Very good still, even though it lost the number3 brand. Same chef, same team, just no Phil. New menus, theme nights and a great wine list. Beer/ale selection can be a little up and down, but they always have 3-4 to pick from Great beer garden too

When I visited Charlton Kings area, I chose this pub for a trial. It looked cozy with beer garden outdoor and traditional English setup indoor. 2 barmaids were good looking and kind. I ordered their only steak dish on the menu. Unfortunately the steak looked well but tasted plain and chewy… The pub chose Rump Steak as their only steak on the pub menu with charge of 20 pound which kind of reflecting the pub food level down. Charlton Kings is the most posh area in the whole Cheltenham with average 550000 pound house selling price, people here or travelers definitely can afford higher price with much better quality of steak. But when I told the barmaids about the steak too chewy, they did not respond anything. Maybe they already get used to the customers complaints about the steak but never informed head chef which was a big pity for this kind of restaurant&Pub. The waitress was very nice though.

We went here for Sunday lunch with friends and loved it. We will be back. The service and food were excellent and although not crowded the place had a good atmosphere. The menu contained a food choice to suit all dietary needs as far as we could see and I had the vegan roast that was a nut, mushroom, rice patty and it was very good, (first time for everything) the potatoes, veg and gravy where excellent and well cooked and plentiful. We will definitely be going back

Definitely a must visit it you're in the area, and if you are a meat eater - go hungry !!! If youre not in the area - get in the area LOL... My husband had pre-booked a table for the Saturday before Valentines Day. He booked here due to the outstanding reputation of this restaurant and it being owned by Phil Vickery. When we arrived, we were informed that it was no longer owned by him, which surprised us. We were shown into the back room (booked for 7pm) and were the only people in there for a short time. The service was good and the food was nice, but personally, I felt it was slightly over-priced. It wasn't very busy for a Saturday night and it lacked atmosphere somehow. The location is quite out of the way.

We had a meal at No 3 in the Merryfellow. While the food here was sensational, the service was sadly shocking. We'd booked a table for 8pm (party of 5), and finally got our food at 9.40pm. Additionally, we had to call staff over for everything, rather than them approach us and offer to help or take our order - to be seated at our table, for drinks, food and additional drinks during our hour and forty minutes wait. The restaurant wasn't full at the time. I brought it up when the plates were cleared but instead of apologizing the waiter said it is usually busy at that time and they had been trying to stagger orders for the kitchen. I would suggest if a restaurant knows it's going to be busy at a certain time and can't get staff, they shouldn't take bookings for then. If we'd wanted to eat at 9.40pm we'd have booked a table for then. Such a shame as the food was amazing but sadly in this instance the front of house really let it down.

Amazing quality of steak with a choice between chateaubriand or a tomahawk. Comes with fries and salad. Great selection of other sides available - Brussels sprouts are perfectly cooked with bacon bits. Sunday roast is also delicious with plenty of gravy. Great treat for when you want to celebrate something special :)

Wasn't needed We couldn't have a conversation without shouting 😒 Ask for table in bar area if you want some decent conversation We had a 45 minute wait to get our food, not ideal having been given a time when we needed to vacate the table.......

I went there to have a steak with chips. Turned up to be a nice place to have a dinner at. Good atmosphere, filling and tasty food. It was noticeable how waiters tried their best to make a good impression. Overall, this place is recommended, although, you need to be aware of reasonable prices and need of some time to get food cooked. Not a quiet place sometimes which is worth mentioning.

6 of us ate here last Saturday. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff (thank you Danny!) and delicious food. Loved the Burrata salad, arancini and ploughman's. Nicest meal we've had for a long time and we are looking forward to returning soon. Highly recommend and so pleased there's a decent restaurant we can walk to!

Service was excellent. Asked for a medium/ rare rump steak that turned up overcooked and barely edible. A lot of gristle and fat and subsequently left a third of it on the plate. I would like to think a reasonably decent chef would have seen it was a poor quality cut before cooking . It came with a tiny side salad , a small pot of sauce and a little bowl of French fries. Overpriced child sized portions of low quality food would be the best description.

Delicious food, we had some sharing plates, they were all presented beautifully and so delicious. The staff were all so friendly and attentive, without being too much. We sat in the garden with our toddler, it was so relaxing and lovely to have the garden for children. A really relaxing pub and we cannot wait for the restaurant to open!

Service has been good given only 2 members of staff. Overall, it's not what you would expect for an establishment of this reputation. I asked for my steak medium to medium rare. It was medium rare at a push. My husband had a fillet that he really liked. The burnt aubergine starter was lovely and generous. The worst bit was the dessert - the cheapest glass you can get in a warehouse. I'd expect better. I would come again to see if it was just tonight as I feel it was on off night and expectations too high.

Visited on a Wednesday Steak night for my sons 21st. From start to finish the service and food were outstanding. We had heard good things about the restaurant but our expectations were surpassed. We had a very enjoyable Sunday lunch at No.3 - delicious roast and accompaniments, friendly service and very welcoming to our 4-year-old. While the grown-ups had traditional roasts from the menu, we were told that they rather than a kids' menu, they would make what we asked from what they had in the kitchen - in our case, sausages, chips and beans. We all, therefore, had exactly what we wanted!

We went to this restaurant in October 22. It had been on our list of places to try and so we went along on a Sunday afternoon. We booked for 6 people, which one was a newborn. It is a little awkward getting the pram down the stairs at the entrance but other than that it was easy. The Sunday roast was amazing and we had 2 vegetarians who enjoyed the nut roast. All of the staff were very welcoming and chatty, especially with our son. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and we will be returning in the future

Really disappointed. First time we ate here the food was great, but this time was very different, we were oversold on the need for each of us to order a large platter for starters - then the main I had was so dry and tough it was inedible. The hosting staff talked the talk with asking if everything was good but didn’t walk the walk with our response. Totally glazed over our dissatisfaction with indifference. Such a shame - but will not return or recommend.

Brilliant from start to finish. A friend and client recommended No.3 after going for breakfast and after showing me a picture of his plate I was sold. Went on a Sunday with no intention of having a roast dinner but couldn’t be happier with my choice, had the burnt aubergine dip to share and a pork belly roast for the main, while my girlfriend had the nut roast. The service was perfect, welcomed wholeheartedly from the moment we walked down the stairs, I believe it was Hugo who greeted my girlfriend and I, he was extremely accommodating to our request to eat in the courtyard (too nice a day to be sat inside). He gave us advice on the menu and portion sizes, which was invaluable to avoid over ordering, as the portions are hearty but not too much. Totally impressed by the food, staff, service, location and general feel of No.3, I have been raving to friends since leaving.

I had my first ever private dining experience here and I LOVED every bit of it. I keep craving the steak, green beans and that salad was so crunchy (plus the utterly delicious truffle taste, it is my favourite). YUM YUM YUM. Service was excellent from start to finish. Starters were amazing, I thought overpriced when reading the menu but they were worth it upon tasting. The ribeye main was a perfect size but not the best quality. It was like the meat was not beaten or possibly cooked direct from the fridge instead of at room temp as it was very tough. It was cooked medium rare as requested but a very tough cut; more like rump rather than ribeye. That did let the meal down as we both ordered ribeye. With hindsight I would have ordered the tomahawk between us but at £75, when a tomahawk from my local butcher is £30, I thought was unreasonable (since fries and sauce are an additional charge). House red wine was great. My only improvement suggestion would be to source higher quality meat; there is plenty available locally.

Best meal of the weekend at this restaurant. We had scallops, aracini balls and steak tataki to start- the steak was a standout and absolutely delicious, as were all of the other starters. We had cod and beef cheeks as a main, both again very well done. The wait staff were also super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and area, giving us good cocktail and food recommendations.

Amazing meal here at No3, from the warm welcome and friendly staff to the delicious food. The wild mushroom aranchini were excellent. Crispy on the outside but slightly gooey inside. The ham hock terrine and piccalilli was very tasty. Nduja cod with BBQ octopus was stunning, full of flavour and perfect cooked. Ribeye steak again perfectly cooked and delicious. Crispy pork belly was spicy, sticky, crispy and very enjoyable. All in all an excellent meal.

Now a favourite restaurant in Cheltenham. No3 had a lively buzz on Thursday as well as the usual great food. This place is catching on! It has a more flexible menu than traditional 3 course dining, although you can dine traditionally if you prefer. I went for a sharing platter followed by one of the smaller 'plates' this time to suit my appetite. Terrific food and excellent, enthusiastic service.

We were so lucky to find this gem while we were having a short lunch break in the middle of our long drive back from holiday. Absolutely amazing food and service. Everything was so yummy and we were constantly wow-ing. It’s such a great vibe in the restaurant. It will be a bit of a drive for us but we will 100% be back to have the food again!!

Really amazing and well thought through dishes. Elliot, the restaurant owner and our waiter explained all the meals to us and provided exquisite care whilst we were there, I recommended the Wild Mushroom and Pork Belly small platters. We shared three small platters between two people and was completely filled by the time the spicy potatoes (which were so well seasoned) came out. Due to restrictions, we sat outside in an aesthetically pleasing gazebo with a heat over us and eat seat had warm blankets provided. Above and beyond if you ask me. Will most definitely back and visit!

My partner took me for a birthday dinner last night and WOW it was probably one of the best meals of my life! He and I are veggie and so the (excellent) manager Elliott suggested a mix of sharing plates 2 small 2 large which was a perfect amount. The mushroom arincini were delicately crisp with a gooey, umami filling, on a generous blob of seriously garlicky aioli. The veg curry was smoky, silky and not at all heavy. The cloud like burrata and tomato salad piquant and moreish and the asparagus with salsa verdi - my fave - oozing with flavour. Everything was perfectly cooked, very fresh and you could tell everything had been so well thought out. All the flavours complemented each other divinely. A very nice NZ sauv blanc went well with it too! Service was impeccable. Its the little things like being asked discreetly "the 250 Madam?" rather than "small or LARGE wine Madam?" that shows exemplary training and experience! :-D Paul Vickery was doing the rounds and he came to chat with us; a very lovely, quietly spoken man who seemed humbled with all his successes in life. I can safely say this new restaurant - opened in the pandemic - is another to add to his list! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous front of house staff, eclectic menu ( love the idea of sharing items tapas style ), superb cooking, flavours and presentation. Delicious restaurant in Cheltenham. Went for a combination of starters. Particularly loved the tapas Pork Belly, wow amazing . Opted for the vegetarian main which was packed full of flavour. My highlight was the dessert it was absolute perfection, the chocolate fondant wow! Can I just say as well the restaurant manager Elliot was just fabulous, I would go back just to be served by him again, his knowledge and charisma was unlike any other service. When I next go to Cheltenham I will back would love to try breakfast and lunch options.

This place should work but it doesn't. Saturday night and most tables were empty but still the bar service is so slow. The bar tenders look like they want to be somewhere, anywhere but there and by the time we got served so did we. What's needed is table service, and some staff who look like they want to be there. I can't see how this restaurant is going to stay open which will be a real shame as it could be fabulous.

I ordered was not right although it most clearly was and refused to taste (understandable) replace or acknowledge: we don’t want free drinks - and I know what my regular drink tastes like.
