We recently visited The strawberry Cushion in Troon. WE were greeted warmly upon our arrival. We were seated promptly. The service was exceptional. Our server was pleasant, polite and informative. Our lunch was served quickly and the lentil soup was to die for. Everything we ordered was tasty and warm.

Visited The Strawberry Cushion late morning. It was extremely busy but a very pleasant lady asked us to wait a few minutes while she cleared a table for us. Coffee and cakes were delicious. Extensive menu, very reasonably priced. Lovely clean cafe with friendly, helpful staff.

Just visited this cafe today and thought the broccoli and cauliflower soup sounded good,so that’s what I ordered,Big Mistake! It was awful, really thick and tasteless apart from the really spicy kick which must have been pepper or chilli,I only had a couple of spoons and had to leave the rest. The waitress asked how our food was and I replied I couldn’t eat it and explained why,she said their soup was always thick and if I’d mentioned it she would have thinned it down for me,(sounded even less appealing) I also had to pay for it,needless to say,I won’t be back.

The Strawberry Cushion, formally No 3 cafe as listed here. Is a true gem of place. It’s a well laid out little cafe with a glorious display of cakes at its heart to tempt you! All the staff are always lovely and pleasant, always taking the time to ensure your every need is met. Their recently new menu has went down a treat, they provide a wide selection of cafe favourites - panini’s, sandwiches, soup etc to please any hungry customer. They also have more hearty meals like delicious mac n cheese and pastas which are always served to a high standard. After a lunch, a cake is a must. The selection of homemade tray bakes, baking and scones is extensive, plus there is always seems to be another mouthwatering creation on each visit! There is always something to accompany their wonderfully crafted coffee. I believe they have an award dedicated to their coffee. All of this in a friendly relaxed clean atmosphere combined with the incredibly reasonable prices (a nearby cafe was charging almost triple for the same products!) makes it’s a returning favourite for us. Wether your passing for the first time or a regular you’ll never regret stopping in! Keep up the good work.

We visited the Strawberry Cushion for brunch on Saturday. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating or friendly. The full Scottish Breakfast is a must, it was delicious. I would definitely recommend for both excellent food and service. The cakes looked amazing too, but I was too full to have one.

If you visit Troon and are looking for a place to have a nice quiet lunch then the no3 cafe now known as the strawberry cushion is the place to visit. This great cafe has a fantastic choice of wraps, paninis and other small dishes to have. The staff are superb and always make you feel welcome. I would also recommend the home baking. Visited on a busy bank holiday and by 1 pm they had run out of rolls. Who could have predicted it would be busy on a sunny bank holiday. Overheard another customer replying to the question" Are you going anywhere?" With the reply " yes to somewhere to get something to eat , only my coffees arrived but not my food order." My food order included tortillas chips which is technically correct as there were 3 which is plural and more than 1!

After taking the kids for a walk along the beach we stopped off hear (now The Strawberry Cushion) for a warm coffee before heading home. Great service from our waitress who convinced us to have a scone of the day, white chocolate and raspberry, and boy was it good, if anything not big enough to share with my wife. Kids enjoyed their tray bakes and hot chocolates, and what looked like all home made goodies in the counter as well as the shelf of goodies on the way out, we have defo found our new destination to top off our next day out.

Had a good look around the town and this cafe has a comfy and relaxed look with a simple and attractive menu. On the small side however table spacing is fine and a relaxed atmosphere pervades. Service was very good - prompt, selective and friendly. Prices were good and they are enthusiastic about the quality of the service they provide.

First thing we noticed was menu missing from window display but popped in for look around. Mostly couples with coffees and light snacks. Sat down at table and again no menu. Had to ask a passing assistant for a menu. Ordered a combo from menu. Food was ok but without any trimmings and no sauces were on table or offered. No bill presented at table had to go to counter for a total. Overall not a bad experience but Venue could do better for new customers if they attend to the small touches / improvements highlighted above.

Me invisible?

Stopped off for breakfast here with the family. Nothing was too much trouble, great service from Fraser and Doreen (I'm 90% certain of their names). We ordered a wide range of food, with the men ordering full breakfasts (cooked to order), my Grandad having a freshly prepared sandwich, Mum having the Lentil soup (she highly recommends) and I (being on a diet) just had toast. We all enjoyed the tea, food and atmosphere. Thanks again!

No 3 is a very pleasant coffee shop in Church Street in the town centre. It is always spotlessly clean, has a few tables outside and a good range of cakes, scones, sandwiches, soup, etc. at reasonable prices.I have visited several times in the past month or so and their coffee (capuccino, being my favourite) is really good. Their treacle scones are to die for.The staff are very accommodating and always exceptionally pleasant. A real joy. This is one of the best in Troon.

Dropped in for coffee today (3/4/16) and was lots of empty tables,2 had reserved signs, which is a bit much as it is a cafe, and during our time there was not any customers for the tables, also the staff were more taken with their loud conversation, other than that the visit was alright. I had lunch at No.3 in April 2015 with my mum and toddler daughter and was really impressed. Yes, it's a cafe offering a fairly standard menu, but the food was tasty and reasonably priced and our server, Fraser, was really impressive. He was attentive, polite, funny; all the qualities that are often lacking elsewhere! We didn't stay for cakes, but the scones in particular looked great. Was recommended by the lady working in WH Smiths over the road and it looked like a good choice for a late lunch. However as mentioned elsewhere the ending of hot food AND sandwiches / panini's etc after 3pm is ridiculous and left them with two less customers. The lady behind the counter was very nice in pointing out other options in Troon which were still serving food (!) However I'm afraid for a cafe to turn away paying customers is simply not good enough in this day and age.

I visited here with my family recently and left pretty annoyed. As soon as we entered we had a woman in our face telling us they weren't serving hot food. This was fine as we weren't looking for lunch anyway but at just after 3pm on a Saturday afternoon I did actually find this unusual. We then had somebody else at our table to take our order before we had even all sat down. When we asked for another couple of minutes she too told us they weren't serving lunches anymore. She then uncomfortably stared at us from behind the counter until we had finished looking at the coffee list. Although I can't fault the cakes and coffees, I have never felt as uncomfortable in a coffee shop. It was obvious the staff wanted customers to leave and made little effort. I noticed this with other customers as well. We won't be returning.

Visited recently and my husband & I had the worst ever baked potato and Coronation Chicken. Waited almost 20 minutes for it and our tea was getting cold it took so long. The so-called Coronation Chicken consisted of pre-formed tiny bits of "something" which tasted of "nothing" and the sauce was bland. Felt as though we were eating rubber. At almost £6 for a baked potato it was very poor value. What a wasted of money. Had lovely lunch in the past when called The Strawberry Cushion but has obviously changed ownership and not for the better. Sorry, but don't recommend.

Been in a few times now, wanted to give a fair chance as it's a convenient spot and the food is decent, but the staff are always rude and disinterested, they ruin the place. Best avoided. Also, claim to offer discounts for public service bus drivers, but that's also not true.

This is a real hidden gem. Set off the beaten track it takes a bit more effort that some of the more bouge cafes in Troon, but if you're looking for honest food and a fair price in a cafe you can get a seat in....its well worth the extra 3 min walk.
