¡Planeo volver a Noize!

It is hard to overstate how terrific this restaurant is. The food is exquisite, the wine list spectacular, their corkage policy is wonderful, the service is second to none. I would point out that you may have to wait a little while for your food as everything is freshly cooked and wonderfully presented. I have been a few times and the couple who run the restaurant feel like good friends already. My only (and very selfish) concern in writing this review, is that I don't want the restauran to become toooooo popular.

I've enjoyed my previous visits here and as I work very nearby, Noize was my choice for a colleagues night out - a "posh" dinner to celebrate some promotions etc., unfortunately at my expense! My experience was very much like recent visits. Friendly welcome, attentive service, and very good food indeed. I had a quail starter which may have been the best quail I've ever had - it was certainly one of the best. My Iberico pork pluma + belly main was excellent (a choice for several of the table). I do like their take on desserts, in that many are offered with a glass of something to help it go down, Malmsey in my case. All in all, a very good night out and a perfect venue for that somewhat "posh" dinner to celebrate with colleagues. Perhaps the best bit was that the bill wasn't quite as high as I'd been anticipating (some of my friends were - thankfully - restrained). Noize is hardly cheap but it is reliable and the food very well prepared, not something I can say about many central London restaurants.

Getting exasperated by progressively more exorbitant pricing and 15% + service charges (20% at Sola!), we ended up at Noize thanks to Andy Hayler's reviews. Why have we not been here before - I work 5 minutes away?! Small, friendly, very pleasant upstairs dining room. The menu of the day is displayed charmingly on a chair placed next to your table. This was very good, solid, food - nothing flashy but very expertly prepared indeed. My wife's crab cake was the best either of us had ever tasted (and that includes Pierre Koffman's!). Only criticisms (and these were minor) was that the burnt onion puree that came with my delicious beef short rib was pretty scant, and the "Mac 'n' cheese" side was nice enough but I thought there were better options to partner the lovely beef? That may just be me as I'm not a fan of meat and pasta together. Big wine list and, unusually, the mark-ups weren't crazy (I buy fine wine at auction so know what the stuff costs), especially by London standards. Service couldn't be described as lightening fast, but this seems to be a relatively small operation, and we were enjoying ourselves so didn't mind. Overall, we enjoyed our visit a lot and, although this is hardly "cheap", the price was very reasonable indeed given that competition is pricing itself further and further away from "everyday" diners....and thankfully, service was 12.5%. We will definitely be back, and probably pretty soon.

Mathieu and his team are fantastic. The welcome is always warm and the service good. The dishes are unique and always delicious. This restaurant is popular in the wine trade, has an excellent wine list and (I believe) very much welcomes customers to bring their own bottles for a fair corkage rate. I have dined here circa 10 times and never had a meal that wasn't memorable in a good way. Hopefully the fact it was busy on a cold January Tuesday evening is a testament to the quality they are displaying. On this most recent trip, I asked in advance (though very last minute) if it would be possible to have a main dish prepared outside of the menu items, which was delivered with no fuss and very much appreciated.

This chef owned restaurant offers excellent food at a very good price. It was recommended to us by a friend who is both French and a sommelier. It's not that easy to find genuine French food at a reasonable price in central London, but this is a gem. I said "genuine French" not to imply the usual old warhorses, but the sort of fresh, inventive food that an imaginative French chef serves up. The menu changes frequently depending on what's in season, but the delectable gougeres are always on offer. On our last visit I thoroughly enjoyed the warmed smoked haddock starter, served with lime chutney and an onion bhaji that added a wonderful chewy crunch. On a previous visit, I had the delectable partridge with stuffed cabbage, so this time I went for the loin of venison with red wine/walnut sauce, served with potato pancake and haricots verts, which was scrumptious and much better than the venison I had recently at a famous and pricey restaurant in Mayfair. My husband loved the roasted plaice with mussels, bok choy, and harissa. We're not dessert people, but they look luscious. The wine list is very good and not overpriced. The service is attentive and genial. The room is very comfortable, though I would recommend reserving a table upstairs. Reservations are a must. This place has lots of regulars. You will enjoy your meal here, and probably be greeted by the owner Matthieu himself.

Excellent well prepared lunch and excellent service in this small restaurant today. We started with a couple of snacks rather than a starter and these were, although small, lovely and beautifully presented. Our mains of osso bucco and roast chicken were plentiful and delicious. As a desert we had the chocolate tart with crème fraiche ice cream which complimented the richness of the tart. It was definitely the best restaurant meal that I’ve had for quite some time.

This was booked by a colleague for a work event. On viewing the menu it was very different to what I personally usually choose. However I thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine and found the service to be attentive but not intrusive. The hake was superb and the chocolate tart was amazing. Our first bottle of wine, the Primitivo, was reasonably priced and excellent. I would definitely return.

What a find! A classy paired back elegant restaurant with beautiful simple tasty seasonal food. The prices are reasonable for Fitzrovia. Main courses on the board all less than £30. It’s not a huge menu but there are choices for meat, fish and vegetarians. The pasta we had was delicious. And an amazing wine list. It’s seems there are two…one for “money no object” wine and a shorter list with options under £40. And even better you can take your own wine for £20 corkage, a brilliant option. The seating is nicely spaced out, apparently they left it like this post covid distancing and it is far more intimate than other similar restaurants were you feel like you are dinning with the next table. Highly recommend.

Amazing dinner with friends at Noize. The service and how they look after guests is another level compared to other restaurants. The attention to the smallest of the details is unbelievable, especially from the propietor Mathieu. His wine knowledge and professional service made you feel you are in the right place. Wine list is amazing and the food is fantastic. The squid starter and the pollock main are mind blowing. You can bring your own wines too and they only charge some corkage. Crazy. Very underwhelming experience. We have dined in several Michelin star restaurants around the world and love a good experience. This restaurant was a great disappointment. We had the evening menu, which appears to be dishes from the menu but to share and therefore double the price, other tables had ordered regular meals and they appeared to be the same size as the one we had to share. Secondly the food was just not great. Very normal, nothing extraordinary or special in any kind of way, rather boring and bland. Also the service was unable to speak proper English therefore the communication was difficult. The wine had to be self-served, the bottle was left at the table, no-one checked on us to refill our glasses. When we spoke up regarding missing fish cutlery, we got a rude answer from the waiter that he can cut it perfectly fine and would do it for us if we struggled 😳. No explanation on the dishes was given, just placed in front of us. Also the restaurants atmosphere is not great, it is very busy as the kitchen is on the upper floor and you can see and hear the waiters running up and down the hallway. The bar in the upper floor is operated in a loudly manner. When we asked to waive the service charge, our waitress was not able to understand the ask herself and called the manager who discussed the situation, so a bad meal with bad service was followed by a socially awkward conversation. We would have expected a price reduction at the very least. Would not recommend, genuinely don’t understand how they managed to get a Michelin Star.

I was really looking forward to visit the place after seeing the menu online, but sadly when I arrived to the restaurant there was at least 5 different dishes, if the menu was the same of the one online I would have gone for the 10 courses menu but opted for the 8 instead, which felt like a gimmick anyways because they count the canapés, pre dessert and petit fours as a course, and the cheese course being a shortcut to avoid cooking an extra dish, so in the end I really got 5 courses and paid for 8, I think they do this with everyone. The canapés and the 3 savoury courses were great, but the pre dessert and dessert were really disappointing, not really creative and the dessert left me only with a taste of basil even after the petit fours and a bit of wine that I had left. The service was friendly but sloppy, the tablecloth was dirty and I noticed even before seating but didn’t want to make a fuss out of it. Then I’ve been asked for water twice and got even the wrong one 🤦🏻‍♂️ To order food was way quicker than ordering wine which took like 15 mins and they literally had 5 tables in the room, also the waiting between the courses was way too long, which means that either the front of house or the chefs are very slow. The wine list is embarrassing and as a sommelier myself seems like a set up to rip you off, there’s not a single bottle of wine under £90, also the wines by the glass they have a gap from like £25 to £40 to £125 which is insane, no half bottles either, and for my firsrt glass of wine they didn’t even offer me to taste it before, despite the wines I ordered were both a good value and the guy who served it was decent and had some knowledge. In all this I think it was the owner sitting next to my table with some friends and drinking wine instead of worrying about the mediocre service they give which is not worth of a Michelin star, probably they are just retaining it because they have it for long time and know the people of the guide. 190£ for just myself for that menu and 2 glasses of wine is absolutely not worth it and I won’t recommend anyone that has eye for details to go there. The room itself looks so old that saying that the place feel like is stuck in the 80’s is generous. Feels bad to leave a review like this, in first place because I work in the industry and I never like to talk bad about other places, and because the staff were friendly and offered me also a glass of white wine to go with my cheeses, but after what I spent I feel like it was absolutely outrageous for the food and wines and the only taste that stays in your mouth is bitter. Also for some very weird reasons after the review the owner tries to follow me from his private instagram account probably trying to write me something. He never moved from the table as he stated in the answer and he had about 2 bottles of wine while on duty. Manager apparently that doesn’t know what a salsa verde is made of, letting guests order anything and then go and amend the order which is very annoying, another lady nearly placed my water bottle on the butter plate and so on I can go ahead for 4 pages. This place is completely pitiful and the owner is the most embarrassing and unprofessional I ever seen in my life, drinking while working and also trying to contact people. Avoid at all cost, mediocrity masked for class, which they won’t have even if they will but.

It was a while since we had been to Mon Plaisir and we were pleased that we had returned. The staff seemed less French but the food was decidedly so and both aspects were very good, albeit we waited a little longer than expected for our main courses. We selected from the main menu and seasonal specials rather than the good value set menu, so it was quite an expensive lunch, especially with the very good house champagne at £17 a glass and glasses of wine at 13 or 14. Our mains ranged from 28 to 36. Overall, very good but quite pricey.
