Noir in North Tyneside

Next to our hotel dead as a dodo did not have my best tiple brandy good views but a waste of a large building.

Had a family party here, the place was freezing cold all night, lots of staff only one could make cocktails! The others tried but failed, the cocktails were pure ice cubes!! On the plus side the buffet was good

Visited for a birthday treat for husband using a Groupon we were greeted by lovely receptionist on desk in Royal Hotel and pointed in the direction of Noir Bar where we met the lovely friendly young lady who looked after us very well we were the only ones in and were served promptly big teapot of tea and beautiful afternoon tea sandwiches scones and cakes all presented beautifully and so tasty it really was excellent value for money and a real delicious treat

Decided to try out Noir while staying in the Royal Hotel.We first went in for a drink then decide to have a look at the menu.The menu had a good choice so we had dinner there.The menu was very good value and wasn't expensive so we were pleasantly surprised when we got our food.We had potato skins for starters which were really tasty served with fresh salad and two dips.My husband had Steak pie with homemade chips and fresh veg which he really enjoyed.I had chicken skewers on a bed of rice served with a satay sauce which was also very tasty.When we paid the bill we received 10% discount which was a nice surprise.We were having a nice chilled out time so we stayed for a few drinks which were reasonably priced and the lady on the bar was very attentive and friendly.Had a great night.Will be back,!

Very upset that my daughter and son in law to be booked their engagement party here to be told they had double booked 6 weeks before hand🤷‍♀️not great news!! We went on to have our celebration at loca who were amazing!! Your loss not ours

We were extremely impressed with everything, service, presentation, ambiance, food and price. The chicken satay skewers as a main course is one of the best dishes to be tasted in ages. As we were staying at the Royal Hotel, we also got 10% discount, so that was great. This is a restaurant we would happily return to, even without receiving the discount. Even paying full price it is very reasonable and well worth trying, great food, great service, and during the day, great views!

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the Sunday lunch we had here last week. We've been before about a year ago where we had a carvery and I've had tapas which I have previously given a raving review about. Before it was all home made and very tasty. This visit was disappointing to say the least. I had a chicken dinner. The chicken tasted awful (I had one mouthful and left the rest). Tasted like a frozen chicken breast from Iceland and the Yorkshire puddings looked like Aunt Bessie's. Small and pale. Nothing was home made. I don't usually write negative reviews but felt a bit ripped off as the picture advertised on Facebook for a Sunday lunch shows something completely different. So misold really. I would not recommend this place. There are plenty of small independent cafes and restaurants around this way that charge less and make a mean Sunday lunch. I will be returning to one of those and not to this one.

Dont expect everything on menu. Very poor choice offered. Groupon customers seem to be served different choice to other paying guests.

Tapas only 6dishes no veg option just meat and fish. Everything tasted bland. Came 2years ago and food sublime. Will not be going again

A lovely warm friendly welcome. Family and friends met for a suprise baby shower/ afternoon tea. Staff all lovely, and excellent selection of sandwiches and cakes. Will definitely go back.

My partner and I went here last month with a Groupon voucher. The lady who greeted us was extremely nice and took our order. When the tea came it consisted of huge sandwiches (admittedly very fresh), massive heavy scones and a selection of delicate little cakes. When we had eaten all we could I went to the bar and asked if we could take home what we hadn't eaten. By this time the original lady had obviously gone off shift and a young girl said yes of course we could. She appeared 5 minutes later and threw a small piece of used aluminium foil onto our table and walked away. The one star I have given this review is for the cakes, which are obviously bought in and were delicious.

We held our daughter's wedding reception here on Saturday. I have to congratulate all the staff with special thanks to Michaela. The whole day and evening reception went without a hitch. The food was superb and attention to detail was second to none. Would definitely recommend Noir to everyone. Thanks again for a great day.

Excellent!! What a great evening. We had our evening wedding reception here and it went like a dream! The finger buffet food was excellent and everyone commented on how good the was including the chicken curry. I have to add a special thank you to Jack who went above and beyond the call of duty, he is a credit to Noir drinks lounge. He checked in with all night asking when we wanted things done and checking things were ok. I would highly recommend Noir drinks lounge for an event. Thank you.

We had our afternoon wedding reception at Noir and the theme was afternoon tea. Tables were set out lovely in a Tshape and covered in white and pink covers.Sandwiches were tasty and cakes really well made. They let us have the room free and drinks are reasonably priced.Prosecco for the ladies of course.A quick shout out for Ashleigh she never stopped working so hard for us and the management should take note that they have a good employee in her. Overall well worth considering for a wedding venue and it's right on the coast.😊

We were staying at the Royal Hotel which includes Noir as it's bar/dining facility giving a 10% discount to residents. We had the steak and ale pie which was superbly cooked and served with mash and 3 veg. The serving was huge. Staff and surroundings were very good. All meals we saw brought to various tables seemed equally as good. A very good quality and value for money experience which we can recommend.

Noir had been recommended to me by a few people so I needed to check it out for myself. Booking was easily done via Facebook. When we arrived it was a lot bigger than I imagined from the photos. We booked a table for 10 which consisted of a booth settee and chairs around the other side of the table. The staff were attentive and took our drinks order before bringing us the menu. There were plenty of things to choose from - Sunday lunch, Tapas, traditional English dishes to salads and lighter bites. We waited a reasonable amount of time for the food to be served and it was well worth the wait. The Sunday lunch portion was huge and well worth £8.95. It consisted of meat, 4 roast potatoes, 2 Yorkshire puddings, mash, peas, green beans, carrot and cauliflower with lashings of gravy. I didn’t manage to finish mine. Another meal came with chunky chips and they were real homemade chunky chips. We didn’t have any rooms for dessert, unfortunately, but everyone left satisfied. Would definitely return.

I went to Noir for a christening and went to order a drink with my friends. My friend who had the baby is a few months younger than me and I am 20 years old so we are all quite passed the age of 18. Me and most of my friends went to the bar to order drinks, some people were ID’d and some were not. I was ID’d and they told me they didn’t think it was me. I told them my date of birth and she got the manager over who also didn’t believe it was me. I was completely sober so was very polite in telling them all the details on my ID. I was rudely interrupted by the manager and told to ‘stop being sarcy’. I found this extremely rude and everyone around me was in shock. They then asked for my bank card and then after all that they said one of the bartenders knew me so it’s fine. He knew all my friends there so they wasted a lot of my time and were extremely rude. Will not be going back and I would never hold an event there.

Not a great deal of choice but what they do is excellent quality - went as a party of 4 so we had basically everything on the menu. Couldn't fault any of it - thank you chef!

This was a last minute booking to take my Man and daughter out for Mothers Day. I knew we would be heading to the coast and most places I tried were either already booked up or didn't take bookings at all, you just have to turn up, which on Mothers Day is risky. So I took the booking at Noir with relief. The few reviews available for their afternoon tea were good, but I was still slightly worried. I definitely didn't need to be. This is the bar /restaurant for the Royal Hotel in Whitley and the room clearly serves as a venue come nightclub as well as a restaurant, so think wooden floors, black velour and diamante furniture and twinkly lights, but all in all quite nice. They were piping in chart type music which didn't quite go with afternoon tea but it wasn't intrusive. They had two mothers day options available, a carvery which looked nice or the afternoon tea. The staff were lovely, but lacking in consistent uniforms which would have given a professional polish. We ordered tea for 2 plus an extra round of sandwiches for my daughter. The staff were very accommodating on this. You can pick your preferred sandwich filling and scone type which was great as my mam is a veggie and I am not. When the food arrived it was lovely. Sandwiches and scones very generous and plenty of little cakes for my daughter (6) to share. Staff happy to provide tea refills. For £10 each for the tea with a free mothers day prosecco thrown in this was a bargain. I will definitely visit again if I am in the area.

We booked Afternoon tea for 16 people at short notice. The food was excellent, sandwiches fresh, scones freshly made and cake lovely. My daughter had her wedding night here over a year ago and provided an Italian buffet which again was lovely. The place is warm and clean.

Food , staff and cocktails all good will return if ever back in the area meatballs were home made and tasty , home made chips were huge and cbunky

Been here quite a few times & each time the food has been lovely. Today we visited for a lunch & cocktails. Raspberry gin Collins is amazing & would recommend. We ordered a fish bite baguette & it was huge. Definitely big enough for 2 to share & at 4.95 was excellent value. The member of staff was lovely & really polite & courteous. The place is modern, pleasant & beautifully clean. The best place we’ve come across in Whitley bay for lunch & drinks. They also offer 5 or 6 tapas dishes which I can highly recommend & they also offer afternoon tea which looked lovely.

Myself and 6 friends came to Noir for a birthday meal on Friday the 6th, and the service was absolutely fantastic. I'd called in rather last minute the day before to ask if they had a table, and the woman who took my details was brilliant and so helpful. I was worried with it being last minute that she wouldn't be able to accommodate for a larger number of people, but she arranged it all and even asked what type of seating we would prefer (I chose a window table.) I also brought along a cake for my friend's birthday and asked if it would be possible for a member of staff to bring it out with candles on after our meal, which she said would be no problem at all.

We went in quite early so maybe it was a little too early but the atmosphere was awful. Staff went out for cigarettes and left you alone in there. Feel it needs more TLC. Probably wouldn't return.

So noir is on the side of the royal where we stayed last night. We noted that there is a 10% discount in noir for hotel guests, saw good reviews on here and we like tapas with cocktails, sold. Lovely decor and seating etc, some real money has been spent here. We enjoyed our pornstar martinis greatly. Next up was tapas which is now more limited menu wise than the website says, but we greatly enjoyed many tiger prawns and pork belly bites all in just enough (masses and masses) garlic butter, great large portions of fries and the best bit, onion rings, clearly fresh actual onion and lovely light batter!! We then very much enjoyed "the godfather" cocktail. Now, the one bad bit was our bottle of Chilean sauvignon blanc, we didn't end up paying for it thankfully, but it really was awful! Great service here and it was ensured that this wasn't on our bill. Overall, great place, would eat here again.

We went here to get out the rain and glad we did as it was a really lovely little bar. Nice selection of cocktails and wines. Enjoyed a glass of fizz and my friend had a Bloody Mary. The men had beers. Wish we had stayed for food but we were booked elsewhere but other customers food looked excellent. Will be returning. It was a little cold though, but that could be down to being quite a large room.

Fantastic atmosphere in this very modern restaurant, the food is awesome and exceptional value. Staff couldn't help enough. Go try it!

We had afternoon Tea at Noir on the new sea view terrace overlooking the sea. It was a lovely sunny day and the afternoon tea was delicious. The service was professional and polite and we plan to return for unlimited prosecco afternoon tea next time and make a day of it!

we had our wedding reception here day and night, the staff every single one of them where very friendly, helpful, we couldn't ask for more, the food was wonderful for our daytime and the night time buffet every single person enjoyed their food, and commented how amazing the place was, myself and June could not praise the staff higher and they bend over backwards to make your time very special for you.

Recently had a late lunch at Noir whilst out in Whitley Bay enjoying the nice weather. The place was very clean and the tables where lovely. Very nice bar/restaurant.

6 of us went to celebrate a friend's birthday. We all had the 3 tapas and bottle of wine deal which was really good value. The tapas were gorgeous particularly the prawns and squid. The house wine on the offer was fine and the dessert cocktails to finish were absolutely divine. The staff were really friendly and helpful making a really good Saturday afternoon at the coast, definitely recommend a visit.

We had the tapas on an impromptu visit, the quality of the food was good and the friendly staff were excellent. We will certainly call again. Ian

Food is good and freshly made, we went with a groupon voucher for 2 sharing 6 tapas and I can definitely say that for lunch was more than enough.They have an offer for 3 tapas for 11pounds between 12 to 7pm so also a good offer if not able to get the Groupon voucher. Had a medium glass of house white wine (£4) and a non alcoholic Heineken (£3). Service was fast and polite. Place was empty at the time we went (12pm),did call to book in advance but have been told that for lunch it is not necessary. Wheelchair and buggy accessible. I would recommend fried squid, Lamb with rosemary and butterbeans, Spanish meatballs (tiny bit spicy), belly pork with blue cheese and the patatas bravas.

I had my wedding doo here and couldn't have been happier with the service I received. The staff were amazing and couldn't have been more helpful. The venue is so nice that I didn't even bother decorating it. The DJ I hired through Noir was great and the food was amazing especially the potato skins.

Food is tasty, fresh and good value. On offer is a good selection. Loved the tapas and wine option, excellent value for money...... very reasonable, wine option a bargain in comparison to other restaurants,/bars nearby. Only drawback....It's popular with the locals​ who book it for special occasions like birthdays etc so it can be noisy or restricted​.

We stayed in the Royal hotel which is next door. We ate tapas here and it was top notch!! The quality was second to none. It was so cheap you wouldn;t believe!!! Huge prawns in oil and garlic, tempura battered veg done absolutely perfectly,sea food skewers cooked to perfection,,,, i could go on but honestly just go!!!

Had dinner at Noir yesterday evening with my work colleagues. The food was fab. We ordered a selection of tapas and a sharing platter. Everything was delicious. Portions were generous too which makes a pleasant change for tapas. There was a singer / vocalist in the bar too which added to the ambiance. We all had a top evening. Very happy. Would heartily recommend and we'll definitely go back.

Whilst working in the area we wanted a quick drink before having dinner. We hadn't planned to eat here but after seeing some of the other orders, we decided to take a look at the menu. Whilst most of the standard menu is tapas, the specials are standard menu items. We choose the ribs and wings platter and the seafood risotto-both of which were huge! Good value for money and nice food. No ale though, which is why it lost a point. Nice to have live music too.

Just had a fantastic Sunday lunch made even more so as 3 of us arrived at 5.45pm asking for vegetarian Sunday lunch when roast dinner finished at 6pm! Chef's nightmare? Oh no, the management and staff couldn't have been more accommodating. We were offered a tomato, mushroom & goats cheese bake and then had ALL the vegetables from the carvery buffet - 7 not including roast potatoes and fluffy Yorkshire puds! Accompanied by a rather lovely Italian Merlot. 5* for staff, ambience and food, thank you!

Have visited several times and am always impressed with the tapas menu. The venue is great and is on the sea front. Have used Groupon vouchers several times so get 6 tapas dishes for £14.50 - excellent value. The food is nicely presented, authentic and very tasty. Would recommend, especially with a Groupon voucher.

Had early food. They are mainly a tapas bar, but have daily specials. Had cod and chips...OK but never had battered cod on the bone before.

We popped in to Noir in need of a drink after an emotional day. We ended up having wine and tapas and thoroughly enjoying an evening of superb live music from Amy in this friendly and unpretentious bar. Unexpectedly great!

We arrived to a very quiet restaurant, there was only one other table of 2 people, we were somewhat dubious as a previous visit to Noir was not great.

Another great Tapas, don't really want to tell everyone how great this place is, feel it's our little gem. Brilliant for Tapas and the specials, drinks very reasonable and staff are always courteous and very friendly. Great atmosphere.

Attended today for the first time and it was absolutely amazing. Fantastic place, very friendly staff, excellent service and the food was out of this world. Highly recommended and will be definitely be returning soon.

Sat here now with my wife such a chilled atmosphere just done the 14.95 six tapas deal absolutely fantastic only came out for a light bite but we are absolutely full to stuffed ,

just got in from having a high tea at this restaurant what can i say it was excellent the sandwiches were very fresh and the scone were the best I have ever tasted and the little cakes were mouth watering the pot of tea was good quality this place gets 10 and of 10 from me also the staff were very attentive would certainly go back ..

We attended a wedding reception here. Both the service and the food were good. However, as a teetotaller I was surprised, when buying drinks for companions, to discover that a 330ml bottle of beer cost £3.50.

On arrival. We were greeted by a very friendly from person. We did not have to wait to long to be served. The sandwiches were freshly made, a good selection to choose from. The cakes and scones were succulent and we all enjoyed them.On the whole, we had a great afternoon.

Party of 4. The food was excellent and good live singer. Only grumble was it was quite cold inside, but other than that highly recommended.

Just been to noir as a little treat for my aunt. We had wonderful time. We were seated in window with lovely Seaview. We only wanted a coffee and scone but decided on a wine to start. My aunt ordered a white and I asked for a red. Unfortunately the red I asked for they didn't have but the waitress quickly brought me over 2 other wines to sample. We then ordered our scones and coffee. Delicious scones and lively hot coffee. Very nice atmosphere. Will definitely visit again.

Part of The Royal Hotel which is also excellent see my review, As well as a range of "standard meals" they do an absolute bargain Tapas deal. Choose any 3 of 19 available dishes and a bottle of acceptable wine for £18. And its all beautifully cooked. I stay at the hotel every week and happily eat here at least 2 nights a week,

Absolutely fabulous I had the tapas and would highly recommend the pork ,chicken and the lamb tapas Will definitely be coming back .Very friendly and helpful with small children .

Went here for Tapas, it's a multi-functional Bar/Cafe/Restaurant, not quite sure how it flows. Interior is more suited to a night club, but the food is very good.

Had afternoon tea at Noir and it was lovely. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Sandwiches were lovely, and cherry and coconut scone with jam and cream was delicious also a nice selection of small cakes. Will definitely be returning soon.

Dont be put off by its shabby chic apperance, the food served was really good and the the service was excelent and his (Danial's) knowledge of the menu was worth considering, a good place to relax.

We have been here a few times and they never let you down the tapas and drinks are delicious and we had a Groupon deal so it was amazing value for money.

8 of us visited this place last Saturday for a meal out! From start to finish the service and food was exceptional. The staff were very accommodating! The tapas was ten out ten. We ordered the whole menu between 8 of us and I was a little bit worried about the bill but forgot about this after copious amounts of wine but when the bill came it was very reasonable! We were all impressed and will be back again. Thanks for a great night!

Had a lovely afternoon tea bought as a gift for mine and my husband's wedding anniversary, it was lovely . Choice of sandwiches scones and a selection of other sweet treats topped off with a glass of prosecco.

We were staying at the hotel which is attached and had avoided dining in the Noir as my hubby not keen on Tapas until we popped in for an afternoon coffee and caught sight of the menu!!.... The bar staff/waiting on staff are lovely ....polite helpful...nothing too much trouble and the chef is equally as pleasant with food to die for ... the Tapas 3 dishes with wine offer at £17.95 is such good value ..,the food is tasty and plentiful and with fish chips at £7.95 plus various other regular dishes on offer there is something for everyone all reasonably priced. Wide selection of sweets on offer too. Atmosphere and ambience relaxed would recommend.

Popped in for an afternoon bite and a drink. Everything was lovely, the staff working were really helpful and chatty. Huge compliments to the chef, we particularly enjoyed the lamb and butter bean stew. Thank you!

Pleasant staff and a nice quiet afternoon, we both had the 3 for £10.95 deal, the Tiger prawns and chorizo & goats cheese salad were the stars, closely followed by the chicken in honey & mustard, the potted crab disappointed though a bit bland for me.

I have visited Noir twice now and will go back again. The staff brilliant very friendly and attentive. On both occasions we had the special tapas deal £17.95 for three tapas of your choice and a bottle of house wine. I have enjoyed all the tapas I have had, my favourite was the catch of the day skewers, melt in your mouth cod, scallop and king prawn. They have specials and the fish and chips looked delicious. Noir is brilliant value for money.

We had the 3 tapas for £10.95 and although it is always lovely, this was the best it's ever been, I would recommend the chorizo and goats cheese salad and the lamb chops, the cocktails are delicious as well.

Went for a catch up with friends! Absolutely great service so well done to all the staff! It was completely organised as some tapas places can be the opposite! My 4 tapas came out on the same board so there were no passing dishes around the table until you find your own!

I purchased an groupon voucher for afternoon tea as a nice get together with my sister and niece who where over visiting from oz along with my stepmam we arrived to hotel and were sat at a window table where someone had clearly been sitting before us as there were crumbs and tea stains all over the table cloth and cups were sent back as dirty we ordered our sandwiches which were poorly presented two slices of bread with crust cut off then halved scones were average but the cakes were very poor couldn't really half things if you wanted to share all were lacking in taste and overall not pleasant at all there was also an issue with the tea we all received one pot when asked later was there anything else we would like we asked for more tea where a staff very rudely snapped back that will be extra (I mean come on really I have never had afternoon tea where it has been limited to one pot/cup) I have eaten afternoon tea in many places and would NEVER go back here the pictures are false advertising to what what you get and all awful would not recommend this place to anyone !!!

enjoyed a group on discounted meal of 18 different tapas of a total of 19 available.they were varied and tasty, and quite good sized portions.12 would have been enough, so we were well satisfied, and would go again,especially as we now know which dishes we liked most.The tiger prawn tapas were the tastiest, and the sauces were delicious.Service was good, and the only negative was the residual smell of paint upstairs from a recent refurbishment.

I booked a table for my mums birthday last week for afternoon tea. The staff were amazing and they had made the table very nice for us so it was a lovely surprise for my mum.

I have visited this restaurant a few times, and also recommended it to friends as I love the tapas and think it is of a really high quality.

It was the best Tapas ever and so cheap everything was freshly prepared really really enjoyed found it great service provided friendly staff we will definitely be back thank you! Ali

Visited here last week with a voucher I got from groupon with my mam, grandma and great nana. We had afternoon tea and opted for a glass of bubbly each and got a few more pots of tea. The sandwiches were lovely as were the scones and cakes. Very good choice offered. The ambience was lovely and they had some great music playing, it suited us all. Decor is lovely, I imagine the place is fantastic on a night time for a few drinks. Lovely day out for the 4 generations :) will definitely be back!

Four of us went for tapas on a Sunday afternoon with a Groupon - I had expected it to be busy but it was pretty quiet. The food didn't take long to arrive, and all the tapas we chose were tasty and well cooked. They were very Spanish as they weren't very hot! However, I appreciate getting 12 individual dishes to the table, alll hot, is quite a challenge.

We visited Noir for food a few weeks earlier as we had got a cheap deal through a certain website. However we found it so delicious we revisited a few weeks later... we weren't disappointed. Service good, tapas food brilliant choice and absolutely fantastic. Really reasonably priced. Really hope more people visit as it is a little gem.

This was my fourth visit for tapas and was disappointed with our meal. The spare ribs were tough, the lamb was too salty and the chips were undercooked potato wedges. All this and a cold breeze from the 'heating' system made it a bad experience sadly as the staff were really nice and friendly. Is this why the restaurant is empty I wonder.

We went here for my sons 18th birthday, there was 13 people and they couldn't be more accommodating, the food and drinks were lovely, I would recommend the cocktails and tapas as there was something for everyone.

What a find!!! Best Tapas ever. Good portion size, full of flavour and taste. Great staff, perfect service. Asked for a cheese board that was not on the menu, you would not believe what arrived on our table 10 mins later. Massive portion 4 select cheeses, 2 x chutney, grapes, red/green pepper sliced, 4 different types of biscuit .... You could not have asked for more.... Will never stay in Newcastle again...Whitley Bay every time..

Bought a Groupon deal for a sparkling afternoon tea and had a really lovely time. Visited on a Wednesday afternoon with the hubbie and we were served by a really friendly guy, who went out of his way to make sure everything was fine. We started with the fizz which was great and then had to choose from a choice of sandwiches and scones. sandwiches were lovely and nice and fresh, scones were really tasty just a bit on the big side which fills you up, Hubbie enjoyed the sweet things. All in all good value for money. It worked out with the deal about £8 50 each.

Stumbled across this little gem.. Was unsure at first... However was welcomed by a professional and attentive member of staff.. Who I got chatting to.. Her name was Lynsey! She made our night worth while and I, along with the family will definitely be back!!! Food was gorgeous and I can't wait to come back!! Thank you Noir!!!

We had tapas and the food was beautiful, great portion sizes and amazing taste. Staff were really attentive and Lindsay especially was professional and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely evening, will be back 😄

Just discovered here having lived around the corner for 6 months! Very stylish decor and friendly attentive staff. I ordered from the tapas menu and my partner went for a main from the Specials Board. We were both very happy with our choices! Ian had Scampi and hand cut chips which looked fabulous. Proper Scampi and Hand Cut chips served on a wooden board with home made tartare sauce. My Tapas was amazing! I made the mistake of ordering a portion of chips which I didn't need, I'll remember that next time. Delighted to have found this place and can't wait to come back and try their music night on a Thursday. Highly recommended.

Just been in, food fantastic, service even better and live music. Lindsay was amazing. This place will be fabulous when the weather gets better however in a foggy night in March Whitley bay seafront has a great feeling.
