What a gorgeous place! Firstly, Bawtry is quite popular for dining and drinks, but tends to be on the expensive side - No. 9 are bucking the trend! This fantastic veteran-owned & operated bar/eatery is a gem of quality at an affordable rate. With generous portions of a deliciously homemade menu, the couple that run it are due all the success due to their excellent efforts. A smaller bar and seating area makes No. 9 a cosy and intimate venue, though they make up for this with a great selection of food and drinks. From sandwiches and “small plates” (which are anything but small!) to beers and wines, there truly is something for everyone. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area or just passing through!

A lovely little cafe/bar. Called in for a bite to eat & were welcomed with a lovely lady with a big smile. Only ordered a toastie but it came with salad, homemade coleslaw & crisps, it was delicious. We are already planning our next visit.

Great place to meet friends and eat. We were greeted with a warm welcome on our arrival and really enjoyed our first visit. The food we ordered came quickly and was really scrumptious. This bar is well worth a visit.

Absolutely horrific experience, staff members seated at a table on entry didn't speak to us. We had to ask for drinks menu (they don't have one). Ordered teacake, two coffees and a bacon sandwich. Drinks came after we was served food. Staff still seated at a table. Coffees were instant sachets at £3.00 each! They were disgusting. Had to ask for a spoon and sugars. The teacake was solid and stale. No check back so had to go find someone to show them the food. She took it away with no apology. We explained we'd asked for a cappuccino and been given instant coffee and she pulled a face at us and walked off. Was still charged for everything but the teacake. We watched the staff cross off the teacakes from each paper printed menu so 100% out of date. Very rude staff. Also the dead roses in the windows had insects all over them.

We had been here once before under a previous management, when we thought the food was A. a bit pricey and B. a bit pretentious. Yesterday's experience was very different. The outside area when we walked up from the car park needed a bit of a clean, especial as the compound for litter is in full view and was full to the top of cartons and other rubbish. It wasn't a good first impression but we forgot all about it when greeted by a lovely member of staff, (Maisie?) who was very welcoming. Our table was in one of the small dining areas off the main bar area. We had a little wander around after we had eaten and the whole downstairs is very nicely decorated, clean and comfortable. Every member of staff we met was friendly, helpful and able to deal with our requests. We ordered two starters and mentioned that the third member of our party might be allowed to share. As a result, the waitress brought a third plate. The starters - fish cakes and ham terrine - were very nice indeed, although, in retrospect, I should have just had a main course, as the portions were quite generous. All three of us had the Barnsley Chops for a main and they did not disappoint. However, they were served in a shallow bowl and I would have preferred a proper dinner plate. It made cutting the meat from the bone quite difficult. We also had a side order of cauliflower cheese and it was enough for all three of us to share. Everything was very nicely cooked and presented. Dessert was the hazelnut cheesecake, which was pleasant, if a little bland. Very good coffee the end the meal. All in all, a very nice experience and I would recommend 1903 for a special lunch out.
