Charged me a silly service charge when the service wasn’t all that great.

I was yesterday in that place , the lady’s as a waitress was so nice and very polite and helpful but the guy on the bar so rude and no helpful at all . He supposed change his position or the job . Not smile , tired , I know this place for long long time , I know the polish guy as a manager he was very nice person but this person on the bar definitely need to be change . Thank You

Lovely experience here for brunch then we returned for evening for food and drinks. I must say the lady serving us was an absolute gem. She was very attentive at all times and made sure we were very well looked after. I would recommend for brunch, dinner and casual drinks. Great place to hang out.

Made to feel uncomfortable by bad attitude of staff in response to an unfortunate and unpleasant event. My friend ordered a Diet Coke, which was served as an unopened can and a glass with ice it in. After filling the glass she picked it up and the bottom fell off the glass into her lap along with its contents. Her white tshirt was completely covered in Coke, but the waitress’s reaction to to simply take away the glass, bring another can and bring one more paper napkin. We had to ask for more napkins. At the end of the meal we were handed our bill and it was explained to us that we would not be charged for the extra Coke (the one that ended up all over her). We asked if some form of compensation could be offered, since the experience had somewhat ruined our lunch. The waitress went away and came back saying they had removed the (discretionary) service charge from the bill. We were not happy about this and asked to see the manager. The manager came and implied that they were not to blame and my friend was made to feel as if it was somehow her fault this had happened. The manager said “The glass was intact when we gave it to you, I don’t know what you want. What do you want?” We asked if she could remove the charge for the Coke £3.80 from the bill, which she did, but made it clear we were a major inconvenience to her. The whole experience was disappointing and unpleasant. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about and expensive for what it was. We will not be returning.

A very pleasant first visit! I had a Sunday roast which was nice. Some parts of beef was slightly over and dry but most of it is still tender (wish there was more beef though) cauliflower cheese was one of the best things I had that day! All the veggies were tasty too. My partners burger and fries were good as well, would defo revisit

Guy with dreads behind the bar is unfriendly and rude. Used to love it here with the old bartenders. Such a Shame

We were down from Worcestershire (Malvern) for Granddaughters UWL Graduation. What a brilliant place for the “halftime” pitstop. The food was varied plenty and delicious and staff we treated us like we were locals. Calamari & 1/2 chicken hit so many spots and kept me ticking over till the early hours.

Came in for a cocktail, Daisy made and AMAZING cosmo, super friendly. Thanks for looking after me!

I came for brunch this morning and ordered the plant based granola from the breakfast menu labelled pb for plant-based. Double checked with the waitress if this was all vegan and she said yes. I had one mouthful of the yoghurt and knew it was dairy (vegan since birth so it was a very sour unusual taste). Told the waitress who checked with the kitchen, she told us that the coconut yoghurt usually served hadn’t come in the food order, so the kitchen decided to swap it to dairy yoghurt, and the waitress was not informed about this. She apologised profusely and was very lovely about the whole situation. Then the Manager came over and we explained the situation and she did not seem to think this was an issue as I didn’t have an allergy, and seemed to think it was acceptable to serve an animal product for a dish clearly marked as plant based saying coconut yoghurt. Absolutely bizarre and totally unacceptable. Long story short, it got quite heated and she didn’t get that if something is labelled as plant based/vegan on a menu, you expect to get a plant based/vegan meal. Still shocked at the whole experience and will definitely never be back.

This is my second visit. This time with my child, for brunch. Previously with my closest friend. Twice I have had the most pleasant experiences and time. Stunning venue, clean, great ambience, lovely staff (Kitty & João), and great produce and skilled chefs. Great value for money and superb location. Will visit again.

Very nice place with super original furnishings. It's a shame about the kitchen service, it took forever to receive the dishes, we were at a business dinner and holding court at a dinner that lasted for hours was challenging. The food itself was good, but for the environment I give 3 stars because despite being inside, having no dividers, the smoke from those who were placed outdoors entered and eating while smoking is never the best for a non-smoker. More could be done with little effort, too bad.

All staff were very friendly & professional. Good atmosphere and beer selection. One issue I must mention. 12.5% service charge for ordering beer from the counter is not a good idea. Table food service I expect to pay 12.5%. Apart from that we would still go back

It’s alight! Not a huge amount of choice around Ealing so it ticks a box. Staff are all nice bur service isn’t the best (quite slow / not the most attentive). Had to get up to try and get anyone’s attention for water / things missed from order etc. Food is pretty good, but again a few things missing from orders. It’s not great but not bad. I’d go again given the options in the area but wouldn’t be buzzing about it.

We visited this restaurant for the second time with my family! We had exactly the same experience if not better!! The place had a nice vibe the staff were friendly and the food was spot on !!!!

Food was nothing special, good sausage quality, in terms of pasta zero truffles inside, very plane, I wouldn't recommend Took 50 min to wait for an order. If this happens, stuff should be more informative about delays however it was massively overpriced too. All tables outside are smoking, so you can't enjoy the sun . You dont want to breathe the cigarettes. it seems shocking to me in the XXI century

Quality of the food and drink I had was great. Picante and Chicken Tenders. The only reason for the 4* and not 5* is that service was really slow for a Thursday afternoon.

I visited here on May 19th and experienced a major billing error. I was mistakenly charged for another table's order, and despite being assured that I would receive a refund by last week, I am still waiting for it. Why is it taking more than a month to receive a refund?

Horrible service, was sitting at the biggest table in the centre of the restaurant for 15 mins and noone came up to us with a menu or anything even though we were seated my the manager. the creepy manager instead was hitting on two women right opposite us and when got the attention of a waiter was promptly annoyed. please get better staff

NO 17 is a modern, chique restaurant, with easy access to the train station. The food is good and served well. They are also flexible with tailoring to the requirements of their customers. It is a great place to go and eat in Ealing. Please book in advance!

I've gone 3 times now and each time, I've had a wonderful experience. The food here is high quality, the staff are polite and friendly (and when I've brought younger brothers with me, they've engaged with them and made them feel welcome). The cocktails are also really well made and high quality

Very bad experience!! We just ordered 2 drinks for 30£, the bartender after making my amaretto sour and taking the cherry, licked his fingers in front of us while asking if we wanted the bill. He had a toothpick in his mouth in all this. We have enough experience in hospitality but above all iĺbut this it was a bad experience because there should be a bit of professionalism in what you do and having two cocktails that cost £30 which wasn't even that great given that in the old fashioned they used sugar syrup and not the sugar cube and he didn't even add the angustura and in my amaretto sour there was lemon already mixed with the amaretto, I expected a little more professionalism given that the place is gorgeous and it's so expensive.

We went for brunch and the food took a very long time to arrive - most of my bread was burnt and the rest of my food was very underwhelming. Wouldn’t go again.

Nice setting for a restaurant / bar. The first I came here for dinner I wasn’t so impressed with the food. But I recently returned for brunch and it was delicious. The sweetcorn has was great and we also ordered a side of bacon and sausages for the table both of which made the meal perfect! Staff were really friendly, very relaxed vibe. Would return for brunch again.

Had a Sunday roast here earlier today. The place has a nice vibe however the wait staff were very indifferent bordering on rude. Overall now attentive. Roast was ok and nicely presented however the meat was cold and the rest of the plate was room temperature which was disappointing.

Had my birthday dinner here and food was great and venue very nice and intimate. Food wise, the only thing I did not enjoy was the beef, and although the Calamari was very nice, I personally don't think it matches with the mains menu, maybe change it for some fancy pigs in a blanket or something. Also, I had a few timing issues with a couple of meals, but it was resolved quickly, and the service was very good. It was a horrible wet day, and they allowed a smelly wet dog during dinner times, which I think is not cool at all (and I like dogs). But overall, it was a lovely night

I think the food is averagely delicious. A taste that goes well with alcohol. As expected, there are many types of cocktails, but there are also a wide variety of other drinks. Happy hour is open until 7:00 on weekdays, and although the variety is limited, you can drink alcohol at a low price.

Nice ambiance and decor, food fairly basic and overpriced. Vegan burger was overpowering in flavours, can find much better elsewhere, overall menu limited and simplistic.

Haven't eaten here yet but cute, cosy place amazing cocktails. Nice for intimate drink. Best to make a reservation in busy days xx

Ordered a plate to share. £15 for 2 round slices of salami, a bit of ham, 3 slithers of cheese. They must think the customer is that stupid. Waitress particularly prickly when it was fed back to her. Margarita glass not even salted at edge. You wonder what you are paying for. No atmosphere because surprise surprise there was nobody in there on a Saturday evening!

Visited here for the first time and met with some clients for lunch. Ambience was great as too was the service. Friendly and attentive. Food was tasty and portions were reasonable.

It's a nice place, relaxed atmosphere and good service. The food wasn't great though and the prices were very expensive. Serving warm soft drinks is a big no-no, especially when charging so much for them! I would only come back for a coffee.

Updated on 24 Dec 2023: We ate a Bravette Steak and Beef Sunday Roast. Unfortunately, the Roast was pretty average, and not worth the premium price charged. However, friendly and attentive service. Would come back for another meal but not for the Sunday roast. ------------ Friendly and attentive service. Cocktails were pricey but not amazing. Didn't have anything to eat but would come back to try.

Great food, amazing service, lovely views and ambience. Best brunch we've had in 2023. Would I return? Yes! Likely to be our go-to place for brunch even though it's 30 mins drive away. Family friendly staff. Great disabled access - they have a lift so you don't have to lug a pram up stairs if you want to sit on 1st floor. Coffee was decent (albeit in the small side)

Great spot for dinner. The venue accommodated our party of 17 girls to celebrate my niece's 13th birthday! Reasonable prices and great atmosphere!

First time visiting here and went for dinner with friends with the bottomless drinks option. 1st round was slow as they had a private party upstairs however Douglas our server definitely turned that around and thereafter drinks were flowing. He is a complete asset to your team. Ordered the shrimp burger which was delicious Cannot fault this venue… staff were on point and to me that’s as important as the food ! Thank you! I will definitely be back and cannot wait

Second time I’ve had brunch here in the last couple of weeks. Each time the food was lovely and the service was great. It is also dog friendly which is an added bonus. Will definitely be back.

Served with this bloke that has no personality at all. Seems like his been called to work on his day's off. No feelings nor engagement during our entire stay. No food check back( simple as asking if I need anything on my dry burger patty 😡) At the end of our experience, still missing the engagement that we are supposed to have after all the service charge imposed. Sunny and dry day outside, a beautiful and vibrant restaurant but not the staff! We are a regular here, missing your bubbly staffs. ( where are they? )

I watched the bartender pour a very short shot of gin for the person in the queue in front of me (about 35 ml in a 50 ml shot measure), so I decided to order a 175 glass of wine and watched the bartender only fill the measure up 3/4 of the way. All the while, he saw me watching him, and was flipping the bottle around like he was hot stuff but in the end was incapable of pouring properly. Especially disappointing when staff were adding service charges to alcohol bought at the bar. Pretty scummy in my opinion. The food was alright, but I went for a friend’s event and wouldn’t ever go back.

No 17 is a beautiful restaurant with great food and drinks, I am a regular customer and want it to be successful. Sadly I have found my visit yet again marred by an unpleasant attitude by waiting staff. Went for an early evening celebratory cocktail with my sister-in-law and my 18 y old daughter. Waiter refused to take an alcoholic drink order for my daughter despite us (50-year-olds) vouching for her age and having her ID on my phone. Ironically we had held her 18th birthday lunch there last year. The waiter showed no interest in resolving it, with a dismissive, negative approach that stood out as odd for a hospitality environment. He seemed almost a bit triumphant? to see us leave despite the restaurant being half empty. I have experienced unusually truculent attitudes from other staff here over the years, which I have rarely seen elsewhere, and heard a couple of similar stories from friends. I get great service at their sister restaurant in Canary Wharf. The poor attitudes are undoubtedly making No 17 a less successful business than it could be.

Expensive although the food is OK, only OK. Let down by service and attitude. A long time to be served and they waited until we were ready to order food before we were abvle to order a drink. Then an interesting attitude to customer needs emerged. They serve sourdough bread as the only option for bread but previously found that their bread can be very tough, particularly if toasted so asked for an alternative from other items on the menu - bap or brioche bun. No, take the sourdough or leave it. No reason, just no. Also asked for grilled tomato without the garlic dressing. No, there are no tomatoes on site that have not been marinated in a garlic dressing. Take it or leave it. All the draughgt beers or lagers are off and have been off for many weeks. But very expensive bottled lager is available, with an attitude. Our mistake for going there more than once.

Far too loud, lots of complaints from neighbouring table about volume of music, could nother friends speak. Food was small portions, orders were wrong, waiting staff nice but kept saying private function upstairs so were busy. Far too expensive for poor food. I would not go back

Awful night- do not come on a Saturday night if you want to talk. Booked for a group of friends for a meal. Music was so loud you could not speak to anyone including the staff, staff told us we could not do anything due to managements decision. Food is over priced for what you get and came out wrong and overly salty, wine glasses were not clean. However only bonus was our waiting staff who were lovely. Such a shame great spot but behaving like a night club rather than a restaurant

Mixed bag this place. I'd previously been to their restaurant in Chiswick and had an excellent experience, and similarly here in Ealing, a really good Sunday lunch prompted a Friday night visit for dinner and drinks with a friend. The restaurant is nicely laid out, chilled atmosphere, clean. But the portions were absolutely tiny and well overpriced for what you get. My friend and I each ordered a lamb pie, which were delivered to the table suspiciously quickly (so must have been pre-cooked and heated up) and barely provided any sustenance at all, although was tasty. My friend immediately after the plates were cleared ordered himself a burger, and I went and picked up a Chinese takeaway on the way home. Cocktails decent, but pricey. Overall, not a good value proposition at all, given the prices charged and food received.

Ridiculous prices. I ordered the lamb pie (at £18). For this price I was expecting a substantial dish. Well, I was wrong. What came was a tiny ‘pie’ that was so unsatisfying that I then had to order another whole dish (a horrifically overpriced burger), thereby spending £40 on very little food. My friend was left starving after the lamb pie debacle and later informed me he’d had a takeaway on the way home. Management is a shambles too - on arrival I waited close to 10 minutes for the manager to find our seating. I was eventually shown upstairs to some weird low seats that resembled a nursery. Back aches today after a very uncomfortable couple of hours. The only thing that exceeded the prices here was the level of heating. Perhaps if they turned it down a bit they could reduce their costs and pass the savings onto the customer. Won’t be returning here. God knows how this place survives.

Ordered a poached egg, it was solid inside, my friend ordered a side salad that never arrived. The main door was constantly being propped open by customers opening umbrellas as they don't have a porch so we were sitting in a howling gale and had to get up and close the door several times myself. Went upstairs to use the loos and they were extremely grotty - very dirty tiles, chipped toilet seats, missing plugs for the sinks. Really expect better given the extortionate prices. There are a number of lovely independent restaurants in Ealing that are a lot cheaper with real atmosphere and great food - please go to one of those instead!

My friends and I had dinner at No 17. on Friday 14th October and we had a fantastic evening. We're not an easily pleased bunch, either! The ambience and overall design here are gorgeous, the service was outstanding (extremely friendly, welcoming and attentive) and the menu was varied enough to suit everyone. I highly recommend if you're looking for a more glamorous place to eat in Ealing - I'm a local resident and this is definitely the best place I've been to. Will definitely be returning.

This was the first time visiting No17 Dickens Yard on Wednesday 24th August 2022 and it certainly was a fabulous experience. Upon arrival the decor and layout of the restaurant was spacious, bright and had a warm and inviting feel about it. We were greeted by one of the managers (can't remember her name but she was from Angola) who was friendly and jovial. She showed us to our table which had a partial view of the square and promptly offered us both a drinks and food menu. We ordered some cocktails which were very impressive and tasted amazing, they were well chilled on what was a very warm afternoon. Our food order was taken by a very pleasant waitress who patiently waited for us to decide from the mouthwatering menu. We ordered several small sharing plates and were blown away with the Crostini, chicken Tacos, Falafels and squid. The falafel was a marvelous mix of sweet potato, peas and spinach and the tahini was a perfect match, the squid was cooked perfectly and tasted succulent with the aioli topping it off. The bruschetta fillings were definitely outstanding, in particular the caponata with basil and chorizo if you visit this restaurant you must try this!! My sister in law and I had the Lamb leg steak which was perfectly cooked, tender and tasty, accompanied by the new potatoes with horseradish, creme fraiche and mint. My husband had the grilled seabass and chips which was vibrant, clean and well seasoned. Our meal was delivered to our table by Lukasz who was a perfect host, returning at the right times to enquire if everything was ok. We asked to meet the Head Chef Saski to congratulate him on cooking us such an astounding meal, he was gracious and humble and accepting of our compliments. All in all this was a memorable experience and we will without a doubt be returning to No17. Well done to all of the staff who we could clearly see working hard to satisfy their customers.

Unfriendly staff, average food and bad value for money. It was happy hour and our baby was with us. We ordered a 2nd round drinks on the dot when happy hour was finishing and the manager refused to honour it. He charged us full price and he could see we were looking after the baby whilst trying to enjoy an evening together but he didn’t care. Really poor service. There are better restaurants that respect you for spending time and money at their establishment. Not this place.

Attended N0 32 Dickens Yard in Ealing on 16/12/2021. Beautiful seating, upstairs and downstairs. Good service, tasty food and overall this place does lovely grilled sea bass and calamari. Prices are not bad. It is place where you can meet friends/family over a nice meal.

I traveled into west London with my partner and she is very picky when it comes to bars and food, however No17 looks well established and presentable. There are few well established bars and eateries in Dickens Yard, however this is establishment felt more professional...

Such a lovely place to have our first dining visit after lockdown! Service is all via an app - but efficient and speedy! The food is delicious, can’t wait to go back again.

My friends and I went to this restaurant on a Friday afternoon at the end of October. Due to Covid, menus were not provided on the table and it was actually difficult to find the drinks on the mobile app. In the end we asked the waitress for Prosecco. However, whilst taking our order we noticed an incident outside, which involved some of the restaurant male staff and someone who appeared to know the staff. The next moment they were squaring up to each other in the outside seating area and started to hit each other. Our waitress disappeared outside too, and spent the next 15 minutes or so trying to calm down the situation. The fight appeared to break up, but 10 minutes later the guy from outside the restaurant came back with three more guys, and several staff came out to confront them and a brawl ensued again. All this time, nobody came to see how we were and we and several other patrons contacted the police. The fighting stopped again but nobody came back to us for quite some time either to check if we still wanted a drink, or to ask if we were OK. As some time had elapsed and we didn't want to traipse around looking for somewhere else to eat at 3pm in the afternoon, we stuck with our order and then ordered some food and cocktails. The food itself was nice and reasonably priced. However, on finishing it we thought we would order one last bottle of wine. However, the manager said that our table was now booked by someone else and that there was no room elsewhere. At the time the restaurant was about a third full, and there were plenty of tables free a good distance away from ours, and only three people waiting at the door. Given we had had to wait over an hour to get drinks in the first place and then another half an hour for food because of a bar fight between staff and someone with whom they had obviously had history, to be asked to leave at that point seemed very unreasonable, as the reason we were still there was because of the long delay. During our wait two different waiters came to us with pots of tea that we had not ordered. On top of that, the Prosecco cost £38.50 a bottle for the same brand I could get at the local pub for £15.00, and the cocktail that we paid £10.00 for two at the same pub cost £13.50 each! The restaurant had the nerve to charge us £17.50 for service, which I had them remove from the total bill. There was no apology for the fighting incident(s), the delay, and no show of courtesy regarding our request to at least move tables in a half empty restaurant. This place thinks it's upmarket. It isn't. What it is, is pretentious, over-priced and with terrible customer service. Ealing deserves better than this.

I can honestly say that this is by far one of the best restaurants i have been to. We were approached by a young lady called Heavin who recommended a selection of dishes to us for the next time we come over. She consistently checked up on us as we were one of the last tables before the place was closing, she allowed us to put in our last drink orders which she recommended the sour amarretto, she was very kind and funny and made a good lasting impression However it was disappointing to know that the drinks could not be made as bar was closing and could not serve any cocktails only wine or beers, despite this we made light of the situation as our waitress was extremely polite when telling us the news. we had 2 cheese boards that night and they were fantastic We didn't get to try the drink however we would highly recommend the place especially when there are waitresses like the one we had available. Thank you Dickens yard for this experience its a shame a lockdown is headed our way however we will be back once restrictions have lifted!

I visited No.17 several times within the past weeks as I really like the atmosphere, food, and the staff are always friendly. When I walked in, a member of staff guided me through the government guidelines (sanitising hands, taking temperature, signing in for the track and trace) which made me feel safe even in this uncertain time. I had to place my order through their app which seemed confusing to navigate at first, but once I asked a waitress (Nathalie) for help, I found it easy to use. My food arrived quickly and tasted good too (I usually order the house burger or club sandwich) - same goes for the cocktails... especially the pornstar martini and negroni.
