I stopped for a cup of coffee when road works held up progress. I got the sort of genuine friendly service you don't get in chains and a great cup of coffee too, which I had in the little garden at the back of the shop. I loved the place and would definitely return.

Lucky enough to come here for breakfast whilst visiting parents who now live in Maiden Newton. All the ingredients perfectly sourced and cooked for the full English breakfast. Eggs, bacon, sausage and hash brown cooked as perfectly as any breakfast I've ever had. An absolute 10/10 and can't wait to visit again.

I can't really offer a constructive review of this place when 'in full swing' because, when we called in for a cup of tea and a coffee around 2pm on a Saturday afternoon, we were told that they stop serving lunches at 12 lunchtime on a Saturday!! I've often passed this place and so I know that it's a cafe as well as a newsagents, but when you go in to buy a paper it looks as if there are just a couple of tables at the back of the shop. So on Saturday I was almost gobsmacked when I saw the area beyond that has a large number of decent, if basic, wooden tables, the potential for a great atmosphere - and a stunning little courtyard garden! As I say, they'd stopped serving food but they did have a good selection of pre-packaged luxury cakes which I was tempted by, but when I asked about dairy-free ones (I am lactose-intolerant) they just said that there was nothing... I have a feeling that Jessica's (bought-in) home-made cakes are actually dairy free, as they are made with margarine which could be vegetable-based but the staff made no effort to find out. And so we didn't have our mild hunger-pangs sorted out and went home for a late lunch instead. It was a fairly hot late-spring day, but the patio doors leading to the lovely-looking little garden were bolted shut! OK, I can now see that the courtyard garden is mentioned in the signage outside, but the human mind doesn't tend to take in vertical lettering. And even when it does, you need to tell your customers about it - and then blow the ruddy doors off! This little business is an absolute potential gem and so is the location. I've owned small venues before and if I were lucky enough to afford this place I would milk it till the cows come home (albeit with the lactose-free variety!). But sadly, this is as bigger a waste of a hugely promising business opportunity that I have ever seen. Whoever owns it, do this: Take the bull by the horns, then milk the cow. Or just shut up shop and sell it to someone who can.

On return visit to location for cycling up in the stunning local countryside, I found the same friendly service, good food and modest prices. I intend to return again, and will pick a time as opening is 1000-1400 in winter

Arrived here at 4.50 pm after a five hour hike expecting only to be able to buy a bar of chocolate or similar if we were lucky as we half expected it to be closed or closing, but no the lovely lady Sylvia welcomed us and although the cafe was officially closed she offered to make us the most delicious Mocha,s which along with a piece of cake really hit the spot and made our day. Can’t wait to visit again Sylvia, see you soon. X

Lunch time snack we are house siting for our son and decided to pop down the road for lunch. We had been told about No64 from someone in the village and what a good choice, you enter via the shop at the front there are a few tables inside but as it was a nice day we carried on into the courtyard garden a lovely sun trap, I ordered a ploughman's with cheddar cheese which was accompanied by lovely fresh bread, chutney, pickled onions, sliced Åland salad. My partner chose the mushroom and leeks in a cheese sauce which she pronounced as delicious. They also had a range of delicious looking homemade cakes which will tempt us to return.

We had a very nice breakfast baguette takeaway from here last weekend, the baguette was filled to the brim with bacon and two eggs and it was delicious unfortunately for us the cafe is only open at the weekends in winter so we were not able to try it again which was very disappointing we would certainly recommend this cafe.

Food here is very good. All home cooked and delicious cakes. There is a garden at the back where dogs are welcome. You have to walk through the newsagents to get to it. They also do B&B (not tried this but have heard that it is tastefully decorated and reasonably priced)

What a great little place! We've been there a few times, and its always been the same, friendly, cosy and informal, with a great selection of cakes, and sandwiches, etc. They also do some nice cooked food, not too fancy, but tasty and well-cooked. The soups can be amazing. Prices were very reasonable, given the quality of the food. Our latest visit was last week, when stopped in for a coffee after a cycle ride in the area, and stayed for a very satisfying lunch. We are looking forward to going back there soon, especially later in the spring when we can sit out in the sun on the patio. They have a bookcase filled with some interesting looking books, and a comfy sofa to sit on, sipping a great cup of coffee - would be a lovely way to spend an hour or two after a walk or ride in the West Dorset countryside.

Sunday lunch was not very good. Waiter ate food and drank at the bar constantly. Emptied bins and didn't wash his hands. Chef sat at the bar in between orders. Food arrived and was tasteless, meat tough and when asked for cranberry sauce the waiter arrived with a plastic tub to serve it!

A small hidden Cafe hidden down a side alleyway, delivers a big smile through it's food and warm welcoming hosts. They make delicious salads, homemade crustless quiche, large saucer style macaroons, homemade sausage rolls and vege rolls. It's the only place in Dorchester that i feel the food is good for you, cooked on the spot there that day, great coffee and choice of tea's etc. Seating is limited and very sadly due to it's size of premises maybe closed due to Covid, please double check. They have worked so hard and deserve all our support
