available) and I had plaice with fried crispy kale and roast garlic potatoes. Efficient service and airy inside.

My partner and I had a take away for 8.30 this evening!! And let me tell you !!!! Id like to think of myself as a bit of a foodie and my god!! I have never had such a delicious meal that I could eat from home!! We had a tomato garlic bread, two carbonara (Italian style) a rocket side salad and a tiramisu (which is now in the fridge cos we were just too full)!! The bread was 100% homemade and 1000% delicious !! The carbonara was the perfect creamy goodness, with loads of meat (which is rare) And the Parmesan in the salad was SOO delicious and salty!! I’m sure the tiramisu will be delicious also !! When we get to eat it that is so THANK YOU !!! It’s just the pick-me-up we needed, we will be back !!! Order takeaway from Nonnas last night. Picked it up at the back door writhing 25min of ordering. The food looked a little small in the plastic containers but I soon changed my mind when they were spooned onto plates. We had the lasagna, 2 types of risotto and a carbonara. All were excellent! Full of taste and perfectly cooked.

One can’t possibly fathom the depth and complexity of flavour experienced on each and every visit to Nonnas. The Salmon terrine to start was nothing short of sensational, followed by an absolute, melt-in-your-mouth rare piece of fillet steak. As a well travelled gentleman that is very scarcely lost for words, tonight as the caption suggests, I was simply speechless at the quality of food received this evening.Compliments to the chef, absolutely phenomenal.

The food here was nice however we would agree with other comments about the salt. The dishes were nice and cooked really well however my main was very salty which did spoil it for me. A lot less salt would have made it perfect.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime with my son who was up from London, so this was a special occasion. When we first arrived the waitress who greeted us was quite offhand and made us feel that she was doing us a favour by finding us a table. The food took a while to arrive but was nice when we eventually got it, however, the service wasn't great. We waited ages for the bill, and eventually had to go and ask for it, and then had to wait some time for it to arrive. When we paid, we got the same offhand attitude the other waiting staff had, and got the impression they didn't care if we ever came back. I live very close to this restaurant so would have returned if the experience had been more pleasant. As it is, I now walk past most days with no intention of ever going back. Overall, I'd say the food is good, but the service is bad. Only go here if you want to be served by people who think doing their job is beneath them.

Such lovely food, fabulous service, staff very helpful and polite. We came here after a terrible experience at the Prince of Wales and this place turned our evening from a terrible one into a fantastic one. Thank you nonnas team.
