We stayed here 3 nights and the staff was caring and wonderful. It's a very unique property and convenient to most activities though a bit of a walk but not bad at all.

Stayed here for 3 nights on our Flying Scotsman trip. Lovely heritage Boutique hotel super walkable to Royal Mile, train Stn etc but in a quiet leafy area making it feel like living with locals not in the bustley tourist centre. Gr8 breakfast. Do stay

Lovely 2 night break spent here. Originally booked 3 nights, but travel itinerary required it to be reduced to 2. Having done a non-refundable booking, it was a very pleasant surprise, to find the extra night was credited to our bill. Welcomed with a glass of fizz each, as I was celebrating a big birthday, was a nice touch as well. No 11 is a perfect base for exploring Edinburgh. A beautifully restored Georgian townhouse in a quiet residential area, within easy reach of the city centre. Parking is available on street and those nearby, through the Ring-Go app, but is limited to four hours. Parking can be renewed when your session expires. The hotel affords huge rooms with seriously comfy beds. We had dinner on our first night. The food here is really rather special. From the current menu, I would highly recommend the Spiced duck and orange salad to start with, followed by Highland beef three ways. Special mention to Heather, a total superstar who guided my partner on the many whiskeys to try. Would highly recommend this boutique hotel, we certainly plan on returning.

We booked here as fairly close to the theatre. It was quiet, a beautiful room, nicely decorated and staff were lovely. There are 3 areas to sit and have a drink, including the lovely back garden. The dining room is lovely too. Food was amazing! We'll definitely be back!!

Lækker middag i en lille hyggelig restaurant. Alt opfyldte forventningerne, god mad af gode råvare. Servicen var helt i top og de var super gode til at tilpasse middagen efter min kones allergi.

Dinner was truly delicious. Breakfast was very good and served hot. The coffee was too weak! The service was excellent at all times.

Food was really tasty and well cooked. Started with the scallop and the black pudding in panko, both excellent, a bit of theatre with the scallop with dry ice coming from the shell bed. Then had the venison and the seabass, both cooked perfectly and nice additions with the apple and bramble compote, butter nut squash and garlic roasted potato with the vension, and the parsnip puree and apple foam with the fish. Didn't have dessert as was pretty full. Value for money with the 2 courses at £29pp, wine was reasonably priced. Room was very well decorated, staff were very efficient but nice with it and able to have a bit of a conversation with them (We were heading to the rugby)

El servicio excepcional fue increíblemente servicial y muy informado. Social distancing in place so felt perfectly safe whilst enjoying a hearty breakfast before venturing into town. Service from the staff was very welcoming and friendly with a great choice of breakfast items, nothing was too much trouble for them.

Went there using a Groupon and was given wonderful service. Even given the opportunity to up-sale me, she didn’t - I was questioning if I should get venison (normal Groupon menu item) or fillet (£10 surcharge), she recommended venison. The mussels, and venison were all wonderful. We got the creme brulee for dessert and were underwhelmed. Also, the chairs were very low - I felt like a child at the table. It was a very nice ambience. Very small place (maybe 10 tables) and the service was absolutely wonderful. I would recommend.

Comenzó ya en la entrada. La señora nos recibió de una manera muy real, quitándonos personalmente nuestros abrigos y guardándolos. Reservé una mesa para 2 para la víspera de Navidad con 3 meses de anticipación, especificando que se requerían opciones sin gluten para 1. Finalmente sentados contra la barra del bar justo dentro de la entrada (?!) Pedimos Prosecco. Aproximadamente diez minutos después de realizar el pedido, nos dijeron que estaba agotado. La camarera se esforzó mucho, pero le faltaba conocimiento del menú y capacitación en hospitalidad. La promesa inicial de que prácticamente cualquier elemento del menú puede prepararse como una versión sin gluten demostró ser un problema real, ya que las opciones se limitaron por decir lo menos. La presentación en general estuvo bien, pero los platos eran muy sosos y poco interesantes. Finalmente decidimos compartir una fuente de queso para el postre. Christmas Eve dinner proved underwhelming despite what appeared to be promising. We had booked a table but were seated in the entrance, resulting in being brushed past all evening. The Prosecco was out of stock so we ended up with a rather uninteresting Sauvignon Blanc. The advertised GF Tarte Tatin turned out to not be gluten free - apparently a typing error and the rice balls were literally that - balls of cooked rice. The fish cakes were full of fish but not much flavour while the veg curry was quite tasty, although Las Iguanas does a better one by far. No GF crackers for the cheese board, and no GF bread either. As a GF diner, I try to manage my expectations, but my sense here was a poorly managed show with supply challenges. I also think that the chef was either very cautious with flavours or simply wasn't very skilled. The whole experience was disappointing and more expensive than it should have been for what we received. Skosh in York offers a vastly superior offering at the same rate and I did make the comparison. Skosh has nothing to fear, even from 220 miles away. Final point - our server was friendly if under-skilled. We were determined for it not to ruin our Christmas in Edinburgh and the high tea at the Waldorf-Astoria on Boxing Day went some way to make up for it but gauging from the range of reviews, No 11 is literally a case of potluck.

From the moment we sat down, it all started to wrong, the glass of red wine had lipstick on the rim and it was very obvious, I ordered Cullen Skink then Venison, my wife had Pate and Salmon. The Cullen Skink was okay nice large bowl filled with veg and some fish, the Pate, my wife said was very good. Now the mains, Venison, uneatable, sinew and gristle...... how could any Chef send this out to a customer is beyond me. I will say the Jus was excellent and the veg superb, the side of chunky chips, well, his idea of chunky @nd mine are miles apart, these were normal greasy chips. My wife’s Salmon was dry and bland.Would I go back, no, not even if you paid me.

We arrived at the restaurant to be welcomed by Mike our host who made our afternoon a one to remember,he was an excellent member of staff who did his job very well,all of the food our party of four had was delicious and well presented,we will definatley return when visiting Edinburgh again.

Ate here last night, group of 5 friends, starters, mains and desserts were all fantastic. We had the trio of pork, rump of lamb, venison and rump steak, all cooked lovely. Lovely atmosphere and great service by magic Mike. Will definitely be visiting again.

I had 2 courses from the Festive Scottish Menu. The turkey main was lovely and the cheese board had a good selection on it and I was full at the end. The only thing I would comment on was that we ordered 2 rounds of Gin and Tonics and whilst the 1st was mixed with one brand of tonic, the 2nd was mixed with another and we could certainly taste the difference. Its a very small niggle but it would have been nice to have had continuity. The dining room is lovely to sit in and the staff were very friendly. We look forward to visiting again.

We came here after receiving a groupon for a gift, was a 3 course meal for 2. I think the price worked out being what you pay for around 1. The dining room was small but busy, it reminded me of a much smaller bonham. It had a very well stocked bar.We ordered the vegan black pudding (delicious- and had I not known it was vegan I would never have guessed) and the pate to start- the pate was ok, unsure if homemade though. Then we both had some kind of fish and risotto, this was tasty and we order a couple of sides to go with it. The service around the desert slowed significantly and I think was to do it the restaurant being full at this point. We had sticky toffee pudding and cheese. We ate all of our food and we enjoyed it but I’m not sure if it was worth what would have been full price. I would return using a groupon.

We booked for the Groupon deal. Lovely intimate restaurant. We were made to feel very welcome. Food was truly amazing.. compliments to the chef! Will definitely eat there again when we next visit Edinburgh.

The food here is incredible. Some of the best I have ever eaten. The portions are perfect and the menu has a wonderful variety. Great selection of wine and not too expensive considering how great the food is.

We really enjoyed our meal tonight. The staff were friendly and the food was first class. The dinning room and lounge were perfectly decorated and the the whole place had a great relaxing atmosphere. We will be staying here next time.

11 Brunswick Street is one of the original Georgian buildings just on the outskirts of Old Edinburgh. We had room 5, which is very large and on the second floor. The breakfasts are excellent.

A modern take on traditional foods in a small personal room. Everything we ordered was delightful - tasty and well presented. We stopped in for a quick late meal and enjoyed it so much that we came back again the next night.

Great location, rooms and excellent restaurant onsite. The staff was super helpful and accommodating. We had 3 rooms on the lower level and each one was very different.

Lovely food from admittedly restricted menu, but no complaints as quality was outstanding. Friendly, efficient service and attractive dining room. A firm favourite for me in Edinburgh.

Mi pareja y yo fuimos a cenar al no 11 la otra noche y ambos estábamos extremadamente decepcionados no solo en el servicio sino también en la comida. Anteriormente habíamos estado en el no 11 hace unos 2 años y nos encantó. Le dijimos a tanta gente lo increíble que era.

Hicimos una reserva para 6. Estábamos en Edimburgo para celebrar mi 40 cumpleaños. Está escondido del ajetreo y el bullicio de Princes Street y bien vale la pena el viaje. Ordené que la línea cogiera caballa. Fue absolutamente delicioso, uno de los mejores platos de pescado que he probado en mi vida. El comedor estaba decorado con buen gusto con un piano de cola. Un joven pianista tocó maravillosamente para nosotros. No dudaría en regresar.

Hay muchos lugares para comer en Edimburgo y vale la pena visitar este lugar apartado. Está entre London Road y Leith Walk y dentro de una hermosa casa georgiana convertida en hotel. El comedor no es grande pero está muy bien presentado. Nos recibieron alegremente las dos camareras que eran encantadoras y muy atentas.

Raramente escribo reseñas pero anoche comimos una comida fantástica y asombrosamente buena. No nos hicieron sentir menos clientes por usar un cupón y nuestro servidor hizo todo lo posible por ser acogedor y agradable. El menú de degustación de tres platos que teníamos era delicioso y su inventiva nos mantuvo a dos cocineros interesados en hablar sobre nuevas ideas de recetas durante toda la noche. Dicen que el menú de degustación, pero las raciones eran generosas, compartimos el postre porque íbamos a reventar de otra manera. El restaurante es hermoso y atmosférico también. Definitivamente regresaremos, vale o no.

I was excited to get a table here having read the reviews. One could call the service swift but, for me, it was too quick. I will admit it is a Brasserie and one should expect to be out quickly. The food is reasonably priced. Staff are helpful. Good wines. My one disappointment was the venison. It was both undercooked and rubbery. I wasn’t asked why I had left so much. Interesting....

We ate here recently, service and hospitality were shockingly poor, so much so we felt we had to leave a review of the real experience. When we tried to bring this feedback directly to the business we were meet with a patronising respond from a obnoxious white haired man, I think one of the owners. Service was slow and unprofessional, ignored for ages, we had to keep looking for their attention at every point. Woman that took call and was around on the last night promised the world but delivered little, I think she was a manger/owner, she didn't have a clue. Over our recent visits we have really built up the impression of a lack of real knowledge and understanding of hospitality from the top of the company. There seems to be a "winging it" approach which the prices and "fine-dining" tag does not reflect. Food was mediocre at best, standards have really dropped a lot since we first ate here. We have dined here many times over the past few years however we will not be back nor recommending it.

We’ve eaten here four times now and the food is always delicious, beautifully presented and in a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely go back again when we’re next in Edinburgh.

We visited No.11 last night, using a Groupon voucher we got as a gift.

A rugby reunion weekend coincided with a 'big' birthday, so I wanted to host a lunch to mark the occasion. I don't know Edinburgh very well but i did some research online and found No 11 Brunswick St. All menu selections, seating plans etc. were sorted out by email communication. I would just like to say a big 'thank you' to everyone at No. 11 for all their work in making sure that it was such a lovely celebration but, most of all, I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to Sue who dealt with both my email requests and guests on the day with both great professionalism and warmth. The dining room at No. 11 was a perfect size for our lunch - I loved the decoration - and the 3-course seasonal lunch was delicious; everyone enjoyed it. My only one,very small criticism, was that I wish I had been told prior to the event that we would be expected to vacate tables at 2.15 pm - I thought we had until 3 pm. However, I do hope to return to No. 11 and, again, thank all the staff for making it such a happy occasion.

We stayed here for two nights in a second floor room. The room was large and comfortable with a lots of storage. The building is beautiful. We were treated to this by our children. We loved the location as not far from the center and and easy walk from the station. On our first evening the five course taster menu was included in the price. Our experience was mixed. The dining room is really quite dark and the meal was over in an hour... The price was £63.50 each which was quite rich for what we ate. I would probably just choose al la Carte if we returned. The fish dish just tasted of Vodka and the cock a leekie soup had no flavor at all.

We had eaten here before and really enjoyed the food, but our recent visit was a bit disappointing. The starters and puddings were lovely but the mains were not great. I had the chickpea and coconut curry which was quite bland and really dry. My husband had the pork belly which was ok but the yellow split peas it came with were very wet. What really spoiled it for us though was as we arrived we were sat right next to the only other filled table in the room which was really close. Then the next guest were sat next to them so it made it a bit awkward to have a conversation without everyone hearing your whole conversation. I know it was busy but people could have been staggered throughout the room more. When we left there was still 4 empty tables. Bad management really.

After leaving several messages on the answer machine, which weren't responded too, eventually we managed to book a table to use our Groupon Deal voucher.

Had Groupon voucher for the 5 course tasting menu. For a Sunday evening, even though we ate at 1745, the place was full. Food was lovely, not massive portions, but it was a tasting menu after all. Highlight for both of us was the Lamb, I had to restrain myself from licking the plate! Chocolate creme brûlée was also gorgeous. Service was quick, but I wouldn't say rushed, staff also very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back again, they do have various offers on directly in the hotel, as well as Groupon. And just a little comment on a previous review that complained about the amount of fat on the Pork Belly, IT IS A FATTY MEAT, of COURSE it will be fatty. :-) shout outs to Irene and Mike who looked after us very well.

We got a voucher as an Xmas present for a one night stay & 5 course tasting meal we got there and were welcomed right away was a bit sceptical before hand after reading some reviews before attending but as I said were made to feel welcomed as soon as we got there we had the small double room was a little small haha but wasn’t too bad had all the basics we needed. Really enjoyed the 5 course tasting meal apart from the sea bass tried it but just wasn’t for us but can’t fault any other part of the meal as it was really good. overall was a great night at no-11 also not too far from the city centre about a 10 minute walk.

Staff are friendly but food is overpriced and nothing exceptional. We enjoyed elements of our meal but overall it wasn’t worth the price and we won’t be returning anytime soon. Much better options in Edinburgh for the price.

We received a gift voucher and booked lunch which was a fixed price seasonal menu. An upgrade to the a la carte menu cost £8 pp but because it was only the starters we weren’t keen on and they all cost the same, we decided to stick with what was on offer. I had tomato and mozzarella salad, there were several shavings of mozzarella, not the substantial presence of mozzarella I was expecting. My husbands cock a leekie soup contained brown shredded chicken as well as a chicken bone and skin. Looking forward to the main course I ordered miso salmon served with various vegetables in a broth - it was ok. My husband ordered pork belly which was rolled pork resembling something you would expect from the frozen isle at the supermarket. He ate around a third of it as the rest was fat.

My partner and I shared a meal at the restaurant after we received a gift voucher. We were unfortunate disappointed by the experience, and it generally felt rushed and the food was not of a suitable standard for the reputation that preceded it.

Wonderful meal in this very special dining room. Delicious food & wine. Perfect service. Our next visit already booked.

I have already written my reveiw of the hotel from our visit. This is to emphasis how wonderful the quality of the food was. We had the tasting menu for dinner and the 'Scottish' breakfast. Both were fantastic.

If you read the other reviews you will see a common theme, where this organisation is quite happy to sell discount vouchers through Groupon, it has a low opinion of those using them, treats them as though second class citizens.

Limited 3 course menu with Travelzoo witch cheeky glass bubbles. Not great choices but what was on offfer was delicious. Only negative was cheese and biscuits- cheese was straight from fridge. Special mention of Cranachan dessert which was delicious.

They really need to sort out their voucher pricing system promotions.

Visit with fiends who had arranged using the 5PM voucher scheme which gives two courses for £12.50. Table not ready on arrival and ended up at the door although a window table was empty, Rather noisy with a very vocal child at another table.

Had the two course menu using a Groupon voucher. Lovely restaurant and ambience with a warm welcome when we arrived. We thought there was something for everyone on the menu and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Only one of us is vegetarian although we both ate vegetarian options. The starters were possibly not quite to our personal taste but the mains were delicious. Would definitely recommend, particularly with a discount voucher.

Nice little find in a more residential area of the city. The food was nice but wasn’t wowed. For what you pay I would recommend to others. Note: the menu was slightly different to that on the website.

El menú fijo era bastante limitado y, aunque normalmente evito el pavo asado antes de Navidad, me vi obligado a elegirlo, ya que no me gustaban las otras 2 opciones. Fue el más decepcionante de los 3 platos, pero el primer y el plato principal fueron geniales, al igual que la efervescencia que se incluyó en el trato. El personal era muy eficiente y la habitación era de buen tamaño y tenía preciosas decoraciones de Navidad. Fue muy útil para el Playhouse al que fuimos después y lo tendré en cuenta para futuras comidas antes de las visitas al teatro.

I came with a close friend for dinner nearing Christmastime, and the service, food and atmosphere were all incredible. Perfectly sized portions, fresh ingredients bursting with flavour. This is not a restaurant to miss.

The ambience and staff were lovely! We had a good meal from start to finish. Presentation was beautiful and the tastes were pleasing. This is a small restaurant within a hotel and worth a visit. Pricey but worth it.

Somewhat off the beaten track, this is good fare served well. Excellent venison and soup of the day (cauliflower and cress) was a highlight. Fish dishes were also very good and well worth staying for the puddings !

We received a nice warm welcome from the waitress, same couldn't be said for the waiter who was distant and not very friendly! Starters were good and tasty but the Turkey dinner main was at best just ok! The roast potatoes were burnt black in places, kilted sausages over cooked and the Turkey looked like it was from a Bernard Matthews roast with the fatty edge still on it. And so to dessert, a choice of only three items from the Christmas Menu two of which contained raspberries, my wife hates them and the third being cheese which had a £3.50 supplement! I chose the Cranachan which is a favourite of mine and should have a hint of whisky in it, there was none, disappointing.

From reading the menu on the sites it looked really good. It wasn’t. We turned up to be looked down upon for obviously using a site they advertise on. The food came from a very limited choice and was ok to be fair but god the staff acted as if I’d slept with his grandma. If you go you will probably know which staff member I mean

Food was lovely but portions far to small. Hubby needed to go to shop to buy chocolate to fill himself up.
