No. 84 Tearoom & Eatery in Gravesham

Popped in on on our way home as it didnt look very busy; our first visit in a long time. We ordered tea and a toastie each. White bread was the only option available unusually. The young lady that took our order was polite enough. Tea arrived quite quickly, but it was then a hungry 25 minutes wait before the food arrived. Tea was tepid by then. The toastie's filling was abundant, but luke warm. Bread was only toasted on the outside, so quite 'claggy' inside. For £7.00 I'd have expected a little salad garnish on the plate and paper napkin too. I really wanted to be a returning customer, but won't be sadly.

One of my favourite places to eat! Food always great and staff couldn’t be more helpful. Also enjoy their evening events they run too.

Really unimpressed and yet been going here for years. The ambience has gone, as has the character. Have always had good food here but this time sadly not, the toasted sandwiches didn't work - the fillings didn't work as a toasties- maybe would have been safer to stick to cheese. Been a loyal customer for years so will try again, maybe for breakfasts, these have always been excellent!

Another fabulous cheese and onion toastie - the best toastie in town! If you go for breakfast I really recommend the veggie breakfast (and I’m a meat eater!) Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Ordered sweet chilli onion bhaji salad , presented with something inedible, made a complaint, but still ended paying £12.50 for only being able to eat a small salad and tea, will not be returning

Wonderful local café serving fresh food and delicious cakes. Everything is very clean and the staff are welcoming. The food is brilliant value for £, the sandwiches are big enough to share between 2 and the cakes, of which they do have GF options, are delightful. Only downside is that the coffee is absolutely awful no matter what type you go for, the flat whites / lattes are like gross warm milk.

This place was recommended to us by friends and most definitely did not disappoint. Staff were so friendly and efficient and the food was great (the Club Sandwich is 👌) We will definitely be returning when we are next in the area.

This place has massively gone downhill since my list visit. I had a really poorly cooked breakfast which I left most of, and the eggs in particular were inedible. Not sure if it has changed hands but I won’t be back. You can get a much better breakfast at one of the cafes in town for less.

Popped in for a late breakfast, absolutely wonderful service, staff were very efficient and friendly. The food was lovely and plenty of it, particularly liked the sausages and bacon in my Big Breakfast, wonderful flavours. Even left with a slab of Chocolate and peanut butter cake for later. Definitely will return and definitely highly recommend.

My family and I had a private high for my 50th birthday on Sunday. The afternoon tea came out and looked amazing! The sandwich’s were really fresh with a great selection and the cakes were to die for! When I arrived the staff were very helpful and very attentive taking care of everyone’s requirements. The tea just kept coming and even better for a small corkage charge we were able to bring our own Prosecco! Everyone had a wonderful time and there was no rush for us to leave! I highly recommend for both a scrumptious breakfast/lunch or private hire.

Went with a friend. We both had the Grilled halloumi and chilli jam veggie bowl with extra avocado. We both thought it was delicious. Lots of different textures and flavours. Pasta, beetroot, grated carrot, leaves, tomato and a decent portion of halloumi and avocado, well worth £7. 00. I would have it again. And of course we had to have cake for afters! Service was good and friendly, nice to see the cafe so busy.

Very slow service, apparently new owners. Squashed on one table while window table only had 3 people on it, reserved for several people. Busy but disorganised.

First visit to here, Saturday morning breakfast for all the family, great service and great food. Will certainly be back soon

I took my 2 girls for afternoon tea here this week. We had a lovely time, the food was lovely. I have to say this was one of the best afternoon teas we have had. We had sandwiches, fruit, cakes, scones with cream and jam. There was a lot which was great. We took home what we couldn’t eat. One of my daughters is vegan and the staff couldn’t be more helpful, she had a vegan platter to herself. It made my daughter feel really special because not all places cater for vegan eaters. The breakfast tasted sooooo good. The food look more than Instagram-worthy. The best part was the quality of the food. It felt like the cafe was right next to a farm. Everything tasted so fresh and real. They do not cut corners here. Absolutely amazing

Just found a positive reason for Covid, I could have tea and cake at No 84 for a change.You can reserve a table now which is great, usually it was so packed you could never rely on getting a table.Great service and amazing cakes, although the couple sitting nearby had a breakfast which looked wonderful, so may give that a go next time.I can’t wait to return.

Lovely people, lovely food (especially the cakes). They really care about what they do and also look after people really well. I've taken friends there from all over the place (Scotland, Australia and so on) and they still talk about it when we meet up, so clearly it made a good impression. It's the apotheosis of tearooms (a word I've looked up specially for this review).

Me and my family had a lovely afternoon tea to celebrate my nan's birthday. Adrian was kind enough to book us in as the only customers, ensuring that the experience was safe for my family and Nan.As usual, the food was outstanding, great selection of both classic and experimental sandwiches, freshly made cakes and scones and of course loads of tea and coffee. (We even took a few cakes home as there was so much provided).The team went out of their way to make sure the environment was clean and hygienic whilst still maintaining a great tea room atmosphere and delivering a wonderful experience. Popped in on saturday as heard good things wasnt let down the cake was amazing and portions were huge! Tried the chocolate fudge and chocolate orange would recommend both! 2 cakes a pot of tea and latte come to about £11

Nice tearoom, but sadly have just let me down for a private hire booking. Booked in the summer specifically to ensure could have it for it for my birthday next month, been in today and found they cancelled my booking and put someone else in. Very disappointing. Needless to say won’t be giving them any further business.

Recommended so popped in for breakfast. Service slow. Husband ordered an expensive small breakfast. I ordered scrambled eggs. So so dry. Nearly sent them back. Just awful. But hungry and short of time. Will never go back. Such a shame. Shabby chic just looked like "can't be bothered'

If you want to step back in time and enjoy a real old fashioned tearoom atmosphere then this is the place for you. You will be treated with a friendly welcome and wholesome fresh food. Not so healthy are the homemade cakes available but go on - treat yourself.

I spent a lovely couple of hours hanging out (with a delicious breakfast) on a Saturday morning. A lovely little cafe.

I have been to No 84 quite a few times now....but always after normal cafe hours for either their writer's meet or open mic. Tonight it was the launch of the No 84 writers' anthology. What a lovely evening. Bubbly, nibbles, pecan pie, readings and laid back socialising with other writers and readers. What more could one ask for? So next time it must be a lunch visit....

Its always amazing fresh food and plenty of it too. Recently went with my mum and had bacon, beans, egg and mushrooms and we were in heaven! The tea is fab too. Heading back this weekend for brunch and will always recommend, only thing that lets it down can be the slow service but doewsnt put me off! Oh and the cakes are delicious and huge portions!

Had a great evening with my friends on 6th April playing cake bingo.I was lucky enough to win a line and then get a full house. There was a huge selection of cakes available for everyone . There were also vegan/gluten free cake pops, and I also won an amazing vegan chocolate cake! Full house! Fantastic evening, we bought our own food, drink and nibbles and had a brilliant time. Will be returning to see Ben the warm, accommodating and welcoming host again.

I took my daughter out for lunch here and it was busy but we were so happy to get a table. What a friendly, comfortable little place. We both ordered a quiche and salad. We chose a different one each and shared them. They were delicious and the side salad was generous and contained a nice variety of ingredients. We were then tempted by the Pecan and Salted caramel cake which again we shared. Amazing! Will definitely return and hope we can get a table!

Just come back from a lovely brunch here with 9 of my girlfriends. We booked a table and when we came in it was just being arranged for us. The food was fantastic, I had mushroom and egg on toast and it was gorgeous. We ordered tea and cakes as well. The cake portions were huge and the tea cake in lovely big pots. A great 3 hours spend here, we didnt feel ruahed to move on either. We will definitely be back.

Number 84 is my total fav in Gravesend. I go ther often and highly recommend it for the excellent food, customer service and ambience. A total community gem!

After struggle to find a half decent cafe that’s not a greasy spoon we found No 84, proper chunky bread, flavours were good toast was good bacon and egg sandwich was good will defiantly return.

We love coffee and cakes in this great little cafe especially when attending the skeptics in the cafe nights. Sadly carrot cake is never available probably as it was too popular.

A wonderful lunch was had by all. The quiches are to die for and a great place for afternoon tea. Super friendly and attentive staff. Would highly recommend.

Popped into No. 84 with my son for a coffee and a sandwich. I love the mixed up crockery even recognising some that my Grandparents had in their cupboards when I was a girl.

This is an excellent tearoom offering a good range of sandwiches,quiches, hot and cold food. The cakes are delicious too ! It does get very busy so it is best to reserve your table so you are not disappointed

Went in today with my Dad to catch on some recent events. I ordered a coronation chicken sandwich which was amazing, i didnt eat it all as i had eaten a few hours before hand. I loved the fact that they made it where everyone could see it! In my opinion its alot better than maries tea room. Far cleaner and great service. I loved the two ladies at the front too!

No 84 is ideal for small gatherings. I recently had afternoon tea with a group of colleagues and the food and service were excellent. Lovely scones with jam and clotted cream!

what a hidden gem this place is.nothing special from the front,but inside a lovely quaint decor and a great atmosphere.very friendly staff,coupled with huge pots of tea and food that is so tasty and it is a winning combination.

Came for lunch with a group of friends, one being a vegetarian and was delighted at the vast range of food on offer. This place is local for me. You can get a decent loaf of bread here. Sometimes. When I first used the cafe I had a very decent sausage sandwich, fresh white bloomer & coffee to match. But that experience has never been replicated. The service is a bit unsure & menu limited. I sometimes think this place caters for a certain market, namely post school run as always seems popular whilst other customers maybe get left in the dark, hence the ‘off’ service

i like this place very much, staff are friendly and food always pretty good, So i popped in to get a takeaway vegetarian salad for my wife for lunch as she couldn't leave the office, there wasn't a huge selection of salad items in the fridge but just enough variety to get by, anyway i should of asked how much before we started as when they filled the small cardboard punnet i was told that's £5 , i said are you joking that's extortionate, 'sorry that's the price' he said, my advice to anyone wanting a reasonably priced sandwich or salad for lunch is go somewhere else as in my opinion they really are not good value for money, sitting down to eat maybe but takeaway heavy on the pocket.

Had a brilliant experience here both the staff and sevice where outstanding.

They said sit down and we'll take your order - uh I don't think so. After 15 minutes I caught someones eye - a young boy - who had no training whatsoever - he took our order, when our sandwiches came, no napkin or knife to cut the bread - asked for one and got a knife with no serrated edge on it and no cake that we ordered. Worth your wait and you save money by not getting everything you asked for!

The layout of the No.84 Tearooms is just beautiful it is so warming and makes you feel at home, I love all the different various Tea sets. My food was delightful, and the atmosphere from the staff was welcoming and puts a smile on your face. Took a slice of the coffee and walnut away with me as I just couldn't not, and it was so smooth and was just a charm. Most definitely will be returning.

I had the small breakfast in No 84 whilst waiting for my wife,daughter & her friend. I have to say that it was very nice with good quality ingredients. The sausage was particularly good and overall it was a very good breakfast. The atmosphere in No 84 is what probably makes the place. Everyone coming in was met with a lovely greeting and it appears to be a place for groups to meet up to socialize as well as eat & drink. When my wife & daughter & her friend arrived they also ate and enjoyed everything they had. We also took away some pieces of their lovely cakes. A piece of Oreo cheesecake cake for my son and my daughter & her friend also had a piece. They have said that the cakes were really good and would definitely have another piece when we revisit, which I'm sure we will. When we left it was very full up with customers all chatting & eating in a lovely atmosphere. No 84 is a real gem of a place and I hope that it continues to provide for the customers for years to come. Very Highly recommended.

We booked a table but it was double booked so the waitress immediately gave us a free drink and seat on a comfy settee and we didn't have to wait long for our table. We wanted vegetarian and vegan lunches and these were readily available. I've been previously and had lovely cakes. I love the tea cups and pots. A great atmosphere. there's a little car park nearby. It does get busy so is worth booking.

Visited Gravesend today and spotted this lovely café. What a find!! We were lucky and got the last table and I tucked into a delicious quiche with about six different salads and my friend had the home-made carrot and parsnip soup served with a lovely chunk of wholemeal bread. The staff were really friendly and the service was surprisingly quick considering how busy they were. Lunch was finished off with the best coffee I’ve had for ages. Thank you and we can’t wait to visit No 84 again!!

Food is okay - run of the mill stuff, but cheap ingredients the coffee is good. Service is SLOW and awful. Dont pop in if you only have 45mins for lunch etc.

Had a toasted cheese and tuna on granary with onion. Person serving even put a bit of onion on the outer top slice so it toasted into the bread. An awesome sandwich and wish I'd taken a photo before wolfing it down!!!

Great tea room great service. staff are so friendly the cakes are amazing. The sandwiches are huge on uncut bread and all fresh fillings its expensive for a meat sandwich but so so worth it. very busy normally have to wait for a table but worth the wait

wife was getting her hair done so was looking after granddaughter went in for a lite snack was surprised . the sandwiches we ordered was fresh on uncut bred good fillings. coffee was nice and above all the staff were excellent very welcoming, nothine was to much trouble.

Ive been here quite a few times now and I will continue to as long as they are turning out such good quality food and drinks, the sandwiches are great always using fresh uncut bread with nice portions of fillings and fresh salad. The cake choices are usually plentiful and diverse and seriously big so be prepared. All in all a great place to enjoy lunch or afternoon tea.

No. 84 is a wonderful place to visit! So homely and friendly with superb, freshly made to order menu. It is somewhere to visit with confidence that you will have a lovely experience.The evening talks are brilliant too.We love it here!

Popped in for lunch. Lovely to see it busy and lucky to get a table. Asparagus soup was lovely. Service a bit slow as they were so busy but staff very pleasant.

i simply love this tea room , its vintagey , its charming ,it has lovely staff , without a shadow of a doubt this is the best tea room I've visited, the food is wonderful , it doesn't matter what you have it is always well presented with loads of finesse , and the portions are huge !!!! and reasonable … when you see what you get for your money you know its worth it , the cakes are to die for and if you cant eat it all you can take it home , the hot chocolate is amazing and you get top ups, if you have a crowd its best to book up this place is always packed the manager is always floating about which is nice , and always has time to have a chat .. they do afternoon teas here and baby showers but again id say book it , they also have on occasions special evening sessions , e.g.. reading , crocheting , clairvoyance , ect but best to check that on Facebook on their page … there is parking but its just across the road as the tearoom its self is situated on a roundabout ...

This tearoom is so nice and vintage. Lovely cups and saucers, teapots in a lovely setting. Food is fresh and biggest slices of toast ever! There are also a selection of cakes which look divine! The staff are really helpful and accommodating too and it has a lovely atmosphere. They also do community run things so all round, lovely place, lovely people.

Lovely tearoom/restaurant serving wonderful home made meals and cakes. Met up with the ladies for a good old catch-up. I chose the quiche Lorraine which came with a lovely plate and salad and was excellent. Shared a carrot cake which was also excellent. No rush, lovely chilled afternoon, would definitely recommend

Visited here for the first time yesterday (4/March). A lovely quirky busy tea room serving a lovely selection (and generous portions) of cakes. Sandwiches, soups and other food also available. Everything served using mixed assorted china cups and a proper tea pot for our tea. A friendly and helpful welcome add to our great experience. A real gem and we shall certainly visit again.

The cakes and sandwiches are wonderful and it is great to have something like this in gravesend. However service isn't very prompt and you are left hanging round looking for a table and trying to pay for things. Wish it was open longer on Sundays so there was more time for cake!

I have visited No. 84 many times over the years both with friends, family and kids. I love this place! The food and drinks are of a lovely standard and the serving staff are always friendly and on hand should you need anything. We've had breakfasts more than anything else here and the quality and standard are both great. We have also been in for afternoon tea and again, the quality of what you received was great .. the cakes are to die for ... and who doesn't love having tea from a proper tea set! Will always come back here!

We love going to this establishment. It is just great. The Food is lovely and whilst a little bit pricey is worth it. Lovely staff (most the time) and we love all the teapots! If we have any complaint it is this... three times we have walked in, looked around for a table had a chat then walked out and no one has seemingly cared. I know this is not the case but it is a bit sad that you can walk in to such a small place and out again and not be noticed... it gave a feel of we will serve you if free and not one of we value your custom.That said ..... very nice and we keep going back!

I visited with friends and it was the best food we've had!! The breakfasts were tasty and the perfect size and the selection of cakes were incredible! I had a chocolate cake with an oreo cheesecake centre and it was delicious! The staff were very friendly and happy to help with all extra requests, which made the whole experience much better. I love this tearoom and would definitely come again as it's perfect for all occasions!

Had a late breakfast after completing the 'Panic Room' in Gravesend. Great breakfast, lovely staff in a vintage setting. Loved the vintage crockery. Book a table before you go, as it gets busy. Car park on Echo Square car park just across the road. You won't find a better eatery in Gravesend for tea and cake!!

Frequent this place a lot. So friendly and cute. Amazing salads and quiches! Only one downside, sometimes service is slow. Because it gets so busy, if you definitely want a seat, especially for bigger parties, call and book! They also cater for private parties - they've done a few for me - brilliant place.
